The Den Mother herself is a lvl 18 beast, but she is surrounded by 5 or 6 lvl 10 cubs who gang up and attack. The cave entrance is 51.37; the path starts around 52.36. The best way to do this quest is by pulling the cubs away from the den, defeating them, and then going in for the kill on the mother. Easy to do with a hunter or shammy. Careful not to aggro the cubs and the mother all at once.

This is used to trap a Rabid Thistle Bear (the grey ones). Keep trying it on any Thistle Bear, and you'll be at it for hours.

You can pull a Rabid Thistle Bear and lay the trap at his feet. Dealing any damage to him wont effect the trapping. Give it about 10 sec, and he'll be trapped.

Once trapped, you don't have to worry about losing him. The quest is complete and can be turned in whenever you like, even if the bear has vanished.

If you ^&*! up, go back to the quest giver (Tharnariun Treetender at 39,43), and ask him for a new trap. There's no need to abandon.

52,46 is the hill you go up and you can't miss the cave on the left.
