I've gotten this from the regualr and advanced target dummy. Just make a bunch of them, plant them somewhere (even in town) and wait a few minutes 'til they expire. Then loot their "corpse."

But even off of target dummies they don't drop often. But it's safer and faster than running around Gnomeregan.

So I read all of the messages on here and decided to give it a go...

I bought all the materials required and made 20 Advanced Target Dummies.

I used them all and had enough parts to make another 9 (minus 10 leather which I bought too). Used the 9 and had enough parts to make another 3 and after using those 3 I had enough parts to make another 2.

so... after spending 11g and watching 34 dummies explode, I have:

7 Fused Wiring
2 Heavy Leather
6 Bronze Framework
6 Iron Strut

came to thottbot to figure out where im gonna find a fused wiring, and after doing some searching here i tried the 1 option i read about "make a compact harvest reaper and loot it after it goes up in smoke" it netted me 2 iron struts 3 heavy leather and 1 fused wiring. First try!

I found a fused wiring in Gnomeregan. It was a grime-encrusted object, which I washed.
I knew how rare they are (my server is Shadowsong) and I made 5g on it!

Here's an idea. Instead of blowing 5G a pop on these stupid items, do this: buy a ton of gold power cores on AH for cheap(got 20 for 1G), build target dummies and harvest reapers, and let them get killed. Then salvage parts and you should get fused wiring quite often.

DONT buy, DONT grind Shredders in STV, DONT grind Arcane Nullifiers in Gnomeregan! Just grind Deadmines a LOT of times.... u get all the mats there for target dummies... Copper, Tin, Linen and Wool u can easily get in Deadmines and in the Goblin Foundry u can make all the target dummies u want. Then at VanCleef or another boss use them so they get killed and u dont have to w8 like 3 minutes. Also, the green items from Deadmines earn quite good too :)

I can confirm they still drop off Advanced Target Dummies. Got 1 off the first one I used.

I had never bothered worrying about these until I got the plans for Goblin Jumper Cables, I took the materials I had in the bank and made 12 of the lowest level target dummies hoping to get one fused wiring. I got the one I needed and five more by the time I dropped them all and the ones I made from the materials they dropped, probably 24 or so dummies total, guess I was lucky. Waiting for them to get to my Auction House character in mail now. Checked them out when I was starting this and there was one up for 3g bid no buyout, and stack of two for 7-14g, this is on the Steamwheedle Cartel RP server.

First time i ever got one of these it droped from a target dummy but i sold it to a vendor as I stupidly thought it was a usless item! Then 2 levels later i get the plans for the dragon trinket look up fused wiring on AH and there was 1 going for 8 g..... :(

I just bought a stack of 5 of these for 15s and then another stack of 2 for 30s

So basically got about 70g worth of items for 45s o.0

I made 16 advanced target dummies, and got about 5 fused wiring from them.

As well as the wiring, I would get more materials to make more dummies.

Instead of trying to farm them somewhere I think that's the best route to go.

Build advanced target dummies (I just stayed in town, set them up and waited the 15 seconds for them to expire to loot them)

Used a few, sold the rest for close to 10g each.

Just thought I'd add my 2-cents. I think Fused Wiring is the best/easiest money maker if you are patient. AND helps you level quicker!
(results may vary)

1 - Take an Alt and lvl him quickly to 85 Engineering, and learn Target Dummies.

2 - 'Home' him in Thunder Bluff. (Bank, AH, Anvil are all close)

3 - Have your Main (or Mid-High lvl Alt you are running at the time) supply him with about 10g.

4 - All this Alt does is buy Copper Bars, Linen Cloth and Wool Cloth in Bulk. Look for good prices! Have the Alt make STACKS of Target Dummies. (10 per stack).

5 - Send the TDs to the charater you're running the most. USE THEM! For me as a hunter this gives me easy acces to mobs 3 to 4 lvls above me because I can balance the Threat with my Pet/Target Dummy.

6 - I get fused wiring about 1 every 4 to 5 dummies. Sometimes better, sometimes worse.

7 - Once I get a stack of 5 I either send them back to my Alt in TB, or I put them up myself depending on where I am at.

Notes: Save your wool cloth. I can justify buying the copper bars every time, wool cloth can get expensive, but is easy to farm. Also, I am not greedy. I find that if I use the Trade channel and sell 5x stack for 20g (which is usually well under the AH price) that I never have to wait more than 1 minute for reply. My 2 cents, but it's a system that works well for me! Good Luck!

As an engineer, I was short of fused wiring all the time. I made the simple target dummies, and tried several locations and techniques to increase the loot rate of fused wiring. Finally, I thought I had the best way: In Westfall, the northern murloc camp at the coast. If I collected 3 or 4 of the murlocs, dropped a Target dummy and ran away, I got a fused wiring pretty often, I thought.

My boyfriend did not belive in this strategy, and said that it was just coincidence. We dropped target dummies everywhere, and the droprate was similar. So the term "Murloc theory" was born, and sneaked into the language of our family. So if someone makes a statement now about a correlation based on guesses, small amount of repetitions or plain gut feeling, it is very fast revealed as a "Murloc theory"! And it has also made our kids more aware of that not everything is as it seems :-)

Here are some of my favorite Murloc theories (rejected) about Fused wiring drop rates:

1. The drop rate is best if the level of the beasts killing the dummy is slightly lower than the dummy level. If they are too high level, the dummy is smashed so hard that the wiring is destroyed.

2. Newly made, "fresh" dummies have a better drop rate than old dummies. This can be because the wiring is stuck in old dummies by rust etc.

3. The drop rate increases if someone else made the dummies, eg. Blizzard want to stimulate cooperation.

4. The drop rate increases with the skill of the engineer making them. Skilled engineers are better at making dummies than low lvls.

5. The drop rate is better close to large cities, and especially near AH and anvils. Maybe because it is there they are going to be used afterwards (but that could also be because they are fresh, see theory 2....)

6. And, the original one: Dummies killed by murlocs, and especially those north in Westfall, gives more fused wiring than usual (but that can also be because they are closest to Stormwind, see theory 5....)

But the final conclusion are: The drop rate of fused wiring is about 1:7, it is like rolling a dice with 7 surfaces, and it doesn't matter where you are and if someone hits the dummies. Make a stack of target dummies and go fishing, cook food or melt copper and fire a dummy whenever they are ready.

I made about 16 Advanced Target Dummys yesterday.
Got 6 Fused Wirings from em and already sold 3 for 5g each.Im on Bloodfeather.Those things are easy to make if you fish in Desolace, Heavy Leather is a usual drop from the chests i catch.
Im a miner too so i think i know how to spend my mats now =).

P.S. my only problem so far was Heavy Leather, there wasnt a single stack on AH yesterday.

To get fused wires, I just carry around some masterwork target dummies . Anytime that I agro to many monsters, I just throw one down. It helps me survive a fight, and it drops a fused wiring. I haven't kept track of how many I've used, but it's more than a dozen, and every single one has dropped one. Maybe I'm just lucky, I don't know. Masterwork target dummies are pretty expensive, but selling the fused wirings, or at least not having to buy one if I need one, offsets the cost. Fused wiring are used in making Field repair bots which come in handy, and explode after one use, so, you will need a lot of fused wiring if you plan on raiding.

you ppl say that it drops more off the advanced target dummies but realy it has the same chance as a basic one. ok so instead of paying mad gold to make the advanced ones just pay the same ammount of gold to make about 10 times more basic dummies.

According to the patch notes for patch 2.1.0, schematics for engineers to craft thier own fused wiring will available in Winterspring and Shattrath. No longer will you need to farm for them.

Since many people farm Primal Fires for about 25-30g on about every server, and all fire elementals drop this, seems like the price should go down... It's around 2g on my server but it will lower soon.

if the fused wireing recipie isnt there you can go "at war" with everlook and kill the vendor (loose like 20 rep who cares) and on respawn he will have all his limited supply recipies. just take off "at war" once you killed him and are out of combat.

I attempted to buy this from each NPC for months. It never was there.
This morning I killed Fizzbolt in Winterspring by using the at war trick mentioned here.
I waited about 5 minutes for him to respawn and bought the Schematic for 1g 60s :)

Is it just me or is this thing dropping like crazy from an ordinary Target Dummy? I started playing as a gnome on Shadowsong after a years break from WoW and decided to check the droprate from those things. Imagine my surprise when i got one first-try and then three in a row! They sell like hotcakes too... Got 10 of those in 2 days just lvling engineering with Target Dummy. Already sold 4 for 1g each and 1 for 2g(ye, i'm crazy, but i just couldn't believe this was really happening!). So i'd say it's a 33% drop from thos. I'm one rich lv17 gnome now...

i sold one on ah for 5g, then relized i needed it, set out 3 target dummies, got 2 copper mods, linen, fused wire. could find anymore on ah, but a little time and even littler effort got me one.

these are so easy off the advanced dummies. dont even try to farm them off mobs. i just made around 10 advanced walked out of if into newb country and had lv 5's try to kill them. it was funny and productive. 8 wirings out of it too. the mobs rarly drop anyway. just buy of make dummies

These seem to drop fairly well when you let advanced dummies just expire, or from the Venture Company Shredders/Reapers in STV.

They should make fused wiring stackable, takes up too much space in the bank and they're not something you'd throw away or sell just to make space.

I just did a quick test. Made 10 advanced and 10 regular target dummies. After recycling parts I ended up with 5 more of each. So, out of 15 of each, I got 3 fused from the advanced, and 5 from the regular. That's a pretty small sample, but it shows that they have roughly the same drop rate. Since the mats for regular are about 1/3 the price (50s and 1g50 on Elune), that's the way to go.

Venture Co. Shredder probably have the highest true drop rate of fused wiring, and are incredibly easy to farm.

They spawn at exactly 44.6 23.4 and 45.0 17.6

They seem to come up about 5-8 minutes after you kill them. These are the only two spawns, so it isnt exactly fast, but I don't see them camped too often on my server.

also this was from dueling someone and just killing dummies so if you were wondering about that "cheat" then yes, it still works

So a good way to get a Fused Wiring from my Advanced Target Dummy will be just to deploy it somewhere and let it expire? Just trying to figure out.

Ok I just tried out regular target dummies compared to advanced target dummies and out of 10 regulars, I got 3 fused wirings. Out of 7 advanced, I got 2 fused wirings, so that's about the drop rate, it appears. All I did was create them in Ironforge and set them off and let them expire right there around the great forge. Hope this info helps. :)

I dropped enchanting for Engineering - and am currently at level 115 or so.

I was grinding in WPL (andorhal) and deployed 8 target dummies and got 2 fused wiring. Maybe I had a bit of luck on my side but I am wondering if the drop rate has some bearing on the level of mob you are fighting ?

Otherwise I just v. lucky.

I have recently made the discovery that having very high level mobs smack an Advanced Target Dummy greatly increases the drop rate on fused wiring.
My usually drop from the advanced dummies is about 1 in 8.
If I have a ZG or AQ20 mob smack one, their drop rate has been about 66% (2 out of 3) for me. Note that it has to get hit by the mob to get the increase. Most of the time throwing by a running snake in ZG will get a hit, but the guaranteed method is to put it right next to a rooted or frost nova'd mob, then they definitely get hit.

Well I don't know if Blizz have changed the drop rate, if it was an error in game or just unbelievable luck... but from reading everyone's comments i made 10 target dummies (standard lvl 85 ones) and got a fused wiring from every single one of them.

Needless to say I have some funds for my next 40 or so engineering skill points !

i couldnt even loot compact harvest reapers, so dont even try.

i did the dummies and made 12 target dummies and 5 adv target dummies. the first drop was a reg target dummy that was attacked by a lvl? ally's attack chicken.....that was funny. i really didnt care that i died right after. the second drop was just letting the adv target dummy expire. for the amount of $$ i spent on random drops, i should have just bought off of AH.

I got a fused wiring to drop from a compact harvest reaper that I deployed.

Also and this might be my imagination, but it seems like dummies (both kinds) and the harvest reapers drop fused wire more often if they expire at the time limit, than if they are destroyed.

Whether that is true or not is hard to say, but it _seems_ like it to myself, and several others I have spoken with.

OK - as of 1.10 to farm fused wiring (obviously for repair bots mainly but used in other engineering recipes) just make advanced target dummies, and deploy them. In one hours time I get 7-8 of them. Not only that, but the target dummies also drop the pieces needed to make more advanced target dummies, so I just stand by the anvil and deploy, loot, create. The only thing it never seems to drop much of is heavy leather - bring 2 extra stacks with you and you should be fine. I got bored one day while waiting for bwl and stood there doing that all day, spent about 15g in parts, harvested over 50 fused wiring and made about 250g ove the next week slowly listing it in the ah.

Have one of your alts choose JC for a profession. Delicate copper wiring is one of the first items they learn to make. It only takes 2 copper bars to make the delicate copper wiring. Mail the DCW to your engineer who can in turn make it into fused wiring (Eng 275: 3x Delicate Copper Wire, 2x Essence of Fire)...walaaa...endless supply of fused wiring :)

...but for the ones unable to make them, I got a lot of these down in gnomereagan. like 4-5 of them. I did the boss run about 3 times though, so drop rates are silly..

But, nice money from AH, sold for around 1.5g each, and plenty responses from trade channel. =)

Just did this, after killing npc and then taking 'At War' off it still wouldn't let me click on mob to buy (or anyother everlook mobs for that matter) but you still aren't being attacked by the brusiers. If it happens to you just log out, and when you log back in check your reputation page,'At War' will still be clicked on, click it off and you can buy.

Got one today, but drop rate has definitely decreased since 1.9: Used to get around 1 in 5, now more like 1 in 15, confirmed after several stacks....

I've got a lot of Fused Wirings from Target Dummies (the palin one, not Advanced or Masterwork) before 1.10, but after, I can not have even a single piece !

I got mine from the regular target dummies.... by letting them expire...
just keep at it like farming anything else. Sometimes your lucky, sometimes your not.

I had one drop off the first advance tqarget dummy I deployed, so they also drop them. I also got one from a compact harvest reaper after it timed out. Just keep using lots of these devices and you will get some fused wiring.

I can kill the Arcane Nullifiers fast enough that I can get a Fused Wiring after about 2 hours or less of grinding. Running all of Gnomer than starting from the beginning again I can get about 4 or 5 per day if I just stick with it.

So far, I've used ten Target Dummies, and not a one has dropped any engineering parts. Not a representative sample size, I know, but it's got me wondering if they don't drop things in Classic WoW.

I remember quite clearly as an Engineer, you could get parts like fused wiring from the Target Dummies, and bang, Im not the only one looking for answers here.
but no worries,
I think either its a bug and hopefully it would get fixed real quick in the coming hotfixes,
or its because now its only phase 1, items like fused wiring and wizard oils are just simply unavailable.
one important suggestion:
save your Dummies!
put them into your bank,
you will get tons of fused wiring Soooooon(not blizzard soon ofc)
and you will get rich by making good use of them!

You can farm the 2 shredders in STV. They drop fused wiring at an alright rate. ~10 shredders to 1 fused has been the worst drop rate ive had.

Was able to get these from Compact Harvest Reaper Kits in Classic. Unsure of the drop rate. Two reapers, one fused wiring, but that's likely luck.

Edit: 3/4 Harvest Reaper Kits have dropped Fused Wiring.

When Classic first launched, no loot whatsoever dropped from any of the target dummies.
Since mid-September 2019 however, various materials which are used to construct the dummies, does drop, in various quantities - and occasionally a Fused Wiring.

I've found that the Advanced Target Dummy drops Fused Wiring considerably more often than the basic Target Dummy. While the Advanced Target Dummy does cost more to construct (and higher skill), I find my time crafting and detonating these things to be worth more than the mats, so I use the Advanced Target Dummy

okay, i have made 30 Target dummies (copper ones) out of which i got materials for 12 more, and then got materials for 6 more. than 2 more. if i counted right.

so thats all together 50 target dummies, and i got 3 Fused Wiring out of it.
on my server it goes for about 5 g, and considering the 30 initial Target dummies have a cost of 5g, i tripled my money (in a matter of about 2 hour.
but keep in mind, i have never made it "fight" with a mob, just put it down, wait for it to expire, loot. i was going about my business, and every 2 minutes, i droped 1 at my feet, wait 15 sec, and loot.

so i would say, if you wanna bother with it, you can make some Fused Wiring this way, and make profit.
but not fast enough compared to time invested.

meanwhile, i raised up my engineering to 175, so i can start making Advanced Target dummies.
for a start i made 12 ATD. see how it works.
from the 12 ATD, i had material for 6 further ATD + 3 Fused Wiring.
from those 6 ATD i did not get any fused wiring only a 2 more ATD
these 2 again gave enough (just short of a few heavy leather) to make 2 more ATD.

Sooo.. all in all, from the 12 initial ATD had was able to create further ATD's and all of these dropped all together 5 fused wirings.

based on this, i would say the ATD has a way higher chance of dropping their own material, and also fused wirings.

i hope this helps.

Just FYI, i am doing all this at the time of the ZG patch. (05-may-2020)

tested to farm the mobs in stv, 1,5h farming and now fused wiring.

after a while i started dropping target dummys, it took me 12 of them to get two wires!

As of 1/8/2021 this does not work. Spawned 50 target dummies and not a single fused wiring.

Edit: Just got one today from target dummies, drop rate seems to be very low or my luck is absolute crap.

Confirmed that they do, in fact, drop off the Engineering (85) Target Dummies - got two Fused Wiring off of six dummies today. Don't give up!

as of 3/29/22 these do NOT drop from regular target dummys. Made 25 used all, no fused wiring just bolts, cloth and occasional bronze bar
