You can do this quest before or after u killed the boss, doesnt matter.

He stops at the first "lighting pole" and a bunch of mobs will spawn. (2 spellbinders and 2 theugists) and 2 mobs after a few secs.
(couldnt recall what kind)

anyway, this is pretty hard, since they come all at once.

sheep works, hunter traps work, just be prepared for a nasty fight....

And once u mess it up, u cant do it again...

Clear the entire instance before starting the escort, as they will add along with the additional mobs that appear throughout the escort.

Btw, be careful with starting this quest, it's now the second time I've done tombs, and had this quest, and it just will not complete for me. First time I just had the first quest. When someone else started the quest, I didn't get the "XXX has started XXX do you want to also?" dialog. And second time, someone was able to share this quest with me, we do the escort, and no "comeplted" at the end.

Pretty hard to figure out what you need to do, I suspect only 1 can complete it at a time.

If you're around level 64, try to stand near the escort mob when he stops. The mobs will come from the front and the back, and being lower level, i happened to get half of the waves aggro'd onto me at once.

I also recommend doing this after you clear the instance, that way you can use fear, or possibly kite adds if they become a problem.

I wouldn't even attempt this until you are with a group of 68+, this quest is extremely hard and I have wiped in at least 5 groups. The most annoying part is that you can't redo this unless you redo the whole instance.

There are 3 sets of mobs (at least thats as far as I've gotten) with about 4-5 guys in each, and each guy summons 2 more. So you wind up fighting at least 12 at once, and they all aoe. Also, it doesn't matter where you are as mentioned in the above comment, I stayed in the direct center next to the npc & was stealthed and still all the monsters immediately went for me. I think they somehow know who is healing.

Anyway my suggestion is to bring a warlock, mage, and hunter, so you can poly, banish, and freeze trap...then potentially it will be a manageable quest.

I didn't see to much of a problem with it being too difficult. I was tanking (druid-17k armor) with a 66 lock 68 mage and 65 druid. We 4 manned it. Our priest had to leave after the last boss

We did this last night with

65 warrior
65 paladin - healing
65 mage
66 hunter
65 priest - shadow

Warrior died reasonably early into the first room due to the healers getting interrupted a few times (pots and cooldowns used too on war), but they were able to recover, res, and resume the escort. The rest of it wasn't bad at all.

You don't have to out level it as long as you CC what you can, dps assists, and the tank / OT can grab whatever they can. The first room is the hardest imo, the rest are easier for whatever reason.

Very easy as long as the whole instance before it is clear.

My group was un-prepared for it, as the dps warrior along went ahead and started the event mid-instance. We lived through the first 2 or 3 groups, but not the last one, because of the mobs that we failed to clear on the way in. And, as stated above, you cannot attempt the event more than once per run.

Pretty good rewards for a fairly simple quest. If you have a group good enough to kill the Nexus-Prince, you should have no problem with this event.

I can confirm the following, having completed this quest last night:

- all party members who have completed the pre-req quest will get credit for the escort quest, regardless of whether or not they initiate the encounter

- the event is *not* difficult if the group uses good crowd control, coordination, and focus fire (namely all the group tactics that allow you to finish mana tombs in the first place)

- it consists of 2-3 5 mob spawns in different areas as the NPC moves back to the entrance of the instance, followed by a relatively easy boss encounter (easier than any in the instance)

- the NPC will give you a 30 second break (without moving) before the final boss encounter, giving anyone who died during some of the trash mob spawns to run back if necessary

- ensure the instance is completely clear from the quest initiation point to the entrance of the instance; it will make things go a lot smoother

- as far as I can tell the boss at the end does not drop anything of note (i.e. a trash mob loot table)

- after killing the boss near the entrance of the instance, you will "complete" the quest, but you must leave the instance and talk to an NPC outside to turn it in

If you have/had this quest and 'failed' it (it will not show Failed in your quest log), you can drop it and re-take it from the Cryo-Engineer.

Basically, I had this quest in my log but did not complete it (our group wiped on it). When I returned to the instance I was able to get the Cryo-Engineer to appear by using the teleporter cube before Shaffar's room. However, the Engineer did not have a quest exclamation over his head. When someone in my group started the quest, I did not get a "So and so has started this quest..." warning. So, I DROPPED the quest in my log and was able to get it again from the Engineer.

It's a very difficult quest. My group (high 60s, two 70s) cleared Tombs without a problem, but we wiped hard on this escort quest. By that time everyone was tired of Tombs and gave up... not that we could get the quest again without resetting the instance anyway. Blizz needs to tune this quest.

Have done this 3 times:
1st attempt failed. Essentially the mobs in the second fight spawned close and fast and we wiped. Was a very balanced group but once the priest went down ... fubar!

Quest remained as failed - I just removed it.

2nd attempt worked we were more prepared; as a feral druid tanking I managed to get all aggro on me so healer concentrating on me with MA peeling them off.

3rd attempt Failed.. For some reason the engineer in the middle of the infamous 2nd fight fight walked off! We think its because that we fought a little ways back from him and thus as with ll escort quests you get too far away from him and *poof* quest fails!

This quest has similar analogies withthe ways mob spawn as the escort quest from the "Shadow Tomb" https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10887. In other words, unlike *old world quests* having tramled a path through the mobs to get the quest would normally mean it's clear; thus that quest enforces mobs to spawn on the way out and in the open meaning that unless you go slightly ahead you have respawns and quest mobs to deal with.

I would suggest that
a) Always clear every mob! Personally I prefer to kill the last boss for those with the quest. Saves time, and no reason to enter after an escort wipe.

b) Be prepared - 2nd fight seesm to be the worst. Lay traps and have CC peeple ready. No time for Priest MC - they should be targetting the main tank who shoul dbe trying to keep aggro. Rest of group following the Main Assist.

c) Between fights ensure mana people drink!! If duid is in group get them to innervate after 1st fight as that has least time for drinking; also allowing recylcle before final fight.

Once second fight comlpete get ahead to fight 2 Nexus Terrors ahead leaving clear run through to final fight in the first dungeon room.

I love this quest! It has taken the monotony out of escort quests! You have to be prepared, you have to think and act on your feet.

This is a great dungeon for feral druids to cut their teeth as an MT. I was level 65 with ~12kAC and 1k AP; kit green and blue for TBC quests; nothing special. Resto shammy quite easily to keep me up.

This is by far the buggiest quest i have ever been on. I've done this quest 3 times and it has bugged each time.

the gm will not credit you for the quest even after you finish it. so remember:

1. you must start the quest at the same time as everyone else.
2. try not to die. our priest died in the middle, ss'ed back and was not accredited for the quest even after we finished.

i really want those damn shoulders it bothers me how buggy it is.

The comments posted here about the quest being bugged is incorrect.

After a lengthy discussion with a GM subsequent to my completing the quest several times and not receiving credit I was told that the quest was functioning properly and that the name of the quest reveals why not all members in the group will get credit. It seems that you are required to run this numerous times, unless you are lucky, to get credit for it.

My recommendation is to be the only person on this quest in your group. Terribly frustrating...

Then you're doing something wrong.

First he hands out one quest. Everyone pick up that quest AND complete that quest. The followup is the escort quest. Do NOT accept the escort quest, until everyone completed the prequest.

Tried doing this after I we had cleared the full instance in Heroic.. Solo.. as a rogue :) Yeah, think I'm gonna bring along some friends next time :P

Tried this twice now on my druid alt, and let me tell you, in a ordinary pug you can forget about this. Clear the instance with them, get rid of them and then get your guildies and 70 friends to help you out with it instead. I've had two decent pugs, but this just isnt pug friendly. The NPC doesn't respawn, so you only get one shot at it every instance. Don't risk it with a group of 65-68s, it will most likely be too hard. Make sure you get it done with some help instead.

So let me ask this burning question:

1. You're in a PuG. You have Safety is Job One.
2. You complete that quest inside the instance and it gives you the option to start this one.
3. This new quest option comes up and one of the PuG members sees the loot, starts drooling on their keyboard, and accepts the quest in mid-instance clear when no one is ready.
4. You wipe.

Since you have COMPLETED Safety is Job One, is it even *possible* to come back on your next run of Mana Tombs and try this thing again?

Really hope the answer is 'yes.'

I guess they fixed it, we failed the quest and it won't allow us to pick the quest up again, so i'm thinking it's a one time only quest either u fail or you pass it..sorta sucks but it doesn't suprise me blizz would do something like this.

My group did this last night (all around lvl 64-65). The best advice I can give is to have a plan before you accept the quest. The first time I attempted the quest, our entire group was caught offguard and we wiped.

With seduction and sheep, we had an easier time handling the mobs that spawned. What we did was.. we feared the mobs, crowd controlled, then killed. The frustrating thing is that the npc you're helping will sometimes break cc.

This escort is bugged sometimes I think. Our complete group had the quest in their log, including me, and it showed the complete group was sharing it. For some reason though, me and another guy in the group did not receive any update or reward after completing, even though we did it flawlessly and always were within close range with the escorted guy. So I guess I'll have to do this again...

Did this instance tonight. Cleared the whole place. A party member accepted the quest, and he instantly despawned and we failed. No idea why, very pissed off.

theres a few bugs with this quest, most notably if a member dies and releases even if he is rezed or runs back quickly, he may or may not receive credit on completion.
I know several people this has happened to and the GM's have told all of them more or less tough luck

Just to confirm, in the event that is was not made abundantly clear by the above messages:

If you FAIL, you CANNOT pick the quest up again in the same run. You must RESET THE INSTANCE in order to have the Cryo-Engineer show up so you can accept the quest again.

I did this quest long before I went Prot-Pally, not sure what I did with the reward but now I need these metal greaves, is there a way to reset quests or is there anything equivalent to these boots I can get through questing?

Learned it the hard way --> If you do try this on Heroic, the mobs spawning will be Elites that hit 1k+ just like the trash you've cleared within the instance...

Not impossible I guess, but wasnt worth trying...

Heroic Difficulty makes this quest almost impossible. Went in for a full Heroic clear, not too many problems, but the fact the the guy who comes with you is a regular 66 Elite, and the adds that spawn are Heroic 70 elites, mean he will be cut down within seconds.

Don't get to far away from the Cryo-Engineer either. I had to sit recover mana after a fight and failed because he got to far ahead of me. There was a notice on the chat log that did pop up to say it failed.

Kay, got completely screwed over on this. I died fighting 2 Voids, and used my Shammy Ankh. Turns out you CANNOT die at all during this, otherwise the quest bugs up completely and screws you over. Have fun running Tombs again. =\

We had a death during the run (due to the Arcane Fiend's ability to put a 15 Cooldown Interruption on my healing spells) and they didnt get credit for the quest turn in. It it didnt say "Failed", but she didnt get credit for the escort either.

Not certain if this is a Bug, or the way blizz intended it.

Apparently you can only try this once per run in Mana-Tombs. The quest giver does not respawn as far as I can tell...

We did this instance and did the prereq for this quest! But when the escort was about to start we figuerd we would kill the last boss first and then do the escort! But when we returned after killing the boss the questgiver was gone! I really think that stinks! But well...If I do it again! Ill know! :P

WARNING: If you die at all (group doesn't have to wipe) you WILL NOT complete the quest. I ran this twice and died (got rezzed before escort went too far) and haven't gotten the progress for it yet.

Be careful to not move too far away. My group ran ahead of him to where the next group of enemies would spawn, and we failed the quest.
