Do not be alarmed that the damaged Fel Reaver is elite, it does not fight back as you try to kill it. There are however several adds, so a group of 2-3 at least is suggested to deal with them.

Solod this quest as a lvl 69 darkpact warlock.

Dotted the robot, put siphon life + cos on the adds, ran around in a circle, when there was enough adds I aoe feared em and shadowbolted the robot. When they came back i used coex to keep em off me until i got the cd back on aoefear.

always keep the robot dotted or u might just run around there for the rest of your life.

Easily Soloable by a Feral Druid, Level 69. Ignore the adds completely and you should be fine. I finished it with over half life left, looted and ran off still in bear form.

Still bugged as of 10/02/2007, is in the patch notes for PTR 2.0.7 however, so should be fixed with that patch.

It also seems to reset properly when the server gets restarted or after maintainence.

Oh and the whole running away method didn't work at all for me on Barthilias.

Soloed this as a Marksmanship Hunter at level 70.

Just stand at max range of the reaver, after you started the "event", and when ze ambushers come, send your pet after them, make sure he has aggro on them all, otherwise it will be tricky to heal.

The quest is still broken. I can target the Fel reaver using /target, but when I try to Zap it I get the error "you need to target something first". I put in another /bug.

As of today, the quest was working. A quick DPS on the Fel Reaver prevented many spawns from appearing. When the fel Reaver died, so did all the spawns.

Target scrapped fell reaver with /target, however its invisible, and if I try to use zapper on it and get the same 'you have no target'.

As of today (030207), the quest is fixed (at least I could make it). This quest is not as bad as people make it seem.

The elite remains in the ground and the mobs come one by one. The mobs are all normal mobs, I did the quest with a rogue (I'm a feral druid), I was tanking the adds while the rogue was in the elite, and let me tell you, after doing the quest I could have probably been all the time on the boss with the rogue and it would have ended much faster.

The adds are time based, and the timer is pretty long (maybe 15 seconds?). The elite also dies pretty fast. Easy quest, don't worry for healing, two dps is fine ^^

Was able to solo this as a fury warrior by just focusing all dps on the scrapped fel reaver and ignoring the adds until there were 4 and then just feared them. DPS will have to be fairly high to be able to kill it quick enough, but at least there is one group quest that a warrior can solo...

Soloed as a 67 combat rogue. Opened up with adren rush, ignored first add. Blinded 2nd add and popped evasion on the third. Went down without much trouble. (adds dissapear when it dies)

As a 69 Protection Paladin I was able to fairly easily solo this quest. I went full defensive/aoe grind mode. Put on seal of wisdom and just melee the adds down. They come for a long while, but they eventually stop. Heal yourself whenever you get low. Once they stop, just kill the reaver (very slow process at that point for me...)

Just solo'd this quest as an affliction warlock (though any warlock can probably solo this) and as of Apr 7/07, the quest is working (at least on my server, Feathermoon). Start the quest, dot up the Fel Reaver and then just sit back and take care of any mobs that pop up. I had my voidwalker tanking the Zaxxis adds while I dotted them. Good luck to everyone on this quest!

Solo'd as a 70 frost mage (19/0/42). The first time I died with the reaver only having about 800 health left. The second time I died way earlier because I used my only health pot the first time.

The third time, I didn't actually have to use any pots, or even cooldowns (besides water elemental). When the first guy came, I backed up to the tent where the questgiver is and threw my water elemental on the mob, then went to continue DPS on the reaver.

When my elemental was at about 25% health and I figured he would lose the battle alone, I helped him finish off that first mob, then continued DPS on the reaver, with him helping. Second mob comes, I sheep him. Continued DPS. Third mob comes, put water elemental on him.

By the time the fourth came, the reaver was pretty low, maybe around 20% max, and I was near full health. Right behind the fourth came the fifth, sixth and seventh mobs, so I just kept ice barrier'ing and frost nova'ing to give me time to finish off the reaver.

Not sure why the successful time was so much easier than the unsuccessful ones, but it might have something to do with backing up to the tent; I think it stalled some of the adds.

As a side note, if you leave combat at all on this quest, the reaver disappears.

For you solo Horde protection palys, start the quest and when the adds come, focus on them. Alternate using SoL/SoW and JoL/JoW to keep your health and mana up without healing. The adds WILL stop eventually and you can go to town on the reaver. I recommend you equip a 2Her, SoB/JotC, judging and resealing whenever you can. Your yellow hits will always be crits, and so will your judgements (SoB doesn't benefit from spell damage but JoB does). Anything to make it go faster because you'll be swinging for a little while.

Extremely easy for a hunter. Just get an Owl, put it on Defensive and have it right by your side. The adds will come for you, but get hit by the owls screech. You can just ignore the adds while your pet tanks them. Full out DPS the Fel Reaver and it should die well before your pet does. Once the Fel Reaver is dead, the adds despawn.

If you're having trouble solo'ing this and you are a ranged class, it might help to notice the rock formation near the fel reaver. If the camp is behind you and you face the fel reaver there is a rock formation that looks like a crab's claw on the right side. Land on it with your flying mount and start DPS'ing it from there. Once it gets to about 65% jump down so you don't leave combat, that should give you more of a headstart.

Solo'd this as a lvl 69 hunter. The quest however bugged out...in a good way though. After i activated the felreaver, i started shooting at it. and all my hits critted?!! During the time three lvl 68-69 non-elites spawns, and attacks u. My pet took care of the first one, the second one got a freezing trap, and my pet took the third one aswell. When the felreaver was dead the attackers despawned.

This was the easiest group quest ever. Although ppl with cloth or ppl who dont have range attack, this quest could be a little hard.

A holy/prot paladin with some decent tanking gear can solo this easily. You can tank the adds, and if you're specced spiritual focus, just put on conc aura and heal through the damage the adds do. I finished on about 50% health and mana (8k hp and mana).

You should also judge wisdom on the fel reaver and just chop away at it with a dmg seal, I used seal of vengeance.

Once the fel reaver dies, the adds despawn.

Easiest quest I've ever done...
Level 70 Arms Warrior.

There were only two adds that hit me for 150 damage each, so I just tanked them and let them feed me rage to kill the Fel Reaver. The adds despawned after I killed the Fel Reaver.

Everyone can do this, even if you are holy priest.
Start the event, get on your flying mount, wait until the ads gets away (it takes some time, so be patient)
When they are gone, you can land and start killing the fel reaver and no ads will come. When he is dead you can loot and turn in the quest =)

I had a 68 paladin and myself (70 rogue) that did this no problem. Paladin tanked the adds while I DPS'd the reaver. He didn't even have to bubble. Easy mode.

Also, the reaver was spawned and targetable for me around midnight on 4/28/07.

Very easy as level 70 Protection Warrior. Just make sure you have all the adds infront of you while you keep using Shield Slam and hit the Fel Reaver. Due to my trinkets I didn't lose any health at all (Dabiri's Enigma + Figurine of the Colossus).

Quite easy to solo as a lvl 70 hunter (mm 8/45/8), just let your pet take care of the first add then freeze trap the second and at the time the third arrives the fel reaver is dead.

Was able to solo this quest as a BM/Marks Hunter with ease. What I did was initiate combat via melee (would not let me fire at it initially) then immediately back up to max ranged. I got one initial ambusher to jump me, which I put my pet on (Boar, 70th, Max Armor rating). He took a while to kill the ambusher, but during the fight no other ambusers spawned to assist. So I was able to take the reaver down to 40% on auto shot alone.

Once my pet killed the ambusher, another one spawned and ran to the middle of the area where the Fel Reaver was laying, but did not aggro me. I put my pet on him just in case, and finished off the Reaver before the second ambusher was dead.

This quest is probably the easiest I've ever done, I simply started the fel reaver, flew up on top of the rocks beside him and blasted away at him. No evades, no adds, simple as blasting away at him. If you are level 70 and have your mount, I would suggest this method, as it is the easiest and quickest 11 gold I've recieved.

Solo'd as a Arms/Fury Warrior. Just concentrated on the Fel Reaver, who oddly, takes alot of crits all the time from special moves (Slam/Execute/MS). Adds that did come along got ignored until there was a about 4 or so, popped retaliation and they went down quite fast. Last few adds were feared with Intim Shout. Took one Super healing Potion towards the end.

Tried to solo as 70 shadow priest ~600dmg. Got down to 11k hp and just ran out of mana, after potting, shadowfield, consume magic. dropped a fear and ran away...

I'd start with PWS then dots+Mind blast+mind flay. When the first add comes I'd fear, reshield immediately and continue nuking. Rinse and repeat when a new add arrives. This worked fine until about 4-5 of them overwhelmed me..

The rock trick lets me dps for a while but then the body just disappears/despawns. I'd say the best option is to figure out how much time you have exactly before the body despawns and try to drink up a bit before jumping down to continue nuking. As a spriest I suppose I should throw in more SWD also.... will try again tomorrow.

soloed as 70 frost mage. sheeped the first add and nuked the mob. summoned elemental after about 10 frostbolts, kept elemental on the mob. killed first add. sheeped second add continued nuking with me + ele. cold snapped ele back out when I had 3 adds, just kept them nova'd as long as poss, fel reaver was almost dead by now, ended up with 6 adds on me, spamming ice lance as fel reaver was on 2%, got it just in time.

just did it as 70 BM hunter with mount, used gasdar's tip to fly and shot from the rock above it, please note however, it is better for locks or hunters-because apparently the mob will despawn if the adds cant attack...
i set my pet to stationed below me and attack from the ground-ignored the adds while i kept mend pet and attacking the reaver too... was quite easy... alot of critics done...

Wow, this was a really close fight as a 70 lock, did it on my fourth try.

So, I bring out felguard, turn on cleave, and load up the fel reaver with dots. By the time I start casting my first shadow bolt, the first Zaxxis spawns and starts attacking. I fear, blow my trinket, refresh dots, and continue nuking.

I do this for a while, until my felguard has 2 on him, and another spawns on me, so I have it intercept him, and i can continue pounding away. I blow a manapot and lifetap twice, (1300 lifetaps) and run around the fel reaver, as my felguard dies. So, i kited all the z's for about 10-15 secs, and my dots just barely killed him with me at 2k health or so.

If you jump through the rocks, you can kite the adds for a while longer, but even so, I can't imagine doing this without instant dots or a pet.

Just did it with my 70 balance druid in quest rewards gear, here's how I did it:

I stood on the crab pincer rock that geminidelsol talked about and started DPSing the fel reaver with insect swarm, moonfire and spamming starfire instead of wrath to save some mana. When it was down to around 60%-70% I summoned treants and continued using starfire and my DoTs (used innervate when I was around half mana). At around 35% my treants were almost over so I jumped down the rock moonfired a zaxis that was almost dead and focused on the Fel reaver with wrath and DoTs. Hope this helps other moonkins solo it. :D

Soloed as a 69lvl fury war.

Just dps Fel Reaver, without battle potions, Reckleness or any other things... 3 adds spawned, fear them, then ignore. Had to use healing potion and last stand.

This can be solo'd by anyone.

First, obtain the quest.

Second, run over to the fel reaver and shock it to start the event.

Third, after you start the event run over to the tent where you obtained the quest

Fourth, just sit and wait. If you get into combat and get out from either attacking the fel reaver or the adds, the fel reaver will despawn and you will have to restart.

Finally after about a few minutes the adds do respawn but the fel reaver is attackable. You can then attack the fel reaver without any adds coming.

69 fury warrior: soloed by waiting the ambushers to despawn. It took more than 5 minutes. It's risky, because anyone who aggroes the ambushers _will_ reset the event and despawn the fel reaver. Thus it took me 35-40 minutes total, I don't recommend soloing this at peak time when lots of people wander around, not worth the time.
The zerg tactic just didn't work, I couldn't kill it faster then I died, altough I used health pot, fear+bandage and fel blossom aswell. I blame my shitty green gear :D

Soloed this as a prot palain (00/49/12). It was mind-numbingly boring, but I didn't abuse the adds.

What I did was put judgement of light on the fel reaver and seal light, then use holy shield continuously to kill the adds- basically, AoE grinding them.

At about 40% (about 8-10 minutes) the adds stopped spawning.

I'd recommend bringing someone who can do some damage if you're going to do this, as it wasn't a challenge- just really slow and boring.

This quest is simple with a warrior and hunter.

The warrior tanking the spawns, while I(the hunter) burned through its health.

The adds didn't attack me or my pet.

Very soloable for a level 70 feral druid. Just throw on your tanking gear, start the event and go bear. Just keep the reaver targetted and throw mangle whenever it's up. Once the adds start coming in, keep demo roar on them and swipe spam when mangle is on cooldown. With decent tanking gear, the incoming damage will be low and the crits off of your swipe spam will keep you in rage to start queueing maul continuously. You might have to throw a frenzied regen, but it's unlikely. The mobs despawn after you kill the reaver.

Soloed as a 70 Draenei frost mage with quested gear. Sheeped the first add and summoned the elemental immediately, did my best to burn down the Fel Reaver while keeping the adds controlled (which sometimes meant having them chase me while the elemental beat on the reaver, and sometimes me killing an add or two to avoid getting overwhelmed). It took pretty much every single cooldown I had - mana gems, mana potions, healing potions, Gift of the Naaru, bandages, elemental, cold snap, frost nova, ice barrier, etcetera, etcetera. Was very close at times, and took quite some time (going by cooldowns: elemental, cold snap, elemental, elemental twice more and by the end I could've used cold snap again if I'd needed to).

Could most likely have been done more elegantly, but it felt incredibly satisfying.

I did it today, zap the Fel Reaver, summon your flying mount and wait over him for the adds to despaw, then start killing the fel reaver and no ads will come (as said by Jamzo).

Soloed as a 70 Hunter. This is very easy : use the item on the reaver and focus it. Under 15%, you may have more than 5 mobs attacking you, so just heal your pet, feign death and kill the reaver : all the mobs will disappear after the reaver's death.

Just FYI - anyone can solo this quest. Don't skip it just cause it says (group), it's honestly one of the easiest quests I've done.

EDIT: Maybe I should note that only two adds spawned for me throughout the fight.

Soloed EVILLY as a 67 Undead Priest. I came and got the quest, then read many comments here on Wowhead. I then noticed that two 70 Alliance players had already started the event and were killing endless adds, but they hadn't touched the Fel Reaver. I snuck around (they seemed too busy to notice me) to the back of the Fel Reaver and put a dot on it, tagging it. I waited around until their adds stopped spawning and they realized they had to kill the Fel Reaver. They didn't seem to notice that it had been tagged by somebody else, so they started killing it. When it was gone, I ran in, looted it, shielded, and started running away. Their warrior charged me and they both killed me, but it was all worth it! *Forsaken laugh.* Mwuahahahaha!

Unscarred and Nalania (Lightning's Blade), if you're reading this: I deserved to be camped for that. Thanks for the exp though!

Kept Moonfire and Insect Swarm up.

Hurricane'd per cooldown.

Took me 7 minutes because I had to wait for Innervate to come back up before I was comfortable hurricaning again.

THEN I realized I was supposed to be attacking the reaver...

Done as feral druid lvl 70, full dps gear and bear form. Just focus on the fel reaver, swipe the adds to gain rage, and keep demoralizing roar on them to reduce their damage.

The weird thing is that all hits on the scrapped fel reaver critted, literally 100% crit rate on him. No idea why this was, but it worked nicely with improved Leader of the Pack.

I just let ALL of the adds poke at me while I kept going at the reaver, they died eventually.

However, I did need to make a sandwhich mid-fight, as it takes a LONG time for a prot pally to do 50k damage.

Tried this quest 27/01/08, failed it:
* Started with shocking the Fel Reaver, flying on the rock beside it and nuke - adds and Fel Reaver despawned after about 1 minute.
* Shocked the Fel Reaver when up on the stone - same result as above.
* Shocked the Fel Reaver, flew up and waited - same result as the two scenarios above.
* Strapped on my tanking gear, used Demo Shout to handle the adds, mangle etc - quest completed.

Seems like Blizzard fixed the quest.

Easy to solo as a 70 enhance shaman. Drop healing stream, GoA, and when the adds start to come drop Earth Elemental to take care of the adds. Only had to give the elemental about 2 heals while I dps'ed the fel reaver.

Easily doable as a hunter with the old FD trick.

Zap him, send your pet in, start your shooting. The 100% crits are not a bug; anything that sits or lies down will be crit automatically when you hit it. Adds will spawn and whack away at your pet. When she's at about half health toss her a Mend; adds will come for you after a short while. Let them hit you for a bit, Feign Death, and the adds will be back on your pet (who should be back to full health now).

Rinse and repeat when your FD cooldown is up, all the while you're critting away at that Reaver. Job done, congrats.

Soloable as a newly 70 enh shaman. (Crappy green and blue gear) My dps took care of the reaver, Fire elementals dps took care of the adds. Had to heal elemental once. Popped bloodlust halfway through.

As 70 mage whit some epic gear you can just take the adds, no need to bug it. Shatter helps alot to 2-3 shot a mob. Don't need 2 people realy.

Soloable (though not exactly easy) as a level 70 combat-specced rogue (mostly SSC/TK gear); I started the event, began killing the fel reaver and waited until I had about 4-5 adds on me. Then I went all out, popping Adrenaline Rush and Blade Flurry, thus both taking a good chunk out of the fel reaver's health and killing all the adds.

After a while, you might have too many adds on you, at which point it's very useful to use Evasion/a potion.

Don't bother single-targetting the adds; either kill them with Blade Flurry or just leave them alone (they'll despawn when the fel reaver is dead).

I was able to solo this very easily as a level 70 Protection Warrior in my PVP gear (which consists of the blue 2.4 'Savage Plate' set... neither gemmed nor enchanted.) I used two 1H weapons and ignored the adds, just beat on the Fel Reaver in Battle Stance. Once there were three adds I feared them, and once I was in Execute range I just spammed that.

No sweat. =)

Start off with water elemental and burn him down with frostbolts, then when the adds start coming in full force, frost nova, move to the side, frostbolt some more, then when frost nova breaks, summon water elemental again, have him target the fel reaver while you run around kiting the adds while icelancing the fel reaver. Use gem, evo for abit more mana and down he goes.

As of 2.4.2 the fel reaver disappears if you run/fly away or if you stand on the rock.
So, if the adds reset in any way, you can't complete the quest. Better off getting a friend if you can't solo it!

lv 67 hunter + pet special tactics:
nuke the reaver, use some traps and FD from time to time... be creative, but don't try to kill the ambushers!

Confirmed druid flight form works. Just went into flight form and waited 5 min for the spawn to go away. Then just killed it "boss" (He don't fight back). Did this in patch 2.4.2

not quite sure but my guess its this is a bug, i started attacking as a 70 BM hunt and my pet and i got crit hits all the time! (12/06/08) and i only got 2 adds wich i tanked... lowered me to 56% they hit really low, im geared with blues for pvp and only recived hits of 190 top mostly 70

I don't know if its bugged as of patch 2.4.2 but i didn't have a single add, i killed it in like a minute and had no add whatsoever, if anyone can confirm this please do. I am a 69 BM hunter.

Just Pop an Earth Elemental or Fire Elemental and do good dmg, the elemental could need a heal somewhen, just casted Earth Shield on it, with this tactic it was pretty easy.

Soloed as a 69 elemental Shaman. Used stoneclaw totem when first guy showed up, and then when that was gone dropped earth elemental totem. When elemental totem ran out, dropped stoneclaw again, and that was enough time to complete the quest.

1st Attempt:
Burned ALL cooldowns right at the start...definately should have waited for that. =p I got him down to around 20% before I had to vanish.

2nd Attempt:
Burned Evasion and Blade Flurry a bit later (in an effort to hopefully kill an add or two)...seemed to help, but still only got it to 6000/40000. So close. >_<

This quest is soloable. Don't attack the plunderers, just attack the immobile Fel Reaver. When it's dead and you loot the corpse (which looks the same), the plunderers should fade away.

Not bugged 13/02/07. Solo'd as a feral druid lvl 68.

The Fel Reaver is a 70 elite, but does not attack. (or move for that matter.)

When activated a level 67 Zaxxis ambusher comes to attack.

After around 30 seconds another Zaxxis ambusher appears, this continues until you have 6 attacking you.

I died doing this quest but only after I looted the quest item.

Not easy, but druids are fortunate to have plenty of healing power and armor.

My druid in bear form has 12425 armor and 10105 health points, I dont think this quest will be easy for many other classes to solo at this level.

as always hunters have it easy. the fel reaver doesn't seem to attack or do anything to my pet. adds are only problem. healing pet will cause them to pound on you. I let them do that for a bit then put pet on them, then returned pet to fel reaver when I continued to pound on fel reaver. With everything critting pet always had focus, and kill command was up after every cooldown. Easy really.

Yeah, couldn't find the heart. Talked to about 3 other people and they couldn't either... I don't know if we were just being dumb, or if it's bugged. I personally think it's bugged... I looked all over the coordinate location and on every piece of fel reaver debris and could not find it.

Lvl70 Feral/Resto druid, NS is much more useful than Mangle to me ;)

First time, I went for the ethereals, thinking I had to clear them beforehand... Died after about 20.

Second time, I stuck on my tanking gear to absorb the damage from the ethereals and just laid into the Reaver. Because it's prone, every attack crits, which means I keep healing myself thanks to LotP. Had to NS-heal once, and Frenzied Regen once, but I survived with 2k HP remaining.

with the previous posts, i was doubtful that i could solo this, but i decided to try. 70 MM hunter, with average gear. zapped the reaver, then stood back and started firing away, had the pet aggro all the adds, and all i did was stand there and shoot the reaver, and heal the pet when he got to half life. did it no problem, and no pots, just ravager dog food buff and trueshot and viper aspect. took like 2 min, and my pet didnt even die... easy peasy

Soloed as a 70 feral druid,it was hard but in the end killed it.Just focuse on him and don't mind the ethereals which are not only six but multiple six :).
Be prepared with potiones (strength,agility.......),your trinket bar at sight and go for it!Healed just once with potion and some kind of health stone.I used swipe and mangle bear only.Don't waste time with the others.Also used barskin and frenzied.If u have Omen of Clarity then it would be easier.Oh,almost forgot,managed the third time!

This quest is bugged and has been confirmed by a GM.. "the Scrapped Fel Reaver appears to fall under the ground making the Scrapped Fel Reaver impossible to loot." thats what the GM told me..

89 hunter darksorrow - eu.
Just did it twice.
First time solod, with some rogue watching, then the rogue wanted me to help him, so I did.
Both times, i'm not sure if its a bug, or its a debuff, but I had 100% crit. Seriously, i'm not talking about alot of crits, i'm talking, every shot was a crit, honestly. Auto, multi, steady, arcane, silence, all crits, 100% both times.

For the solo I just gave the thing everything I had 200ap trinket, rapid fire, berserking (troll racial).
The thing itself does not fight back at all, just lies there, it's the adds which come from nowhere, like maybe 1 every 10 seconds, just like the mobs around that area, they spawn and attack you. So I just fled after I killed it, FD mounted and left combat.

Did it just 10 mins ago, March 10th. Got the quest, walked over to it, zapped it, and then attacked.

All my hits were crits, had my pet running around with all the adds. They despawn when the Fel Reaver dies.

Easiest 16g (11g at 70 + the plate chest that sells for 4-5g) I've ever made.

Easiest way to do this on a hunter, assuming you have a flying mount:

Start the event.
Hit your flying mount,fly to the rock near the reaver, and Dismount.
Use Eyes of The Beast, direct your pet down to the reaver.
Turn your pet on Aggressive and Stay.
Right click the buff to turn it off.
Make sure you keep Mend Pet on, wail away on the Reaver.

Done.

Dragonblight server... successfully completed the quest on 2/7/07 so no longer bugged (or someone hadn't totally failed to screw it up). Also when doing the quest... IGNORE THE ADDS and just kill the fel reaver who doesnt attack you loot the heart and run.

well, close to the quest giver is the fel reaver, 26,78, more a less, but the heart is stealth, so, there you will have to make /target Scrapped Fel Reaver and then use the item on him....

It's easy. Use the item on the body. Attack it and attack it fast until it dies. Grab the loot.

It's so incredibly easy, just take out the adds when they come at you and dps the fell reaver like hell.

It's not easily to solo for everyone, but yea the best strategy is to burn down the reaver quick and just try to survive until it's down, then the ethereals instantly despawn.

As demonology warlock I did it my 3rd attempt by completely ignoring spawns. Felguard attacking reaver, and me using a chain of Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Incinerate, Drain Life. If you play warlock keep all the DOTs on him and the drain life should keep you alive long enough if you have Fel Concentration talent. If not, you may have trouble.

Just solo'd as a 70 Destruction Warlock. The first time I tried, I went OOM and my Voidwalker died. Second time, I used my Infernal, let him handle all the adds, and DPS'd the Fel Reaver down. With everything critting (3k shadowbolts every few seconds) and a DoT rotation, it wasn't too hard. I didn't need to pot or healthstone, and when the adds despawned my Infernal was at 14% - a conveniently low number to release and kill him at. Hope that's helpful.

Solo'd at 68, extremely easily. Plop down all the essencial totems, and then earth ele. Stand next to the ele and he'll take care of the adds. continue to kill reaver. adds despawn after u kill him.

Solo as a 70 shadow priest with the help of a mana pot.

teased the adds with fear and a shield to keep channeling mind flay. DoT and popping spell damage trinkets. barely did it.

Even with the /target scrapped Once it's targetted, I couldn't use the item on it.. saying I had no target. I stood directly on top of it even, and couldn't activate it.

This is probably the easiest quest i've done at 70, soloed super easy with 70 rogue, pick off the etherials before the fight then jump in and wack away at the reaver, he doesnt come to life which i thought he would, only had one etherial respawn, easily taken out with blade flurry

Level 70 Feral Druid, wasn't too much trouble. Mangle, Maul, Swipe. Didn't have to pop out to heal or Frenzied Regeneration. I did notice, as someone before me said, that every hit on the Fel Reaver was a crit, so Improved Leader of the Pack helped me out all I needed with heals.

I did this solo at 70 as a 42/19 arcane/fire mage, so I took him down pretty fast and no spawns added. Quest worked fine. I guess the adds are on a timer not linked to his health, so dps him down asap and no worries.

Very soloable as a lvl 70 hunter.
I stood between it's "feet" and the rock for the duration of the battle, and got only like 4-5 Ethereals on me. Or rather, on my pet. I just needed to heal it once, and I was done. Easy pickings.

Soloed this with a level 70 hunter. Not too hard. Took a long time, but it didn't do much damage. Healed my pet a few times and finished with over 60% health.

*Note* the mobs are now (if they weren't before) continuous. They wont stop coming so you need some form of CC to get rid of mobs so you can kill the immobile reaver. Once reaver is dead the adds despawn

Here's how I solo'd it, hopefully it'll help some of you mages...

I just kept the dps on him and conserved as much mana as I could. When the spawns came at me one at a time I could quickly burn them down. when he was at about 40% health I was nearly out of mana and almost dead (I had 2 spawn on me at this time). I used frost nova, backed away (but not too far) and used invisibility.

I figured he'd reset, but he didn't (must be bugged) so i ate/drank and waited for the two spawns to leave and then opened up on him again, the next group i saw coming was 8-10 spawns (I guess) so i opened up with everything i had left and managed to finish him off while i had 56 health left....

Therefore it is possible... but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a lot of luck. I hope this helps some mage out there.

I killed 3 or 4 sets of like 6-8 mobs(etherals), after i killed all those i went to town killing the non-attacking reaver.... was simple and i didnt have to worry about them while i was killing him which was nice.

just start it, kill them, then kill him, easy

I've just gotten wtf pwned twice on this quest, I dps the reaver, but it takes forever to do decent damage and soon I'm covered in ethereals. I'm a demo lock too, so I know how to solo. Either you're all fantastic players, or this has been hotfixed.

They must have changed this quest in the 2.1 patch. I tried it solo as a 70 feral druid. I have over 12,500 armor and over 10,000 health and my base dps is over 160 in bear form (not to mention a 30% dodge, and the fact that every hit against the reaver is a crit). I regrowthed and laid into the reaver and the first spawn came about 5 seconds later. There was NO 30 second grace period. They came about every 5-10 seconds after that until I had 10 on me and they were still coming. They are NOT limited to only 6, as someone suggested. I frenzied, barkskinned and healed, did everything except waste a potion and didn't get him below 8000 health before those freaks finally got me. After talking to other people, they said they killed the thing before the first ethereal even came. Obviously, this doesn't happen anymore.

So... I would suggest NOT listening to anyone who posted before the 2.1 patch was released, as I doubt the information now applies. Save yourself the repair bill and bring someone along to help.

EDIT: tested today on live (2021-07-19) and I waited for about 5 minutes, all adds despawned, and I killed the Fel Reaver without issues.
Seems that during beta you couldn't avoid the conflict. On live, it is working.

Ignore all the comments suggesting you to mount and wait adds despawn. It doesn't work on TBC Classic.

During TBC Classic Beta, I completed this quest by burning all cds on Fel Reaver. Only 2 adds spawned during the time.

T2/T2.5 geared BM Hunter.

As of 2022.04.13. it's still working in TBC classic. Zapped the reaver, immediately mount and flew up, waited for the adds to despawn, then "kill" the fel reaver. didn't lost a single hitpoint, got the quest item.

Don't aggro any of them even if you can reset aggro with shadowmeld etc, it may bug out and everything will despawn when the adds despawn.

I summoned an earth elemental, then zapped it, it just stayed on the ground for a while, then I zapped it again and it stood up, however it just did nothing and we killed it for free. I'm guessing something about the earth elemental broke it?

I may have zapped it, then summoned the earth elemental, the "beating heart" text appeared, but still nothing really happened.
