When you start this quest, you get a "Reflection of Ya-six" as a guardian and a 10 minute debuff before you can summon it again. You then have to walk south and around to go up a level in the cave before getting to Arconus. He'll fight with you if you're attacked, but is quite squishy.

Note that you must return to Commander Ameer at the Protectorate Watch Post in Netherstorm, and not Agent Ya-six (quest giver). Took me a while to figure out and then I read the quest log. ;)

Note: To find Arconus, return to the entrance of the cave and take the right passage and you should be able to find him alot easier. If you stay in the lower portion (left) you won't find him and probably get highly frustrated running in circles.

If the reflection dissapears after 10 min, you can still kill the mob and complete the quest.

Confirmed, you can complete the quest without the reflection or the debuff. Makes things a lot easier :)

I killed Arconus 3 times so far and still haven't completed the quest. Anyone else having this problem?

I tried once with me getting the killing blow, once with the image, and once after the image despawned. Still no go..

Stealthers, do yourselves a favour and suicide the guardian on the first fleshbeast you see. Not only will he aggro everything in your path, they will attack you (even in stealth) once he dies, no matter where in the cave you are. The boss is perfectly soloable anyhow, and it saves you clearing every single mob from beginning to end.

A word to the wise: stay well away from the dead bodies strewn about the cave. That twitching isn't a graphical glitch; they're infected with parasites, and if you walk over the body, a parasite will spawn and aggro you. Pretty annoying.

If you get some of the smaller parasites on you as a hunter, just feign death and they'll disappear.

If you're doing this quest, you are probably also doing the quest The Flesh Lies.... If not, you should pick it up. It's just outside, a little bit west of the entrance of the cave.
The item you get from the quest, Protectorate Igniter, is very helpful in burning the corpses, so you won't get parasites to appear when you're too close to a Withered Corpse.
You can keep using the item, even if you already completed burning the 12 Corpses for the quest.

Also the quest item Teleporter Power Pack for the quest A Not-So-Modest Proposal is located behind the questgiver of the "Arconus the Insatiable" quest.

Ok, the problem with the posts so far is that they don't take into account that you get this quest from Agent Ya-six who is deep inside on the Bottom north end of the cave, where as Arconus the Insatiable is on an upper level of the cave, also on the north.

From Agent Ya-Six, fight your way back, following the crystal Protectorate beacons.

It might be less confusing to simply follow the crystals all the way out of the cave. Then using that as a starting point....

As you enter the cave fresh from the outside, you hang right. The protectorate crystals will again go off to the left, you wont follow them this time.

As you go around the bend, you see the mana tube. Turn right there, the boss is at the end of the tunnel at 60,41 you'll clearly see him..

If you were also doing the quest "The Flesh Lies..." at the same time, you'll find this to be an easy solo. If you didn't, take a friend to help with the bodies on the ground, don't move fast in here, be methodical.

Arconus is 60,40.

The "Big Room" everyone talks about is not always visible on your minimap as the mines are layered. Just keep working your way north and you'll see it eventually.

I found this cave because there was a rich adamantite deposit in it. So I go into it and realize 'hey, I have a quest here, might as well do it while i got to the ore'. So i fight my way through to Ya-Six, who is near the transporter thing i need for another quest. I say '$%^&, wrong way', but then notice he gives me a quest to go to the place with the adamantite. So it all works out in the end :-)

Arconus is located at location 60,40 at the very Northern tip of the cave. Go into cave and when you see a pink manaforge tube take a right turn to find him - Reason for previous post is that cave is a hellhole and stumbling around blindly looking for the guy is not my idea of helpful post.

A couple quick comments. At any level below 70, this looks like a great XP grinding quest. But at 70 it is aggravating as hell. At least was for me.

My experience (and screw up I guess). I picked up The Flesh Lies to make it easier (I had read)...and if you have the corpse burner, it really does. But I went looking for Ya - Six and he showed up on my hunters map...I was dead on the spot..and he wasn't there. Went wandering around...killed Acronus a couple times out of boredom. Finally gave up..thought it was bugged..and turned in The Flesh Lies. This time..and maybe it happened before and I should have stuck around...the NPC goes into a dialogue with Ya and Ya talks about the crystals marking the path to him. So I entered the cave again and followed the crytals again....but without the burner my pet and I had to kill I don't know how many mobs. Had to use a potion. But THIS time a portion of the cave wall seemed to open up to the wooden walkway and Ya was where he was supposed to be to begin with. By then I had to log out...and so will return and try and finish....kill Acronus again...some other time. Maybe I just took a wrong turn first time.

I do not know how much the reflection will help, but it is gonna be a tedious chore to get to Acronus without the corpse burner.

This is one I wish I had never started....I will ditto the "take your time" advice....and it will take plenty of time now. And do it with The Flesh Lies ( by all means..though it is too late for me to do that). And also the advice that you should just follow the crystals out then turn right at the glowing power conduit would work if you get disoriented at all. Acronus will seem like a breeze after all you have fought to get to him. Then have fun fighting your way back out. Ayiyiyi <g>

Agent Ya-six at Access Shaft Zeon in Netherstorm has asked you to slay Arconus the Insatiable and return to Commander Ameer at the Protectorate Watch Post in Netherstorm.

Araxes and I were deployed to Ultris 2 days ago. Our mission: Find and terminate the void lord Arconus. We tracked him to this mine and discovered that he'd been feeding off the energies of the creatures in the area.

A fire-fight broke out which resulted in Araxes and I separating. Now I'm stuck here, badly injured. The mission is in shambles!

If you can take out Arconus, high command would be grateful. Should you accept this mission, I will assist by providing a reflection of myself as a guardian.
