ok this is the mian sorce of food for the hunter if their pet is a picky eater like a cat or dog. One way to save a whole bunch of money is to just wait till it is done eating one peice of meat then feed it aother,not all at one time...

Yes, but at the same time, most pets will eat more than just meat. Cats eat fish, which... /gasp...can be fished out of the lakes of Azeroth for free. Dogs... yea, this is the eaiest way.

We feed our pets so they stay happy. Feeding a pet gives it a buff:
"Fed Pet: Pets happiness is increasing"

This buff is not stackable, therefore, cramming food down your pets throat is not a good tactic. Wait, take your time, and you will save yourself a fair amount of money.

Also, a nifty point of interest is that Bears, which will eat basically anything, have been known to eat mage food, so if you're in a group and plan on playing for a while, or there is some sort of free food event like the harvest festival, stack up on some goodies before you head out.
Dogs though can be a pain to feed when you need to, but some places seem to drop the quail often, specifically the orcs in BRS, so if someone if your group loots one of em, just ask em if you can get that for your pet, to save you a couple silver. In most cases, people will take pity on you (if your really poor like me anyway =P) and hand the quail over since its pretty useless to most classes otherwise, except maybe warriors when they run out of band-aids and are soloing.

These fetch about 67 gold each on the AH. Sure will be hard to squirrel away for that epic mount at these prices. Oh Lawd!
