the alliance verson of the sword of omens it is ubtained by slaying 4 bosses in SM. slower then the sword of omens it makes a better main hand weapon.
how ever its stats more favor a paladin over a full melee class.

Great sword got it withe the help of a lvl 70 adn i duel weild with teh vanquishers sword got it at 35 and still usin it at lvl 46 about ti replace it though a must go and get

Sword of Serenity and Vanquisher's Sword make for a decent and easily obtainable dual wield combination at level 40. At least for hunters. Rogues and warriors might want different though.

As a 35 pally, I've been thinking to get his sword in place of the Vanquisher's Sword or not....I have lots of Guildies to help me through lots of dungeons, quests, etc. , so I don't think it'll be that hard.

For every 1H'er of this calibur, and this one is decent for stats/DPS, there are about 4-7 2H'ers. Keep that in mind before taking the Axe.

It's from and Alliance SM quest, sorry Horde, but you guys seem to like your Sword of Omen just fine.

I have this im a 43 hunter i aquired it at 38 and i also have (Vanquishers Sword) which has the same dps which works out nicely

both the Vanquishers sword quest and the Sword of serenity quests start in SW in the Cathedral then you go to desolace and then to south shore and then they send you to SM

Even as a rogue i would still stick with the Sword in your main hand. USe daggers in the off-hand with high speed to dish out poison. With a slow weapon in the off-hand u wont dish out as much dps as with a slow weapon in the main hand and a dagger in the off-hand. U can still cheap shot and go to SS and Evic with a dagger in the off hand. Not to mention when it comes to grinding this way is much quicker. Rogues pick the swords cuz there are some decent dagger drops in SM like the Hypnotic Blade that is a good blue dagger. Its a lvl 39 drop but that in the off-hand along with the Sword of Serenity in the main. So rogues just stick with Sword/mace in the main and dagger in the off-hand to dish out poisons and any extra dps u can get. Remember you will miss more often with your off-hand therefore u want a faster weapon.

ok, This quest gives Sword of Serenity or Black menace

For a rogue that is..,

Choosing between the Sword of Serenity and Black Menace could be a tough choice to make if you don't have anything better and don't have many friends to help you in WOW..

Alot of Rogues, including my self picked the Sword of Serenity because of the high Sinister Strike it can dump.

Most of SS and Evis Rogues like my self need a high Damage weapon in MainHand and a fast dagger in Offhand. For that reason alot of rogue are using the Sword of Serenity.

However, i now beleive it was a mistake.
Yes this sword deal great SS damage but i have noticed that its a lot easier to find a good sword in the game than it is with dagger (atleast on my server).

You can get the Vanquisher Sword from a quest that is alot more easier to do than doing 4 instances in Scarlet Monastry.

Once you pick the Sword of Serenity you have to say goodbye to Blackmenace because theire both from the same quest which you can only do once.

Now that you have the Sword of serenity you will need a dagger. BUT getting a Blue Dagger equal value to the Black Menace can be a pain depending on which server you play...especially if youre 30-40 and not guilded..
The price on Dagger are sky high if there is one for sale. Most of them are random drop that means you gona camp for days until you find one and if you do find one, you might be already too strong for it.
Unless youre in a guild, and theyre willing to help you farm your dagger, otherwise you won't get a dagger as easely as you get a sword.

If youre a rogue, i highly suggest you pick the Black Menace for your offhand and then head to BFD to get the Vanquisher sword for your main hand. That sword is easy to get.

This isnt about what is best, but about whats the easiest way to grind your way up. To eventually dual Dagger in pvp.

This quest starts in Desolace. Speek With "Brother Anton" at Nijel's Point. There you got A quest where you have to kill 30 undead ravagers. These are found in the valley south-west of the Magram Village. after that quest you gotta speak with Raleigh the Devout. Then kill High Inquisitor Whitemane: 0/1 (found in Cathedral)
Scarlet Commander Mograine: 0/1 (found in Cathedral
Herod: 0/1 (found in Armory)
Houndmaster Loksey: 0/1 (found in Library) in Scarlet Monastery. Choose Sword of Serenity
or Bonebiter
or Black Menace
or Orb of Lorica.

in the case of warriors, dont waste your time doing this quest for bonebiter. You can get the like 10 lvl's earlier and it is almost identical. I solo'd the kill 30 undead ravagers part with ease at 40 and did all 3 instances with a group consisting of lvl 35-40. Mind you it got a little hairy at points, but with a good priest/druid on top of healing you should be fine. My only regret is not knowing about this quest earlier as i did SM like a million times before going through and completing the quest.

ps. SM drops some pretty sweet 1h weapons (in one instance i got knightly longsword of the bear and greater scythe of the bear ) I understand this was just luck but it would make a great counterpart weapon for the sword of serenity

Lately, there has been some tanks who have come out advocating the use of daggers over swords for faster aggro generation...

So my question here is, have their been any warrs out there that have gotten the Black Menace and used it for tanking, and if so, what was the experience with it?

I got this sword 2 days ago and it helps. Yesterday I got the Vanquinshers Sword. Same damge same dps. these swords r twins..Heres how to get the Sword of Serenity

Go to Stormwind Cathedral of Light and go a little of the right..Its sorta hidden Speak with the Scarlet Crusade Woman. Thrn go to Desolace..if u dont have a Flight Path to Desolace..Go to Booty bay and use the map. Brother Anton is not hard to see...Hes on the biggest tower and after u talk to him he says to kill Undead Ravengers on The South Eastern side on the map...if u go South Western. ull find Feralas..not a good place to be. KIll 30 of the Undead Ravengers then return to Brother Anton and he tells u to go to southshore(Hillsbrad)and when u give him the note..he'll burn it. Then he'll ask u to do the quest that involves 3 out of 4 parts of SM. Library, Armory, and Cathedral. After all that. U can choose ur reward {Sword Of Serenity, Bonebiter, Black Menace, and the orb of something..i forgot lol}Vhala! u got a few thing that u can keep for a long time

personaly i prefer to get the pvP wepons or class specific weps but Sword of Serenity is pretty good. the only thing is at its level i wouldent use it long.

AHHH im at a debate. i just paid 5g for tainted peirce. when i do this quest i have to pick between Black Menace and this. Im a combat sword spec rogue.

im currently weilding

tainted Pierce=main hand

Toxic revenger=Off hand.

i want to keep tainted peirce so ima go for this and have this in main and tainted in off

This is a must have if u wanna dual weild. u should get vanquisher's sword along with this. ill get a pic of my dwarf warrior dual weilding with those soon.

I put this in the Vanq thread, but I'll put it here, too. It technically doesn't matter which one is in your main. They're the same speed and do the same damage per hit. The only thing that would make a difference is if you have an enchant that procs upon hitting, in which case you'd put that in your main.

Sword over axe for sure.... other 2hs to consider: Nightblade, Pendulum of Doom, Ravager(or whatever its called), and morgraine's might(or however you spell the retards name).

Quest

Quest for this weapon will initially start in the Stormwind Cathedral who will tell you to talk to a Scarlet Emissary in Desolace, however you do not have to do this step! You can simply start at the Scarlet Emissary in Desolace at Nijels Point in Top middle north Desolace. This man will give you a quest called: Down the Scarlet Path.

Down the Scarlet Path Part 1:

He will tell you to travel to far south desolace and kill 30 Undead Ravagers. as a hunter and a Pally it is easiest and with both those classes I would suggest starting at level 34, all others should find it approachable at level 35. It is a tough grind but it is doable at those low levels. Once finished run back to the Scarlet Emissary

Down the Scarlet Path Part 2:

He will now tell you to travel to Southshore to Raleigh the Devout. I would suggest going there by flying to Auberdine then taking boat to menethil and flying to Southshore.

In the Name of the Light:

This man will burn the letter you have given him and tell you to kill:

Houndmaster Loksey in Scarlet Library.
In the room with the trees and dogs ina little sub-room to the side. He has 3 adds so be careful but is quite simple with a good tank.

Herod in Scarlet Armory.
Fairly easy boss in the last room in Armory. Need the Scarlet Key. Just watch out for when he yells "Blades of Light!" and run away if you are melee.

Mograine and Whitemane in The Scarlet Cathedral.
These bosses are easy but when Mograine dies Whitemane will come and when on 10% will sleep all and res him, then she will heal herself to full. Relatively easy if you have a well balanced group.

Pallys, warriors, Hunters and rogues

Warrior

This can be useful for tanking has average speed and lots of stamina although spirit is useless. Can also help for fury warriors d/w with Vanquishers sword. although no str it has good Dps. Arms warriors it depends what 2H u are currently using or planning to use because u might end up taking bonebiter. Now, Ravager can be good for tanking but I would prefer to have a tank with a 1H/Shield.

Paladin

Omg this is a godly Paladin tanking weapon, due to the stamina and the spirit which can come in handy. I tanked with this weapon for ages and ages. Ret pallies get this too, u want Ravager because it is a slow weapon and therefore helps with SoC (not to mention the hardcore SoC procs u can get when Ravager spins), I'm taking 2H into account because many pallies might decide Bonebiter and this is with the same quest.

Rogue

If ur a dagger rogue grab the dagger and Coldrage dagger off the lich in RFD. If a combat rogue u will be deciding whether to use Vanq in Main hand and this in off hand or Vanq in main and the dagger from this quest (or Coldrage dagger in offhand). Although SoS and Vanq sword both have exactly the same speed and are practically twins, if u have the money, wack fiery on both and U will have Imba dps. On my rogue I used double mongoose because makes you do a lot of damage, and when I say a lot, I mean a lot.

Edit: the comment below, i think about 5 down? is right. It is good to have a slow main hand for bigger sinister strike damage like protectors sword

Hunter

Hunters should probably pick this and Vanq sword before replacing with Grimlocks Charge from Ulda. It can help having the attack power from Vanq sword. Oh and if u don't like the lack of +agi then put 15 agi on it. This may come as a problem to many hunters who don't have that much money. But these two weapons can help in PvP a lot from the +stam and the +AP

39 rogue twink

Horde

Same goes with horde and Sword of Omen which can be useful in tanking, Especially with rogues (off hand) hunters and Warriors. Pallys use SoO for tanking too. Don't have any horde toons but I think you just grab th quest from Varimathiras in the Undercity

Please don't flame me for this being so long just trying to be helpful to any noobz out there who are lost and need to know everything about this sword.

I'm just gonna do this quest and vendor the rewards. Why? Because I would rather have Vanquisher Sword. More rogueish stats. At 2.2 speed, its a fairly fast sword. Put that in my OH, and get something like the WSG blade for my main hand. Why? Cause I plan on going sword spec. IMO the extra chance of getting an attack of my OH, which will hit fast, is pretty nice.

Just got this bad boy for my Warrior (started the instance at level 34, got the sword at 35 =] ). The 30 DPS and +9 Stamina make this a great weapon for a tank.

compared to the one from the RFD quest....i think ill go with the sword of sernity.......im a dwarf pally.....holy spec......34...so the spirit is nice.....i think its easier to get too.....u can get it at lvl 34.....when the quest is availible.....the vanquishers sword is only availible at lvl 37.....when u get the quest.....and all the sm instances dont take long at all.......30 min max each.....and ther r some sweet mail drops in SM as well.......now all i need is a decent shield.......thermapluggs central core? plz tell me there is better thn tht

Just sayin, but I picked up a Furious Falchion of the Tiger from the AH for not too much gold, and its DPS is 1 higher than the Sword. So I took the dagger, 'cause the enchant can't hurt and its DPS is really nice for a dagger that speed.

its true horde weapon is better its not vanquishers both horde and alliance have that quest,, but it is Sword of Omen go search it and u will see better stats and better speed

Yea I used to dual weild this and Vanquisher's and I pwned hard if I don't say so myself, I just got Phantom Blade and I chose the vanquisher's over serenity cause it's a better combat rogue wep. :( I do have to say i miss my serenity though.

GO to Descolace, speak with the Scarlet Emissary there, he will send you on a quest to kill 30 skeletons. Return to him and he will give you a quest to kill the bosses in 3 out fo the 4 Scarlet Monastery Instances, after you return to him, he will award you this sword.

Imho the reward for the horde quest is better, as you get vanquisher sword wich has the same dmg as this, but better stats. This sword has some shabby stats compared 2 the horde one. So go horde!

i use this with the fiery blaze enchant (from this quest : Fiery Blaze Enchantments )

and its good for tanking as the unpredictable effects of the enchant draws aggro, and with the shield in the other hand its fine.. Can get "interesting" sometimes.. but its fun

Can a level 29 twink rogue get this?
Im trying to find a weapon i can get the Moongoose Enchant on and so far this is the only weapon i can find since there are no daggers that are 35+ quest rewards.

First off, you need to find the Scarlet Emissary in Stowmwind cathederal- hes in a little side room and you can't miss him if you explore.
The second quest you need to do is 'down the scarlet path' in the badlands. You get it from a guy in a scarlet uniform in Nijels Point, you can't miss him if you look around. The quest involves sneaking past alot of level 40 mobs to kill some level 37-38 undeads. I managed it very easily as a level 36 warrior.
On completion of that your told to go to Southshore in hillsbrad, and talk to a guy who nearly burns the frikking inn down then gives you the quest.
So, no Stormwind whatsoever.

To get the quest you need to talk to a human in Nijels point Desolace, he is in the inn near the edge of the cliff the inn is placed.

He will send you to a place right south of magram village. the gibs are lvl 37-38 and necroes at lvl 40 who will summon more gibs.
This place is also used by another quest so be careful if you start seeing magram ghosts.
A priest @ lvl 36 had no probs with this quest(holy/dis specced) but you need to be careful.

After you return the quest he continues to brag about his crusade and tells you to visit southshore to talk to a guy, he will be in the second floor of the inn. He will tell you that the dude in Nijels are outdated on information and that you have to travel to the monastry and kill the leaders there.

And if you are a rogue, get the dagger.
If you want to walk around with sword then get the Vanquisher sword
