These are for The Black Shield quest. As of the 2.3 patch, which revamped Dustwallow's questing, these drop from Darkmist spiders (Darkmist Spider, Darkmist Recluse, & Darkmist Silkspinner), not the orange darkfang spiders. The new quest log info points you to the Darkmist Cavern, just NW of Brackenwall Village.

Drop rate was absolutely horrific for me. Was doing this "with" Jarl Needs Eyes, but as I was done with that in only a few kills, it turned into a good half-hour grind for this venom.

I found that the spiders outside the Darkmist Cavern didn't drop any of the Sacs, but lots of eyes. The ones inside the mine dropped sacs at about 30% rate. I don't know if the ones inside the mine also drop the eyes because I has all of the eyes by that time. I'd suggest killing a path to the mine and grinding for the sacs there.

Horrible drop rating , but kill the ones inside the cave. Its the best dropping rate that you can get

roughly 90% i would say
and i killed only those outside. I guess i was "lucky"

This can now be dropped by the spider NW of Brackenwall Village. Do it same as you do Jarl needs Eyes!

Drop rate is incorrect, I've killed more than 15 of these spiders and no single drop of Acidic Venom Sac. Abandoned Quest and moved on...

If your Quest Add-On tells you to go kill the Spiders in the North by the cave, ignore it. It drops from the Darkfang spiders/lurkers/etc that are all arround the map.

Killing the level 35-36 spiders resulted in a droprate of 1 in 25 kills. Not anything near what the "dropped by" section indicates.
When I switched to the 38-39 spiders, the droprate was 1 in 2 kills for me; these mobs probably accurately drop 1 in 3 kills like the "dropped by" section indicates and I just got lucky.
I did not try the higher level giant darkfang spiders.

So don't abandon, just kill the right mobs.

I had good luck with the Giant Darkfang Spider in the hills along the west side of the bay. Better than a 50% drop rate

In WOTLK Classic the previous top rated comment proved untrue for me. Questie marked the spiders all around the map as able to drop the venom sacs but after 30 spider kills not one dropped. I reread the quest text and it specifies "Darkmist Spiders" which you can find to the north of Brackenwall Village. The drop rate was very nice at this spot on Darkmist Spiders and I completed the quest easily. This is the same spot/spiders that you get the unpopped eyes from for another quest from Brackenwall Village.

As of 26/05/23 on WOTLK - you're only interested in the Spiders in the North by the cave. Over an hour of grinding and not a single drop from alllll the others that Questie told me I could loot from. I went to the cave, killed about 10 mobs, got 5/5.
