The soul mirrors are the little purple diamonds you see floating around parts of the instance. You can use one soul mirror to gather all the mirrors you need for the people in your group.

The ancestors that you use the mirror on are all over Nagrand. There are particularly alot you can use that are in Garadar. When you use the mirror, one level 66-67 elite Darkened spirit spawned. Was soloable as a frostmage, but heard it is hard to solo when not kiting.

Soloable by a 70 rogue, deadly throw kiting with the use of some cooldowns. Spirits hit for about 1k on leather, have 21,000hp.

as a fire mage, i was able to kite them in garadar. i caught them as they walked out the west gate, and used frost nova, dragons breath, and the occasional blazing speed (when it would proc) to run them in a circle in the field. kite them in a circle, using fire blast and frost nova them when it's up. if they get close, just dragon breath and blink away, or blast wave and bilnk, and go back to your circle. they are not immune to any fire spells for slowing or stunning. if you catch an add, one of the clefthoofs or something, just run it to the guards, they'll take care of it for you. i stayed pretty close to the gate, and when FN was down, just stand back and toss a couple fireballs. note to fire mages....if you aren't used to kiting, use the strafe (E or Q) to run sideways so you keep full speed, if you just back up, they'll catch you. (this last bit is probably common sense, but i added it just in case).

note, you can use the mirror from a slight distance, which will allow you to get to a better range to aggro them by fireball. if your'e at max mirror range, they won't aggro you right away, which allows you to get that first bit of dmg on them off the bat. i'm halfway done with this part, and so far, it's worked perfectly. LUCK!

I found the Soul Mirror 2 steps into the crypts, before any of the pulls.

Darkened Spirits are easily soloable for (70) Feral druid: Bear, bash, heal, bear.
Rinse, repeat.

Soloed, 68 shadow priest. Make sure you keep SW:Pain and VE up, VT if you have it. Keep weakened soul and psychic scream's CD alternating and you should never go below 75%. Hit mind blast every chance you can, mind flay when they're feared and when you're shielded. Goes without saying: Inner Fire & Shadow Protection. As Wrathchilde said the west gate is the best place to pick them out. Also use his tip on turning them at maximum distance, this lets you pop Inner Focus or a trinket before the first hit. Kill them right on the path or pulled them right into Garadar so you don't have to worry about adds.

Didn't see this mentioned before, so I'll throw it out there: The Darkened Spirits ARE fearable. Makes this a lot easier.

Note that if you stand on the north edge of Oshu'gun (near the entrance) you'll have a pretty steady flow of Ancient Orc Ancestors coming to you. Saves you the trouble of running all over Nagrand.

Loot the mirror inside the Auchenai Crypts instance.

Take it to Nagrand and talk to yellow Ancient Orc Ancestors to summon one Darkened Spirit elite, hits pretty hard.

A good spot in Nagrand is around 36,66 just north of Oshu'gun. The yellow Ancient Orc Ancestors spawn repeatedly in this area so you'll never need to go searching.

As a fire mage with around 30% crit chance and +550dmg this really isnt a problem, Use fireblasts while running around, fireballs while FNed, Scorch if its stunned by Impact. Mob has about 20k hp.

You *could* kill them w/o losing any mana/hp at all....

AotC and just run-white damage - run - white damage - run....etc..

You don't need concussive as these run move really slow anyway, I just threw a arcanse shot down with every bit of white damage, you could use serpent sting too but they do have quite a bit og hp so you might run out of mana with those. :p

Orc Ancestors pat CCW on the main road in Nagrand. Use the mirror near one and a 67 elite will spawn. They hit cloth for around 1k and have a consume shadow aura that ticks for quite a bit. Good idea to wait on road near Ancestral Grounds (27,60)so you don't have to run far to turn in.

7. Whether you dps him down, or he times out, you get the kill.

Easily done as a reasonably geared prot warr, they hit for around 415 damage on my 13300 armour. Just kept up shield block (had 401 block value), and shield bashed their Consuming Shadows attack.
When I had the rage, I got my 5 sunders on then shield slam /devastated them down. Also kept up Thunderclap and Demo shout.

Each fight lasted just under 1.5 mins

pretty easy to solo as a shadow priest, at least at level 68, i'm doing inside garadar, the guards don't help, but the 68 elites that spawn are easy, just dot them spam some mind blast, fear when you can, mind flay to slow them, and repeat :)

Solo'd as BM Hunter.Having pet boar 68 level, 11k armor they hit hit for about 650-Spell does funny damage since got avoidance.Just keep on mend pet and they will die fast.If you use all cd - kinda easy =D
Oh, and btw if you pet's health goes critically low - trap the spirit, heal pet(mend+bandage) and start DPSing again.

Solo'd as a 70 arms/fury warrior (35/23/3 PvP spec). Use demo/tclap and keep hitting them (use zerker rage to keep a good stream of rage coming). Whenever it's up, hamstring them and then intercept to stun and save you from taking some damage. pummel their channeled spell and you should be able to take them down. Keep in mind though that I'm wearing mostly epics so if you're not that geared, either bring a friend or bring some PvP pots. Also as said above, you can fear them, so you can fear/bandage or use recklessness/retaliation if necessary. But still very much a soloable quest even for warriors.

Easy soloable, did it when i was lvl 68, Afflilock.

They are fearable and have no resistance against Shadow or fire...just look out for a quiet place (Halaa is great, when its Horde controlled, there will spawn 1 or 2 of them every minute.) Summon, DoT it while running away, and then fearstun and redot it back into the Nether. They wont reset the fight, regardless of the distance you fear them into.

To get this straight here: The entire QUest chain, including all three Chains needed to start it, is soloable as a Warlock (Except for killing Exarch Maladaar)

Solo'd as a 70 afflic lock. A really good spot is 27,46 they walk by singularly and in groups of 3. Just keep them feared and DoT'd and your set. I just kept my imp out for mana.

This quest is quite depressing. As a lvl 70 MM hunter, I have rely heavily on my pet to tank and aggro while I took it down. Every 1-2 kills, I have to constantly drink and eat. They hit pretty hard and can crit up to 1,200 per hit. It's doable for almost any dps class, and definitely worthwhile.

As far as I could tell, the guards don't help you kill the Darkened Spirits.

As a warrior, I ended up running around Garadar like an idiot while trying to Hamstring-kite them. If you run away and they lose aggro, they'll simply despawn.

I soloed them as a 70 holy priest in my DPS gear (with no damage talents). I used lolsmite, MB, SWP, fears, and my trinkets. I had to drink after each mob but I was able to do it. The Garadar guards do not help at all but they hang around looking like they want to help (the guys on wolf patrol constantly dismount and remount but never attack).

Soloed them as a 70 elemental shaman. Totems can help but are not necessary. It's simply a matter of keeping far enough away from them with your Frost Shock while hitting them with Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning. Takes a bit of time to get 15 of them, but it's better than waiting around hoping someone else that's even at this point in the whole quest line will come along.

EDIT: Earthbind Totem is a good back-up for if your Frost Shock gets resisted.

I would assume that this should be easy to solo for any 70 since it's a level 68 quest. They are all level 68 elites for me, haven't seen any 67. Easy solo as a 70 feral druid bear, don't even have to heal and health never gets below 60%. I found that the road outside sunspring post has plenty of them walking by, so as soon as I was done killing one there was another to call with the mirror.

Solo'd this yesterday as a 23/38 SL/SL warlock. Just dot'd up the mob, and feared em while reapplying the DoTs. Never got hit enough to need to heal, I just life-tapped after each one, popped another ancestor w/ the mirror and ketp that up till got my horns :).

soloed as a 67 ele shaman. just used frost shock, earthbind totem, CL/LB. most of the time they didnt even touch me but when they did hit me for about 700-800. i found most of the spirits on the road leading out of garadar towards halaa. plenty there about 2 or 3 each time i went to use the soul mirror on each one.

I found an easy way for casters to do this solo.

Pull the spirit over to the fire in Garadar. There's a fence right to the north of the fire. The mobs won't walk directly over the fence, so you can simply jump over the fence and cast while it's running around to catch up. Snares help with this.

It takes a while, but it's very easy.

Truly the best place to farm them it at the entrance of Oshu'gun, at 35, 66 (that it the north side). The Spirits gather there, and disappear once they reach the edge of the gate, but I guarantee you that you won't be having to look for the Spirits, they kept coming for me there.

Use mirror on the ancestors at max range, and while they are 'conversing', run away ..

You won't have gotten aggro and the elite's just stand still untill some unlucky other player passes nearby :) Do this in Garadar to inflict maximum carnage on mid 60's

Did this quest today with a 68 warrior. Neither of us were awarded any xp for the fifteen 67th level elite Darkened Spirits we killed. Don't know if this is a new bug or supposed to be this way. Kind of sucks since they're elites!

If you can kite at all, these guys are easy to kill. They have 20-21k health.

I recommend the west entrance to Garadar, i never had to wait more than 20secs for an ancestor to walk out, and there is a great big area with no mobs to kite them back and forth, or round and round.

70 elemental shaman, i was able to kill 2-3 before drinking, chain lightning, frost shock, run, repeat.

I stood outside Garader, on the west side, just outside the city. I had a 70 rogue helping me. They spawned and walked outside of Garadar fast enough that we never had to wait more than 30 sec for a target.

As a Holy Palain i was just barely able to solo this. I had done this quest once before on my Warrior-main and knew that it was quite a problem to solo this .

However, i would usually try to summon the elites inside Garadar down the ramp near the blacksmith. The reasoning is this is pretty much the central area of Garadar so any players who are in the vacinity will notice the ensuing fight and assist you.

My Holy Paladin is only geared in quest reward blues and greens . The two tricks are firstly using Blessing of Wisdom and the Seal/Judgement of Wisdom. I kept consecrate up at all times, and when my health went down to about 25% i would use Holy Light to heal myself back up to between 80-100%.

In doing it this way, the fight does take approx 3minutes if no one assists, after the battle is over i still had about 20-30% of my mana remaining, so its all good.

Just a note for druids, the dark spirits can be rooted so it's fairly easy as long as your mana can keep up.

was able to solo this as a lvl 70 combat/sword rogue. The coords 35,66 were excellent for picking these guys up. A word of advice, when they cast that "consuming shadows?" technique that dows dmg over and over, just KICK them and it will go away. also they ARE blindable incase you need a quick bandage watch out if you use deadly poison tho cuz if thier poisoned and u blind them the hit from the poison will knock them out of blind

Ok, if your like me and just ran out of the instance, and went to bed only to come on and find out that you need to go back into the instance to get one of these "mirrors".

Don't Worry.

When you enter the instance there should be a mirror at the end of the hallway and to the left a little near a pile of bones, you can just run up and get it.

solo'd as 69 Hunter BM with Cat (along with all lvl 69 spells)- Using Multiple Trinkets to increase AP during battle. spamming mend pet and using bestial wraith at a moment notice. just keep hitting 1:1 shots with steady and pay attention to your pet and you will do as I did. Drink up after each fight! :)

The aicient ones march down the area @ (33,64) they all head towards the diamond area) - just sit and wait for them to pass you by, quite like looking for a rare spawn ;)

Very easily soloable as a 68 frost mage. I didn't even have to use the Water Elemental. Just use Frost Nova and Cone of Cold and kite them around, they sometimes even wander around on the own while channeling a shadow spell.

Wanted to confirm 36,67 great location. It would have been very hard to do as a 68 feral druid, but luckily I had a 70 lock on same chain as me. With the lock it was soooo easy, while they were feared and I could just wail on em. Those boys do take lots of damage, so if you can't kite/fear/stunlock they would be tough.

BTW, they are really cool looking mobs IMHO.

Soloed these as a rogue. They hit fairly hard (around 1k each on my blue/purple geared shs rogue) so I suggest bleed kiting them and bandaging up whenever possible.
If you want to save time it may be a better option to ask politely in chat for a helping hand :)

If you are feeling a little bored and more than a little evil you can have fun with these spirits!
If you use the mirror at max distance and move back they will not aggro to you, instead they will just stay put waiting for something to attack!
Now your Spirit is very non-discriminatory in the sense that it dislikes both Horde and Alliance with equal passion so try and be careful!
The best spot to be evil is Sunspring Post. It has ancestors walking through it and is a very popular questing spot for the good inhabitants of Nagrand!
Due to a low cool down on the mirror it is possible to summon numerous Spirits all over the area and stand back and watch the fun as a level 64 bumps into a level 68 elite Spirit spoiling for a fight!
A flying mount helps here as I find sometimes the trees can obstruct my views of the fun ;-)

as 67 arcane mage, easily soloable. simply slow, run, arcane missiles, run and slow, arcane missiles, run and slow, repeat...

use trinkets and cool downs to speed it up.

seemed easiest to do it right by sunspring post. plenty of ghosts, and by staying on road, dont have to worry about aggroing mobs.

got ganked twice, but found random help twice.

at end of quest chain, be sure to stick around garadar for thrall's arrival, and invite your friends for a sweet buff.

This quest isn't hard. I managed to solo it as an affliction lock but I had almost no health left after each kill. I had to use all of my fears to keep them off me toward the end.

I soloed this as a level 70 feral druid. Coords 36,63 are good. Actually, I was a bit to the north and west of these coords, between the upthrust rock and the ethereals. Easy to clear (just 2 wind elementals) and plenty of space to work.

You have to use the mirror on the Ancient Spirits (they are yellow to you). When you do, they will thank you and disappear, spawning a darkened spirit (level 67 elite). You have a second or so after using the mirror before the spirit appears. You have to be fairly close to the spirit to use the mirror. However, you can back out of aggro range before the elite spawns to give yourself a bit more preparation time.

I cast a HoT on myself, moonfired to pull, shifted to cat form and dpsed. I usually could get 5 combo points, do a rip, and get another 4 to 5 combo points, and then I'd need to maim (stun). With the mob stunned I could heal (HoT) and finish the mob off.

I did die a few times, mostly due to trying to rush things between kills and running out of mana.

If you're an herbalist the Dreaming Glory buff is very useful.

Just to spell things out for you, the Ancient spirits that you need to convert to Dark spirits using the Soul Mirror are found walking on the foot path between Garadar and the Ancient Grounds in Nagrand (the spirits are on their way to their final resting place etc).

Select the spirit and then right click on your soul mirror and enjoy the fight! Definitely need at least 2 people if not 3 as recommended.

This quest is turned in to D'ore who spawns after you kill the boss. The next part (for the Soul Mirror) is looted from the purple crystal in front of D'ore. After you get 15 of the spirits you turn it in to Mother Kashur. You then return to the Greatmother in Garadar.

I solo'd these as a lvl 70 shadowpriest. With imp VE and 1 fear I had no probs getting them down. Was at about half HP / mana after each kill tho, keeping VE and VT up.

I farmed these near the consortium site since there's a big open field right next to it, but halfway I went to Halaa and that might be a better place to farm them, since there's always some people around willing to shoot at a lvl 67 elite.
As long as you tag them first, ofc ;)

These are really slow. As an affliction lock, DoT, Fear, throw in a couple of SBs and just re-DoT and run around watching them die.

they're completely cc-able, so as 69 boomkin just rooted and pewpewd to death. took almost all of my mana to kill one though so had to drink between every mob :P

For feral druids:

* exchange some of your pure DPS gear for stamina gear (if you are revered with Netherwing, the Commander's Badge is a great help during the second half of the fight)
* you can use the mirror from a little distance, the more the better, and when the spirit transforms make sure you don't agro it yet
* change to cat and regenerate energy to 100
* faerie fire the spirit and build 4 or 5 combat points
* if you get the combat points quickly, rip the spirit (they are not immune)
* if you are near 20% of your health, maim the spirit, then heal
* get some distance between you and the spirit and if it starts running in circles, use the time to regenerate your energy
* rinse and repeat

The best spot for fighting them is, in my opinion, near the entrance to Oshu'gun, the big diamond.

for those of you that rushed out of the instance without reading the quest and realized you forgot to grab the soul mirror, it is NOT only behind the last boss. Infact they are everywhere thoughout the instance. There is one immediately to your left as you enter the instance and you can grab it safely without argoing anyone at all. look for the purple floating crystals.

This quest just kind of sucks. What you're looking for are Ancient Orc Ancestors;

2. Can't be Tab-Targeted
3. 50% translucent

Mobs spawning right about 35, 66 and walking towards the massive Oshu'Gun crystalline structure entrance.

Also worth noting that some orc spirits travel on the road from Laughing Skull Ruins to Sunspring Post.
Spawning and fighting the elite then moving on a bit further north on the road to find the next one coming my way was the best strategy for me.

What the Soul Sees

Locate a Soul Mirror somewhere in the Auchenai Crypts and use it to call forth a Darkened Spirit from Ancient Orc Ancestors in Nagrand. Destroy 15 Darkened Spirits so that the ancestors may rest in peace.

Return to Mother Kashur at the Ancestral Grounds when this task is complete.

For several centuries, the spirits of Auchindoun coalesced into my darkened essence. Many of the catastrophes that befell this crypt were a direct result of my weakened state.

Regrettably, there is nothing that can be done to stop this cycle. It is a facet of the naaru condition - without the void, the Light cannot exist.

Your only recourse is to destroy the ancient spirits of Nagrand before they transform into creatures of the void. Use the soul mirrors found throughout this crypt to free them...
