I don't remember which patch this was implemented, but warriors can now spec to be impossible to disarm. Each talent point is 50% chance. Leaves you room for other enchants on your weapon. Best part is that the talent is bound to you, therefore affects any and all weapons that you use.

Right. Its called Weapon Mastery and requires 25 points in Arms talents to use... then 2 more to learn so if you are Arms spec'd you probably will still carry a weapon with a chain for when you need it.

Wrong. Not all of us are warriors... so we cant have the talent points to prevent disarming
I found this recipie off of Elder Mistvale Gorillas in Mistvale Valley in STV
I was not even trying to get it (I did not know it even exsisted until i got it) and it took my between 9 and 10 hours of killing the gorillas...
The drop rate for SM is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY LOW and id say its even lower for things like Elder Mistaves, and this is without doubt one of the hardest to obtain recipies in the game...
Do not auction this item off (the high gold at once may tempt you but DONT!)
Use it... its a virtual gold mine
In less than 2 and a half weeks i made 250g off of tips alone (and another 50-100g from selling the ones i made with my materials)(which imo is excellent expecially for a profession below 250) and i am one of the few if not the only one who posses it on the Ysera Server (Thorandric)...
Point Being its more profitable in the long run to use it than it is to auction the plans themselves

Not all of us are warriors, and even those that are might not be spec. in arms.

This is a good pvp weapon add, and it is well worth it (any weapon enchantment that will be useful at higher lvls (like 70) will cost a good bit of gold while this will cost no more than 10 gold

Edit: If you read my post from "Plans - Steel Weapon Chain" Then you know that i could make them. I have recently quit blacksmithing therefore i no longer posses the ability to craft them.

This weapon enhancement is great for anyone who hates the dreadful pirate disarms when trying to grind out lvls. And while the price was steep for the plans 350g on my server {ravencrest} its amazing for a blacksmith. Gotta love the tips!!!

yea i recently found this plan in a chest in Sm in the grave yard and not knowing how rare it was auctioned it off, but luckily i had no buy out on the item but only got about 19 gold from it

I heard a rumor that you can apply this to your offhand weapon, and it still makes it impossible for your main hand to be disarmed. Can anyone confirm or deny this please?

I just got one from a guild mate, he said it wouldn't work on offhand. So i got it on main hand weapon.

Later I tested it with a warrior, he couldn't disarm me when I held the chained weapon in offhand.

I've seen the price of the recipe go up to 150g on eredar since the recipes are so rare, i want the recipe so badly but i can't afford that much : /

I got it yesterday in Uldaman (server=Runetotem), in one of the chambers not too far away from the Temple of Doom room. It was dropped by a non-boss opponent.

None in the party I was in had ever heard of this recepi, so the excitement was high. Luckily for me, I was the only BS in the party, so it went to me (in return of a solid promise to make chains for all the other party-members).

Even tough the selling-price (recepi) on AH is high, I believe it is better to learn it, and sell the chains in AH afterwards. It has to be said though, that you have to be BS (190) to put them on. Or know someone who is BS (190) who will do it for you!

If a warrior fights vs other warrior the first thing to do is disarm, what is a very stupid and strong spell but finally i discovered this chain, its very cool to kik ass vs humans warriors and for pvp

hehe...i know it's been said a dozen times in this thread but i figured i'd say it again just incase there was any question.

Bought one in AH and had a RL friend that does blacksmithing throw it on one of my weapons. He didn't think that the effect would work in the off-hand. So i equiped it in off-hand and we dueled (i'm 47, he's a 60 warrior)

Yes if you attach the Chain to your offhand the effect still carries on through to your main hand. only your main hand can be disarmed.

I am alliance on Firetree making these for 6g a pop. Friend got the plans drop in Uldaman and gave to me because i am a blacksmih, only he didnt know how much the plans go for.

I just got the plans off the AH for 25g. I've only seen them before for over 100g so I'm assuming that someone didnt know what they were worth. Well, good for me, bad for them.

for warriors the chain is not needed if you use the arms tree of your talents. theres a talent where you can become immune and still get enchants on your weapons.

And where is the best place for this to drop?
ive never seen the plans and would love to learn it

Would such an item override a preexisting BSmith work like Iron Counterweight? Or is a better plan to attach the chains to 1h weapons and keep Counterweights on 2hs?

I have researched it and this is the rarest smithing recipie in the game. In Scarlet Monestary Areas it has a 0.000% Drop Rate and in places other than SM the rate is lower than that. Before the Expansion was release the price of this sold for 700g+ and after that the price was reduced because of warriors new spec however it is still very high. I myself got it after 9 hours of leveling off of Elder Mistvale Gorillas in Mistvale Valley, outside of Booty Bay (In Stranglethorn Vale). As tempting as it may be do not sell this recipie, USE IT! In less than 2 weeks i have made around 250g off of tips alone and another 50g selling them with my mats, and they keep selling good. From this you can clearly see that its a goldmine recipie and thats excellent money for any profession below 250...

Once you reach 70... there are very few enchantments that will be of any use (however some like mongoose will still be useful but that is very expensive, and this is only about 5g for the mats.

Your Mats- 5g to attach (mention tips, but do not require)

The day has finally come, Weapon mastery has been hit by the nerfbat, in patch 2.3 its becoming 25/50% chance to become immune to disarm making it another Improved rend talent, expect the sale of these to skyrocket

Lightning-strikes-twice department - my other blacksmith just found the recipe for this on Thunderhorn's AH... for 1.75g! Woo hoo! So keep an eye out on your own auction houses...

a disarmed tank is worthless.

it is the single most aggrevating thing ive come accross. screw a weapon enchant, if you dont have steelgrip gauntlets, this is a great solution. even if you have a secondary weapon just for instances with disarm, its a cheap solution.

These are nerfed as of 2.3 as well; all disarm immunity is gone replaced by reduced disarm duration. Thanks, Blizz.

Is the new patch going to change this items ability. I have been looking all over the wow website to see what patch 2.3 is going to change and i have found nothing about the steel weapon chain, how ever there was something about a adamantite weapon chain.

I think in patch 2.3 this item will reduce the disarm time by 50%.

Maguson on horder side Altar of Storms can craft. Will probably put some up on neutral auction house also

Does this stack with the "Weapon Mastery" on fury tree? If so it should give immunity, since weapon master gives -50% duration and so does this ... -100% duration = 0 time. Anyone know?

If you have 2, one-handed weapons, each with a chain, it stacks- making the disarm duration 25% of the original time.

I am warrior/BS and tried it.

Where can i get the blueprint for this? I'm a 205 blacksmith on Shandris server and it was not offered from the trainer so i take that its bought from an npc. But which one and where?

Notice the item says it Requires Blacksmithing. Any BS with 190+ skill can apply this to any weapon via the Trade Window. It can be be added to others peoples equipment the same way an Enchanter would apply enchants to an item.

I do know that it will overide any enchants that you have on the weapon, so I assume it would do the same for counterweight. I have the chain on 2 of my weapons and I can tell you that it's worth it.

if you place a steel weapon chain on EITHER main or off hand , or on a 2 handed weapon, you will be IMMUNE to disarm by either NPC or player in PVP on any weapons you are currently equipping.

eg:
julies dagger off hand with barman shanker weapon damage...it is impossible for me to be disarmed by anything in the game.

it will replace any other enchantments you have on the weapon, such as weapon damage, beastslaying...etc.
BUT,
you can still add poison, sharpening stones , etc as these are not enchantments.

U better believe I'll get rich off this baby. Either I'll sell the recipe for 300+g or i'll sell the "enchants" for 5g a piece. If u happen to have a *uckload of money and u need it eg. for yer endgame guild this is what u want. Read it, it says IMUNITY even if placed on offhand weapon!
No more pesky rogues disarming yer TUF no more warriors maiming u to bits cuz u cant stun em without yer weapon... You like BG? Trust me this is the stuff - Crusader enchant, BAAAH! Put it on yer mainhand and my twink enchant on offhand. Then get NUKIN'

From What I was told by a Rogue today when I asked why he put a chain on his offhand (as Disarm only disarms a main hand or 2H weapon) he said it makes you immune period. I dont agree with that setup and Hope its a bug that should be fixed. if you are going to have this on your weapon to prevent disarm it should only be put on a mainhand weapon imo.

I have heard that this effect makes the wearer totally immune to disarms, can anyone confirm or deny? The application would be for dual wielders, where having the chain on the off-hand would be enough to stop disarms even on the main-hand weapon.

well, think about this, Stronhold Gauntlets have "Passive: Immune to Disarm" and these are gloves, so, putting a weapon chain on the offhand might have the same effect. since you don't "disarm" the gloves when you're disarmed, then it should do the same thing. either this is right, or i'm completly wrong.

It's an normal enchant, any Blacksmith with skill 190+ can place this on a weapon. And, if you place this offhand you're totally immune to disarm, like Ressin allready said.

I can make them on Kargath - German Server - Horde.
Price is usually 5g for Horde, send ingame mail to Chaos if you need one :).

I heard on the WoW boards that all items that currently give "Immune to Disarm" will be nerfed to "Reduce Disarm duration by 50%" when patch 2.3 is implemented.

Even the new "Adamantite Weapon Chain" that will debut in that patch does not give an immunity to disarm.

It was nice while it lasted...
