Add Your Own Sockets? Gouged Eye of N'Zoth Added to 8.3 PTR

A mysterious new item has been found in the database for this PTR called the Gouged Eye of N'zoth. The tooltips seem to indicate that you can use it to upgrade an item to have a socket.
This new item is called
Occhio Cavato di N'zoth
. It reads the following:
Use: Twist latent corruption into a socket on equipment that does not already have a socket.
Some related spells have also been found:
Occhio Cavato di N'zoth
,
Occhio Cavato di N'zoth
,
Occhio Cavato di N'zoth
and
Occhio Cavato di N'zoth
. The last is one is the most interesting because it seems to trigger the pop up message:
Are you sure you want to upgrade this item?
Remember that is this is the PTR and we have no idea how this item will drop, or if this is actually in the game. But if this is how this item will work, this should be pretty cool!
