Warning: Grabbing more than one may seem like a good idea to speed things up, yet every time I did this the guards seemed to hesitate and I'd die or have to Feign, and lose at least one. Classes unable to dump aggro may find themselves in trouble.

These can be soloed as a feral dr00d. Just take care to kill the first two spawns as soon as they are there.

My strat:

Root the mob, cast moonfire, faerie fire. Regrowth/rejuv then bear charge into the mob and maul away.

First add spawns at 70%, kill that straight away; 2k hp and should die fast.

After that add was dead, carry on mauling/mangling away. If hp does run low - bash/root run away heal, hots whatever and go back in. Kill the 2nd add that spawns as fast as possible that should be around 45% hp.

After that kill the mob till he's dead then kill the spawns after. One thing I did notice is when I CCed the last spawn with nature's grasp, and finished the mob off because my health was running low, was that the spawn despawned after maybe 10-15 seconds. It might be worth someone testing this to see if all spawns disappear after 10 seconds or so. :)

It's gonna be slow but they are soloable. Just be very careful where you pull, casting demo roar can pull a nearby mob to you and that is insta death for you. Move the mob to a clear area and you should have no problems at all.

Solo'd easily by any warlock as these giants can be feared. If you keep your fear up at all times, you don't even have to deal with the small spawns.

Can be solo'ed as lvl 62 frost mage. Just have mana/healing pot ready but it can be done without. Oh and use pet. With cold snap you can grind 2 after each other. But have to have pet ready.

You can also just frostbolt kite them and run away from the adds. They are a bit slow to spawn and wont aggro if u are far enough away.

Approach from the Temple, pull and run back. Somewhere near the gates attack again, otherwise the giant will turn around and run away. Drag him a bit further so that four guards start hitting him. Very easy ;D

Note to Alliance players seeking to have the guards kill them: keep in mind that the guards are very weak, and will, in many cases, simply not aggro and start attacking it. They can't really be counted on to tank either, as they do little damage.

They are pretty hard to kill. They split and spawn an add. Could get messy for you.

As of 2.1.0, these now evade if you kite them more than a couple hundred meters, so it is no longer possible to kite them to the nearby temple. If you're trying to kill them then, make sure you kite them in a circle instead of just running away, or they'll up and evade on you.

These can be soloed as a frost mage, possibly by any spec mage as long as you're good with snares. If you can't avoid aggroing the shardlings, you can use CoC/FN to root them all giving you time to nuke down the elite. The shardlings will despawn a little bit after the elite dies, so don't waste mana killing them if you can avoid it.

The shardlings hit for about 225 on cloth, which is almost as much as the colossus once it splits a few times, so you can't just let them beat on you. :) A good opportunity to practice aoe kiting skills, or learn some if you don't have any!

Very easy to solo as a 61 mage. Kite them in circles, stay at a distance so you don't pick up the little shardling adds. Pop water elemental if you pick up any adds.

If you're a warlock this is extremely easy. Just fear and dot, shadow bolt when he's running. Maybe use the void walker to take care of the mini adds

The colossi are leashed pretty tightly now, if you're going to try to fear-kite them don't do it on the side nearest the temple. If they go more than a couple feet in the wrong direction your work will be wasted. Still soloable (62 affliction lock), you just have to be careful.

Hmm, i tried then with my 61 paladin. My best record was 30% but i was exhausted by then :|. I suppose at 63 i could beat them. Their melee doesn't hurt at all but they do an arcane strike (spelling) that can hit upwards 400, sometimes, they went on knockdown rampage.

Soled with 62 Druid Boomkin. Starfire, dots, roots the kill odds and again the same. Hade 6.5k mana and almost always needed innervate.

Soloed by my lvl61 hunter, pretty easy for hunters and warlocks that have tanking pets. Just heal your pet through the fight and kill adds 1 by 1.

During this quest you will find a Crimson Crystal Shard which is then turned in a few times and leads to Natural Remedies, but isn't technically a quest-chain because quests come from two different NPCs.

The mobs can be solo'd as Level 62 Holy Paladin, but took me a about 8 minutes to kill, 2 Heavy Netherweave Bandages and Major Mana pot.

Shield Out... Judgment of Crusader + Seal of Righteousness, Blow you cooldowns fast so they activate soon. Take the Shardlings as soon as they appear.

COLOSSAL PAIN IN THE ASS.

Locks, be warned: this quest will make you want to kill yourself.

You have to juggle chain-fearing (to keep it from crapping out adds that hit like fast little trucks) and pray to your god that as you keep dots up that he doesn't roam outside of his leash zone (which he will do) or into his friends (which he will do) or that when you finally have him down to 5% and he's about to drop that a Fel Reaver doesn't appear out the shadows (which will happen).

It should be an easily soloable elite quest but instead of solving the problem of retards kiting them to guards to kill (how about if the guard kills it, you get no credit, WOW THAT WAS HARD GUYS :D) they just threw a painfully short leash on them and left it at that.

What a colossal waste of time.

The adds are summoned at 75, 50 and 25%. If the mobs are stunned at that point then no adds will be summoned. Makes it a lot easier to burn them down and stun just before the relevant percentages.

I (63 shadow priest) and a friend (63 enh shammy) did this by kiting one of them back to an area near the road that we'd cleared, though if you kite too far they will run back and evade. Concentrate on the shardlings as they happen, and by the end when you are the most mana-depleted, you can just wand or hit the colossus (by then it'll be 25% size, after all). Worked like a charm as long as you keep aggro off the clothie. ^^

Soloed as a level 61 pure-Frost mage. Just kite back and forth around the area with Frostbolt, as they reset if you get to the road. If you keep them moving you don't usually aggro the little guys that spawn every 25% damage done, though I do Frost Nova so I can get some distance once in a while. Shatter and Permafrost probably allowed me to do it, otherwise it would close in too fast or die too slow.

And yes, if you have been wondering if it is possible to solo this as a prot paladin...(at least at level 64 outland quest received gear).

Make use of seal of light, holy shield, consecration (when the first add appears) and when you get very low on energy to cast divine shield, use holy light twice and use netherweave bandage for the rest to get up to 100% health during your bubble. Making use of a mana potion helps, and don't forget to resort to lay on hands in case things really get messy.

I bet it is possible to also solo that with lower levels, given that your gear is good or you have a better strategy.

I saw a hunter die on this quest attempting to solo it, but then again, he was 2 levels below me...and also didn't have any kick-ass gear!

Solo'd as a 61 frost mage. Had to get water elemental out for each, just beat them up as fast as possible, and freeze when they get to you. The lowest I got to on one was 330 health and 1200 mana. Once I did literally get to 1 health (no lie, i was laughing my ass off) from theyre spawns. Watch out fo them...they have no health but hit 300s. Also, last but not least watch out as a fel reaver patrols this place.

EDIT: I was wondering because there are fully grown (these guys shrink when they let out adds) ones dead (aka, 1 hit KO), so can the fel reaver kill these guys? And the grown ones can be mined. I don't know what comes from the though.

I am a priest, i found a warrior to do it with. Do able but hard to keep ur aggro down as priest when its just you and a warrior fighting an elite. The trouble is when they get lower in health they shrink and spawn mini me's. Coor are correct. 18, 40.

Well, I've been through HFP six times now on six different classes, so I figure I'll add my two cents in for those looking for information. Seeing as how I like to come to WoWhead for information on quests like these to see if they are possible to solo with the class I am using, I figure I am not the only one, so hopefully this helps some people.

Rogue - When I came through on my Rogue at 61-62 it was during the release of TBC, so there were always people doing this quest. I ended up doing it in a group for ease. However, my Rogue was Combat Swords, so if he had to solo them, he probably could have if he waited for his cools between pulls. Adrenaline Rush, Evasion and properly timed stuns make it possible to solo.

Mage - Couldn't solo this on my Mage, but that's because he was Fire spec. The adds made it too much damage to live through. Had he been Frost, I think there is a chance he could have done it by kiting them around and using the Water Elemental.

Shaman - My Shaman was able to solo this as Enhancement. I used a Frost Shock and heal kiting method that worked to separate the mob from the adds as well as I Frost Shocked near the add spawn points and was far enough away that the adds did not aggro me. If I got one, I dropped a Stoneclaw and continued. Wasn't too bad.

Paladin - Not too difficult as Protection. Used a bit of Holy gear for mana and Consecrate and shield and I wasn't taking too much damage. Mana is obviously the concern.

Warlock - This quest is trivial as a Warlock, especially Affliction. Neither the mob nor its adds are immune to fear. Fear, DoT, kept a Voidwalker on it just in case fear broke at an add spawn point and the quest is done. No problems.

Hunter - As a BM Hunter, this wasn't TOO bad. Here's how I did it since I am not that big on my kiting skills. I dropped a Freezing Trap, I sent my pet in, popped Beastial Wrath, Mend Pet and let her Growl twice. I then popped my trinket (the one from the Overlord quest) and began using my Steady Shot/Auto Shot weave while keeping Mend Pet up. The adds would aggro onto my pet at first, but heal aggro from Mend Pet would eventually pull to me. One adds frozen, stepped away, dropped another and repeated. Took a while, but they did do down. Key is two things: Make good use of Feign Death to get the adds off you and ALWAYS keep Mend Pet ticking else the damage is too much to heal through.

Here's how I spec'd my Cat for those interested:

Soloable as a 61 Boomkin, 4.7k hp, 5.6k mana, ~400 spell damage and 14.4% crit. Simply starfire roots dots repeat. keep max distance, first add wont aggro. Not sure about aggro mechanics on other two, but if they come throw treants on them, or barkskin. Used up 75% of mana per colossal

watch the guards pwn or join in. rinse, repeat.

Dunno coords but its a huge freakin red shard in the ground north of quest start, hard to miss it. The colossals hang around there.
Soloe'd as a 61 full frost mage. With water elemental out I could push out more than enough dps to kill it, just needed to kite it once (shatter = insane dps). Ignore the little dudes, just focus all your dps on the elite and once he's dead just run away. On average cost me ~3k mana to kill one (hardly anything). When Elemental was on cooldown I did Keep Thornfang Hill Clear quest, fast xp that way.

very easy solo of the whole quest 64 prot warrior decent gear pretty much just quest reward green items from hellfire peninsula
Just charge and spam devastate and revenge whenever its up

sometimes i needed a heal pot or last stand

on the big boss on the last quest pretty much shield wall back to crystal to avoid adds from knockback

at the end of the fight i used a heal pot then last stand and hes down

Just soloed this as a 61 frost spec mage. As long as you are far enough away (i.e frost nova/CoC/blink).. the little adds don't aggro.. just keep kiting them back across the road and hit them with ice bolts to keep them slowed down..

I was able to solo these as a combat swords rogue (t3 gear). Just used AR, evasion and burned them down. Between cooldowns I was able to solo one while crippling kiting him between kidneyshot cooldowns and bandaging once. Doable with skill, probably best to get a group though. These should be easily soloable for any ranged class.

These can no longer be kited. I tried to fear-kite one to the road to Zangar, but it evaded and ran back before I even got it to the road.

Look out for the Fel Reaver - its path runs right through this area, and it really isn't fun to get a colossus down to 10%, only to see the stupid thing right behind you.

Quite easy to solo these guys... just did it under 20 minutes with a 61 Lock 41/0/11.

Just keep 'em feared, and follow them everywhere.

This quest is realy annoying.

62 hunter talking.

I tried the kite-to-telhamat thing but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

You can kite em to a certain point but then they just run back.

Then i tried kiting them but, as expected, it was taking forever to keep running around and also with the little ones coming for you, its hard and takes to long.

Then i thought, %^&* it, lets just kill em. So i started doing that.

Send in pet -> cast bestial wrath -> autoshot + steady shot over and over again.

That worked pretty good until the little ones popped up. Always had trouble there with either me dieing or pet dieing.

I changed it up a little bit by being a small tank and letting the small stonen hit me a little bit before using feign death which made me and pet both survive.

Only problem was that, at the last one, a pesky horde started attacking me when elite was at 50%.

To complete this quest you need to slay 5 Raging Colossus mobs and then return to Tola'thion at the Cenarion Post.

There are only one location you can find those mobs within - to the north of quest giver's position just across the road.
The quest is actually impossible to solo by the most specs at 61-65. Mobs are elite, hit quite hard and can summon adds after every 20 - 25% HP lost.
Warlocks can beat them easy by keeping fear & dots up on them, just beware of pulling another giants. They also dont summon adds while being feared.

You see that huge red crystal to the north? It fell from the sky not long ago, causing a massive earthquake.

When we came out here to investigate the disturbance, we found all of these colossi wandering about that weren't previously here.

There's definitely something strange about that crystal and the energies that it's emanating, but I don't have time for that. Those mountain giants are my immediate concern.

I want you to head up to Fallen Sky Ridge with some friends and deal with them.
