after you kill him, it's not a group drop. we killed him, and only one char was able to pick up the drop. That means you have to reset the instance and do it all over again. That sucks.

why is there such a high level quest here?

The Mallet and the boss are easy to locate (though the mallet is a little hard to get) to get to the boss I believe you keep taking lefts once in the instance.

The best description is under the "Carrot on a Stick" page, just go there and there is a full description of how to get the mallet and then the boss.

*The mallet is a drop in Hinterlands, not in ZF*

To Get The Mallet Of Zul'Farrak Follow These Steps! It's abit of a mission tho!
To get the mallet you have to release the guards at the top of the steps in ZF (in the locked cages), once u killed about 40 mobs coming up the stairs, speak to the guards, they will then turn on you, you then have to kill them to get the Ancient Tablet. This then tells you to go to the Altar of Zul in Hinterlands (i'd definately recommend a group for this!) here you will get the sacred mallet from the troll keeper, take it to Jintha alor. use it at the altar to transform it to the malet of Zul' Farrak! all done!

are u saing the scale doesn't always drop for this quest if it doesn't do u have to redo the quest? because it says 90% drop

It is not necessary to do the hammer quest yourself. You must have someone in your party that has the hammer on them to be able to summon Ghaz.

There is no prerequisite to obtaining the hammer. While the Ancient Tablet will tell how to go about starting and doing the quest, that item is not necessary either.

You can obtain the mallet you need by heading to 48.68 in the Alter of Zul, Hinterlands. There you will find Qiaga (50 or so elite, you’ll want some help). Kill that mob and the mallet drops.

From there you need to head east to 57.78 in Jintha’Alor, also in the Hinterlands. This is a hard trip to make, if you are a lower level and don’t have a group. The nice part to this, is you can chain res to the top. Just make sure you get naked on your way in, and always die close to a wall that is on a higher level. That way you can rez going straight up the tower without a lot of wasted deaths or time. Once you get to that point, rez and right click the alter and the hammer is instantly transformed. You will die again, but there is no quest to accept or channeling time. You can then spirit res.

At this point you can go to Ironforge and get the quest in Tinker Town which sends you to the Shimmering Flats or you can just head there and get it there. Head to the mirage raceway to obtain the quest.

By this time your rez sickness will have worn off, and you are ready to hit Zul’Farrak.

To get to the place to summon Ghaz, after you enter ZF take a left each time you can until you see a large pool of water. Clear around that pool to make some room. The person who has the mallet then hits the gong with it. Ghaz spawns in the pool and walks out of it up the steps.

Ghaz will use an ability that will knock your party into the air, where you will suffer falling damage, amongst other attacks/skills. To nullify this, have your ranged dps and healer in the pool of water for the duration of the fight. When you get knocked into the air, you will land back in the water and the whole party will not have suffered damage, just the melee classes, lessening the burden on your healer. The required quest item is an “all loot”, so everyone on the quest will complete it when he dies.

All those who say that this is a waste and the crop is better… well… are missing the point. You cannot wear the crop until 69, so having this, the glove enchant, and spurs will help you until then. Faster mounted speed is less down time traveling and questing and therefore is faster leveling.

If you don’t like switching out your gear, download Itemrack or one of its equivalents as an add-on. Most of the equipment mod have a build in allowance for setting gear for events (like auto-equipping gloves with a herbalism when you pick flowers; slapping on boots, gloves and the carrot when you mount) and de-equipping the items after the event is over.

The crop will replace all these items when you get up ther in levels, but the enchant, spurs and carrot will get you there faster.
