Covenant Swap in Patch 9.1.5 - Unlocking Free Covenant Swaps

One of the biggest changes with Patch 9.1.5 is the ability to swap freely between covenants at any time without any cost or barrier. Today we are previewing how this feature plays out in Patch 9.1.5 and all steps required to swap covenants freely.
Note that everything in this post represents the current state of the 9.1.5 PTR. Changes might happen when Patch 9.1.5 goes live and we will have updated posts and guides when that happens.
Unlocking Free Covenant Swaps in Patch 9.1.5
Unlocking free covenant swaps is really simple. All you need to do is to reach Renown 80 with a character to earn
Saranno famosi
. Currently, earning this achievement on the PTR unlocks free covenant swap
to all characters in your account
.
This means that after reaching Renown 80 with one character, all your characters can swap covenants freely as many times as they desire.
Swapping Covenants in Patch 9.1.5
In order to swap Covenants, you must go to Oribos, to the Covenants Embassies. There you can find the four Covenant Emissaries:
Polemarco Adrestes
from the Kyrian
Secutor Mevix
from the Necrolord
Dama Baccaluna
from the Night Fae
Generale Draven
from the Venthyr
You may talk to each Covenant Emissary to join their covenant. Before reaching Renown 80 this process requires two weekly quests to return to a covenant you have been part of before.
What Happens when you Swap Covenants?
First Time in the Covenant
Many of the Shadowlands side-systems are bound to your Covenant. When you first join a covenant, you will face:
Back to Renown 1
Back to Chapter 1 of the 9.0 Covenant campaign
Covenant buildings reset
Only the first Soulbind unlocked
All your deposited
Animum del Bacino
stays with your Covenant
You will have no Mission Table followers
In order to mitigate many of these downsides, Blizzard is adding many tools to make catching back up with a covenant faster in 9.1.5:
Marchio Distintivo degli Alienatori
can be purchased after you reach Renown 80 with one covenant and allows you to be instantly at Renown 40
Campaign Chapters 1 and 2 already have skips and Patch 9.1.5 adds skips to the remaining chapters, as long as you have completed them before on that covenant with any character. This way it will be trivial to unlock the other two Soulbinds and your basic Mission Followers for a Covenant
Quests to obtain
Anima Redenta
will be repeatable, so you can catch up on Covenant buildings as fast as you can grind Reservoir Anima
Anima is plentiful in Shadowlands since 9.1, so catching up on buildings is faster than in Patch 9.0
Returning to a Covenant
Once you return to a Covenant, your Renown, Buildings, Anima, Campaign progress, and Mission Followers, are all restored to the state that they were in the moment you left that Covenant.
Note that, when you leave a Covenant, all your active missions are cancelled, so you can't hop between all four Covenants and send missions with all four tables.
