The speed boost is a 60% increase.

The boots don't always explode as soon as you activate them, sometimes it's mid-sprint.

Also notable, you aren't S.O.L. if they explode. They leave a crate of mats similar to Target Dummies, complete with a chance at Fused Wiring.

These boots have no level requirement, but are item level 45.
This makes them eligible for TBC enchants such as +12 stamina, +12 agility, and +9 stamina Minor Speed. This way these enchants can be used by a character under level 30, possibly even as low as 1.

Right clicking the buff that the boots give you at 1 second left does not keep them from exploding. every second the buff is active there is a chance of them exploding -

5 minute cool down is terrific for pvp. Make a couple of these to always have a replacement ready and stock the materials needed to remake them when they backfire.

According to Telo's Clock the boots give 70% speed increase. Faster than a lvl 40 mount. I guess I used mine too often, so they exploded after the 10th use. You will get this item: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=18486/mooncloth-robe
After opening it you get some of your stuff back. I got the mageweave boots, the mithril stuff and the heavy leather back.

They dont hurt you when they explode, but they knock you down for 1 sec.

Breaks all the time. Gone through 4 pairs, pair1(6 uses), pair2(2 uses), pair3(1use) and pair4(broke on first try). Completely worthless.

I did a pair of these funny looking boots for mi Gildmate yesterday! He is Tailor and made me the black magewave boots that i needed.

He was the experiment animal... hehe....

He used it one time and everything worked well... he was speeding around and his feets where on fire... its really funny to look at...

The 2nd try he tryed if he can use the boots and the sprint (rogue). I didn't think that would work, but the awesome detail was... its adding up the speed of the boots with the sprint speed...so he was about double the speed of sprinting! Unfortunately they explode right after that experiment...

And the best thing about these ones are that they can used by non - engineers!

I love them little green friends... such a destructive power they have... hehehe...

Cripes, I just spent 3g on boots that will break? Wonderful. I FRICKIN' ENCHANTED THEM! With +10% speed!

On the plus side, though they're on the same timer as the Nifty Stopwatch, it seems that they stack with Swiftness Potions.

I have used goblin rocket boots over 20times whitout exploding. You have to just cancel the effect faster, I use 5-10sec and then I cancel it.

I think that it is really stupid that these boots blow up. However I have found that it is right about if you use them for only 15 seconds or less and then unclick them that they wont blow up. I think that it's stupid they blow up anyways. Blizzard made it so Goblin Jumper Cables wouldn't explode, why can't they do it for all the other things too. Goblin Rocket Boots are great for capturing the flag in Warsong Gulch though. I think they are really good except they explode. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

I think these are good if you're an engineer (Or, in my case, have an engineer alt), since you can just get the base materials back after they explode and remake them. The only bad part is the Goblin Rocket Fuel.

For us engineers, we can keep both in our bags and use them. I am goblin so I can recreate my broken boots. So far I get the Mageweave boots back most of the time. They have gotten me out of lots of trouble (and into some more). If I don't wanna fight you, you get Rocket Helmed and I speed away on my boots. That's the plan anyways.

spent 6g on a pair of these, unknown to me ofc that they are prone to exploding, i saw them and thought "they will be real nice for WSG" and blammo, they explode within 6 seconds of the first use, i got mageweave boots and thick leather back, i guess i wont trying them again soon , just lucky im pretty well off on that server or it wouldnt have been funny

They really are. 50-70% is usually salvagable (excluding the fuel), and I almost always get the mageweave boots back.

Their explosion rate is very random. I've had pairs that blew up after two tries, my current pair is on it's seventh use. Of course, these should be used sparingly, since every time they go bye-bye we're talking about 1-2g lost. But if you're a lvl 45-60 pvp'er, they are WELL worth the price. Paladin flagrunners in WSG running at 170% speed with shield on? It should be a STANDARD.

I can make these with my 39 pally. There is no lvl requirements and 41 armor on a lvl 19 is huge. Plus because they are considered a lvl 45 item you can put a rugged armor patch on giving you a total of 81 armor. have them on my lvl 19 priest.

OK. Here is the difference between the goblin and gnomish boots.
Goblin boots- you run at 70% speed, however they have a fair chance of blowing up. It is also only a 5 minute cooldown
Gnomish boots: Increases your speed by 50% and the cooldown is 1/2 an hour, but when they malfunction they are not destroyed.

Basicaly Goblin boots are faster with shorter cooldown, Gnomish boots are safer with longer cooldown.

Great in pvp but randomly explodes, mine exploded after the 8th activation.

Even if you stop the buff before the end it doesn't matter. every second its active its rolling a dice to see whether it blows up or not.

Very fun but horribly bad value for money when they explode.

personally, i have been through many pairs. BUT... this is not a problem, since if you supply your guildies with pairs of boots in exchange for simple mats (the mageweae boots only=15 mageweave cloth, 2 heavy silken thread, and 2 thick leather; get a skinner in the guild (he can also supply the heavy leather you'll need!) and get mageweaves as drops, and buy the thread in the shop, boom, black mageweave boots. i have a personal supplier who i send mats and he makes em). get an alchemist in your guild, help em get olatile rum from pirates and firebloom from the searing gorge-there is you good supply of rocket fuel. have mining and get your own mithril (7 bars per set, could be worse). i have made over 20 sets, and currently have 4 of my guildies, myself included, equipped for WSG OWNAGE. i also have 3 extra pairs should 1 of theirs blow up, and i have extra fuel and other mats in case one of theirs does blow up, so i can trade and make a new set right away (and this is ALL FREE). the result? a mage that has defilers talisman, rocket boots, grabs flags, frost nova's, blinks, then uses stopwatch=scoring ownage. AND THE BEST PART....only 5 min cooldown, makes it ideal for WSG runs.

It says they explode, and you folks say they explode, but I must be insanely lucky. I've gotten over 30 full uses so far out of a single pair, and they have yet to explode.
These babies have saved the day in battlegrounds on many occasions, plus they're fun as heck, I use them in travel all the time (level 39, no mount yet) and they look really neat equipped.

These boots are a must have for non-speed enchanced flag capturers in WSG. Unfortunately they're expensive, not always easy to find in AH, and they explode way too often. The damage isn't bad but the gnomish rocket boots are better value for those with enough engineering.

There is no schematic, you learn theese as a goblin engineer from the goblin engineeer trainer in gadgetzan,

As for the boots, i made a pair and had 2 uses outta them, i think blizz should remove the boots destroying themselves and just make it a dmg an stun, like the Xtreme version

after getting these on my druid and using them, i have to say i am disgusted. i wasnt going to mind the rare explosion but they explode too much. here are my rates before i stopped remaking.
got 4 uses first time before they exploded.
remade to have them explode on me first click.
remade again to have them explode on me second use.

this isnt worth the trouble for an engineer, at least not for me. im going to settle for gnomish boots, longer cooldown, and random fear, but they never explode. when it comes to luck, i just dont have any, so i have to stay with insurance. i was using both, using gnomish first then these in between the cooldown of gnomish, but now im just going to use gnomish.

as for getting these as non engineer, you could get them and use them, dont require engineering to use, but dont expect much because explode rate is very common, or was for me anyway. i was thinking they would have explode rate like the jumper cables, which is rare, but they dont. explode like every other use. on a side note, if you dont mind sinking mithril/fuel, they ALWAYS save the mageweave boots and the heavy leather. you will never have to replace the mageweave boots or the heavy leather, they will always be salvaged. the fuel is never salvaged, and the tube/trigger is random. remaking these will only sink your mithril and fuel supplies.

they get you where you want to go a LOT faster

I have these on my level 2, they have never exploded in about 25 uses due to my level. They are also item level 45, so you can use all Outland enchants on them.

I have used these for 2 days with my 38 hunter, that makes around 10-20 uses. No going BOOM and with aspect of the cheetah and these babies I can outrun escaping mounted lvl 40+ enemy. Love these.

oh i see, these dont require engineering to use. i missed that somehow. but if you are an engineer you should stay with gnomish, even if you are goblin, just find someone to make you gnomish, if you have all things its easy to get it made, and since they dont blow up, you wont have to do it again. these look like profit to sell to non engineers, and since they will blow up sooner or later, they'll have to come back to buy again:), goblin wasnt kidding when it said it was for profit!

i also notice this has no lvl requirement.... i think it would be funny to see a lvl2 warrior or something suddenly go ZOOM.

I used my GRB's to some good effect in Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin. They helped me catch up to the enemy flag grabber, or get to a flag first. However, (probably just bad luck) they always seemed to fizzle out if I grabbed the flag.

The speed increase only lasts for 20 seconds. That's just long enough to get out of the enemy's flag room, or to reach the nearest resource in AB, however a hunter w/ Aspect of Cheetah, or Druid or Shaman will beat you to the other resources--BS, LM, GM, because they can sustain their speed longer, but you can get to the Farm or Stables first.

Most of the times that my boots failed, there was no explosion. They just kinda fizzled out about half way through the burn. I replaced the leather, one of the mithril tubes, the triger and the fuel several times. (I'v even been known to repair them at the Blacksmith shop in AB.) However, the last time they quit, I lost the Black Mageweave Boots as well. /cry

Hopefully, I will not get outbid on my new acquisition of the boots.

You can lose the boots. Just be aware of that.

One of the mats for these, the Black Mageweave Boots, is BoE. So if you use soulbound boots to craft the Rocket Boots, are the resulting boots soulbound?

There's a lot of confusion about this currently. There are basically four types of items that can be made by engineers:

BoE items that can be used by any engineer and traded.
BoP items that can be crafted by a specific specialization, but used by any engineer
Items that require a specific specialization to use.
BoP items that can be crafted by an engineer, but can be used even after engineering is dropped

Gnomish Engineering allows you to craft these items:

If your intent is to switch to Goblin after crafting all the goodies (by dropping and re-leveling Engineering), you should probably craft all of these items, but you must craft Gnomish Goggles, Gnomish Battle Chicken, Gnomish Death Ray, and Lil' Smoky (these are BoP) or you will lose access to these items permanently (unless you drop and re-level gnomish engineering again.

Ultrasafe Transporter: Gadgetzan and World Enlarger cannot be used by a non-gnomish engineer, so you can skip crafting these if you're planning on switching.

NOTE: Gnomish Death Ray doesn't require Engineering to use, so technically, you could level Engineering to craft this item, and drop it and still be able to use it.
