Dirty Larry is the NPC you'll need to find and talk to for this quest. He can be found in the northwesternmost point of lower Shattrath with two of his buddies. Upon asking for the book he'll say a few lines and give you a countdown till he attacks you. During this countdown you are allowed to get the first shot. Dirty Larry himself is a 66 elite and his friends are 66 non elites. They are NOT immune to snaring/rooting, so kiting is a definite option if you're looking to solo this. If you kite him too far(past the nearby bank) he will reset.

I was able to solo this guy at 64 as a frost mage, here's how I did it:
1. Start the event.
2. Sheep one of his friends instantly after talking to Larry.
3. After one is sheeped, kill the other.
4. Larry should be on you now kite him around. I used my water elemental to put up a little DPS and to help with frost nova'ing him. Keep up the kiting/dpsing till he dies -- remember to keep the other mob sheeped. I had to use cold snap and 3 frost shields.

This may be extremely tough to solo for certain classes.

It is possible to complete the quest if a different group defeats Dirty Harry. I happened to ride up as an alliance group (im horde) just finished him up, and I got the "Complete" thing to pop up, and was able to talk to Harry and have him give me the next quest.

Yes I too did the same as jumpee. I road up as a couple alliance were killing and helped them kill him and all I had to do was talk to dirty harry and turn the quest in. =)

Yep same for me (night elf rogue), as I found dirty harry a tauren druid just charged him and I though if I helped him he would help me later. We just nuked dirty harry until he "died" and I saw the objective was completed. You just have to damage him enough to get the kill doesn't matter if you are horde or alliance.

Easily solo'd as a warlock, just make sure he's next to the campfire when you finish him off or he'll evade simultaneously to the quest completing (really stupid).

Use a voidwalker AoE taunt to start off, howl of terror, and keep the elite feared while you kill the non-elites (low damage). He hits about 1k dmg but he's easily kited (CoEx) or fear bounced with CoR/CoW switching. He's got a ton of hp to eat through, so don't spam inefficient stuff. Again, just make sure he's near the camp when you kill him or it bugs.

Soloed as a 66 priest. Get max distance when they crack their knuckles and shield up, put full dots on him and run. Don't go too far, they might evade. Then fear them all and flay/blast the crap out of larry. Then dot him and run again. The point of running is to buy time for fear to cool and so you don't get pummeled to death. Everytime it's up let them catch up and fear them again and then flay/blast larry over and over. Once he's down to about 5% run back to the camp and finish him off using the same routine. EZ

Fearkiting just makes life all too easy. Did the Q while talking on the phone (66 Afflictionlock) by just fearing and DOTing. Should be doable on quite low levels if you can just keep him CC'ed.

Solo'ed as a 67 Druid. It was a pain at first, but once I got the strategy down it was pretty easy. I talked to Dirty Larry and got to max distance while he was getting ready. Once he aggro'ed, I rooted him and went bear, to take out the adds. He arrived as I was killing the second add, and I killed the second add while using Frenzied Rejuv. I then bashed him (Or tried to, it actually missed) and then got out of bear form and rooted him. I backed off, and healed myself. I waited for about a minute, letting the roots tick and my mana rejuv, all the while my bash cooling down. I then went back in, and repeated the bash --> root combo again. Hope this helps!

Soloed this quest as a 64 mage. Probably only doable as a frost most.

Sheeped Larry, and used water elemental to help me aoe the other 2 guys down. Then I kited Larry around his immediate area. Was difficult and I had to use consumables, but I did finish it. Larry himself hits for 900ish on cloth, while his guards hit for 200ish, so don't try this if you can't kite/cc.

Managed to solo as a 70 Warlock. All are fearable, so I kept Larry running around feared while I killed the other 2.

Then DOT'ed Larry and kept him running in circles.

Soloed as a 65 Feral Druid

Heres how I did it:
Took the strat of the above comments for druids and rooted Larry as soon as the fight started. Then I went bear and proceeded to kill his adds. As I killed the first the root broke, so I War Stomped(Tauren) and rooted him again. Healed when I needed to. Then once his 2nd add was dead, I re-rooted him and healed up. Majority of the fight I kept him rooted because the root has a longer effect then the diminishing return on it. This fight honestly took about... 7min. As I had him rooted, I got tired of waiting so I went bear and proceeded to dps him as best I could, then when I got to around 40% hp I bashed and re-rooted, waited until mana/hp was good. Also, as he was rooted and I was regen'ing, I sometimes wrath'd and starfired him just for a change up.

It is possible to solo as a druid, just have to have patience.

Soloed this as a 70 holy paladin. When you first talk to him, you have a bit of time to kill the other guys. Do this immediately, you'll probably be able to incapacitate one and have the other almost done. After I did that, I judged light on Larry and swung away using righteousness, holy shock and rank 1 consecrate.

I had to pop divine shield, but it's easily soloable. I even had a couple resists in there, so you might not even have to use divine shield.

There is a glitch with this quest that makes it very easy(relatively).I found it accidentally by doing failed tries with my druid.

1 Start the event, the mobs will turn yellow and become attackable after a while.

2 They'll start running to you, don't engage them, simply run(on my druid i fought one of them but i decided to run instead).

3. They'll reset after you run past the bank, now quick follow them back, there is a brief time period after they run back to their initial positions, that they are still attackable and yellow before they become talkable again.

4. You can go close or range pull the elite off the group without worrying about his adds. He has about 20K-30K HP and hits for 700-800 without armor, and has no special abilities.

Soloable for a 64 (feral) druid. Root elite and dps down adds in cat. Pop out to re-root if needed and throw on some hots. Once the adds are gone slowly dps him down in bear. Once your health goes below 50% bash and root, then just bandage and regen some mana, throw on some hots and go back to bear. It wil take a while but you can finish it with almsot full health and mana.

easily soloed with a 64 balance/restore druid. no shifting back and forth needed.

activate dmg trinket. root boss. put insect swarm and moonfire on both adds. put regrowth and renew on self. pop innervate. reroot boss. reapply insect swarm and moonfire. reapply renew and regrowth. reroot boss. repeat until adds are gone. then i had to chain root the boss to wait for a second innervate. then i just root+wrath spammed and killed the boss. about 10 minutes in total for the entire fight.

Easily soloed as a 70 combat rogue.
I just sapped one of the friends, used blade flurry, evasion and adrenalin rush + attackpower trinkets and BAM! They went down very easily.

It's much easier if you are alliance with Aldor.
Simply just pull them up to the Aldor Bank. People will just kill them for you.. lol

I soloed them with a 70 hunter. I wanted to trap Malone but i traped one of his buddys instead (the dwarf). Until he counted down i killed the gnome, then traped Malone. Killed the dwarf fast (pet keeping him with growl) and then focused on Malone. Had to trap him one to use a bandage and heal pet. Then pet died when Malone reached 10% and i melee'd him until 1%, when he says that he gives up.

I had a small problem when trying to solo this as a 70 mage. I decided to sheep the elite and then kite him after killing the adds, however I did not get the quest complete when I tried this. I guess some bug with sheeping the main dude...

I was able to solo as a 70 Hunter, MM spec with a cat pet. I tried twice, the first time Larry hit my trap, I killed the two adds, then him with my cat tanking him the whole time and mend pet spammed. However, after "We give up!" he wasn't "completed". I tried a second approach and it worked:

Lay a trap back a ways, around 30 yards or so. Then run up, place your pet on Stay, and run back to your trap. Put a MD on your pet while waiting for the countdown to the attack. As soon as Larry is attable, fire an arcane, and multi. Make sure to keep Mend Pet up at all times, and a sting on Larry to help out. One of the two adds will come running to you, and get trapped. Drop a 2nd trap, and pull the other add to it (Distracting shot, whatever works for you). Meanwhile, focus fire everything on Larry. You should be able to burn him completely down before getting into serious health issues, even after the traps break. I still have nearly half health at the end, and after Larry has given up, the adds despawn and you can complete the quest. Worst case, just bring a health potion just in case, but you should have no problem getting Larry down, if you have semi-decent gear. For the record, I did it with only 6800 health, and I don't have epics, so it isn't like I was way OP'd for it (other than being 70, of course).

Full destro lock. The 6g reward at 70 was enough to cover the repair costs after all the dying I did soloing this. =P After several tries I did it and it wasn't too hard with a proper strategy. Just make sure to keep Larry feared because he hits HARD. And conserve enough mana to keep DoTs up.

Though this quest says that need to be 3, you actually only need 2 since some classes can even solo it. I soloed it as a lvl 65 prot paladin...had to use all my cooldowns and some pots though.

Solo'd this as a 65 hunter.

Start the quest, throw down a frost trap, and back up. Kite Dirty Larry up through the Aldor bank and to the ledge at 44,33 (where you probably jumped down to Dirty Larry). When you jump onto the ledge, as far as you can go without falling off, the guards and Dirty Larry will start to run back to their original position. Then jump back and they'll come back to you. Shoot them once or twice and jump back, rinse and repeat until he's low HP. This whole time your pet should be on Dirty Larry, with growl disabled. When he gets to around 20%, kite him back and finish him off near the start point so you get quest credit and he doesn't evade. You might be able to just jump off the ledge and have him return to the start point without evading, I didn't try it- just kited him back. You don't need to kill his guards.

I found a very easy way to get Larry to come on his own. Simply talk to him and run away till they retreat back. Run up to him again ( he will not attack when they return to their spot ) and soon as you can talk to him again. Just before Larry and his friends are about to run to you his two friends will fade away , now you just have to find away of killing Larry solo. Very easy to do as 65 hunter. I used a freeze trap in the middle of the fight to allow me time to Heal up my pet.

Soloed as a 70 combat rogue (19-42-0).

Sapped the guy on the right as the fight was about to begin, blew Evasion, Blade Flurry, Abacus of Violent Odds, and Evasion, and DPS'ed Larry down.

Blade Flurry knocked out his one friend before I was even done DPSing Larry. When I finally downed Larry, I had about 50% health left.

The guy on the right never even got a piece of the action, he was sapped the entire time.

Killed Larry, turned quest in.

Soloed as a 65 Balance Druid

Started the fight by rooting the elite and keeping him rooted until the nonelites were down.
Used my treants to keep one nonelite busy while killing the other one
After that i healed myself, started an innervate and used all my most mana efficient spells to get the elite down while keeping him rooted until the very end..

easy soloed as lvl 65 feral druid, stand as far as possible for the beginning of the fight root Larry and swipe/maul/mangle the adds till death, I had to reroot larry once before the adds died, then root again heal and get him down to 1%, just make sure the you pull Larry back to the fire or you might fail the quest. easy good luck

Just solo'd this as a 68 hunter Marks. Dropped ice trap down next to Larry and had pet aggro the other two while I shot them down. Then just kited Larry as pet (boar) charged to immobilize him. Keep dropping traps and scatter shot with concussive to slow him and keep him at a distance. There were a few times he would "fall" into the ground and I could not see him, but I would just run and he would pull out of that area. Very easy as a marks hunter.

I experienced an odd thing while trying to solo this quest. I kept Larry feared while taking down his adds. As I didn't have a lot of mana afterwards, I just kept him feared with dots and not much nuking. When I finally got him down to 0% he just ran back to the quest spot as if nothing had happened and I had to try all over.

Second time I nuked him down as fast as I could and quest got completed - so might be a maximum time you can spend on taking him down. Soloed as a warlock at lvl 65.

Take note that even though the adds aren't elite they hit a tad bit harder than regular mobs (~250-300 per hit on cloth vs ~100-150). Larry himself hits for 800-1200 damage.

Soloed as a balance druid. Started the event, ran back, and rooted one of the non elites. Larry didn't aggro yet, so I killed the other non elite and left one rooted. After that larry ran at me, so I rooted him and just had to deal with the non elite hitting me which wasn't too bad. Kept up roots and just dpsed him down. Had to pop and innervate and mana pot, but it was simple enough.

Soloed as a 66 BM hunter, although it took a few tries to get the strategy down.

Things to remember:

His friends activate long before he does (he just stands there talking for a bit).
"Dirty" Larry himself is not immune to CC or slows (at least of the kind I've experienced; Freezing Trap, Frost Trap, Concussive Shot and - on the mage end - the Frostbolt slow effect and Sheep). Neither are his friends, but he's elite and his friends are not, so you usually want to keep him out of your hair while you beat down his friends.

That said, the strategy I used was this:

Lay down a Freezing Trap some distance away. (Note: don't put it right on him, it'll just trap one of his friends instead since they activate earlier, and you want to keep Larry trapped until you've killed his friends.)
Wait out the cooldown on the trap, then talk to him and immediately back off (to just beyond the trap, so when he runs at you, he'll walk into the trap).
Send your pet against one of his friends, beat him down, then the other - unless you get unlucky with resists or traps breaking early, you should be able to kill them both while keeping Larry trapped *.
At this point I switched Growl off on the pet (earlier attempts to use it for tanking led to pet death; figured it would be easier to just use him as a source of extra DPS), flipped on Aspect of the Cheetah, went to max range on Larry, Aimed Shot -> Steady Shot -> Concussive Shot (he was really close to me by this point; you might want to skip the Steady if you're not confident on your timing), turn tail and run.
From here onwards it's a straight kite (using the jump-shooting trick **). My pet ended up pulling aggro and dying halfway through, so it took longer than I'd planned - ended up having to kite him around the entirety of Lower City, drop a Freezing Trap at the end (in front of Griftah, roughly), walk Larry into it, and use that to turn him around and kite the other way due to lack of space to turn normally.

* Basic chain-trapping description: lay down trap, wait on cooldown, pull (or have the tank pull if you're in an instance), walk mob into trap, lay down next trap and move so it's between you and the mob, rinse and repeat. At some point, if you're not fast enough with killing the other mobs, you'll end up with a trap breaking when it's still on cooldown - you have to pay attention to that and make sure you're far enough away that you can re-trap without getting eaten.

** Basic jump-shooting (kiting) description: Aspect of the Cheetah on, jump, use the mouse to turn 180 degrees, hit an instant shot (Arcane Shot is good, Multi-Shot is not since it has a hidden cast time which makes it necessary to stand still while using it), use the mouse to turn 180 degrees back, land from the jump, keep running, rinse and repeat.

(You might want to practice both of these on something other than Larry if you've never done it before.)

I just went to the nearby battlemasters and asked someone to help me. People waiting for BG's are often so bored they'll do it gladly and free of charge.

It's possible to split this fight into 2 parts if you're trying to solo it as a rogue. Initially, when Dirty Larry starts running at you, vanish and allow him to reset his position. For a split second after the returns to his original spot, he is sappable.

Once he's sapped, you can try to quickly take out his 2 friends and bandage back to full before it wears off, allowing you to take him on solo. Still not an easy fight though.

Soloed this with my 69 frost mage. The key is to Poly Larry asap. Then use your Nova to root the other two. Taking them down isn't too hard, since they are non-elite and level 66. Once they are down, you should have enough time to Evocate to regen your mana. I summoned my Elemental and just tried to stay away from Larry, rooting him and keeping Ice Barrier up as much as possible. He hits fairly hard but my Ice Armor proc'd Freeze twice on him, which obviously made this much easier than it otherwise would have been.

Soloed as a lvl 64 Affliction Warlock with Succubus.

Your Succubus in defensive mode will automaticly seduce one of them. I opened up with AOE fear, dotted some, feared Larry and killed the other two. Right now I have to do it again because I didn't keep Larry feared when he was the only one left. He hits hard.

Just noting that prot pallies in high 60's are able to just barely solo this. 11K HP with BoK took Lay on of Hands, 2 super healing potions, and 2 heavy netherweave bandages, but managed to just eek it out. Focused on his two buddies first before him - definitely utilize the small time you have to attack them before he starts fighting.

By the way - don't count on any people of the opposite faction to help you on this one, even if they need it. Definitely funny, and a little irritating, to watch the undead priest dance behind you on this one. :)

I couldn't solo even at lvl 69 Fire mage. as i Sheeped the one of them, he attacks me "CLOTH USER" For like 1000 Damage "non-crits" ... i Nova'ed him and he's friend just behind him I killed the Little Gnome, and Dwarf still was Sheeped, but then the 66 ellite "Dirty Larry" Hit's me 2 times for 800 then 1000 and i was on 200 HP or something, And then he crits me for 1600. So, i will say that get 2man. or 3man, if not you have totaly nice gear, and Very very! Nice specced.

Shaman's Earth Elemental DOES NOT aggro the mobs so it won't attack or tank them. (My guess is because they are neutral.)

Here's how I soloed this as an Affliction Warlock, Level 65.

Start with the succubus. Aggro the 2 non-elites and seduce the elite. You should be able to drain tank both of them without much trouble, if in doubt just Death Coil or even (instant) Howl of Terror and it should become simple.

Once the non-elites die, prepare to fearkite the elite. One thing you might have to watch out for, is that like mentioned, if he's kited too far away he resets. To minimize the luck factor, save your Death Coil for the last 10% or somewhere close, and as the last fear ends and he approaches, DC him. That will allow you to keep him in moderate and valid range, enabling you to finish him off safely. Once you "kill" him (~%1) he'll give up. Good luck!

I soloed this quest as a 65 Holy Priest, but I didn't actually fight anyone. I ran away after triggering the attack, then went AFK. Apparently if you just stand around this fellow , and someone else does the quest you get it too. I verified this with a level 65 Fire mage as well, and it appears to work.

I'm not sure if that's a bug, or what, but it works and makes this much easier.

The quest says 3 players,so I went over to see what level the mobs were. When I got there two Horde were hitting on him and I sayed around to watch. When they were done I got the xp for doing the quest. Easiest 11650 I've ever gotten.

If you are chain-fearing as a Lock, make sure when he is near death you are in close proximity to him to complete the quest.

You don't have to actually do the follow-up quest yourself to complete it.
One day I was doing another quest in Shattrath, and I happened to walk by a group of Alliance doing this quest. As they finished it, it completed for me as well and I hadn't touched any of the mobs.

I was waiting on a guildmate to come help me kill the 3 guys, since I had helped him with this very quest earlier.

3 Alliance (I'm horde) came and killed them, and I got credit.

So, if you're lucky enought to be there when the guy is beat, you don't atually need to kill him.

Seems like a difficult quest to solo, though. I imagine any class like a hunter, lock, mage could. As far as a priest, warrior, rogue, etc.. probably not. 2 should be enough though.

I completed the quest tonite. Killed Larry last and he was not in fear when killed. The quest says "Complete" but when I go to Ezekial to turn in, it won't let me. Has amyone else had this problem? If so any ideas on how to fix?

Almost made it solo as a frost mage at 65. Brought a paladin friend for the occasional heal and BoW and got it done. Hefty use of frost nova and water elemental's freeze and some kiting takes them down. They hit cloth for about 800.

The main guy has a about double the HP compared to his underlings.

You don't need to kill Larry's sidekicks to complete the quest. Just burn Larry down as fast as possible and his cohorts stop attacking when he would "die".

I don't know what happened, me, a Frost mage (65) went to Lower city to "speak to Larry.
Water elemental ready and buffs loaded. They stayed yellow so water elemental didn't do $%@#.
If the 2 Level 70's (Priest and Paladin) hadn't jumped in i would have been toast.
Thx Blizz, anymore "jokes"?

Watch it when you go there, mage get hits of 700+.

didnt bother to read this first but figured i can solo as a 70 elem shammy.

put up fire totem, healing stream, wrath, and poped earth once i killed the 2 adds. this gave me enough time to bandage and pop mana pot.

i messed up and threw up my stoneskin totem when my elemental was still fighting so i lost my dps and had to really do it on my own. rotated with lighting, earthshock, lesser heal, then put back up water shield.

quite a long fight but doable.

This guys prty simple, me (64 mage) 2x64 Prot wars, and a 65 hunter did this guy no trouble. he has 2 adds but there prty simple.

Solo'd as 65 frost mage... adds are easy, but be sure to keep a distance from Larry, he hits 1-1,5K dmg

Soloed as a 66 BM Hunter. I used a freezing trap on Larry then took out adds. I got him down to 25% before my pet died and then just kited him around.

Anyone know if this is bugged atm?
Me and my group waited at 43,29 for 40 minutes today,and no sign of Dirty Larry anywhere...just 2 npc's sleeping by a fire.

Or is it just a really really really slow spawnrate?

If you wanna solo, i suggest taking out the non-elites first, they stink.

ffs this quest is way too easy for a lock, im a lvl 64 lock, lol, what the hell I solo without anyproblem. this is how. Get the felguard on him, the adds will go there too, get near, HoT, then get an add CoA, Corruption, CoD. he will die, just get to the next one, CoA, Corruption, Fear, immolate
then quick go back to larry and help the felguard finish him off, Fear, DoT's, drain life, Fear, Drain life, fear, DoT's. over and voila (quest completes even if u fear or not, even if he goes far or not, doesn't matter as long as u kill them.

Soloed it as 70 Prot Paladin. Took down adds first, after that Larry. Used LoH, bubbled one time but didn't have any pots. Easy fight.

solod as 66 warlock. had to beat them 3 times. if you beat the main guy while hes feared you wont get the quest done and you have to do it again, so just kite him at the end.

A hordie was killing him so I joined in with my ally warrior. Got the credit for the quest even though I did not tag him.

Confirmed at 43,29

Quest giver has a (?) as grey, you just have to click on the baloon to chat with him.
Then, he mumbles something, starts counting and fights you.
After you kill him (defeat him) quest is completed and he gives you next quest in chain.

Didn't use any Pots, Divine Shield nor Lay on Hands.
Just keep Holy Shield up, Blessing of Sanctuary and switch from Seal of Light to Seal of Wisdom when needed.
Enter combat, Avenging Wrath and Hammer of Justice.
Then, only use Hammer again when you are about to heal yourself, to avoid interruption. Adds where killed before I made my first heal.

This is just too easy as a lock.. did it on my own at 64.. First kill the adds then chain fear larry and dot his ass off=) very easy as affliction lock!

Solo'd as a 64 frost mage. Sheeped him took adds out. Got mana and health. Grabbed pet and easy to kill.

I had to do the quest as a 67 Undead Priest and got credit for helping a Human Warlock that tapped first

I had a grey mob health bar and still got quest completed =)

Once "Dirty" Larry is beaten down til near dead all of them go neutral

i beat him him down, but my quest didn't complete... i also have the problem with some other guy in shattrah that you need to beat down, i beat him down but can't complete the quests

Dirty Larry is near the Lower City entrance to the Aldor Bank.

He's got 2 buddies with him. So far I haven't been able to solo him.

Solo'ed as 70 prot pally. You hunters and your pets! Pah, walk up and beat him let his two lacky's fall in my consecration, without ever even feeling the wrath of my mace. Easy! Okay so what im 70 and didnt find the quest till then. :P

As already mentioned - he mustn't be feared as you "kill" him 'cause he'll reset.

Simply root elite first, kill 1st add.
Bash on second add, recast root on elite.
Kill second add.
Take down the elite, nature's grasp if u need it to heal u to full.

Soloed as a 67 Warlock, had to do it twice as he was still in fear when he died the first time. Apart from that it was pretty easy. Fear Larry at the start kill the 2 adds then chain fear Larry until he's low on HP then kite him for the kill.

easy solo for a frost mage. :) I soloed him at 66.

sheep larry, take down adds with help of water elemental.
Keep sheeping Larry and spirit regen health/mana. (takes long but oh well)

Bring up water elemental and take Larry down. Keep running around and don't let him touch you with slowing and/or freezing him down.

68 Shaman with help of 70 Rogue (ty Graydon). Rogue activated quest, then sapped an add, I put up Stone Claw, Searing and Mana Totems. Beat on Larry until Rogue started to take real damage, then sat and healed Rogue, not taking damage till sap wore off. Larry went down and adds stopped fighting. Quest complete, next one started.

Larry is in the "corner" between Aldor Bank and Aldor Rise, along the outer ring of Terrace of Light.

67 Priest here, did this with the help of a hunter and a rogue, had hunter tank larry, rogue take out adds, then full dps on larry. worked well

Level 64 naked warrior with a fist weapon. Went down like nothing. His buddies just looked and me and laughed til they were dead.

Yeah buddy I'm tuff, I can tell you any solo story you want...and I NEVER tell you how to get to the quest guy!

ok guys i've done this about 10 times thinking glitch each time....what you need to do is kill the 2 adds however u can and use void or whatever pet to tank Larry (DO NOT FEAR LARRY).....if u can beat the 2 adds (2 adds u can fear) and then kill LARRY (LARRY U CAN'T FEAR OR GLITCH) then u have it made....so fear all EXCEPT LARRY and boom u win

Did this quest at lvl 66, feral druid. And it was not easy. Killed be twice before I nailed him.

Larry is on the edge of the lower city in Shatt, he is to the right of the Aldor rise in the outter green belt, 44,27.

You walk up and he has a silver question mark over him, click on him and you get some text, one of which is bubble which has you ask him about the book. Guess, he gets upset and starts to count down, 3, 2, 1 and all three attack.

Larry is a lvl 66 elite, the other two are also 66, but not elite.

Tanked all three with bear, but got killed, they pound on you too much to drop out and heal. Second time I rooted Larry and went for his adds. Killed one and got the other half way down when Larry came after me. Figured I could tank two them, wrong, killed me again.

Last time, root Larry, kill an add, then root him again for good measure and killed the other add. Then heal. Larry by himself is still hard. Had to heal twice and use a healing pot. Used the pot when I ran out of mana, just enough to root him with very low health. Hit innervate, rooted again and healed. At this point DPSed him with cat because he was at around 20% and I was healed. LOL he still knocked the hell out of my cat but went down.

Good luck, not an easy quest to solo, but can be done. Druid power. ;)

Oh, and had an Onslaught Elixer, 20 stam scroll, 20 strength scroll and with buffs in bear form had, 11965 armor, 1401 AP, 30.29% crit, 9922 health and 4099 mana.

On edit, I was thinking about this fight and was still bothered by the fact that I ran out of mana, which has never happened for me as a feral druid. Lol, I remembered casting tranquility by mistake, I was going to click on innervate and hit it by mistake. Opps, 1200+ mana down the drain. If I had not done this the fight would have been much easier. Again good luck. Ulster.....Onyxia

Tried to solo this as a 65 ally priest, brought down 2 adds, but didn't have any mana left and ran away. Then 3 hordies came and started it. I helped kill Dirty Larry and even though he wasn't tagged by me the quest still got completed :P

Cause it is NOT easy to solo at all. I'm a lvl 65 hunter with a decent pet, and I still cant even kill one of his adds, let alone him. He may be unarmed, but he hits extremely hard. He averages about 550-650 on my pet and 700-800 on me, critted me for 1456 once! ANd his speed is fast.

I dont believe any of you. I can't come near soloing him, already tryed twice and had my ass handed to me each time. He hits too hard, and so fast, that my pet cant off tank him for more than 10-15 secs till he dies, even when I put mend pet spells on him.

You're seriously going to need help on this. Can't be soled by a lvl 65, proabably not even two 65s. I'd recomend at least 3, like the quest text suggests. Otherwise, you're in for a world of pain.

I figured since it says three man i could probably solo it, and i was barely right. lvl 67 Enhance Shammy, Dropped Stone elemental guardian then locked dps on larry. Throw heals on your elemental and pound the living daylights outta this guy. I died when he had 1% life left popped reincarnation and used earth shock to kill him.

soloed on my lvl 66 BM hunter with ravager pet. well, i set down a freezing trap before i talked to him, then afterwards his adds become fightable. so i set my pet on them before larry finished talking. so i went back to my trap and caught him. took out the adds while healing my pet. put scorpid sting on larry, had my pet tank him. mended him, and gift of the naaru'ed him (Draenei ftw!) till larry was about 20%, froze him, bandaged and mended Madness (my ravager) till he was at full health, then went at it again. pshhh, 3-man my ass, lol. took one major mana pot, a bandage and a wee bit o skill.

i found them right where other posts and the coords say. easy find =P

I'm pretty sure this quest is bugged. Attempted it in a group of 3 people who needed the quest. We beat him down over and over, but to no prevail we could not complete this quest.

I’m a Level 67 BM Hunter with average gear mostly consisting of green quest reward items.

I began by first placing a Freezing Trap on the ground further away from the trio. I then talked to “Dirty” Larry to start the encounter. As he was giving his speech, I set my Ravager to attack “Creepjack” and “Epic” Malone. Shot a few arrows, threw on a Mend Pet to keep my pet’s health up, and backed up behind the trap. When Larry became attackable, I shot at him to claim aggro and had him run into the trap. I then helped my pet kill the two adds as quickly as possible and re-Mended him.

Larry came out of the ice as we were finishing off the second guy. He was tough even without his cronies, so I had some issues with keeping my pet’s health up with Mend Pet. I had to claim aggro when Larry was at around 35% health. He hit me five times and took off about 80% HP from me in total, so I had to chug a healing potion and Feign Death shortly after. Fortunately, at this point my pet’s HP was sufficiently up, and we managed to complete the encounter without further issues.

Soloing the encounter was doable, but tough. I suggest bringing along a buddy. Best of luck!

Finding somebody else to help with this is a serious challenge on some realms, partly because the quest has a reputation of having been a little cranky in the past. Lots of rumors about finishing it but not getting completion credit. I don't suppose many people do it anymore as it's not really critical. I've tried to solo it on a number of level mid-60s & a 70 with little luck. Came back once with my 80 feral at one point and left nothing but blood spatters (ferals are omnivorous and it was close to lunch...) but that was strictly to re-balance the scales. Unless you're a completionist, these days your best bet is to wave at him and move on.

Besides, Auchindoun is now defunct. We have no use for the book. If you find it, you can keep it.

Like I said, I saw some of those ruffians snooping around the terrace last week. Start your search with them. They're probably playing dice in the slums.
