I found Sul'Thraze to be a very decent 2 handed fury weapon. The speed, damage range, and such is top notch. However, as an Arm's weapon it simply is not good enough. The top end damage is not enough to get a decent Mortal Strike hit.

Sul'thraze the lasher (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=9372) is created by combing Jang'Thraze the Protector (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=11086#00Rz) , dropped from Chief Ukorz Sandscalp (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=7267) at less then 1.5% chance, and Sang'Thraze the Deflector (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=9379), from Antu'sul (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=8127) at less then 2% chance. The Stats and bitterness of actually creating this item is quite disappointing, as the Ice Barbed Spear (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19106) is a much better and more easily obtained weapon for a warrior. It took me about 36 ZF Runs to create this item, getting the Deflector on my first run.

It's not worh getting it for arms warrior or ret paladin.

It's just to fast wich means less dmg with Mortal Strike and Seal of Command

as a paladin you will have way more DPS with Kang the Decapitator (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=2291) or Ice barbed spear ofc

I just had my lvl 70 mage buddy run me through ZF, and I kid you not, I got BOTH halves of the sword in the same run! I couldn't believe it but it happened. Quite a way to grab my first epic!

This weapon is really hard to get unleast you are lucky one :) It took for me 25 runs to get both parts.
For my opinion this is really good weapon to grind from 50 to 60, an it's better than IBS.

Proc rate is about 2-3 ppm, so it adds 9-13 dps to this weapon, plus this damage is not mitigated by armor.
For me it procs every fight.

If we add into account IBS's stats, total DPS of IBS will be about 55.75, but this damage is reduced by armor.
Sul'thraze has 52.1 + 9-13 dps which is higher.

And this weapon looks AMAZING :)

Started doin ZF at lvl 43 and saw the sword that drop's of Antu Sul a couple of times before I got it at 47. At 51 a 70 troll shammy ran me and a couple kids through and the protecter dropped off the guy behind the gates after you free the orc, human, dwarf, and goblin from their cages. Goblin blew up the gate we went in and the sword dropped. Good sword, but as a 53 hunter now the sword is a little useless when the ice barb spear is sitting in your bag. Ice barb has +21 agility which my hunter needs, plus it does more dps but Sul Thraz is definently an awsome weapon for show and it looks awsome in the log in screen.

This sword is fairly usefull for any class that can use 2h swords. i found that on many such as warrior, paladin and hunter that this sword is a great step up. Don't waste too much time trying to obtain it though because there are better weapons roughly 1-5 levels away.

I got both halves over the course of 3 runs of ZF. I guess that's insanely lucky (I also had to outroll 2 people on each drop)... I can't wait to create this beast at lvl 50.

well, whether you get the sword or not seriously depends on your luck, as you can see from the posts before....

but seriously, unless you have a brilliant party, or a good high level runner... no point trying for it when ice barbed spear is within reach... even if the blade beats the spear...

because some people have to kill seargent bly... and even if you kill the chief, you have to roll for it, against rogues and warriors, and it might not even drop.

that's only for one of the two swords involved, to make things worse.

I got to level 50 and equipped this. I was happy but noticed that the two little skull things were't floating around the sword. I ignored it but then got kinda dissapointed so I got the greater impact enchant on it. That wouldn't glow either, was it effected by the patch? I was extremely lucky. I had a level 70 drag me through ZF for XP and drops. Nothing on my first run through, but on the second run through both one handers dropped on the same run! It may not be as good as the IBS, but with the hordes win rate in AV in my battlegroup, Ill take this any day of the week! Now I just need to get to level 50!

I have a Ret Paly and tossed Crusader on this sword. you have to appreciate the humor. Your enemy loses strength while you gain some. Great in pvp, and it does look awesome for its level. I also wanted it for no other reason than the rarity of it, I know some weapons are better, but this is the one I wanted.

Is it me or did they take the animation off the sword?

Currently this sword does not show any glow added by enchantments.

Apparently Blizzard are aware of this (see http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=288879750&postId=2885739412&sid=1#0 ) but my in-game petition was met with "working as intended".

It's a shame as it is a really very handsome weapon.

You forget that Ice Barbed Spear will do more damage everytime you mortal strike, sweeping strike, heroic strike, whirlwind etc.

Weapon normalisation only affects the attack power contribution, the full weapon damage is still added. Ice Barbed Spear does an average of 194 damage. Sul'thraze does 135.5 damage on average. So you are losing 60 damage on every special ability you use by taking Sul'Thraze over IBS.

Was running a guildie through this as a 68 warrior and both pieces dropped on one run, I would have killed for this at the appropriate level. Wonder if I just got really lucky or they raised the drop rate of it? Disenchanted into 4 small brilliant shards.

For a fury warrior, it might be better to keep the two blades separate and dual wield them. Both blades are very quick which will increase rage generation, and you still get the sword multiplier for instant attacks (2.4 speed). However, the Thrash Blade (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=17705) is easily attainable just a few levels later and would probably make a better main hand (for DPS anyway). For BG's, where you need a combination of DPS and defense, the holy shield from Jang'thraze might give you a (small) edge, but unless it procs like mad then it probably wouldn't be a noticeable help.

This took me a fair few runs to get, but it lasted me till about 54, i didnt want to level my polearm skill, and it looks great.

Kind of wish I read the comments and look at the rewards a little be more close prior to joining them.

I lucked out and got both peice from 2 runs. I am a lvl 46 Pally and could equip them both. In my haste and excitment i combined them to see the epic weapon. Only then did i discover that I not only could i not equip the Epic but i also couldnt seperate them either. So YAAA me for getting them at 46....dumb me for joining them and making a weapon I cant use for 4 more levels.

This sword is, if anything, more suitable for 2h Fury Warriors than for 2h Arms Warriors. The speed is awful for Arms warriors (I wouldnt take anything lower than 3.4 speed personally, or else you are dimping the damage your special attacks do horrendously).

Ice Barbed Spear beats the pants out of this sword for an Arms warrior, pure and simple. Its not opinion, its pure and simple maths.

I see a lot of people are comparing this to IBS and saying it is better, however there is one thing people are missing out and that is the proc. When I got this I was a ret paladin and this sword was awesome, coupled with the proc (which seemed to happen a lot for me) I found this sword better for me than the IBS.

You are sacrificing higher, consistant damage for a bursty proc. Sure, that might work well in 1v1 PvP, but in PvE content you're absolutely gimping your damage output.

You do not know how lucky I feel after hearing other people's stories about this weapon. Although this may anger some, I received this weapon after just 2 runs of the Zul'farrak instance. Although it did take me another 9 runs just to get the Vice Grips to drop!

You are also forgetting the damage decrease for warriors's specific weapons spec in arms tree.

For swords, you want the slowest sword possible so that once that extra swing procs, it will hit hard, not low damage like this weapon

Also spec'd into deep wound, impale, and blood frenzy, all of which are affected directly by crit, the poleaxe spec would increase crit by 5% and there fore you would be critting huge ms's due to the slow IBS speed and high damage on it.

I got this for my pally and when she outgrew it, I decided to keep it for fun and put an enchant on it to make it look cool.

I put Demonslaying on it and the result was absolutely no glow at all. Curious if others have tried this and gotten a glow.

Well, Skulver was talking about losing 60 damage per skill. If that happens, wont the proc replace its missing damage? Plus i like the dot, its good for PvP especially for me. The enemy always slips with few drips of life.

I think Sul'Thraze is more of a PvP weapon. I find it way better than IBS if you wana pvp and it looks dam cooler. Cause PROC weps are mostly about luck. I mean you might get triple procs in a row which deals blasting nuking damage. But it lacks in stats. However, i prefer IBS. Since, i am less lucky. I would want to get this just for the looks when i have time. Dam cool green skulls.

personally, i think that Sul'thraze is pretty good, but it can still be replaced by IBS, because of the stats. but still, it is pretty cool because it can do a maximum of 335 damage by just procing alone. and IBS has a much slower speed. anyway, this is still a great sword for warriors/pallys and is an ultimate tank weapon.

Got it and had it waiting in the bank since the character was 46, I put Savagery on it just now... seems to do pretty good. I don't care if that polearm is better in one level, I'll get that too, I level all my weapon skills as equally as I can...

Its just a great weapon if you arms warrior for quick dps.

now, i know this not a hunter wep =p, but if you have guidlies help you out. or friends, (or in my case nice ppl, none of who could wield this so let me need the 2 seperate swords for this. and my hunter got it in (didnt count) but roughly 6 runs

Now, i will agree, this goes to any pally or warrior first, whomever gets, the prc itself is a very nice debuff actually, and can crit, (DoT damage from what i have seen has no plus effects from Spell damage frm what i tested out)

now, since most people want IBS, on PvP servers most people might actually let you get the swords (unless the tanks need in which case no one be a huntard rogue'tard and ect.)

For those of you looking to score their first epic (non-pvp epic on pvp servers) this is the easiest to get, so sword collectors unite and farm this beauty.

Having played a hunter. And having gotten this, I can say without a doubt that it makes for a great conversation peice with warrior :)

(No I didn't nab it from a warrior, friend ran me threw and it happened to drop)

But anyone who can weild it and arn't interested in it's "epic factor" or for leveling (such as a person who has friends or a bored 70).

This sword goes with many armor sets. The Unholy enchant effect (saves you from actually having to get it) along with the design adds a great deal of "creepyness" to it which is great for RPers. Any dark plate for a warrior or paladin weilding this (or various other dark swords) could RP the DK role. As for the hunters I'm not sure what the hero class would be called but I do know there was a dark archer model in warcraft 3 that someone could play off of. This is a great WoW lore sword, a must have for anyone who can weild 2h swords and likes to develop "characters" for there toons.

The thing is more or less a trophy weapon, as the lack of stats are the biggest problem. Better to grab Ice Barbed spear. That hasn't stopped me from storing this thing in the bank though, it's still a fairly cool looking weapon.

Ok you people are missing something here. first of all, this is great for warriors. sure IBS is better but who cares? this is decent and maybe someone doesnt want IBS for god knows what reason.

second, the threat on the proc is MASSIVE. because you can 2h tank everything until Hellfire Ramparts (we are talking 5 mans) this is THE best tank wep pre-outlands. at 3-4 PPM according to my calculations using a 500 top aggro, the proc generates a good 75 aggro, which is outstanding for a proc. Comparing this to Thunderfury's 92 aggro, this is very good.

anyway just my 2 cents. pick it up and use it if you want it, get IBs if you want it

Ok, people who don't Understand that this here is for ret paladins and fury warriors, are just going after stats and dosent care about coh's that is super awesome!

+13 Strength, Ok, for a warrior/hunter/paladin, 13 strength is around 6 ap

+21 Agility, Ok, for a warrior/hunter/paladin, this is 2+ armor, 0.3 + crit chance and 15+ ap

+20 Stamina Ok, for a warrior/hunter/paladin, this is exactly 200hp (225 for taurens becouse of endurance)

these stats gives u, 21 ap, 200hp, 2+ armor and 0.3 crit chance,

the damage of IBS (155 - 233 Damage), Indicates that this is for a strong class, easier said Warriors/Prot paladins?

the speed (Speed 3.60] Indicates that this, once again is for a strong class, (Warriors/prot paladins?)

the damage of Sul'thraze the lasher is 108 - 163 Damage and 2.60 in speed indicates DPS, which is MOST HAVE for Ret paladins/fury warriors

the dps of Sul'thraze is 52.1 damage per second

The dps of IBS is 53.9 damage per second, but the coh of sul'thraze that proccs atleast once in the fight, Indicates around, 10+ dps,

I've seen so many Hunters with this, it's just plain silly. Hunter's should not be meleeing, and even a level 10 green weapon would be better than this. The only reason a hunter should have this is if he/she is a collector and likes how it looks, but nevertheless-if the Hunter needed Sang'Thraze/Jang'Thraze over their tank I will go slap them. :)

Just had an odd night, did 2 full runs of ZF and both parts dropped, when i used to lvl up alts here i barley seen one of them drop never mind both swords on both runs!!

Ended up with Me getting both swords and making the epic, plus Sang'thraze for tanking with. result :)

Hunter got the 2 swords as well i think for the looks.

Odd was the rogue who wanted both to combine them... replies of EPIC, EPIC lol least the hunter an me can show it off :d

Both component blades are .5% drops, so it is statisticaly stupid to just try to do bunches of runs to get both, but if both do drop for you, don't worry a hunter is just going to ninja them.

When i was level 42, after doing many SM runs in hope of getting the set, and realising plate is much better, my guild mates asked me did i want to join them in a ZF run. Anyway i joined them and Sang'thraze dropped! My guildmates let me have it and so we continued. We didnt do the chief that time.

The next time i was in ZF (tanking with sang'thraze :P )when we faught the Chief, Big bad pauldrons dropped and my guildies let me have it.

After that i was talking to a friend who was level 61 about stuff. He had gotten his epic mount and was so happy he said he help me with something, so i asked would he help me do ZF for Jang'thraze. He said sure and the night we did it, it dropped! Yay for me! But i was like level 45/6 then so i duel wielded them on my fury warrior till i got to level 50 and then combined them.

This sword is awesome. Its effect (which is similar to unholy methinks) goes off quite regularly, and has helped me often enough. Im gonna level up my enchanting and put either unholy or life stealing on it. Just gotta save up some dream dust and then grind major sta on shield.

On a side note, my warrior friend was going for this aswell. Jang'thraze dropped for him and he got it, but when the brother sword some retard rogue needed. But these swords are awesome tanking weapons and there are better weapons out there for rogues. If you are a rogue or a hunter, please let the warrior or palladiin have. Sure the hunter may want the epic, but for the love of god theres a reason why you have awesome ranged attacks. Dont vito them in favour of some dodgy close combat. Paladins, and warriors in particular are much more suited for these swords. Sadly Sang'thraze never dropped again for my friend so he vendored Jang'thraze in disgust.

And for all you warriors and pallies out there, this sword is awesome. Get it, love it.

Sang'thraze the Deflector dropped for me on my 2nd ZF run. MT and MA didn't want it so I got to roll greed as a hunter. Used it for a few levels, until I made 52 and now it's gathering dust in favor of 2x Dawn's Edge.

Got the Protector the first shot on Sand Scalp and then ran Anta'sul until it dropped (about 13 runs). No need to pug it, guild run. They all knew who was getting it. Another reason not to PUG.

Earlier today i ran ZF for the third time and was playing with the idea that maybe a sword would drop, got to Antu'sul thinking "Lucky if it drops of him". BAM theres the sword, i asked the group and they let me have =), then we got to Chief and i thought it would never drop, BAM theres jang! i couldnt believe it, but it gets better. Ran a second time and BAM theres Sang again! then the next run after that ANOTHER sang! i passed on both of the latter ones. Im stoked, the proud new owner of a Sul'Thraze the lasher =)

Took a few runs, about 20 in all. Got lucky while helping a guildie run through at level 53, and the one dropped off the chief. Two days later, and about 16 runs, the other drops for me. It was so totally worth it. I wouldn't try to farm both pieces, but if the chief drops his, go for it. The chiefs sword is more difficult to get, as I understand it there isn't a way to avoid doing the stupid "200 troll event", and the basilisk guy is easily farmable <did it with a 55 paladin and 60 priest>... BTW this thing procs like a beast, and the proc can "crit" as well. Sometimes it won't proc for two or three fights, but then it'll proc two or three times in one, I'd say it averages out to about once per battle.

A few days ago I was helping 2 friends in ZF. We invited a warrior just to help as many as possible. The warrior told us about 2 swords you could combine to 1 epic sword. We didn't know anything about that, but when we came to Antu'sul the first sword drops. When we came to Chief the other one dropped. The warrior got them both and made it to Sul'thraze the Lasher. Pretty anoying because I have a lvl 46 warrior on another server.

Both swords dropped in one run for me. We killed Antu and got the offhand. We went to the stairs, and right before we left the hunter that got the first one left. I didnt know that the two formed a sword until after the captain dropped the mian hand. So both went to opposite people and unfortunately I can't say we got the epic sword in one run.

This sword took me 56 runs to get. i ran them consecutive.... took me 10 lvls and almost 2 weeks to complete. This sword is TOTALLY worth it. . . now to get my BS up to armor and get some money to put crusader on my new baby... ^_^

man i remember when i was lvl 44 and the Jang thraze dropped at this party i was in, me and this other warrior rolled for it and i still remember the numbers that made me !@#$ myself. he rolled a 98, i rolled a full 100. after that roll he logged off. i guess he must have thrown his computer at the wall

anyways then i spent like 40g on runs through ZF just for Antu Sul and on the 17th run it dropped for me. luckely i was ran through so i had no competition but i was so happy i had paid my runner 30g :D.

anyway still waiting for the epic and ive heard all the good stuff about it.

I've still to get the one that Ukorz drops (Oh, I can't just remember whether it was Jang' or Sang' and I'm too lazy to search it), to complete the blade. When I got the one from Antu'Sul, me and an another warrior rolled need rolls for it. She already had the other part, and cursed me to the lowest of hells for winning the roll and put me on her ignore list. If, by any chance, she's reading this, (she'll know it's me writing this), I'm terribly sorry you couldn't complete the blade then, but really, this is just a game, you shouldn't be taking this seriously.

I'm sure I'll get the other blade some day, but I'm starting to get mad, for I've done about 20 runs and never seen it. But some day...

It took m 23 runs to get both by the time i did them i already was 49 and almost 50 so i guess it wasn't that bad cause it sucks to have a really cool weapon and not being able to use it :-(

Today on 3/8/07 I got a whisp bout if I would like to come and run ZF. I thought about it for a sec looked at the clock and thought what the heck. This was my first time running ZF on my lvl 47 Belf pally so i was hoping to get some good gear. about 10 min into the run a Percisialy Calibrated Broomstick drops so that was really cool, i lost the roll of course with my bad luck. So we get to the first boss and easily beat him and what do ya know the first sword drops. I knowing what it was instantly rolled need. In my group was another Belf pally who asked to roll need and did but amazingly i won the roll by 8. Which got me smiling and wishing and praying that the next sword would drop sometime when sul' thaze would actually be of use to me. But we worked our way through the instance with ease and we finally get to the final boss. By this time i know the odds our against me but, i was really hoping for some big bad pauldrens. We drop the boss in a matter of secs and i go to see what dropped then all the sudden my jaw dropped... There on my screen was the second sword. I was speechless. I am most thankful that I had a group that automatically all passed on the sword and gave it to me. The other Belf Pally Wuzzi whom i have the upmost respect now made my day. Thank-you and good luck to everyone in their search for the swords..

Got this today =) first the Jang'thraze yesterday and no luck on the other... then i did one run today and Jang'thraze dropped again, bit funny.
And then Sang'thraze dropped on my second run of this day with 2 lvl 60 in party =)

today i was doing zf for the sole reason of getting the jang half of the sword. anyways we get up to the steps and just a we are killing all the trolls our priest gets dc. so we have our poor lil shamman heal us with all his ability.........so anaway we get through the whole thing pretty much unscaved. so we heal up run up the the cheif bam we kill him. at this point im thinking to myself its not ganna drop.........but BAM it does! i was like wooooooo my first epic (i already had teh ada half of the sword). so i got my party to gather round as i rightclicked this fabulous item. they clapped and cheared as i finally summoned the mighty blade of "Sul'thraze the Lasher". the one comment i made was "thats one fat *!@#$". anyway thats my story bout 7 runs in total to get both swords

Why are warriors such a whiny bunch of babys? No other class whines about weapons like a warrior. It's annoying as hell and not so tuff. I solo'd for mine. Less whineing, more grinding and get it baby warriors!

It only took me 4 runs to get this sword on my Belf pala. First Jang'thraze dropped when I was being boosted at lvl 40. At that time I didn´t realize how lucky I was. so when I was lvl 45 and on my 4th run through ZF Sang'thraze dropped and I went nuts when lvl 46 warrior needed it too but I won and left group almost immediately. Cant wait to get to LVL 50!

I had both swords drop for me over 4 runs in ZF. Won the first sword on a Need roll against a pally. On my fourth run Jan'thraze dropped. I wasn't expecting it to drop at all considering how low the drop rate is, I was quite suprised. I had to beg a hunter in my party to not roll on Jan'thraze when it dropped, lol. He wanted to need it, thank god my whole party convinced him to pass. It's NOT a hunter sword.
I'm a Lvl 47 pally right now and I'm excited to get to 50 to use this sword.

I am a PVE Arms warrior who just got this sword. But before i got this i used the Kang with Crusader enchant. I do way more dmg with the axe and crit more often... but the axe is a lvl 44 weapon and this is a 50, should i vendor this sword and use the axe and if so, how long should i use it? What weapon do i want after this sword/axe?

LoL, was doing ZF with a 48 mage and both dropped in one run on Khadgar EU, so now at level 60 I got myself this neat little toy to play with. ^^

You have to kill the Basilisk Boss and the Chief, then you must have very luck that they drop the 2 swors...

Hunter weapon? huuunter wapon! WTF!
What would a hunte with a weapon do, that has no stats? yeah i'm a hunter i can also melee! yes one or two times each instance you have to because your mana is down... i play a long time and no hunter do melee not even the survive-skilled hunters!
for you hunters, go to AV with quest, see that you win, go and take your IBS, that has ^&*!ing nice stats and do BÄM! and let the swords to Warriors or when the warrior don't want it, let the paladin have his fun

BTW, IBS for a Warrior? you kidden me... i will take the crossbow, it has nice stats! why i would do this? so thats very easy to understand
how much distanz weapons with nice stats do you became up to lvl 60? not much, but 2h swords or other weapons lie on your way, thats the reason i would take the crossbow and not IBS in AV... and i hope even now, that Baron Rivendare give me his sword ;)

Took my hunter (level 60) to Zul'Farrak tonight for a bit of solo-farming.

First run: The Chief boss dropped Jang'thraze, Antu'sul dropped some plate blue gear.
Second run: Antu'sul dropped Sang'thraze.

The Loot Gods were smiling on this hunter this evening.
So now Dobmeister the 60 Dwarf Hunter of Thunderhorn-EU is the proud owner of Sul'thraze the Lasher. Can't decide on an enchant yet.

Well to all you who have done several runs I ran it the first time with my pally and got both swords in one shot. But now I half to wait 5 levels :(

So it comes down to this:
Warriors > Pally > Hunter
If you aren't one of these three classes, you should never roll "need" for either sword that combines to form Sul'thraze. Go L2_not_be_a_!@#$%.

Very nice sword - I ran about 20 times without either dropping, then got both in the same run. Combined two levels later to form.

Overall, I find that ripsaw (+4) with a shield is a good compliment to Sul'thraze - you shouldn't use Sul'thraze for tanking, but in pvp it's amazing.

PS. This sword was made for warriors; if you say "need", you should go sit in the corner and talk to your imaginary friends (because you won't have any real ones after you roll need). If you roll for even the individual parts to make this sword, you're an ass. Here's why:

*Note Rogues, Druids, Locks, Mages, Priests, and Shammys cannot use 2-handed swords.

Warriors: Two-hand, +dps, +burst damage. PERFECT.
Pally: Two-hand, +dps. DECENT.

Rogue: Can't 2-hand, individual parts suck (comparatively) for a rogue, no +agi, no +dmg, low dps. ROGUES WHO NEED ON SUL'THRAZE PARTS ARE BASTARDS.

Hunter: Not as bad as rogues, but no +agi and any hunter who'd rely on melee has problems. HUNTERS WHO NEED SHOULD FIRST CONSULT THE PARTY WARRIOR, THEN PARTY PALLY.

Cool sword to level with, good dps and a nice proc. Speed is a bit fast, but for for leveling it's not a big deal. See it alot more now then I used to too, alts really put in their time to get it.

Got both of the swords on runs through by friends

I got the first one wen i lvl 60 warrior ran me and friend through and the second wen a 70 rogue friend ran me thourgh.
i had to reset the instances once, and on the secdons run, it dropped

can't wait till 50!

Well I finally got both swords! I was lucky with Antul, he dropped the sword after about 10 runs.. From lv 49 till 53 I did straight ZF runs and finally the chief boss dropped it (i must of done 40-50 runs in total). Funny thing was my cousin just picked it up an hour before I did :). What are odds lol. There is a little trick to getting this sword, you can avoid most of the instance by mounting up at the begginning and riding all the way to the pyramid and jumping to the ledge on the side :), the mob will reset- clear part of the ground near the steps of the pyramid so when you do the 100 man war they dont run up and and attack. When the war is over speak to the goblin and he will blow up the gate that leads to the chief- avoid the fight with NPC's its just time consuming. You will need to kill 2 patrols walking through the passage and they walk in single file so you will need to fight them both at the same time. When you come to the exit where the chief is you can avoid fighting the lizards on the sides by just running past them, run to the boss and take him and his guard out and pray he drops it. IF you can get a lv 60 frost mage it makes the 100 man war very easy, he runs down freezes the whole mob and then ice shards them till theyre dead (he will need a healer) if it gets sticky, he will have to do that 3 times but if done right the war finishes in 2 minutes rather then 10. Dont let anyone tell you the sword isnt worth it, its an awesome sword which has 2 orbs that sprial around the end of the blade, does fantatsic damage and it decreases the enemies strength and does a heap of shadow damage- I put fiery enchant on it +40 so its owning atm :) with all the damage attributes it has- im a pally so seal of righteousness is giving me just over 100 additional damage as well at lv 53- All up im doing about 400 damage a hit and if i get the damage attributes kicking in and a crit its wll over 700 :). Me and a 60 had the run down to about 15-20 minutes so once you find your groove and understand how to do it, it will only take a couple of days :). Happy Hunting!

a friend was levling enchanting and was running through ZF over and over again.

I asked if I could join to maybe have a chance to get these two weapons and then get the epic sword.. he said okey, sure.

I think I was level 40 then.

we went in.. killed first boss, and cheers, the sword. :D

And then I had to wait 10 levels befor I could combine them. But Dualwielding them is really sweet. Good dps and all, I had a arms specc with points in axe/polearm so I wasnt really specced sword, but I had better dps then with a polearm. =)

And as soon as I got to 50, combined and enchanted with Crusader, specced sword.
Got a imba combo before today. Was in Ungoro killing a gorilla, and like *swoosch swoosch*, I got a extra attack, and got in the chance on hit here, and even procced crusader two times. the strength buff didnt stack, but I got healedx2. 85+96 or something like that.. not much, but was sweet. :D

If you'd just wait one more level, you can get Ice Barbed Spear just for winning AV once. It has more DPS, better stats, and is slower for MS warriors and SoC pallies. The only thing you lose is the proc, which isn't too great and not very reliable. If you get lucky and obtain both swords, then go ahead and enjoy this baby, but there's really no need to go out of your way to get this when IBS is better and easier to obtain.

to ryohzk yes you can still have. all you need to do is equip jang'thraze the protector and right click it while it is in your inventory. you will be creating it. then you have the sword. i am a pally and i have it. just check out my profile.

Eugh, a spear... nothing less suitable for me. And of course I'm talking about the Ice Barbed Spear mentioned before. Really, it's not always for something being better technically. It's the feeling. To hell with spears, axes, maces and whatnot, my Night Elf warrior uses swords, and swords only! (Yeah, noone's interested, I know...)

LOL-56 runs and now ur...what 51-52 something like that right? Yeah now do AV and get IBS and kiss ur sword goodbye.U just wasted so much time to use it for one lvl...ah the pain u must feel. It does look cool(i have it). I got it in 5 runs at most and boom i was 50 and used it one lvl and DE it and got IBS. Guys do not grind for this sword-its not worth it, u use it for one lvl and vendor it or DE it. I was very lucky to get this in 5 runs but still, all this for one maybe two lvls on use...cmon guys. Be smart

This sucks that something as awesome as this it has a great proc and great damage but it sucks cuz my lvl 45 rogue has both sang'thraze and jang'thraze the weaps u need to combine in order to make sul'thraze but anyway it sucks that something thats looks so sweet like this will be disenchanted once i find better weaps then sang'thraze and jang'thraze cuz im going to combine them to make sul'thraze as soon as i find weaps that deal more damage and then im goin to DE it and ill prolly gettin a piece of crap nexxus crystal they arent rlly worth anything now that burning crusade has come out.

My friend/Guild Master on Gilneas has it...both weapons dropped for him and he won the rolls, but it took him a long time...not sure how many runs...

Anyway, it looks just like the sword Warmongerer, with an unholy enchant spell on it...you know the two green orbs that orbit the weapon.

Got the two swords on my alt Warri last Weekend on my first run. I was 44 then and couldn`t use the MH. But these Swords are crap, I am 47 now, and Dual Vanquisher's Sword and Thrash Blade a much better choice.

i got the first sword today i was like Righteous (was the whole reason i was there) the cheef dropped the pauldrons i was like Righteous
ran a second time and bam the second one dropped and i was like ok im never comming back here...!
luckely i have a guild that ran my belf through for me to get it now i need to lvl 8 times to use it i can even make the sword for 3 more lvls cause oyu need to equip it. in response to Ice Barb i see them every where and i dont have the will to go through god knows how many AV's to get it at least this way i got exp ^.^

How can you accidently combine it? Call of Sul'Thraze is a 10 second cast spell to combine the swords.

Also, Jang just dropped for me(pally). Gonna farm for Sang this week.

I get it last night, i started to go zf since lvl 42 and i get Sang'thraze the Deflector at lvl 47, but the other part didn't wanna drop till last night, i have promissed my self that would be the last time i go zf, and at last Jang'thraze the Protector droped, i'm now a lvl 52 warrior and i think i can use it till lvl60 : )

A friend and I were linked this by a guildy last night, and we've both set out to get it... We've both got a level 60 (Him a dr00d, me a pala)...

Just to say, if I had either of this sword's halves drop on my Pala, I'd have passed it to the tank, w/o hesitation, as it's not got a single stat useful, in epic form or not... But if it was versus a hunter, I can see my finger click neid...

Also, it's got nothing benefitial for any of the seals...

It was awesome. My group was doing antu'sul and sang drops. I roll against a rogue and I win! Then later we do the chief then jang drops and my group let me have it. Not to mention i won a rare polearm in the same zf run. Luck loved me that day. Now on to slaughtering things with my new epic....

I'd a lot rather want Destiny than this sword, even tough it isn't quite as unique it still looks good and is MUCH easier to get!

Not even close to worth getting, compared to an ice barb. Although it's nice and shiny, and epic. That's about it.

eh yeah sure, Ice Barbed really isn't that good ye know, yeah okay it's good for a MS warrior, but MS warriors aren't the only warriors u know... this is really nice for a fury warrior or a paladin for seals'n stuff, i'd definately say that at this level if you have the money or the time, you should either get this sword or Destiny!

so on my little dwarf paly i was getting a run through from a 60 rogue with a little help from a druid and i was running it to get the big bad pauldrons and didnt instead jang dropped(only like 2nd time ever running ZF). The next time we went......BOOM....sang.....no lie got sul'thraze in 2 runs...call me a bad ass

I got the bottom half of this piece in ZF after first boss and the second half of the piece after the third boss... All in the same run... Luck I guess... Can't wait for 1/2 level for forge it into this...

after reading how people got each half on the same run and on one run after another i didnt believe it ... until i got sang'thraze last night and then jang'thraze tonight... wooot i got me an epic :)

I've done a grand total of 10 1/2 - 3/4 ZF runs on Lethon and tonight the bassalisk boss dropped his blade, then two runs later sandscalp dropped his.

A hunter tried to tell me if the second blade he needed dropped he'd take it over me, a @#$%ing hunter taking a weapon with no hunter stats over a warrior. Little prick.

This sword took me TWO runs. On the first we skipped the Antu guy and went straight to the Chief, he dropped Jang'thraze. 2 days later I decided to go again, we killed the chief, and before we left we wanted to kill Antu for Sang. Better believe it, he dropped it and I got it. I thought to myself, "UN-*!@#ING BELIEVEABLE, WOOOHOOO!" So im a happy Warrior ^.^

I was helping a group of guildies in ZF and when we downed the chief the protector dropped, since I was the only one that could make us of it, they let me have it.

Then after that I reset the instance and went to the croc boss, solo'd him and he dropped the deflector.

Right after that I helped some lower guildies in Deadmines and used the 2 swords to duel wield, and after we killed Vencleef I combined the swords.

It may not be the strongest or most useful sword, but it looks really nice and it's rare, good enough for me. =)

So after about 15 runs through ZF i was tired of it. I had had the protecter ninja'd from me twice once by a PUG and another by guildes. I find that messed up... anyways, In hopes of grabbing the big bad pauldrens i ran one last time and low and behold both swords dropped.

Rolled on both and won! now i just need 1 more lvl so i can use this sword. My first epic.

Im very pleased.

This sword is amazing.
The very first time I ran through ZF the sang sword droppped and ofcourse, not knowing the power that it, and its brother weilded, i rolled greed with my other party members. Believ it or not i won that roll with a perfect 100, Luckey me!
Now the second part of the magical combination of sul'thraze, Jang'thraze, has only about a 3%(roughly) drop rate. I figured it wouldn't be too much different in likelyhood of drop as the Sang'thraze sword(5% roughly) although iwas sadly mistaken.
That sword caused so much hell for me, I must have run Zf over 35 times day after day hoping one day that this sword would even drop. FINALLY!
FINALLY Jang'thraze dropped and I had talked it over with my group and they all were nice enough to let me have it. THANK YOU. I'll never forget how badly I was shaking once I had gotten the second sword.

Afterward...This sword is SOO much more powerful than some may think it is.....(Hint: people that cannot use this sword are all envious and angry so they just claim that it sucks)
I was on Boat to Theramore and i decided to use my newly found 2h weapon by challenging a lvl 56 human warrior to a duel. I sicked my pet on him and hid in the shadows while my pet faught him untill his health was around half, then I charged in after one Aimed shot and one Arcane shot and one Cold eye casting. The duel lasted for another 10 second while I sliced him to bits with my Sul'thraze The LASHER!
lvl 50 BEAT a pretty good lvl 56! WOOHOO

The first time i ran ZF jang'thraze dropped and a hunter need rolled against me for it.. i was pissed about that , but the next day i ran ZF again which was only my second time and both swords dropped , everyone else in my party ( me 44 warrior, 2 shaman, 1 priest 1 mage) passed each time so i got them both in the same run

Hehe in arathi basin i saw a horde hunter with it. I took out y own Sul'thraze and wiped him over the blacksmith with it :D. Silly hunters.

By the way, glowy enchants dont show on it (cos it allready has a glow, well skull, on it methinks). Was really dissapointed when i put lifestealing on it and it didnt shine purple. Oh well. Unless life stealing doesnt shine. :(

Ok I have a level 70 hunter and and a 51 Warr that has the combined sword.

Any hunter that thinks he/she needs this is a retard. They would be better of with a green that has some stats on it. Like Agi, stam and or AP duh.

jang thraze dropped before i even knew its existence...me and some pally rolled and i rolled like a 32...luckily he rolled a 12 i giggled silently

i was pretty pleased and as soon as i saw i could get an epic from em im like "helll yerrrr" so i started doin ZF every chance i got...my mate, whos a hunter, just got Zin'rokh, destroyer of worlds and he was pretty pleased so he offered some runs to try it out lol....he shreded thru like 4 runs but it didnt drop

then a 70 mage and 70 priest offered a run or two if they got all the mageweave...me and my 2 lvl 45 mates where like "yer foshizzle manizzle" so we did it and on the second it dropped

i was prdy pleased and now gotta wait..got fiery on it AND IT BETTER SHOW cause if it does itd look radness

So, I am warrior. Pretty happy warrior!

Every noob warrior have polearm from AV, even my grandpa have it!(rest in peace old one)

I would advise you to take loodseeker, imba stats and i am sure warrior can play to 60 with this awesome weapon. It tooks me lot's of runs to have it, even droped Sang'thrase the Deflector for tanking 2'nd time. When you get(as i did)60 The Unstoppable Force is 3-4 days in AV grinding. I am sure that Sul'thrase the Lasher is very nice for pallys too. BTW i am fury, very efective prock with attack speed increase. Only could advise hunters and rogues to pass little swords, warriors deserve it! Paladins can take better AV spear easier.

Found the main part in my 2nd run, wasent looking for it, dident even know it existed, got second peice in 3rd run. But still lv 48 so no point combining till im level 50, doesent matter since both kick ass duel wield..

Im a lvl 45 rogue, and got both of them at lvl 44, by my first 2 runs at ZF. I needed on the deflector, because mine was much worse, then the others told me at the other run to get the other one too. the worst, that i wanted to use that epic for RP-ing.. but rogues cant use two-handed sword.. - . -

I FINALLY GOT IT! im a hunter and i like this sword for melee (because face it when a warrior charges you in BG your gonna melee) Sang thraze dropped on my 1st zf run and i never knew it forged this so i passed, got jang thraze 2 runs later and realized aww crap i needed that sword.. 30 runs later i finally got sang thraze and now i have this ^^

OK we all know that you get ibs after some AV but for the time being, this saves some money and after im done i'll make some money.Hunters cry if you want but this sword just want cut it for yall.Pallys, Warr dont wast your time grinding it but if your lucky like me and you do happen apon it combine and world pvp.

This is quite possibly the most overrated weapon in the game. I can't tell you how many players have begged for runs and salivated over this with their 'OMG! I have one of the swords! I need the other so I can get my EPIC!' It's good for ret palies but that's about it, yet I see even hunters crapping their pants over this. You can get the much better Ice Barbed Spear for significantly less effort. Heck even a noob hunter can sit around AV and be useless and still get it.

ive done ZF like 8 times, the 7th run was good (got my big bad pads and and healing gear), but my 8th dropped sang and jang.

I got the first piece when they both dropped but a priest ninjaed the other piece. 7 runs and over 14 hours later the second piece drops and i roll a 98. I a lvl 55 warrior but this should be good till 60.

Lvl 45 and using jang'thraze. Needing sang'thraze to make sul'thraze i got to wondering....does it take both swords when u make?

I look it up and says the components are sang'thraze x1. Is this wrong or can i keep jang'thraze and use sul'thraze as a solo weapon?

This thing is trash. You're frankly better off dual wielding the two blues. No stats + fast swing time + pretty lame proc = no dice.

To people reading this during Classic and wondering just how good this epic two-hander is:

It's complete garbage.

"But it's an epic" - No one cares. This is not vanilla, it's Classic. We're not kids anymore. People aren't going to be amazed by your having this weapon - they'll laugh at you for wasting your time on an epic that's worse than a same-level blue or +5lvl green.

"But it has high DPS" - how much of an Arms warrior's damage comes from auto-attacks?

"But it's good for Rets" - SoC has a PPM, so the faster attack speed doesn't change anything. With such a fast weapon, you will be using SoR, which is worse than SoC. Also, if you want a weapon like this, then just get Brain Hacker - you'll find it cheap on the AH because no one wants it either.

"But it's good for 2H Fury" - yeah, except that your Whirlwind will hit like a wet noodle. This weapon is a compromise pick for Fury, at best. Also, refer to the Brain Hacker note above.

If you get Sul'thraze on your first ZF run or during your ZF farm runs while leveling, then good for you. Keep it and use it until you find a better weapon (which will happen quite soon). Literally any weapon from the list below would be better than Sul'thraze:

PS - if you're a hunter, you can just vendor this. Even a 5lvl green weapon with +1 Agility would be better than this.

I just ran ZF tonight, first dungeon in months, and both sword dropped and I greeded on it and lost not realizing it was good -.- then the second sword dropped! rip me.

While at first glance this weapon seems incredibly poor despite its Epic quality, it actually turns out to be kind of okay. This is purely due to the abnormally high PPM of the chance on hit effect. Based on my personal experimentation this thing procs 2.5 per minute. When testing this sword on level 50 mobs I had it proc on practically every single encounter.

The Shadow damage caused by it is also obviously unmitigated by armor. It can be resisted, though.

The -15 Strength debuff goes off all the time, and it translates into a -30 AP decrease for your target. We know that +14 AP equates to 1 DPS, so the proc effectively reduces your target's DPS by 2.14. While the Strength reduction is low, it does make a difference in the long term: in 60 seconds of active debuffs on your target you would have reduced your physical damage taken by 128-129 thanks to it.

Average instant damage/proc: (90+210)/2 = 150
Additional DoT damage/proc = 125
Procs per minute = ~2.5
Additional DPS increase from proc: (150*2.5/60)+(125*2.5/60) = 6.25+5.21 = 11.46
Weapon's total DPS: 11.46+52.12 = 63.58

As we see based on the simple calculations above, the weapon's true DPS stands at 63.58. When compared to the popular Ice Barbed Spear, Sul'thraze's total DPS easily ekes ahead. Obviously the speed is still going to be an issue that renders it clearly worse than the polearm for cleaving. The speed also makes it unappealing to Retribution Paladins using Seal of Command, but the sword's chance-on-hit effect more than makes up for that.

In summary, Sul'thraze is a fine weapon at 50 and for a few levels forwards, but you shouldn't spend an inordinate amount of time trying to obtain it nor should you invest large amounts of gold in enchanting it. Essentially a Stoneslayer from Archaedas outperforms it in cleaves. However, if AV weekends don't line up for you in the 51-60 leveling process, this sword could easily take you all the way to 60 and you wouldn't feel totally useless carrying it. It's also worth noting that most Warriors and Paladins on the Alliance side are Humans, and their +5 Sword skill racial synergizes well with this sword.

Besides, when you get your IBS at 51, you'd still have to grind your Polearm skill from 1 to 255, and as a Warrior you'd have to repick your talents for . With two-handed swords, axes or maces you have clear weapon progression paths from 30 to 60 allowing you to stick to your spec and to rarely (if ever) having to spend time Hamstring-spamming low level mobs to get your weapon skill up.

All in all, I would be stoked to get my hands on this weapon while leveling, but I wouldn't run Zul'Farrak any more than is required for the completion of all quests and to satisfy my thirst for killing trolls. I obtained this on my Paladin before reaching level 60 when I went to help guild mates finish their ZF run, but I never replaced by IBS with it. After I did a sufficient amount of testing to determine the PPM of this thing at 60, I now, in hindsight, would have to reconsider that decision. I mean, IBS sometimes deals more damage, but Sul'thraze performs more predictably -- this just means you have to use Seal of Righteousness and preferably Improved Seal of Righteousness instead of SoC.

Something to note.
The 2 swords that combine to make this can be equiped as low as level 46 (maybe even lower), but to equip this combined sword you need to be level 50. So if you have both just dual wield them until then.
