Only 1 Raw Farahlite drops per mob so its kinda painful to grind with group, I guess that item can be mined from giants.

Kiting these guys works well as they have no ranged attack. If you keep them moving, the spawning adds will not aggro.

Mages can use slow on these mobs.

Solo'd as a 70 feral druid, just got cat form and maim when needed....kill the adds before him, they interupt healing.

This was fun as a two person grind. Only one drops off of each elite mob, so we had to kill 8 of them. The mobs are very easily kiteable as I just did figure eights on the south-western side. I would shield, dot, VE and run. I have minor speed enchant on my boots. As they get weaker they get easier to out run as they shrink in size. When they shrank my rogue companion, Crisis, would tag the new spawn and take care of him. Once the mobs get to their smallest size they we easy to mindblast and mindflay. The VE kept the rogue in good shape and I got some well needed exercise.

I recommend kiting around the south-eastern part because there was one time i picked up an extra mob spawn and had to outrun to disengage. Thanks for the fun Crisis... good PUG!

Solo'd by a 70 mage. arc/frost. Very easy to kite. When adds spawn just throw a frost nova and flamestrike

It's best to hit the ones north of Stormspire. Just look for the big walking purple crystal dudes! :)

I say it's best there as the follow up quest is to get the Farahlite Core. It drops off Cragskaar(https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=20202). We found him in the same area pathing back and forth.

This was pretty easy, i'm a 70 lock demo spec'd and let my felguard do most of the damage while I DoT and when it comes back to me I fear so like dots,fear,dots,etc..and only 1 of those minions came to help towards the end through out 3 of the 4 ones, the last one 2 spawned. GL

easy soloable as a frost mage ;) just use Cone of Cold, Frost Nova and Frostbolts to slow them down ;)

Just to give faith to the melee I was able to solo as a Subt/sword Rogue. Make sure you pop evasion when you can and stun when you're not getting the benefit of this. Had to vanish after to avoid the adds and I realise the cooldown pain but you can do it.

Easily solo'able as a 70 afflic/destro lock, chain fear, dots and nukes. Just dot up, fear and ignore the adds that spawn occasionally, by the time their fear has worn off they will have died from your dots anyway.

Easy as Affliction as said many times. Chain fear,DoT and HoW the adds (most aff locks has it on instant cast).Took me less then 20min :D

Easy with Arcane/Fire Mage. Just pull them to the road and kite them there with spamming fireblast and ice lance. The ads will follow you for few sec but then they will run back.

Soloable as a prot spec pally. Throw up devotion aura. Blessing of Sanc or Wisdom (your choice), judge light and seal light again. Spam Holy Shield. Don't even worry about the adds until big boy is done. As with the other comment, if you stun at 75,50,25 you won't HAVE adds but they're nice for redoubt/reck procs and they don't do that much damage.

Had to pull out a few FoLs at the end but nothing major.

Also easily soloed by a 69 Affliction lock. Start out with your trinkets+Unstable affliction+Corruption+Siphon Life+Amplified Curse of Agony+Immolate if possible. When the amp. CoA runs out, use Curse of Exhaustion and recast all your dots. If you're in trouble, simply fear.

If you kite the giants like this, you will rarely aggro any of the adds.

Just use lifetap for mana, siphon life replenishes your health and you shouldn't be getting hit anyway.

Soloed with a level 70 Protection specced Paladin with average gear. This is how:

Used Improved Righteous Fury, Holy Shield and Blessing of Sanctuary.
Opened with Avenging Wrath so that Forbearance would have faded in case I needed to bubble. If you're with the Alliance, proccing the DoT from Seal of Vengenace while AW is active will cause it to keep the 30% bonus damage even after it expires.
Judged a Seal of Wisdom to regen mana, then used Seal of Vengenace for the rest of the fight.

When the big one died, I usually had 30-50% Health and ~10% mana left. The small ones were relatively easy to kill with a judged and an active Seal of Wisdom (they do around 100 damage to someone with 10k armor, which was fully blocked each time). Of course, it's not necessary to kill them, since they don't drop anything, and despawn shortly after leaving combat.

I've seen Hunters solo this as well, by just nuking them, spam healing their pets, then running out of range to Feign Death.

Easily soloable by a blue'ish geared hunter... these mobs are easy to kite, and the adds will despawn in the kiting, so you don't have to fear getting swarmed by them after killing the big guy.

Not sure if I'm missing something or maybe it's bugged now. I picked up the quest, went to northern spawn area, killed lvl 69 and 70, NO DROPS.
So I dropped quest, picked it up again and went to southern area.
Killed lvl 67,68...NO DROPS!
Not sure if Im just missing a simple step or what.
Im lvl 70 and soloing these as a druid.

Anybody else having trbl now?

I know it was stated several times in other forums that its a 100per drop rate.

No problem killing them solo as a feral druid, pre-heroics gear. Just go bear all the way, bash before 75, and before 25 (bash probably won't have cooled down by 50, just kill the shardling first).

Pretty easy solo as a marks spec'd Hunter (10/47/4) with blue gear. By making make sure that Mend Pet is always cast and unloading as much as possible without drawing aggro from my pet, I was able to take these guys down without wiping once. I tried to interrupt like was suggested, but could not get the timings right. Froze one shardling and let the rest beat on me until the main one was dead. From there, I cleaned up the spawned ones.

Couldn't imagine it would be much harder on any other class.

Combat Rogue
Stealthed in and hit em with cheap shot and used the 2 points for slice and dice. Hit adrenaline and then nail em with 5 points of exspose armor. Hit with one point of slice and dice along with blade furry for the adds. After that I just used Sinister strike for 3 point shots of eviscerate. Loot the body, vanish and the adds disapear. Started out with 7900 health and had about 2500 left at end of fight. Worked out pretty good.

Soloed as a lvl69 Fire Mage, in questing greens.

Blink+fire blast, occasional scorch/fireball.. Used a mana gem per elite.

Ran across the road just above the stormspire bubble heading west, was.. easy.

As a frost mage I kept walking while hitting him with a frostbolt/fireblast and ice lance to keep aggro. Get to the guards at the stormspire and let them take care of it. Go back and clean up the ads

Solo as 70lvl warlock (destro) with no problems... just fear, DoTs and Shadow Bolt, fear, ... :)) Got 100% drop rate. He is going to be small and each time (when he goes small) summons 67 non-elite mob.

Solo'd as a level 70 shadow priest. Mostly in S1/Vindicator gear with +800dmg. Requires some room to kite. Try to target the level 69 elites first as they're easier to kill.

1) Start up with a trinket buffed VT, SWP, VE, and flay.
2) Renew VT and flay until the first shardling spawns.
3) Psychic Scream both the elite and shardling away. SWP/VE the shardling then renew dots on the elite. Keep inner fire and PWS up as you cycle through.
4) Repeat with each additional shardling. Renew SWP on shardlings as required. The VE ticks from each shardling are more than enough to keep you alive.
5) Usually finish up a fight at 100% health and about 20% mana.

Ran out of level 69 elite giants so the last one I took out was level 70. I used my fiend and finished the fight at 80% mana. No sweat.

Hehe, solo'd by a 100% PvE healing spec Priest (0 points shadow) by SW:P kiting them back to Area 52 and fearing them every time they caught up. When the guards netted them, smitespam!

Took a while, but I couldn't find anybody to group with and I couldn't kill them any other way.

Solo'd as a 70 fire mage. From max distance I'd prep a pyroblast, and as it was on its way to the target I fired off a fireball. I'd usually have time to send one last fireball or scorch before they got too close, and then I'd fireblast. From there, I'd frost nova, turn around and blink, and run for a second before lobbing fireballs again. At worst, I'd have to repeat minus the blink (running instead, as blink would be on cooldown); however of the four kills, during three I found ignite + Impact stuns were enough to finish them off without a second retreat.

It also helped to have Combustion going before starting, just for the extra damage it would give.

As far as the shards went, usually I was far enough for them not to aggro, and failing that, Blast Wave/Dragon's Breath did the trick.

as a balance druid i was able to solo this by keeping the elite rooted and killing the adds as they spawned. no need for pots/bandages or treants.

The trick to solo as a lock is to use your VW at the correct place. Get your void up and start from 39.68, right next to the edge of the cliff. Send your void in, bang away on the giant and focus on the original when he shrinks and creates the adds. He's not fearable until he breaks up so then use HoT but concentrate your void and firepower on the original one. Here's the trick tho, when you kill the original, forget the others and use voidsac and then jump off the cliff behind you onto the ledge then down onto the ground, the drop is not suicide. Run away, combat quickly drops then fly back in and pick up your shard, rinse-repeat three more times, easy.

Great post by Lemmingfire (Thanks!)- the Farahlon Giants in Arklonis Ridge are easily soloable (even by a 70 prot. pally)and they do drop Farahlite. The only thing I would add is that Arklonis Ridge is actually south/south of Area 52, just north of the Arklon ruins.

Tbh .. it's solo able for either frost mage or arcane fire/frost spec'ed mage.. i only had to wait for my cd's + mana emerald and i could just kite him and if u kited him far enough i experienced that the adds somehow stopped .. gl :)

Soloed as Marksman hunter.

These things run so slow it isn't funny.

Just run a long the paths that are beside the giants and kite one. Freeze it when you want to turn around.

Don't worry about the shardlings too much, they don't actually aggro until you walk near them. But they run the same speed as the giant itself so it's not even a big deal, except for the turning around.

Using this method you can solo up to the 70 giants.

insanely easy to kite to the stormspire guards, with cheeta you even have enough time to steady shot and continue on your way, make sure that you clear the path of the shardlings before you do another

The quest description tells you that the targets that drop the Raw Farahlite are to the northeast of the Stormspire, but there's a much easier way to accumulate the 4 pieces rather than fighting the 69/70 elite mobs up there at Netherstone.

Down south, just west-southwest of Area 52, is Arklon Ridge. On said ridge are Farahlite Giants, ranging from levels 67 to 68 elites and very easily solo-able.

And yes they do drop the Raw Farahlite needed for the quest.

This quest is hard as a arc/fire mage due to the adds and fact that u cant slow them down as well as a frost spec'd mage or u cant fear them like locks/shad priest... bring help if u are 40/21 spec mage.

I soloed this as a lvl 70 holy paladin with healing gear (blues). I've never been that good at soloing group quests but found that doing this one was not too bad. I made sure to get a lvl 67 elite mob and healed often. I used a major mana potion on one of them and didn't worry about the adds, just kept dpsing the main. When he went down I did a quick loot and ran until the adds gave up. I never had to use LOH.

Soloed as a lvl 70 Holy Pally. Used Seal of Wisdom and Judgement of Wisdom. Don't worry about the adds. Hit the Elite with Holy Shock as often as possible and heal with Holy Light when needed. Loot, and run from adds. Never used a potion or Lay on Hands. Took some time, but very soloable. 38,66

Soloed as 70 shadow priest. Just kite them as said below. Dot heavily and fear/shield. Keep moving. I used my shadowfiend every pull.

Here's what I did to solo this as a lock.

I enslaved Silroth (68 Elite) up at Forge Base: Gehenna, took him down to the rock guys and owned them, rofl...
You can get 2 of them with 1 Silroth, he'll die on the 2nd rock guy but than just dot him and run till he dies. They run very slowly.

Did the same thing for the quest after this. Cake.

Solo'd this as a 70 beastmaster hunter. I just made sure to keep my pet's health up and to pull the crumblers off him and into an explosive trap.

I definitely agree with the other posters here: go for the lower level giants just outside Area 52.

TBC Classic

Easily soloed on a Feral druid in dungeon blues. The trick is to FOCUS THE ADDS. They do just as much damage as the main guy, so if you ignore them, you'll get wrecked. One will spawn at every 25% (75, 50, 25) so just target it and spam swipe until it's dead.

If you get low on health, kill any remaining adds then stun the big guy and regrowth+rejuv.

To the northeast is an area called the Netherstone, a landmark not seen when this was a lush, green land. Newly-exposed crystal formations have shown us a mineral we've called farahlite in honor of this land's former identity.

The tiny amount of farahlite we've mined has already proven popular with our clients. The highest grade of the mineral comes not from static deposits, but from the giants around the Netherstone. I can offer you a cut of the profits if you'll help supply the higher grade farahlite.
