Made around 3 runs in Hinterland troll thingy... Got 14 wildvine and like 8 stacks of mageweave. Obviously the best place to farm wildvine if u r lvl70.

Also picked up a lot of Wildvine off the trolls in the Hinterlands.

I don't know about the purple lotus thing.. I've never gotten Wildvine when gathering Purple Lotus. I hav only found that Wildvine drops off of trolls.

A great way for a leatherworker who is on the Wild Leather quests from Pratt McGrubben (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=7852#) to farm wildvine if you can't get to the higher lvl areas. I killed the Skullsplitter mobs in central Stranglethorn Vale (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=669 map of the hunters to show you where to go) with no problem at all at lvl 44, taking on 2 or 3 at a time with my druid. While I was dong my Skullsplitter Tusk quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=209) I ended up gathering 6 of these in less than an hour.

Did 1 full run through Jintha'Alor and got 13 Wildvine and nearly 6 stacks of Mageweave. One of the better places for Wildvine drops. ^_~

I've got a bit of a farming horror story, to make the rest of you with bad drop luck feel better. I went to the Hinterlands to farm them on a 44 shadow priest. It started out great, four off the first twenty kills or so. Next three hours: 0 drops. Burned through a full bar of exp.
Frustrated, I gave up and bought them off AH.

If it happens that there aren't any Wildvines on the AH, just go to STV and advertise to buy them from people in /1. Most people who quest around the level 40 range will have a few to sell you, I got enough for 8 green lenses for just 10g this way. :)

Even a modest drop rate would help immensely. Wildvine is used by all the main professions, and that keeps the demand high. If the drop rate increased to something more reasonable, there would not be as much demand becuase all of us could get more, more easily than it is now. I killed in the Hinterlands for 4 hours last night and got 4. And that was from the elites. That's just wrong. I had an herbalist with me, helping me gather them, and he did not get one drop from purple lotus in 4 hours.

In addition, the stat increases on the really high level blue items we can make are horrible. Even on items that require 4-6 rare items to make, the increases are not very good. And you have to sell them at sky-high prices because it take you forever to gather the items. It's not fun to have to do days of mindless killing just to make a single high-level item to get your skills up, and then have to gouge someone because you had to buy 10 Wildvine at 10gold, becase it did not drop for you.

Reasonable drop rates, and make the stats on those blue items we can make worth making a set you would use yourself for more than just a level or two.

The Hinterlands! Drops a lot off of the trolls just east of the Flight Path. I find the drop rate to be very nice. I use as a alchemist, but it sells nice if you have spares.

The largest percentage of wildvine that I get as a drop comes from the skullsplitter warriors--and it's the warriors around Zul'mamwe. The others don't drop it as frequently and I have never gotten one off a beastmaster. I get one or two wildvine about every 10 kills.

These occasional can be harvested along with purple lotus (in a similar fashion to swiftthistle with mageroyal and briarthorn)

I just finshed doing a bunch of quests I had for the Jinta'Alor in the Hinterlands, after killing probably ~135 trolls I got 8 wildvine Keep in mind I was in a group with one other person though.

Yea i'm pissed, saw a ton of these for sale for cheap buyouts but I just bidded for low to save $$$. Now I'm outbidded and people are selling for 2g a piece for the past week. Grab them while you can.... :(

Just to add for those who were trying to find wildvine in Stranglethorn Vale...It is possible but you get them on rare drops in the ruins of jubuwal

I was just doing a few quests by killing Skullsplitter trolls in Stranglethorn Vale and was surprised to come by the wildvine. Since the drop rate of what I was really there for was so low I picked up enough that my husband was able to make me all the dreamweave stuff. Admittedly, I did have to farm "Heart of the Wild" in Swomp of Sorrows a couple of times though. Trudge, trudge, trudge.

farmed trolls in the hinterlands for 2 hours straight as a 43 pyro mage. did quests for the trolls there and managed to get 55K xp in those 2 hours, 14 wildvine (all dreamweave cloths) and 17G. waste of time? yea right!

It's been said before and I'll say it again. The Hinderlands have a great drop rate for Wildvine.

I got to the Hinderlands through the Hillsbrad Foothills. The first thing to do is climb down the mountain around 70,64 and then get your FP from the docks at Revantusk village around 77, 78. Then go back up the mountain around 77,61 and go to the location of the Vilebranches, Camp 1 (70, 48) and Camp 2 (66, 44).

Today at Camp 1 I got two wildvines in one battle. I attacked Camp 1 twice and Camp 2 only once and ended up with 3 wildvines. It was a short trip...

The casters seem to have a higher drop rate, but I've received wildvine from the others as well.

My mod data says I have:

Soothsayer 15% (4/27)
Scalper 8% (6/72)

i searched and searched for wildvine. AH had them for 2g a piece. so after i didnt need them i went to The Hinterlands and the were dropping like crazy off the trolls out there. its all chance, but that is where i found them easy

Al the above posts that point to the best drop rates being the lower level witherbarks are correct. And make sure they ARE witherbarks.

As a 56 Hunter i levelled Shadra'alor twice and received absolutely no wildvine. So i went to hiri'Watha = a much better drop rate.

I needed 4 wildvines and i got my fourth on the second guy after they all respawned.

There is always the option of going to Jintha'Alor if u think u can handle all those elites, apart from that stick to Hiri'watha.

Shadra'Alor is not worth it as the spiders do NOT drop any wildvine as far as i know and in Shadra'Alor a lot of the enemies are the witherbark broodings.

Also there is more than just wildvine. If your looking for mageweave, hiriwwatha is also the place, i got 44 in one run.

i spent a total of around 10 minutes in hiri'Watha, Hinterlands and got

4 wildvine
44 mageweave
16 mithril ore :p (miner)
12 troll mojo
1 fadeleaf

And some various potions of the sort.

i definitely recommend farming for Wildvine at Hiri'Watha - 4 in 10 minutes is good no matter what ure farming :p

Personally I have found the Vilebranch Scalpers and Soothsayers to be the best source. As long as you stop the Soothsayers from healing, its easy kills with good wildvine drops and decent amounts of Mageweave too.

since patch 2.3 it is much easier to farm this in Jintha'Alor in the Hinterlands.

There are plenty of mobs, all close to each other. I farmed 8 in an hour as well as 3 stacks of Mageweave Cloth and plenty of Troll Sweat.

I decided to farm these together with mageweave cloth off the trolls at Jintha'alor in hinterlands, here's what i ended up with after roughly 2 hours of farming:

20 wildwine
162 mageweave cloth
2(!) blues(bow and a pattern)
5 greens
1 reinforced steel lockbox
about 10g in greys and sold mojo
5-6 bars of exp(lvl 54)

two hours well spent i would say, was pretty lucky on the blues though ^^

You can farm wildvine in the Hinderlands, just east of Aerie Peak at

Coords 24, 60

Look for the Witherbark trolls, they are Witherbark Zealots and Scalpers.

In Feathermoon SW AH these wildvines are going for 1-3 gold each.

These trolls are all lvl 40 to 43 and 1 wildvine drops for about every 6-8 kills. I got 4 in 35 mins. with a 50 Lock.

I have gone to hinterlands on my 65 hunter just to get the wildvine for LW... but what i actually found was that if you are anywhere from 60 + it is not even close to being worth going over there, at level 60 you can make the money and more to buy these , so dont waste your time going for them at these levels , just earn the money

Just spent 4.5 hours there with my 54 feral, and I can definatly say the place has NO wildvine AT ALL!
Went to the top and down again 2 times, killing everything I saw. I even hunted those in the caves. Ended up with 571 dead trolls and not a single wildvine.

I remembered from when they were elites, the trolls had a fair droprate (around 5-8%). Now? Complete bullsh*t. Anyone claiming they found wildvine here are joking.

It varies day to day. I went there looking for wildvine a few days ago and got nothing. Came back to do a quest today and got 15 wildvine. Didnt take long at all. They were dropping from the witherbark zealots and hideskinners. Also a high rate of greens today in the same area.

The Vilebranch in the SouthEast Hinterlands drop Wildvine. If you are a Leatherworker and don't have Herbalism, you can farm there instead of paying 1-2g per flower. Far better drop rate than the Witherbark by Aerie Peak.

I ran a friend in DM east and got 2 full stacks, and I thought to myself Damn what an awesome spot to farm wildvine, I went back 2 days later did a full clear by myself (trash) and never got one.So I guess its a luck thing.

trolls in jintha alor drop these. its not a common drop though. i was selling these to npc vendors before i realized these would sell for 1-2 gold a piece in my server (ysondre).

It seems to me that the drop rate reflects the level difference between you and the mob who's dropping the Wildvine. (ie, more exp pts = better drop rate.)

I went through the trolls near the Mosh'Ogg Ogre Mound in STV and pulled in enough to do my wild leather quests, plus some leftover to sell. I came back a few levels later and couldn't get squat for drops from them.

I find that with pretty much anything to do with drops. Which sucks, cause now I can't farm reliably and make money for myself. At level 54, the drop rate from these guys is dismal, and I'm stuck on the Wildvine armor of developing my skill.

i dont know why these things are so expecsive, besides the fact that they are used in the dreamweave stuff that tailors make. they drop like wiked often. im kinda sad that i didnt check how much they went for b4 i sold them on ah, i was selling them for like 10s a piece

Bliz must have made this harder to get and more useful to several other crafts so that it's value in the WOW economy would be good. Trolls in Hinterlands and STV seem to drop the most, and these will fortunately drop for anyone (not just herbalists). The purple lotuses are not well distributed enough in most places to make this any more than an incidental source of wildvine. The value of wildvine drives up the value of dreamweave items and also dreamweave items are made all the more powerful because of the rare power of the herb...it all makes WOW sense.

Abzalom is wrong.. first of all, there is no purple lotus in the swamp of sorrows..

second of all.. the drop rate listed on this site is averaged over thousands of purple lotus picked throughout the world, and just because you picked 10 somewhere and got lucky to have 4 drop.. does not mean that anyone else will have the same luck.

its a component in wildvine potion, which for you folks with mana and health, means you only have to take one potion (if youre potion dependent) to regen both instead of picking between the two necessary things before that monster finishes wiping your party.
its a quick fix granted, but itll do in a pinch. the squishies i tank for tend to love me for havin a batch of this on hand (which in turn keeps me alive longer)

I grinded 4 an hour, got 5, and got half the $ for my level 40 mount

The occurrence of Wildvine when harvesting Purple Lotus depends on the zone you're in. Ashenvale's Purple Lotus has a 10% chance of finding Wildvine. If you go to somewhere like Swamp of Sorrows, then Wildvine occurs a LOT more when harvesting Purple Lotus (40% rate).

Go to Sranglethorn Valley, and grind Skullsplitters for an our, or Vilebranch ... in The Hinterlands and you will have at least 4 or 5 wildvine's.

Been farming Purple Lotus for hours now trying to get one Wildvine, no luck.
AH has them at 4k. Anyone having any luck farming these? I just need for an xmog hah.

No clue since when, but 0 wildvine and 0 purple lotus from clearing The Hinterlands. Selling at almost 1k in the AH...not worth it. Will try STV next. Lots of cloth drops, though, from both Vilebranch and Owlbeasts.

Unfortunately Wildvine is unobtainable via herbalism as its outside of the skill range in phase 2. However, Wildvine is able to be farmed in Stranglethorn Vale via Skullsplitter Warrior, Skullsplitter Axe Thrower, and Skullsplitter Mystic which have 6% drop rate.

Additional opportunity comes from Herbalism and finding Purple Lotus which can rarely drop Wildvine

Currently Wildvine is going for 2-3g per..
