This is one of the best Head armor pieces for a level 39. This hat is beneficial to any cloth wearer of the right level. The hat has a very nice graphic, and has a very good drop rate. This hat drops from the final boss in the cathedral of Scarlet Monastary

Look at any mage, priest and warlock at around level 40 and they will be wearing this. If not, they will be wearing something worse! This hat is the best you can get for this level (excluding twinks), and for quite a few levels above - in fact, many lvl 50+ still wear it!

It drops about 1 every 3 or 4 times, and Cathedral should not take too long to complete - with a decent group of lvl 40+, it will only take about 15 minutes for a full run. At the level required to wear the hate, Whitemane is not hard to kill either!

If you're at this level, don't buy a hat (unless you're a twink), just get this. 210 mana, 90 hp and 14 spirit is a big boost to any spellcaster.

Most priests will keep this up to the mid 50's. It's nice for all other cloth classes and healing druids as well.

This hat style forms the basis for many of the future hat models, which is unfortunate, since I find it rather ugly. It's too bad it doesn't look like the icon picture.

But yes, every caster ought to have this hat at this level, and you have a good chance at picking up the Triune Amulet which also drops from this boss.

No stamina and slightly less spirit with a noticeable int boost. It's certainly an option, though Whitemane's piece is still an excellent choice.

Having healing gear set aside as a Druid is always a wise choice. Easy access into pugs.

Um…am I the only one who wants it not because of the stats, but because it matches the my main is wearing?

If I were to obtain one, I'd be likely to wear it to level 60 and beyond. Because, y'know, it looks cool. (The Robe of Power, too. That thing was a pain to farm for. I am NOT getting rid of it.)

Yesterday on my first run in that part of SM I got it. 1 other guy was with me but he refused to roll on such an ugly hat. He wasn't going to walk around like an idiot with that thing.

When my mage got it, I had to need it to stop a warror from ninja'ing it. We had stated to pass on all blues but when we finished the cathedral, the warrior "need"ed all the drops. so I got lucky to beat him. he was a pu added as tank to round out party(everyone else in group were guildies)

After reading through the previous comments I'm a bit annoyed.

Personally I don't think it's too outlandish for a Druid to need this but for a Hunter to need it I think it's QUITE absurd.

Also some people have commented on others needing it when they aren't high enough to use it yet while others in the group are, wtf? That is a pretty damned pathetic reason not to need something.

Level is of no consequence, if I was a level 1 Lock, for example, I'd need roll on Robes of Agural even if I was grouped with 24+ locks.

I can see how a druid could wear this, but if you have cloth-wearers in your party please DO THEM A FAVOR and don't roll. You don't need it nearly as much as they do. It's not fair to deprive a mage/warlock/priest of basically the best hat for their level when you could be wearing something like this: http://www.thotbott.com/?i=7270 , which was no doubt designed for druids.

Of course, if the cloth wearers in your party either don't want it or already have it, go right ahead.

And hunters? Don't even get me started.

Anyone who will not roll on this item simply for the look of it is retarded. Im sorry, but jesus, its a friggen video game...Would Mario pass on the fire flower, because he didnt like the white jumpsuit? NO!, because the Koopa Troopas needed to be destroyed! Just wear the helmet...its the best you are gonna find for at least 10 lvls.

2.Pallys, for holy this can be good. if there are any cloth wearers in ur group dont roll tho!
3. any cloth wearers, need the %^&* outta it cause it can last a real long time. dont be retarted and not like it for the looks.
4.Druids, same thing applies to pallys.
5. shammies, same thing to druids and pallys.

I've ran Cath enough times to have 9 small radiant shards and my friend to have 13. If my math is correct (witch it is) thats 11 runs no drop. All I have to say is GG me.

I've ran my priest through Cathedral 35 times, I've gotten every drop except for the chapeau. My priest has leveled 4 times through this entire ordeal. It's frustrating.

Maybe it's just me, but it might be %90 or so drop rate, ran SM 3 times, got it all 3 times. had to disenchant 2 times. The above poster must be fuming mad at me, eh? :P

BTW if no one needs it, an enchanter must need it it, disenchant it and roll again for the shard or dust.

I'd like to post here since this is a pretty rare item to some extents. ill use a item with a 50% drop rate as an example say you kill a mob with a 50% chance to drop whatever it doesnt matter if 50% means half it doesnt mean of you kill it 50 times your gonna get it 25 times it means that there is roughly a or exactly a 50% chance to drop this so you may kill this mob 50 times but you may only get that item 17 times because it is based on CHANCE not actual assurance it could be the same with 80% chance although you would of been horribly unlucky then IE. if you flip a coin 60 times ( who has that much time? ) it will not be heads and tails 30 times each it could be 47 heads and 13 tails or 26 heads and 34 tails Chances isnt exact remember so you may get this 10 times depending on CHANCE but whos to say? i wansnt refering to the people on this thred before you say anything AT ALL. well beside that this does look a bit fugly on guys but looks half decent if you got robes to match

Can you actually tell me there's some better leather helmet out there for druids that heal? As far as I;m aware 3 stats is better than a "of the eagle" green... if I'm healing SM Cath as a druid I'd need this. There really ISN'T that much in the way of decent Balance/Resto gear for druids in the game, and it just happens that cloth fits us misfits well.

I would have gotten this on my first run....
but some damn ninja hunter rolled need and won. I was pissed to say the least. I did get it on my second run though.

When it comes to rolling just BE POLITE. Hunters DO NOT ROLL ON THIS. Druids if and only if there are no casters in ur group are you allowed to roll. Pallies you guys can wear much better armor if you wanted to be a healer you should have rolled a priest.

I don't understand why people have such a hard time with the common sense decisions that need to be made when it comes to rolling for items.... If you ninja this from some one who truly needs it so you can "d/e or sell on AH" Delete your account and go play a different game so the rest of us can play the game the right way

i got it for my shammy (from SM cath) and its damn good for healing and elemental spell spam. BUT i only got it since there was no one who needed it, if there was like a priest, mage or warlock that wanted it i would have definately passed. This should have yellow text which says: "Cloth casters have higher priority on this item"

Zumwan, Dude. Priest need this more than a Druid would. There are other things you can argue, like who did what during the instance and so forth but if you are there with someone else who would actually need the hat, your going to come second priority. Even if you are a healing druid, there are other hats that you could go get instead.. this is the best it gets for that priest at that level.
Besides, "Accidently Clicked Greed", You seriously are one of THOSE. Meaning, one of those annoying people who thinks that NEEDing everythign is apropriate. Do you ever find yourself in a good group, and suddenly they kick your arse? Thats what happens to people like you. I cant think of how many times you get in a group and someone is NEED happy, for no reason. If you dont TRULY need it, then dont NEED! If you just want it or think its cool, GREED for christ's sake, because you are NOT the only person in a 5 man group.

I got this on the second run, very nice helm for my mage. I personally think that anyone other then a clothie should only need if no one else needs. A clothie can't roll on leather gear, so why should a leatherwearer roll on cloth? Unless the others allow it, which not sure why anyone would. And if you are a leatherwearer who needs when a clothie also needs, then good luck in the future. You'll never find a good guild and probably will have mad people that remember you as a ninja.

just finished a run where an enhancement shaman needed this along with our priest, a lock, and me (mage) and he #$%^ing won. hes arguing that he needs it more bc he needs mana and at 40 he wont have enough. bull#$%^ now our group is pissed. his names malhoos 39 orc shaman on demon soul server.

I've run SM 10+ times on 3 different characters and it hasn't dropped once. If it has a 30% drop rate then it has a 70% not drop rate. The chance of it not dropping 10 times in a row is something like 3%. That means it should have dropped a long time ago. I'm not doing SM again not when I can wear the shadowweave mask when my priest hits 44

alot of obvious controversy, its a cloth wearers item first, hunters don't even want it, crappy stats. ap and agi are much more important then int and spi. agi is ur crit chance/armor/+1 ap, and ap is self explanitory, makes ur arrows hit harder and crit larger, meaning higher dps. any hunter wearing this is unknowingly yelling noob to everyone around them, almost as funny as a %^&*!@# in full herod's armor LOL. if ur a pally/sham/drood thats specced to heal and ALWAYS heals, u 4sure can need as well, but otherwise

I know I'm biased as a mage, but COME ON! Hunters, paladins, druids should know better than to take this from a priest, lock or mage. I've had this ninja'd several times by hunters and once by a druid who had a far better druid hat. (more on my ever growing ignore list.) And really, a paladin? If it's even possible for you to wear plate and mail, you should never be wearing cloth. And if you wanted to heal, you should have made a priest or shaman. And don't $%^&* about hot holy paladins are such great healers, when does anyone ever invite a paladin to heal? Every time I've EVER group with a paladin, they've tanked.

This is excellent cloth armor for level 39 and a fairly frequent drop. The appearance is probably most appropriate for a priest, but the stats on the chapeau are worth a little fashion sacrifice. I received the drop running Scarlet Monastery at level 35... this hat alone is a major incentive to level up.

Im 49 mage and i stil have this PoS. I really want the Eye of Theradras thats drops later but i hate the instance I wasnt too impressed with the XP i got in the run but hell...go for the items. And casters...dont get the Eye b/c ur gonna end up getting ur set headpeice at like 55ish i.e. Magister's Crown...Devout Headpiece/ and dreadmist headpiece. Its a good hat i admit but i had it too long. it kinda annoys me id rather take it as a mage b/c mages do more tanking than priests but they aint tanks just they do more dmg than priests. Get the hat if ur a mage but get like a Red Mageweave Headband is ur priest. +20 int

SM is the best.

I got my Illusionary Rod, Triune Amulet, Whitemane's Chapeu, and Flameseers Mantle all in there. Freakin' sweet.

Decent XP, too, even if you don't have any quests. I gain 4-5 bars as a 42 mage every time and with a good group it takes about 30 minutes.

Been running Cathedral a lot, to get this hat for my priest. Killed Whitemane at least half a dozen times, no hat. She's always dropped either the amulet or the mace. I just know, when it finally drops, some paladin or hunter is going to roll and win it. The number of bad players I see rolling through SM is fairly frightning; is it just that I've been lucky before now, or does the place seem to collect them?

As for the graphic, I don't care if it makes my character look (more) like an idiot, after all the trouble I'll have put into it, I'll PROUDLY show it off. Assuming I don't throw my moniter through the window in frustration first, of course.

I'm pretty lucky, I've been in SM 3 times, first time I got hypnotic blade, second time I got Illusionary Rod, and 3rd time I won this thing.

The hat is a bit tacky but anyone that sees you walking by will know it's pretty rare because of how unique it looks. I prefer it to an ugly little white hood that makes you look like an old italian woman. (See: Aurora Cowl, my previous headgear)

If you're a 'lock it also matches the enchanted gold bloodrobe.

hahaha this hat looks sorta stupid yet totaly awesome. I went to the cath killed whitemane and she droped the mace. ok usualy id just try again but it just made me mad and i got fed up with the cath and went somewhere else.ummm i think i took a bat to hammer fall(very fun place, looks like a part of whinnie the pooh only there are raptors, giant spiders, killer voltures, ugly digging things, oh and lets not forget all those elementals) huh i guess ill try again maybe...... i said maybe!

Ran through SM Cath at level 38 with a couple of pallys and a 60 warrior. Luckily, it dropped first go and seeing as there were no other casters, I got it.

I got it yesterday after 4 hours of SM fighting. We used n/g system and there were no other clothwearer in my party - I rolled a 100 on it. Could have saved that roll for a better time, but I'm not complaining since I got the hat. :)

I'm wearing it with Robe of power at the moment, and it fits y'know. Character looks like a bishop or something. But the second I change my robe I'm turning the hat off, as without a red chest piece it just looks like ass.

If you like the design of this hat but not the color, try to find a Gossamer Headpiece with stats you like, it's the same shape but white and gold instead of red. My warlock wears it and I think it looks awesome.

Nice stats.. but I dont like the design of it...

My lvl 60 friend on Bloodhoof ran me through SM getting me the illusionary rod which im training like crazy to use(lvl 34 to use im lvl 33 hehe :) ), then he decided lets get to whitemane! So at first she dropped the amulet(forget name ;/) the second time she dropped the hat, although id look like the pope in it, the AC is good and the stats are also, it also would match with my enchanted goldrobe, it doesnt go with my gnomes pink beard though :(

First time in SM and I get this, Elder Gloves of the Owl, the Illusionary Rod, the talisman for completing the quest, the mage wand for completing that quest in there and the mantle of doan

all in 1 run

all because of the n/v system (I was the only person who would use any of this stuff, having 2 druids, a rogue and a pally with me, all from my guild)

the only thing that would have made it even better would have been the staff of jordon

Was doing some silk farming and joined a late night group because they were looking for 1 more dps for a long time. (as lvl38 priest spec'd for fast leveling)
Somewhere in the middle of the dungeon the warlock had to go and we couldn't immediately find someone else so we moved on with the 4 of us.
At a slower pace obviously and with some creativity we got to the end and I got this wonderful head piece in my first run.
Couldn't be happier.
Quickly need to work on those remaining xp blocks 'till lvl39 now :-)
