I dont know when these turn yellow/green/gray but at cooking lvl 150 they are still red.

i found that farming the tangy clam meat for alliance (and maybe horde if you feel like risking being so close to menethil harbour) was best off of the bluegill raiders (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=1418) since they not only have one of the highest drop rates of thick-shelled clams but they also have relatively high silver drop rates (usually at least 0.7-1.4) and is ridiculously close to town so you can even sell off the most useless of vendor trash.

it took a little time but this recipe is what got me to around 180 cooking before i moved on.

I found my recipe on Tomas <Cook> in Elwynn
instead of on Toddrick <Butcher>.
It's also on Stephen Ryback <Cooking Trainer> in Stormwind

(As an aside, Stephen Ryback is a Stephen Seagal/Casey Ryback clone for anyone who has seen "Under Seige". Seagal's character was a Cook/SEAL)

Confirmed:
This recipe can be TRAINED from the Cook in the upper story of the building right next to the bank in the Bazaar. Go in the building and turn left. Up the stairs there is a Cook. (He does not say Cooking Trainer, but he is one).
