I had a tough time with this one, mainly because I elected to cross the road to glory instead of going east out of Honor Hold and around that way. There are a bunch of lvl 63 shattered hand captains, and their minions which are lvl 62 hanging around on the road. I did manage to battle my way through, but it was TOUGH. Now once you're up the hill on the other side, carefull pulling. There are lvl 61 hellboars and one 61 elite orc running around near the catapults. So map out your killing field bearing this in mind. Once you get a clear space anywhere near the catapults, use the torch and back away. The flame effect is pretty cool. On my way back, rather than battle accross the road yet again, I took the long way around :)

It's four bigger catapults on the north side of the road of glory.
You dont have to be right under them to burn them up, you can just use the torch from a good place near them.

I took the easy route and went around to the East. I did see the LV 61 Elite Orc, but was able to avoid him.Torching the "Horde Blade Throwers" was actually very easy. I did this Quest using a LV 60 Paladin.

lol yeah, I totally didn't plan my route well and died first crossing the path of glory, then dying after a horde guard wouldn't stop bashin me

This qst is easy when u get to the catapult's you dont need to kill all the orcs all u need to do is get as far away as the flare will let you and no need for killing..simple :P

The 61 Elite, Tagar Spinebreaker, paths all the way around to the ridge southeast of Hellfire Citadel (around 49, 58), so you can wait for him to move out of the area and it will be quite a while before he comes back. You might want to watch out for the Fel Reaver that patrols the road to Thrallmar. I did this with my 59 hunter. Very rewarding quest for how simple it is.

This quest is actually a lot easier than it seems like it should be.

First off, your burning torch has quite a surprising range. I spent five minutes clearing enough space that I could walk up to the first disc thrower to burn it. On the second one, I decided to see if I could burn it from long range - and yeah, you can. I ended up doing the second and third ones without aggroing a single monster.

Second, your burning torch has a reasonably quick casting time. I did aggro a monster on the third one, but in the time it took him to run up to me I'd finished the cast anyway, and I just turned around and left.

I fully expect this quest is generally possible without killing a single creature. Which is doubly good for those of us on Horde-dominated PvP servers, since it's basically right outside the gates of Thrallmar and you don't want to hang around there any longer than necessary :)

Wow I feel like a nooblet. I was soo confused starting this quest; I was looking for towers..then Orcs.

All I did was stand a little bit infront of the catapult lookin' things on the "other" side of the road. Solo'd as a 59 mage and didn't do much fighting. Only died once because I got ganked by two horde. The coordiantes are correct.

I can confirm the co-ords, they are good. The machines are basically all in a row on the "other" side of the "Path of Glory" if you are coming from Honor Hold.

As mentioned below, unless you are like 68-70 don't bother trying to come from the road = suicide. Go round the back and approach them from behind. You do not need to go right up to the for the torch to work. You have to sneak up to the part of the back of the machine that has no mob near you, and appoach little by little until the torch gives you a progress meter. When that happens, wait for it to complete, you seem to launch a little fireball at the catapult and your done, on to the next. Sometimes there are mobs in your way, just pull them from the machine, dispose and approach until torch works, then run.

No brilliant reward, but ok!

I lost the flaming torch, does anyone know how to get it back? Yes, I've tried abandoning & reaccepting the quest, but I still do not have the torch.

Am I out of luck?

I'm Alliance but a lvl 65 Horde hunter helped me with this by killing the guys closest to where I was by the throwers, so it was very easy to torch! With the exception of rogues, who can never be trusted, I try to be nice to Horde, and it's great when the return the favor :)

The blade throwers are on the other side of glory foad from honor hold.
They are the towers with the buzz saw looking thing.
If your smart enough you'll only have to fight the 2 orcs underneath the catapult area.

EASY:
The quest is real easy. All the towers are next to eachother and you don't have to kill all the mobs around them. You can throw the torch to the towers, so you don't have to be right next to it. Kill a mob or two around each one, flame it, and move on.

To complete this quest you need to use the Flaming Torch to burn all the Horde Blade Throwers.

Horde Blade Throwers located north of Thrallmar, you can see it from afar, there are five of them, but the one is already broken.
Carefully cross the road (beware of multiple 63lvl blood orcs) and use Flaming Torch while you are close to a thrower to burn it down.

If Dumphry doesn't give you the torch, check and make sure it's not in your bags somewhere, especially your bank bags.

Easy quest, suggest running around the "ditch" at the East end, its longer, but easier. As a hunter, I just rode across the middle between the pairs of throwers, was hit by about a dozen NPCs, got to the other side, half dead, played dead, got the mobs down to three, hit Exhilaration, ran up the hill, healed my pets. Had to continue running off to get to kite a mage (#3), then took it out.

This lists four possible rewards, my (female) hunter was offered only two of them, the helm and breastplate, needed the trousers to round out the collection.

Now that we've gotten our salvage operation off the ground, it's time to begin the second phase of the plan.

Across the Path of Glory, the Horde still has their old blade throwers trained on us. Don't let their age fool you, <name>, they're still very dangerous. Much as we're working to reclaim what we can, we can't assume the Horde is going to dismantle their weaponry.

Take this torch and burn the remaining siege equipment. I'll take no chances with Honor Hold's safety.
