Use the Jump-a-tron 4000 next to Wazat to launch yourself into the air and land in the nest with the mysterious egg. Using the Jump-a-tron gives you a 3 minute duration slow fall debuff, and the only practical way to land in the nest is to click it off once you're at the proper trajectory floating above it.

Once you interact with and take the egg, the matriarch will swoop down and is non-aggressive, ready to be killed. I completed this quest with another warrior, and it was moderately difficult, though using taunt and bandaging properly made it reasonable to do.

You also want to make sure that you receive the message 'Mysterious Egg cracks open, filling the nest with yolk' before jumping out of the tree. While I received quest credit for attempting to steal the egg, the Matriarch did not spawn. I ended up having to jump back up and re-loot the egg two more times before she finally appeared.

I got this done by getting the Jumpatron blowfall buff and jumping off the hill above the nest on an epic mount with spurs on my boots. It dropped me right on the nest.

You also can use another tip (I don't know if you're intended to do it this way) : face the egg and position yourself on the very back of the little jumpin'-structure, as soon as you are above the eggs, just cancel your slow fall buff.

This quest has wasted 4 gold and 40 minutes of my time. The tips in this thread *help*. I've gotten close to landing on the nest by clicking off the buff at the right angle. I've gotten close to landing on the nest by getting the buff and jumping off the hill. But my "Super Mario Bros" skills are lacking, and this quest is sadly out of my reach as a result. If your no good at arcade games, this quest will have you pulling your hair out and if you dont take off your gear, it'll punch you right in the wallet.

Just a note.. if you form a group for the quest, only one of you needs to get into the nest. I was able to get in and my partner stood on the ground under the nest. We both got credit for opening the egg.

One can obtain the buff, mount up on epic mount, ride up onto the adjacent hill and jump slow falling onto the nest. Got it on about my 10th try--no durability loss.

Here's another possibility.

Step 1. a. Have a paladin or Priest jump onto the nest.
Step 1. b. Die.
Step 1. c. Have Paladin or priest ressurect you, heal you.
Step 1. d. Steal egg.
Step 1. e. Pwn Bird.

This is how we had to do it for the warrior in our group who didn't have an elite mount and just couldn't make it onto the nest.

The trick to the jump thing is to stand in the dead center. I'm not sure about facing, but I don't think it matters.

People on my server had a hard time getting into the nest so here's a good trick:

Get the slow-fall buff from the trampoline. Then mount up (epic mount only) and go up on the ridge a few yards south-east of the tree. If you time your jump good you should be able to float into the nest. It is doable without any speed spell on your mount, but it's piece of cake with stuff like "Carrot on a stick" or the "Animal handler" talent of the hunter.

Stand DIRECTLY in the middle of the launcher, puts you straight over the nest easily. As an afflic lock I solo'ed the matriarch, chain fear and dots, really simple. Couldn't make it off the hill on my epic mount, but standing directly in the middle worked on first try.

This can be easily soloed by a balance druid (or theoretically any druid, if they had patience and enough mana regen) by hibernating her and starfiring her over and over again.

On another note though, I just did this quest in a group and got the talon, but am somehow unable to turn it in. Has anyone else encountered this?

if your a mage with at least 21 points into frost, then this quest just got a whole lot easier...

if you don't have the mount speed increase to your boots or gloves, try doing it this way ::

1> Use the key on top of the trampoline and boot yourself in the air.
2> Try to manuever yourself directly above the nest with the eggs and
3> Once directly above the nest hit ice block
4> dispell the buff that comes with the trampoline jump and wait for iceblock to wear off, positioning yourself accordingly.
5> hit slowfall if you have regeants, if not, prepare to pay a hefty repair bill.

imo, there is a reason the graveyard is so close to the quest spot.

Take all your gear off before you try this first, secondly if you are blown off track do not click off the buff so you will not die and thirdly, the couple times I did miss the nest by barely I only suffered a max of 4k damage. If you look down while doing it when you click off the buff you will fall strait down and its all about being patient.

This quest took me about 15-20 minutes but it was fun because it wasn't the usual go kill x monsters and then collect y items. The bird has 60000 hp.

If you're a mage you can do this by blinking in mid-air when you are directly above the nest. You should be high enough that you dont blink to the ground but instead you stop all forward/backward motion and float slowly to the nest :)

As for the patriach you definitely need a group.

Some tricks as a mage: blink brings you right down to the ground if you're airborn from jumping, so that speeds up attempts.

Also, iceblocking freezes you in place up in the air, letting you cancel the buff and drop at leasure. It can also be used to save you from a fall, if you activate it just before you hit the ground, the fall is calculated from where you iceblocked. Blink also works for reducing fall damage (blink just before you hit).

Finally, if you're in a group on this quest, only 1 person has to touch the egg, the rest of the group will get full credit.

Jumping into the nest is easy-as-pie for frost mages. Just use Ice Block when you're above it, then let go. ;) Make sure your camera angle is right above you and looking down.

Jumping is not that bad, once you learn the angle. However, being paladin helped when I missed, bubble!

The bird is tough as nails, soloed her but it took every trick in the "bag of tricks" I had...

Easiest way to do this quest is bring a 70 that can rez with you. Take off gear (if you need to, warlocks can hellfire down), die, and have your friend rez you up in the nest. Matriarch is fearable, so gg. Easy and fun (if not somewhat tedious) quest.

Once you in the nest take the eggg. Now wait for egg again to reappear and break it. This will summon the level 66 elite "bird mother" The bird is fearable so i was able to solo this at lvl 65 as Warlock. Good luck

I tried this quest many times and finally got the hang of it. Like others have said, stand dead center of the trampoline; make sure that when your on it you're looking straight from the top view down so that you know when to right click on the slow fall buff (when you're over the nest release the buff); if your a lock soulstone yourself in case you die when you land in the nest. Res and click on the egg. When the elite bird appears, send the void out to attack; drain life and pds. When void gets close to the end of his life, sacrifice him and continue dps and fear the bird until he dies. Insure you have a healthstone and some cloth bandages to hold you over. I did it at level 67 on my destrution lock.

The trick is to turn the camera so it's pointing straight down. Then just remove the buff right before you're vertical with the nest.

OMG.. yeah finally got it. took a few dozen times but I got it done.. it is very tricky doing it from the trampoline. I wish that I could give insight to it, but it was really just dumb luck.

Solo'd at 64 (afflic/demonology hybrid lock). Getting into the tree was easy with my Dreadsteed, just get the buff from the Jump-a-tron and run from the hill and cancel the buff just as you hover over the nest. The bird was easily solo'd with DoT's, my 2 +dmg trinkets and chainfear. I used one healthstone and one super mana potion, as well as a soulstone at the end (somehow I died just after the bird died, but I res'd with my SS and looted the talon). This quest really isn't THAT hard. If you are having trouble getting onto the nest just using the Jump-a-tron, and have an epic mount, try running and jumping from the adjacent hill.

Done with a 65 Frost Mage and 65 Healing Priest. I just tanked as a mage with Ice Barrier while the priest healed me. I almost died at the end but the priest was half mana and full of hit points.
As said before, he's not imune to spells like frost nova.

Last thing : you must have an emote to make the bird spawns. Otherwise, he won't. Be sure you see it before you jump off the tree.

I had a lot of trouble kiting her as a level 66 hunter, to be honest. She moves much faster than cheetah and even with trying to add frost/freezing traps when concussive was cooling down, I didn't have much success.

However, I switched over to having my pet wail on her while I healed him (I am BM spec, so that probably helped). My pet was an owl, which have low natural armor so it should be easier for a more well-rounded/tanking style pet. When my mana ran low, I frost trapped her and feign-drunk some water. It took a while and my pet died a few times, but it worked more efficiently than kiting for me, at least.

I found it easiest to center yourself on the tramp but face opposite of the nest, as soon as you're airborne take off the free fall buff and you will most likely land on the nest. Probably not as good as the mount trick but for those w/o an epic mount this works best.

Well if you are having trouble getting on the nest and are clicking off the slow fall debuff and find yourself missing a lot.. try taking off your gear, it makes it go quicker if you need to bandage / eat to get back to full hp and try it again. Used up my remaining regular netherweave bandages this way lol

I've tried many times but couldn't land there. I dont have an riding equipment so i couldn't get there by jumping from hill. Then i've found a lvl70 pala. Got naked and used the trampoline and cancel the buff at peak point. Then pala resurrected me at there.

For a Warrior the best choice is the Nomad's Woven Cloak.

The only obvious difference between the two for a Warrior is 1 Hit Rating or 2 Stamina. However, Strength is affected by Blessing of Kings while AP is not. Thus, for a Warrior (who gets 2AP per Strength) the Nomad's Woven Cloak is preferrable.

Soloed as a Lvl 64 Tauren Feral Druid.

Second try on the trampoline and I reached the eggs.

Simply stood on the front edge of it and clicked, quickly removed the slowing buff and shapeshifted into cat form just in case.

Started with Regrowth, Rejuvenation and Lifebloom - Dire Bear Form.
Attacked till I had like 50% hp, then stun, hibernate and healed up. Repeated this a couple of times until my mana was gone and innervate was used. At that time I just hibernated and waited for around 1k mana then rejuvenation and lifebloom and kept doing the same thing. War stomp is a plus too :)

Soloed this as a level 66 Demo Warlock.

I jumped into the tree from the cliff in front of it with the slow-fall buff. After that I cracked the egg and waited for the bird to spawn.

As for the fight, I slapped all my dots on it and kited it with fear until it died. Was pretty simple for a Warlock, besides the fact that the thing hits like a tank.

Note for people who die alot from the falling damage, there is a rock just a little bit to the south, if you run on mount and jump youl float in the nest ( after 3 tryes it worked for me)

Easily soloed as a level 65 moonkin druid, just used entangling roots then insect swarm then moonfire, and waited to regen and renewed them whenever they ran out, the bird seems to break out of entangle quite easily when you hit it, all my starfire and wrath attempts have knocked it out of tangle, but only half of my moonfires, in my kiting i got hit a bit, bird hits quite hard and i had to heal up too. altogether not very hard for a 66 elite in nagrand :P the others are way harder

Getting into the nest was extremely simple for me.. got it on the first try. I used the exact center of the trampoline, looking straight down, and then debuffed just BEFORE I was over he nest.. I floated a little, used my Paladin Divine Protection to keep my health, and landed directly on the eggs.

Got the slow fall buff and lept off the hill on my dreadsteed with my trust .

Easy solo as a 35/0/21 level 65 warlock. Just fear and DoT it. Takes a while. Recommend using Curse of Doom, as it has better DPS than Agony, just make sure when it ticks that you're ready to reapply fear, because it will break fear.

Incredible. I don't quite know why everyone else breezed through this, but I spent well over half of an hour simply trying to get to the eggs. The gankers make this no easier. Remember to heal when you resurrect, or you'll die upon finally landing in the nest. You'll definitely need a friend to fight the 66 Elite that spawns, unless you're good at that sort of thing.

Soloed as a 65 affliction warlock. just kept up the good ol' fear-and-dots routine with drain life when I needed it and shadowbolt/incinerate when I was in range, and she dropped. Took a good 2-3 minutes, but she dropped.

It's VERY easy to survive to survive the jump-a-tron. You don't need to be mounted or use any special tricks!

Stand on the edge of the Jump-a-tron, closest to the nest. Right when that buff is applied to you, and I mean right away, turn it off. You'll land on the nest and survive the fall.

I think it works this way because you don't get tossed up as high without that buff on.

Solod as lvl 65 feral druid.

Started with Cat, puched, a couple of mangles then Bear form. Basically just dpsing down, then when low health use Roots, heal up, get regrowth on urself then go in again, rince and repeat. When you get oom, use innervate. I had to use two mana pots, took about 6-7 mins.

Very easily soloed as a 70 Hunter. She hits hard, but as long as you pay attention to your pet's health you'll be fine. She's even freezable so if you can't heal your pet fast enough or you pull aggro, freeze her, heal your pet and bandage yourself!

after getting upon the nest, i cracked the egg and waited for the bird to spawn. went into Cat form, Rake, Mangle, Mangle, Rake, or anything you like to get to 5 combo points, Maim... while bird was stunned backed off to max range, Cast barkskin then Entangling roots on bird... healed up.... rinse and repeate... bring lots of mana pots or have a deep pool... had to use 5 or 6 Super mana Pots, innervate 2 times... Just a very long fight in general.

Solo'd as a 67 feral druid. Managed to get up on the tree fine the first time, no fall damage from cat form. Got the egg, waited for the cracked egg message to show up, dropped down. When I saw the bird spawn I casted regrowrth, rejuv, lb, bear form. Would bash, hibernate or root when i needed to heal. I'd recommend just starting this fight in bear, she hits pretty hard and it's not short. Did this quest on my lock also, easy solo there too.

After reading the tips on how to get on the nest (Carrot on a Stick made it so much easier than without it), I decided to try and solo her, (64 Warlock, Demonology). All I did was a keep a fear on her the whole time and DoT her up. She wasn't resistant to shadow and went down with ease. No need to duo this as a warlock if you can fear and DoT :P.

Just soloed as a 64 Demon lock. Very easy once I found out you could fear it. Lost my guard, but after the first fear went off the bird could not touch me and I just dotted it to death. I don't remember being able to CC it before the 2.4 patch though.

I would just like to mention that an Affliction Lock can solo this. Make sure to have your imp out so you can use Dark Pact to get mana from it and have a Healthstone ready so you can use it should you need to Life Tap.

Curious choice between the two DPS cloaks.

Does anybody have any advice about which cloak to pick as a fury warrior? The stats are very similar: the edge in hit rating on the delicate green poncho might not make up for the improved stamina and potential for pally Strength buff that the nomad's woven cloak boasts.

Ok, now I found the best way to do this one. Get the floating buff, ride your epic mount to the top of the hill (if you have any speed trinkets use them). Now line up with the nest, run and jump "Over" the nest. When you are Over the nest right click on the floating spell canceling it to drop right on the nest. I tried the other ways and did not have any luck.

Just solo'd this on a level 64 afflicton warlock. I used the line your head up with the tree and keep the camera above you method to get into the tree, and it worked the first try. I had to open the eggs twice to get the mob to spawn though. After that, it was simply a matter of keeping dots and fear up. She hits like a truck though, so be careful :P

I found it very easy as a 65 feral druid. Follow Xenotropic guide on getting up on the nest.

As for taking on the big 66 elite bird here is how i did it.

Start off attacking in bear form. Once you get to about 20-30% health bash it then entangle root it. Hot yourself up get yourself back up to full and do that again. Just keep doing this process and you should win sooner or later.

Couple problems i ran into. I went OOM even after i poped innervate so what i did was i just kept entangling root on it and just did 1 lifebloom at a time tell i was toped then waited tell i had enough mana to go back into bear. So if you have a mana pot i strongly suggest you bring it with you.

To land on the platform position yourself in the center of the "Jump-a-tron" and activate it while your looking into the ground. When you find yourself right over the platform, cancel the jump-a-tron buff and fall down. Note that if you don't hit the platform and fall to the ground you might want to bandage up before trying again ;).

Removing the debuff instantly helps with landing on the nest. Just make sure you face in the right direction. I'm a 66 Feral Druid, so I hopped into cat form to avoid unnecessary fall damage.

As for the bird itself, it's a &*!@#, but I managed to solo it fairly easily.

I managed to survive very long in bear, but she still hits for over 400 and can crit for 900 (and that's with tons of armor in dire bear). Eventually I shifted out, Hibernated her, healed up to full and finished her off. Didn't have to use innervate, barksin or a pot.

I'd advise against trying to solo this thing if you don't have heals or some crowd control (any sort of stun that lasts long enough to heal will do). I'd imagine shamans can kite her with Frost Shock and earthbind to get a heal off. I saw a 70 Rogue trying to solo her but she just hit way too hard. You could do it with two or three people (and if you're a rogue or warrior there's not much else you can do, really), but where's the fun in that? :D

The cloak was a welcome addition to my gear. Happy Hunting!

Solo'd as a level 70 Marksman hunter (17/41/3). I flew up to the next and took the egg, but I was able to use my epic mount and riding crop to jump off the hill. Tried a few times just to test without the crop, and I barely missed every time.

The bird itself was a little nasty. I kept mend pet up, but it still managed to kill my cat. I froze, ress'ed the cat, bandaged it up, and sent it back in with mend pet again, and the cat died at the same time as the bird.

Ok, After reading this and doing it myself, this is the best way to do it. No need to post further...
Get the key by doing the initial quest.
Then use it to get the float buff. The buff makes u float with no dmg taken when u land.
Get on ur mount and get to the top of the hill.
Using the buff, jump to the top of the tree. Yes i have speed enchants but no need, i took off my carrot and still landed in the tree. took only a few tries to get it right.
When u know about where to land. then try again, but this time right click the buff and remove it right as ur over the nest. If not, u will land and keep runnin on ur mount.
After u get to the Nest. Click on ur egg, then jump down. the Matriarch lvl 66 Elite Bird will appear, and eventually turn red as a target and u can attack her. Make sure u are well buffed and have a pet if ur a lock. u can fear her so if ur solo then make sure u use it. The Rewards are So Worth the effort.
She also dropped trash gear worth another 2g for me. so my cloth repair was taken care of. Also, if someone else is in the nest and clicked the egg u have to wait for the Egg to respawn.

I just waited till I had my flying mount. I flew up there did the egg thing, jumped down and had a friend help me kill it. Worked better than massive armor repair trying to get up there w/o mount. :)

After trying the mount and jumping method (that didnt work) I finally did it by looking down and removing the buff when over the nest (second try). Solo'd the bird quite easily - 66 aff lock. Hello swanky new cloak! :D

1) position yourself dead center.

2) look straight at the nest.

3) use birds eye view, and move your mouse over the next buff spot on your screen.

4) 2 seconds into the air, click off, and see yourself fall straight down.

Had to do it twice, since the first time the bird didn't come. But it was easy.

The only tip i can say is..get a full group or join someone who is actually on the platform at that time..its just pure luck...if you are close when the person on the platform goes to get the egg you will get that part of the quest(so only one person in your group ACTUALLY needs to get on the platform)... you can then spank the big birdie who flies down

If you have a slow comp/lag issues this quest isnt really worth the effort...the buff icon doesnt appear quick enough and yep, your already way off the mark.

I lucked out, didn't have to do the jumpy thing because a 70 druid who didn't do the quest flew up and looted the egg. Since it was a group quest I got credit for it. The bird comes after a while and hits hard.

Engineers with the parachute cloak can save themselves some pain. If you click the buff off but you're not going to be on target, activate the cloak at the last moment. Still fiddly, but not actually painful.

Kited to Telaar, guards did 70% of the killing. This bad boy moves fast but is fearable.

Complete waste of time, and apparently bugged as well.

None of the suggestions here worked for me. After jumping many times and missing, I finally managed to hit the nest by doing this:

Get on the jump-a-tron and jump. Turn the camera to look DOWN (not up as someone else suggested - that just doesn't make sense). The jump-a-tron gives you a 3 minute buff. When you're directly over the nest, debuff (right click the buff icon). You will fall straight down onto the nest. In my case, this caused a lot of damage, so I ate and drank before opening the egg.

I opened the egg without any trouble. It was a full minute before the matriarch showed up after that, and I couldn't engage her. All of my attacks were answered with "evade". I jumped off the nest and as soon as I hit the ground she was attacking me and I suffered immediate and dramatic loss of health. I think that the game was actually recording hits while displaying "evade" in the tree and they all hit me when I dropped to the ground. There's no way that this mob could have done that much damage so quickly on her own.

So now I have 1/2 the quest - the egg - but I haven't killed the matriarch. There doesn't seem to be any way to get the matriarch to come again other than to keep trying the jump, and that's just a waste of time at this point.

*sigh* If you have absolutely nothing better to do, go ahead and play with this quest. But for my money, the reward isn't worth it and it takes waaaaaay too much time for a bugged quest.

The Jump-O-Tron not the quest. He even warns you that it still has issues. I did not make it work but I am sure it will. Don't stand in the middle of the trampoline and don't face the nest. I'm sure it will work because by standing at the back of the trampoline and facing with my back to the nest I landed behind the trampoline. Experimenting with position and facing will get you to the nest. My experiments were cut short when a Blood Elf paladin rode up and did the debuff/ drop in the nest thing. She then jumped out the nest and sat down to heal/mana up. When the bird came I unloaded on it first and claimed the kill. I had already been in the nest for the egg by riding off the cliff but I don't have the Carat anymore so it was a real pain to make it. Bird killed me the first time out as a lvl 66 Frost mage. Came back as a lvl 68 Frost mage and killed him with two WEs. I used one pot when I didn't FN him fast enough with the WE and he came for me. Fun quest. Nice reward and XP. Stealing the bird from a Horde made it even better.

This can be a very irritating quest. As a pally with crusader aura I easily got into the quest with my mount, but the bird was a problem! Do yourself a favor and unless you've got a way to take agro off yourself (pet, fear, whatever) get some help with this one...

This quest doesn't require epic flying mount or any other mount. You need to get a little more resourceful at lower levels...

I did it EASY as a lvl 66.

While flying around Nagrand today looking for herb nodes/mana remnants, I spotted this goblin with a ? above his head. I don't know how I missed this quest in the grind, but anyways....

After bouncing around on that damn trampoline for about 15-20 minutes, over shooting the nest considerably in every possible direction, I finally remembered I have a spanky epic flyer and take the easy way.

The eggs in it had the gear icon, so I cracked them open, but nothing happened for about 20 seconds, until the windrock matriarch flew into view. She didn't agro me at all, so I Lored her and discovered she had screech 5 (my Owl only had 4).
After stabling my owl, I flew back and cracked the eggs, and then tried taming her. She cant be tamed while up in the nest, so I repeated the procedure down on the ground.
After a successful taming, I flew back up, cracked the eggs again, jumped down, and sent in my freshly tamed owl to attack the matriarch.
She prompty beat the crap out of it, and myself as well. I had been expecting an easy fight, the bird being only a 66 elite. I stabled the new owl, brought out "Spot" again, and tried again. Better succuss, although she still beat up my battle hardened owl pretty good, finally killing it. I had to kite it around a bit to finish it off, grab the talon and turn in the quest.
The cloak would have been nice a few levels ago, but was vendored for the 2 or whatever gold it was.
Long story short, a hard fight, unless your a 'lock apparently.

A bit down someone wrote the following strategy for the jump:

stand on trampoline, turn your char so it faces the nest, put camera so your viewing straight above... you'll know it will go wrong before you hit the ground anyway, click the trampoline, move your cursor to the place the buff will appear while the trampoline is casting. remove the buff immediately.

this worked brilliant on first try.

heal/eat, buff yourself well, mana up. pick the egg.

I jumped off the nest to fight him.

I solo'd her @66 druid.
Kept her off bay with root, and just pump away with starfire (best dmg to mana ratio in my build, durability)

reroot when needed move away heal, start starfire sequence.

I made it but barely.. I went completely oom including innervate, no mana pots (i walked by and thought i'd try and die for fun).

i starfired her somewhat in between too. just once let it bleed out and add again.

I had to drag out the fight root and just sit and wait a few times at the end for some mana to starfire and reroot. long fight and didn't think i'd make it. so i rate it as possibly solo'able at level 66.

Someone else hoped into that egg, and summoned Matriarch. She killed him, but i attacked her, and managed to kill (lvl 64 affliction lock). I looted her body and get the Talon, but i cannot give it to goblin :/

No matter what people say, the trampoline is still very picky unless you know what you're doing. You'll most likely die quite a few times trying to figure out a way that works the best for you.

As for the Winroc Matriarch, I was able to solo her as a 65 affliction warlock. dotted her up, feared, repeated until dead. Had to use a super health pot and my healthstone, but she died. Also bandaged myself 2 or 3 times, and my pet twice. She was hitting me for 800-1000 or so. Definitely not recommended for the non-CC classes.

Just solo'ed this as a 65 Frost Mage. It wasn't terribly difficult actually.. So after trying the whole mount thing which didn't work for me I did the debuff trampoline thing blah blah blah.. which worked perfectly I might add.

I opened up with a FN and with my Water Elemental and Vengeance of the Illidari I just nuked it, when it's FN broke I made my WE use it, and we continued. Once my Water Elemental died I used Cold Snap and summoned another, between his FN and mine, he never touched either of us. I used a mana ruby as caution at 50% mana but I don't think I needed it.

Just duo'ed this as a Demonology specced Warlock with an Arcane/Fire Mage friend of mine, both at level 64.

Landing on the egg was probably the hardest part. I got lucky and landed on it after I clicked the buff off first try. Only advice I can give is to face the nest and try to get into the middle of the trampoline before activating it.

When the Matriarch came down, which I believe you have to stay on the nest for a while, I had my Felguard go in and build aggro for a few seconds, healing him with Health Funnel. That is all I did during the fight, other than put up a Curse of Shadows. My Mage friend was then just arcane-missiling her down, and she was dead within about a minute.

Not the fastest way, I would guess, but easier than finding a full group.

After practicing a few times with the direction of the jump. Jump and cancel buff while over the nest. After landing on nest, heal if needed and click on egg. You can get off nest but stand by the nest. The bird will come down after a few seconds. As a Warlock I Dot/fear. Rinse repeat.

First. Get naked. Just in case. I died every time I missed and there's no reason to pay a ton of repair costs.
Stand *on* the Jump-o-Tron and face the nest. Make sure you are at full health as you will lose about 80% even hitting the nest.
Click the Jump-o-tron and immediatly remove the buff as soon as it shows. Start right clicking before the launch. You should land right in the nest. Put your gear back on, heal up, click the egg, and fight.

I simply waited until I was 68 to do this quest (druid) flew up to the nest, clicked the egg, then killed the matriarch. The whole ordeal was about 2 minutes in length and was completed the first try without using the item the goblin hands you.

Contrary to all the whingers on here I thought this quest was well thought out and fun. Admittedly it would have taken me a loooong time to figure out if I hadn't read some of the posts here, but at least they put some thought into this one and wasn't the same lame kill a thousand cows kind of thing.

I tried the jump then debuff thing and died first time. Then I remembered I was on my druid, so cat-formed mid'flight and landed with half health. THen I gave up on that method and used the old jump, get the buff, land with buff, mount up, ride to top of hill and riding jump onto tree method. After a few near misses I managed to get there with help from my carrot lol (you can do it without carrot, I just couldn't get the right approach).

Got the egg, and after that me and the pally I was grouped with had the long fight with big bird. As 67 druid I don't think I could've killed the bird solo, he had too much health and me not enough mana. Respect if somebody else manages too though.

If you're playing this game only for the destination, you're not going to have much fun along the way. Enjoy!

Thank god it's fearable.. I did it once and got it to about 20% but it ran out of my range and I had to redo it... by the time I did it as 67 warlock I got extra xp from rested bonus (!) long fight.

Ikiss didn't take that long, not even half that long.

Once we figured out the de-buff solution, the first time around I landed right on the nest. I's suggest everyone use this. Just line up, click the tramp, and about a 2 seconds later debuff yourself. Make sure your at full health, because I lost about 4500 health in the drop.

TO those saying it's retarded - get a sense of humor. I was laughing my ass off at the site of seeing my big mean epic'd out warlock friend being launched up into the air and slowly floating down. A big ugly orc floating around like a butterfly - priceless.

By far the easiest way to get the egg is by first using the jumper to get the slow fall buff, then use an epic mount with a small speed bonus (carrot on a stick worked for me), and jump from the hill behind the nest. I tried a few times without the carrot (it was in the bank), and always fell short.

I soloed this as a 65 frost mage.

It got a bit dicy (too many crits breaking frost nova, not that I am really complaining), but I managed it. It follows the general rule for any frost mage. If you can freeze it you can solo it. If it is immune... run away. =)

The most annoying part of the quest is just getting up there, but it is fairly straightforward. You can't control yourself while in-flight; your launch direction is determined by where you stand and what direction you face. Position yourself square on the trampoline facing the nest, have the camera facing directly downward, and right-click off the buff when you're above the nest. It will take a few tries to get it right.

If you are feeling nervous, take off all your gear before jumping. You'll probably die a lot while jumping unless you have something that mitigates falling damage (cat form, parachute cloak, etc). Thankfully though the graveyard is only a few steps away.

Only one party member needs to reach the nest. Once they steal the egg you have a little bit of time (~30sec) before the matriarch appears.

This can be done with two people - in our case, a 66 warrior and 65 druid - but it would be easier with three.

Looks like you may only be able to do the horse method if you have some kind of speed modification on your mount (i.e. "Carrot On A Stick" trinket, or spurs).

Otherwise it seems like you just can't get quite far enough to make it.

The position on the trampoline I think works best is the following: If you look at the trampoline from above, you will see four small blue dots. They kind of make a small square. Stand in the centre of that square with your face against the nest and you will be flying right above the eggs, don't forget to debuff:) And as mentioned earlier, camera view from top. Good luck

I just did it. 67 lock. 17/41/0.

I fiddled around with this thing for the longest time. I was about to hit "scr.. this" point, when I found the trick.
As pointed out in an earlier post, what you have to do is:
1) Get on the trampoline (Doh)
2) Position yourself dead center between the 4 dots on the trampoline.
3) Look towards the nest.
4) Fire it up.
5) A second before you're above dead center on the nest, you right-click on the featherfall buff to dismiss it.
6) Heal up, grab the egg and wait. The Matriarch will arrive some time thereafter. (About 5 minutes in my case).
7) Locks... DoT, Fel stun, DoT, DoT, move a little off, Drain Life until the Matriarch gets annoyed. Coil of Agony/Howl of Terror/Fear depending on what's up and repeat as neccessary. I used 1 super pot and one 1 shard for a resummon of my old pal, the Felguard.

I lost 4500HP upon landing in the nest, but be warned that a miss is going to hurt a lot more. I lost about 8000HP on the unsuccesful tries beforehand (Yes, I have epic and tried the cliff thing 1000 times, without luck - Need to get The Carrot...). Good thing I had 8050HP :D
Good food is a must if you miss some tries at first.

Soloed the big bird with my 65 balance speced Druid, pretty easily in fact. Just kept the bird entangled and dotted and only used starfire when entangle was about to break. Then re-entangled and repeated. Got two dot cycles per entangle, only had to heal twice.

Seriously, it's piss i can do it 8/10 this way.
Do the trampoline thing, get the buff, land, mount, ride away from the trampoline, SSE, for about 60 yards, ride up the hill to your right.
Face the nest, zoom in and out of char to make sure you're lined up, take 5 steps back, and to get that extra yard, jump not on the edge of the cliff, but a fraction after, you're gaining distance this way trust me. In my experiance i needed carrot equiped, people without it couldn't do it, so.
Requires epic mount and carrot on a stick.
ORRRRRRR

You could wait til you ding 70, fly to the next, pwn the bird that spawns, and reep the rewards 8-).
65 hunter(me) and 65 rogue killed the bird with little hassle. Bit me for about 1,5k tho, hurts still.

Just use the jump-a-tron and when your right above the next dispel the buff(right click on the icon if you didn't know). This way you'll land right on the next, but you will take damage. This way you don't require an epic mount, or wasted tries at jumping off of a cliff.

There's a couple pretty pictures there to show exactly how to do this. The short version is there's a branch on the nest sticking up. You want to line the crest of your hat/helm up with this branch before you attempt the jump. It works every time!

I have read several posts of people dying when missing this nest, I attempted several jumps yesterday 2007-02-07 and I didnt even get a scratch of damage and I overflew the nest all the time and landed all over the place =/

Even as a 70 prot pally (11k HP while using my 2h mace) the bird that spawns is a pain in the ass. Ended up bubbling, healing, stunning, potting and healing over the 3 or so minutes it took me to whittle it's health down. Definitely bring a friend or two for that sucker.

Or do as me, get the buff go on your epic mount and jump from the mountain to the west of it :) I needed to use carrot on a stick and highlander boots and such to make it, but way easier than using the jump-a-tron thingy =)

I would just add .. since it kinda went over my head .....

make sure you are at full health ... doh!
get dead center of the tampoline
adjust camera angle so the top of your head aligns with stick in nest
adjust camera angle to over head view .. you are looking down on yourself
activate trampoline
when you are over nest ... kill buff buy right clicking on it

land in nest
get egg

fight tips for hunters ... and possibly others

do not try to fight while still on nest .. bird will just avoid
do NOT summon pet on nest ... see above and you loose control pretty much .. if you then jump down .. pet is stuck there and can not attack anything

so ...

get egg ..

jump down

re-buff .. heal if you need to etc.
bird will come .. green at first .. then will go red .. you have a minute or so to get ready
its best .. obviousy if your armor is has not gone to crap by missing the nest
kite .. mend pet ... sting ... get help :)

I've tried jumping this damn jump-a-tron 20 times now, never even getting close. As far as I can see you can't change direction in mid-air, and no matter how I position myself on it I get shoot wrong. How is a group (that you apparantely need to take down the mob that spawns) all supposed to hit this off?

Anyone done this successfully that can give some tips?

Don't do this alone. Some people may be able to, but if you finally manage to hit the landing, then fail, you will hate yourself. Bird has 30000 health and hits pretty hard, so not many people will be able to solo it.

The falls should not kill you at 100% health. I missed many times and lost about 99% health but never died.

I had picked up the egg previously with my mage by using my feather fall spell (acts just like the buff the trampoline gives you) and jumped from the hill beside it. But, when the elite bird came I couldn't take it solo and was killed. The next day I come across an undead mage trying the same quest solo. So, I decided to assist him. The mage lived and between us we killed the bird, which was of course tagged by him and showing grey to me. At the end of the fight, to my suprise, the bird was sparkling, but still grey. I looted it and got the feather? Maybe just a bug, but I may try again with my Lock later.

Died a several times while jumping, then read the guide illumnat posted and it worked on first try. I thought of soloing it (I'm 67 bm hunter), but there was Horde mage who helped me. Then she asked for help, and I stayed to help her. And this was a funny story, for we had to kill the bird three times due to lack of comunication.

First, I couldn't tell my blood elf friend how to jump, so I had to watch her dieing for quite some time. Then, finaly she made her way up there and opened the egg. When the bird came, I waited for her to start the attack, so the loot would be hers, but she expected me to send my wolf to attack first. And while I was trying to convince her to attack first (which was quite painful with the emotes) the bird disappeared. We both started crying, for that meant another 10 minutes of jumping and dieing for the blood elf.

So I waited, and after some time the matriarch flew to us again. This time I tried be more convincing with emotes, spammed /openfire, but the mage gave me a sharp NO on starting the attack. So I realised that the only way to make her understand was to start the attack first. I sent Drough into rage and he started attacking the bird, and as soon as the bird became gray I heard a loud doh coming from the blood elf. So finally she realized.

And again, the long wait for her to land in the nest. I must say that this time she made it quicker, she understood how to land there. The bird came, I placed a frosttrap between it and the mage, the mege started the attack, bird flew toward her and right in the trap. Then I sent in Drough and the bird died easily and the two of us got our wonderful long green capes (although I must say it looks better on a night elf girl than on the blood elf). And I must say it's quite an experience doing group quests with sumone of opposite faction :D

Warriors cant solo the 66 elite, witch again comes down to the overreal uselessness of our broken biece of %^&* of a class.

I found using the jump way easier then jump from the cliff, then disspelled the buff above the nest... easy as pie, to bad devs ignorance and wrath turns ageinst the warrior class, since we pretty moch cant solo anything on out own.

We had a couple of people there trying the quest. I was attempting to jump on the trampoline and debuffing instantly, this will work after a couple of tries. Remember to stand on the trampoline though not next to it, and face the egg.

Another option you have is jump one time and get the 3min buff. Then mount up and go to the nearby hill and jump with your mount. While I was there I saw someone do that successfully and it seemed easier.

Also, now you do not take damage when you hit the ground so don't worry about disrobing, unless you really like to jump around naked :D

I've tried stealing the egg multiple times, sometimes I stay in the tree, sometimes I drop down instantly, the bird never comes to fight me. .. Does it break often? Do you need to do something besides try to steal the egg? I get credit for the attempt.

It requires the epic mount (not the flying), and is better than dying. First, leave the buff on. Just to the south of the tree with the eggs there's a bluff. If you are aimed at the nest just right you can jump off the bluff and land on the nest. Open the egg. Don't do what I did though, jump down after the egg part is completed and wait for big bird down there. As a hunter my pet got stuck up top until I feigned death. The bird is a pain.

I managed to solo this as a lvl 65 Balance Druid.

Starfire -> Hibernate -> Repeat

While doing this routine, I was kiting him to Telaar. By the time I got there, he was down to 1/4 health, so the guards finished him off in no time.

I posted a really good guide on how to successfully land in the tree from the Jump-A-Tron 4000 the "right way," from the trampoline. It's pretty easy once you see how to do it!

I tried all way that people sugged on here... Jumping then removing buff..going from the little hill, and then I read, this...

The most annoying part of the quest is just getting up there, but it is fairly straightforward. You can't control yourself while in-flight; your launch direction is determined by where you stand and what direction you face. Position yourself square on the trampoline facing the nest, have the camera facing directly downward, and right-click off the buff when you're above the nest. It will take a few tries to get it right.

Was mad enough at the quest to try it and the having the camera facing downward thing was the key to getting it done right ^_^
Easy as hell tbh once you fiugre it out :)

Do you get to keep the key after the quest and can you still use it?

This is one of those fun items like the furbolg transform rod, which i deleted because at the time it had only a few charges. So i regret that every time i see a player in furbolg form. Don't want to make the same mistake here. If you have to hand the key back afterwards i'm just not going to complete the quest. And it's a key so it doesnt even take up a bagslot.

Does anyone know?

did exactly as bbdk explained it.

1) position yourself dead center.

2) look straight at the nest.

3) use birds eye view, and move your mouse over the next buff spot on your screen.

4) 2 seconds into the air, click off, and see yourself fall straight down.

Had to do it twice, since the first time the bird didn't come. But it was easy.

There IS an easy way..

IF you have a 100% mount (and i needed a Carrot on a Stick as well), use the device ONCE. Do NOT debuff.

Then run to the top of the hill next to the tree (i went up the left side as you face it from the device) and with your mount, run and jump off.

I had help at 67, but as a warlock i MIGHT have been able to solo the bird.. it would have been bloody close though.

Soloed as a 66 Frost Mage with +average gear. Did what Afraia did. Kinda close though, had 5% hp left.

As of 2021-06-04 - this was made easy by getting the buff from using the Jumpatron and then heading over to the cliff nearby and just smoothly falling over with my mount. Had one healer with me but the bird is not immune to frost traps or chill effects so it was an easy kite.

EDIT: I was lvl 65 with green items and blue items from dungeon quests when attempting this.

I did the following and worked like a charm. get up the tent, aim for the nest and the moment u get skyrocketed, insta right click the safe-fall buff u get from the quest. sounds sketchy but it worked

Managed this by angling myself towards the egg (walk right towards the egg from on top of the trampoline), then turning around and walking into the Jump-a-tron-4000 and activating it. Then I cancelled the buff at the high point of the jump or right before and I landed in the nest.

To make this very trivial, what I did was after I got the 3 minute slow fall debuff, I ran ontop of the nearby hill to the south of the questgiver and jumped off there to land on the nest. Same thing applies you just cancel the slow fall when your a few yards away from the nest, but this was much easier than using the actual jumpomatic.
