Ion Hazzikostas on Burning Crusade Classic and 9.1 Chains of Domination Release

LingHunFuSu (aka Neo)
, a Douyo streamer and Community figure recently interviewed Game Director Ion Hazzikostas. One question touched on a subject related to Burning Crusade Classic Beta and Shadowlands 9.1 Public Test Realm doing testing simultaneously, and what the release of these two content patches would look like.
Interview with LingHunFuSu
Many players noticed that recently the release of 9.1 Chains of Domination to PTR is almost simultaneously as the TBC Beta launched, is this done on purpose? If it’s on purpose, would Blizzard consider releasing new World of Warcraft content one at a time to avoid possible time conflict for players
Well obviously we will have more information to announce about specific release dates for Burning Crusade Classic and for Chains of Domination. I can tell you that it's very unlikely that we're going to release both of those right at the same time, we know there are many players who would like to experience both. They're very different projects in terms of their testing needs, and we need to begin the PTR or the Beta at the appropriate time to give the teams working on those games all the time and all the feedback they need to ensure a good outcome. So, while we want to avoid too much collision between the two, we also understand that there are many players who only play Classic, and there are many players who only play Shadowlands, and we don't want to punish one group in order to avoid a conflict for the other, while still trying to make sure that each game has some time and space to breathe on its own.
Back in October of 2020,
Blizzard announced they would be delaying Shadowlands
. Classic was already rolling through its content phases, and it just so happened the Shadowlands delay ended up releasing around the same time as Naxxramas Phase 6 in Classic World of Warcraft. This inevitably leads to the next cycle of content for both Classic and Shadowlands being on roughly the same schedule. If Blizzard wants to break away from this and go back to a tick-tock content release schedule, either Classic or Shadowlands will have to have a slightly longer drought of content. At this point, Shadowlands is in desperate need for something fresh, as this is currently the longest period between an expansion launching and a new content patch.
Could the May 18th "BURNING_CRUSADE_TRANSITION_DEFAULT_CLONE_DATE" be the actual release of Pre-Patch?
Would Blizzard think about extending the Pre-Patch phase for Classic, as this is an entirely new and experimental period that never existed before? In the original Pre-Patch for Burning Crusade, players were not able to make Draenei and Blood Elves, meaning players couldn't raid with Alliance Shaman and Horde Paladins until quite some time after the Dark Portal opened. This time however, for Classic, Blizzard is going to allow players to raid level 60 content with the opposite faction's unique class, creating an entirely new raid environment that has players excited.
