How the Chronoboon Displacer Preserves World Buffs on the Classic Era PTR

Blizzard is introducing a major change
to the upcoming Classic Era servers, which allows players to avoid the dreaded problem of "raid logging" and actually play their characters after getting world buffs. While this system is a unique solution to the problem, Blizzard is going an entirely different direction for Burning Crusade Classic,
where all world buffs will get wiped off when you zone into a raid
. Let's take a look at the new item Blizzard is adding to Classic, the Chronoboon Displacer!
How to Obtain the Chronoboon Displacer
The Chronoboon Displacer can be purchased from
Chromie
in Western Plaguelands once her quest chain is completed. Chromie can be found in the North West building inside the Ruins of Andorhol, on the top floor of the inn like structure. The item costs 10 gold and can be stacked up to 5, is not unique, and Blizzard specifically mentions "she’ll be happy to sell you as many Chronoboon Displacers as your heart desires."
How the Chronoboon Displacer Works
The Chronoboon Displacer has a 6 second cast time and when used, will create a new item, the "Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer" which temporarily stores your world buffs. While your world buffs are stored in the Supercharged version, you will gain a new buff, which displays all your stored world buffs and their remaining duration. While under the effects of Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer, you can not obtain new world buffs of the same variety of those stored in the item. As of right now, there are a few bugs on the PTR, but Blizzard had this to say in the Blue Post, "While you are under the effects of the Chronoboon Displacer, you can’t benefit from any of the world buffs that it’s holding for you."
To release your world buffs from the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer, you just right click the item in your inventory, wait for the 6 second cast time, and
poof
, you are fully world buffed for raid! Once the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer is used, it is destroyed from your bags. The item is also Unique and Bind on Pickup, meaning it isn't tradable and you can only have one Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer at a time. Whenever the Chronoboon Displacer or the Supercharged Chronoboon Displacer is used, they are put on a one hour cooldown. The cooldown does tick down while offline, so players can just log out to get around it.
Players are already theorycrafting their new world buff train, planning the most efficient way to use Chronoboon Displacers for each raid week. Some ideas range from having perfect uptime on all world buffs, picking a Songflower first, without any stress, or just getting fully buffed before storing everything. How this item will alter the entire game for players has yet to be seen, but players can test the new item out right now on the Public Test Realm.
When does it hit Live Servers
Blizzard did say, "It will come out before Burning Crusade Classic is released" but that just means it likely comes with the Pre-Patch.
During Blizzconline in a Developer Q&A
, Blizzard explained how players will be able to choose to permanently move to a "Classic Era" server or move through the Dark Portal in the Pre-Patch for Burning Crusade Classic (or purchase to clone your character and have both). Most players are assuming Patch 1.13.7, this new item,
as well as 10 ms batching
, will likely come out when the Pre-Patch hits servers.
Once the Pre-Patch event begins, when players log in, they are faced with the choice of either cloning their character, moving to Classic Era, or staying on their server for Burning Crusade Classic. The Chronoboon Displacer will only exist on the Classic Era servers and not on the Burning Crusade Classic server,
as Blizzard decided to move away from World buffs entirely for Burning Crusade

Can you make an option where we can do the raid without world buffs???
That’s the direction we intend to go in Burning Crusade Classic. In Burning Crusade Classic we intend to have world buffs removed at the start of raid encounters.
I realize that’s not exactly what you’re asking for, but I did want to clarify that our intent is to preserve the World Buffs in Classic Era, while moving away from World Buffs in Burning Crusade Classic.
