I found him right outside Falcon Watch.

WARNING: He doesn't have a ? over his head, so you have to look at his name. Go up to him and talk to him, and after you talk he'll dismount and attack you.

Once you get him to 20% (it's an easy fight), he'll give you the next quest in the chain.

He's walking from zangarmarsh to Falkon Watch , so he can be anywhere on that road , just follow that road and you'll find him.

I found him right at the edge of the zone between Hellfire and Zangarmarsh at Thornfang Hill. If you're a warlock, this is what I did, and in my opinion, the quickest way to get him to 20%: I threw a couple of DoTs and Curse of the Elements on him, let my Voidwalker beat him up a bit, then used Soul Fire.
I talked to him, got the quest... then a 70 draenai mage came out of nowhere and killed me.
So be careful if you're on a PvE server.

yea i found him right outside of falcon watch he is riding purple hawk strider and he covers a bit of ground but very easy quest though

60 Lock, A simple Deathcoil/Fear - Dot chain did it, not even a scratch.
However my fingers ache a bit after casting those exhausting spells.

Found him right as i got Zmarsh, thought I must have missed him at first. He walks pretty darn slow, but worth the wait for a few mins, if you don't have to fight off any of the mobs over there. He uses frost Nova.

Attacking him for the quest flags you for pvp combat for some reason.

30% is not correct. I got him below 30% and he kept fighting. Down to 10% and still fighting, but I died before I could finish.

if you time it right, after someone else flags and battles him, (without you touching him) he has yellow question mark, step up and complete the quest without even unmounting. :-)

He can die, but not from horde, some allies killed him right as i ran up to him, made me mad X.x

DPS classes might want to be a bit careful here - if they're not they might accidentally kill the guy.

The first time around I tried just holding him off for a while because I wasn't sure I wanted to kill someone on my side, and it got me killed.

So I checked on here, discovered he just surrendered eventually, and went all out for revenge. I did him fractionally short of 5000hp of damage & judging by the barest sliver of red left on his health bar, that's about how many hp he's got in the first place.

Given that 30% of 5000 is 1500, it'd definitely be plausible for a DPS class to accidentally kill him (my final shot crit'ed for 1780 and there are plenty of characters who could do much more). I dunno what accidentally killing him'd do for your rep, or possibly even the quest progression, but it's probably not worth finding out.

Yes, he does flag you, but he surrenders quite easily.Just don't run, he'll hit you with a rather nasty pyroblast. I watched someone run from him earlier,and die shortly after.

In case you get confused he's the one riding the blood elf mount, i thought he was a gaurd at first. so just patrol the road between falcon watch and zangarmarsh until you run into him. gl.

I guess I must have killed him
we were fighting and he said he surrendered.... and thats it.
he regained his health but never gave me a gold ? and eventually he just disappeared.

if u r hunter lock etc use ur pet its the best way as u can heal while its fighting him :D

Dismount before going through the quest with the NPC. You go into combat which his surrenders before dying. Not hard at all.

You won't have to worry about whether he's up or not, since doing the quest entails fighting but not killing him. I found him close to falcon watch on the road.

I guess I was under the impression that Hellfire in general was contested territory, wouldn't that automatically flag you for pvp?

I've never seen an allie that was yellow to me in Hellfire :/

Well, found him at the entrance to Zangarmarsh at 10,50. It is actually his friend, Magister Aledis, whom you talk to and he says he won't nag on a friend. The you fight him, and at about one third hp he stops and talks to you. Im a 62 Druid and he was easy, only about 10% dmg taken. He then tells you the name of the mistress. Right after this you just go back to the wife at Falcon Watch. On the way back, i saw him in front of the camp as well, so i think he roams all the way from falcon to Zanger just like the quest text says.

You can't fire the first shot/blow. The npc fires first and will surrender the minute he's down to 1/3 HP.

He patrols the road between falcon watch and zangamarsh, just head out of falcon watch and follow the road and you're bound to meet him. You'll have to fight him but he's easy.

To complete this quest you need to to interrogate Magister Aledis.

Magister Aledis can be found travelling there and back along the road from Falcon Watch to Zangarmarsh zone. He is blood elf riding hawkstrider and can be spotted from afar.
You need to talk to him and ask about arelion's secret. Magister Aledis immediately dismount and become hostile so you have to beat him down. And yes, he puts you into PVP.

quest was broken for myself on tbc classic. he never came off agro, and he can't be taken below 1% hp. ended up dying to a few pyros in a row.

second attempt he came off agro and the quest worked.

Magistrix Carinda wants you to interrogate Magister Aledis, last seen traveling from Falcon Watch to Zangarmarsh.

Arelion's journal does not deal with any sort of scholarly studies. It details his escapades with a young female blood elf! How could I've been such a fool?

Unfortunately, the floozy's identity is not revealed in this journal. Aledis, a colleague of Arelion's, was his best friend and confidant. Go question him and find out who he was having this affair with.

I saw Aledis leave Falcon Watch for Zangarmarsh. Follow the road headed north from town; it'll eventually lead west, toward Zangarmarsh.
