There are a lot of mobs patrolling the area, and you can avoid most by staying to the Western side.

Arix'Amal (53,26) will drop the Gate Key, which you'll then need to use to shut the gate just a few meters away (53,27).

A word to the wise...this isn't easy...dont try to solo this if you are under 61 and don't have a lot of health pots...even with evading as many as possible, you will aggro at least half a dozen mobs getting to the boss and they respawn very quickly...and have non predictable patrol patterns...good luck!

I took out Arix'Amal without any problems.. didn't get under 60% health and i didn't even use my adrenaline rush..
i am lvl 60 combat rogue and it's not because of any imba gear.. i got lvl 60 after TBC so really don't have any epics or anything

did not get any adds while fighting him

Did this as a level 58 frost mage, i killed adds around him, then just whipped up my Water Elemental, he died in about 20 seconds.
Real easy quest :) can almost be called free exp :þ And when he fell down, i dinged :) 59! :D

Be sure to take out all the adds first before closing down the portal. There's one mob inside the portal that you must kill first then quikly disable the portal and hearthstone out of there or fight your way back to the quest giver near the first burning legion camp that you had to destoy. Be carefull though: These mobs respawn fast! Good luck!

The Burning Legion Gate is north of Thrallmar - exit to the east and go north past the various demons. It's much easier to get to Warbringer Arix'AmalStick if you stick to the right side (with the mountains - east side) because you can avoid the MKI cannons.

Mobs spawn fast and there's lots so don't linger too long.

Kill Warbringer Arix'Amal to obtain the Burning Legion Gate Key. He is located behind (north) of the actual Burning Legion Gate. You have to then grab the key and go back to the south side of the Burning Legion Gate (it's the glowing thing in the centre which the other towers are feeding magical energy to.

Very easy for a level 60 Warlock Demo build. My advice is just clear the camp all around him and pull him towards you. Good luck!

Pulled him standing really close to the burning legion gate and got 1 add, which wasn't too much of a problem. He does a flame attack that hurts if you stay there so I'd suggest you clear the area a bit so you can move during the fight. Got a letter than started The Dark Missive (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10395) from his corpse.

In case you get lost on the same thing I did; to close the gate in question, you'll need to use the key (right-click on it) on the glowing sphere in the middle of the gate structure. So you never actually activate the whole gate or anything, just the core of it.

I suggest going from the mountain side which is left of him keep walking killing everything that attacks until you reach him.
He has two servants on each side of him, kill the one on your side thats blocking your way to him.
Then pull him away from his spot and kill him because you don't want his respawn to attack you :P seriously it does happen and it's not impossible.

This appears to be bugged as of right now. He respawns less than 10 seconds after you kill him. I killed him and his servants once, and right after I looted him he respawned. I killed him again, and poof there he was again. He killed me the third time.

That guy had a damned EVADE bug when I tried to kill him. Had to pull him 3 times to finally kill him. Use the "key" INSIDE the gate ... there's something floating inside the gate that you have to activate the key on. The guy you kill drops the key you use on the gate ... 1-2-3.

I had the evade bug as well. I had to keep him very close to his starting area to kill him. He has low hp though so not too bad.

Spawn rate on mobs round him is insane....

For me the hardest part was closing the portal. It's worth mentioning that once the key is obtained from Arix, there is a circular shaped thing floating on the southern side of the portal. This is where you must click to complete the quest.

As a rogue you can stealth up to Warbringer Arix'Amal and kill him as quickly as possible. Then loot him quickly and vanish. After that, stealth walk to the gate and use the key. Easy.

just a warning ... I killed Arix extremely fast (before he even had time to cast his fire attack), but while I was killing him a servant joined in as soon as I had killed the servant Arix had already respawned (approximately 15 secs for me) so get in and get out quickly

This is easily one of the hardest non-group quests in the game, imo, for several reasons:

1) Extraordinarily high mob density leading towards the named mob. Trying to run past anything is pretty much suicide since there are few places that are clear enough to lose aggro in.

2) Very fast repop rate. 5 minutes at most for the normal mobs, no more than 2 on the named mob. Don't get caught off guard here, if you die or stall in your clear you'll probably have to start over. I remember one time I did this on my Warlock and I approached from the south (cliff) side and got stuck in a continuous battle where mobs repopped as fast as I could kill them until I died.

3) Lots of patrols, and annoying ones at that. Rather than simply respawning, a lot of the mobs will spawn in the portal in the base and move back to their normal spot or route. This means that there's a fair chance that mobs will get in your way as you try to shut off the portal even if you've cleared the entire area.

4) A couple trash mobs path over to the named mob... and then stay on top of him for quite a while. Either you have to wait it out (a minute or more) or fight two or more mobs at once... assuming they don't evade bug, which they can. Seriously, whose idea was it to make patrols that stand on top of the named mob for a long time, and then move? Either make them tied or don't, don't make people wait forever when there's a short respawn timer as is.

5) There are several mobs around the portal that will path by it and aggro onto you while you try to shut it off. Also, shutting it off can be difficult because even if you know that you have to click and where you have to click, you need to be at the right camera angle in order to click and not have the game think you're trying to click on something on the other side of the portal. Very annoying.

Soloed as a 61 resto shammy. Just take your time clearing (including the patrols) and it's not all that difficult. Also, don't go into the gate to use the key when that patrol is inside it, sometimes it's hard to see if he's in there or not.

Did this as a lvl 60 warrior grouped with a 61 druid.

Many mobs, just hop on your mount and ride until you get to the final camp. Once there your target is obvious, kill until you get to him. Commanding shout and retaliation are a good combo here, and will bring him down fast.

Once done with that there is a gate that is similar to what you encountered in previous quests. Go there and click on the gate key then on the floating emblem thing in the middle. Then hop back on your mount for the quest turn-in. Easy as pie.

Like the other guy said he wouldn't worry about doing this quest. He's wrong i would . Yea you only get 2g out of it but you get 250 rep off of it. If you like me tryin to build your rep up its worth doing it. And its actually pretty easy quest . I soloed it at 62.

This is one of those BS Blizzard quests that should be for at least 2 players. Once there, it is IMPOSSIBLE to not pull 2-3 adds when trying to complete the objectives. I had to die inside the gate, rez, shield, and use the key. I still got attacked by 3-4 mobs. I did this solo as a 61 priest. 2gold and 9800xp isn't worth the hassle. Just forget this one.

Some of you complain way too much. Did this as a lvl 58 feral druid, in cat form. Not difficult. Clear your way, there's a safe ledge on the far south edge, and pull him there. If you pay attention you can find the pats and save yourself a wipe.

Level 61 lock. Just had to take care to slowly take out the surrounding mobs to clear a path. You can pull one at a time until you have a pretty safe area to work from. Pull the guy to you and kill him. The tough part I had was to find out what to do with the key. Plan ahead for that. I stood in the middle trying to figure it out, a mage came along and aggro'd a few mobs that ended up killing me. Lucky I had a soul stone on. I rez'd, finally saw what to do with the key, and then hearthed out only because I was in a hurry to get training since I hit 62 just before I got killed. :)

ive done this quest with 3 other characters, and i thought that it would be easier with my 4th one. and i was wrong. the respawn rate is still horrific and the sheer amount of mobs within the area is quite ridiculous.
as a 61 lock... i had to kill arix amal, and die at his feet. soulstone ressurection and loot him. however the problem was i didnt know where to use the damn key! the portal is where he will be facing before i killed him, the big, green tower right in the middle. and you have to walk within the portal and click on the floating green blob to close the portal... people had already respawned and come to me, so i had to howl of terror, close the portal and run as far away as i could, and died.
I then resurrected handed in the quest, and vowed never to do this quest ever again. .

Ok...I have to agree...I didn't care for this quest whatsoever. Here is what I did though which made it easier. As you are approaching Invasion Point, veer off up into the hills right there and make your way up and around to the back. You will be on the mountain looking down at the Annihilator. Kill the mobs right below where you are standing, and make your way to to the right where you can clear 1 mob be ok. Then it will be much easier to kill Arix'Amal. Get the key. What I happened to me is I died and actually rez in the Annihilator. When I rez'd, I did so standing next to the west wall, not in the middle. I aggro 1 mob, killed her and then was able to use the key.

After I kiled Arix'Amal I spent allot of time trying to figure out what to do to close the portal - after some time i noticed the large coin like dealie floating in the center of the portal across from Arix'Amal's corpse. Don't linger he respawns in about a minute.

lvl 60 balance druid, stealthed along north side of previous 2 camps. Went deep enough in to spot the target, backed up and cleared the 3 demons in range. Waited for the 2 solo patrols to come in range and took them out. The target has ONE servant with him who you cna pretty much ignore until the target is dead. Dropped treants directly on target to start, roots, moon, swarm, starfire 3x picke dup key backed up to north mountain again.
Cleared the 2 demons in aggro range of portal and closed it.
The toughest part was figuring exactly where to close portal, it is more visible from the south but you can close it from the side which is what I did, less aggro to deal with.

The turn in is back where you got the quest, it doesn't let you know in the log.

Ok, something I found out. It is the easiest way...for a lock. (ftw!) Arix repops almost instantly. So I kill him again, VW is low on health, so I sac it. I then ran to the portal tried to click on the "gear-mouseover," but ended up dying (interrupts). Fortunately I had SS myself. I was just going to try the whole thing again, but before I released my spirit to GY, I decided what the hell. I'm a lock we pwn demons. I rez and notice that the demons aren't attacking! Looks like I'm in the portal and they can't "see me!" Cool click on the "gear" and tadaa, quest completed. 8) nice trick, Blizz (love ya). I then hearthed out lol. Who do think I am, Illi? haha

I don't know about anyone else, but this quest is a PITA! I had so much lag while trying to use the key that by the time the hand had a blue glow around it, I was being attacked. I had to kill at least 6 mobs while standing at the portal, fighting lag more than anything else during the battles. If you have less than 1Gb in your machine, expect the same or worse (I have 1.5Gb, 3.3Ghz Celeron)

If you bear to the right, you will eventually find the mountain path that takes you around the back, so to speak. A lot less clearing to do.

Then, pull and kill. Once you've cleared the area, banish the sidekick and kill the main (if there are any sidekick's remaining) and quick use the key before he respawns. Then hearthstone home and fly back to where you need to be (or, clear your way back. There doesn't seem to be a way to climb back up the way you got in).

Worth it for the secondary quest it spawns that takes you on the way to getting a great trinket.

Spent an hour on this quest so far as a lvl60 fire mage... breezed through the pre-reqs but this one is such a PITA! The mobs are everywhere, low respawn rates, and when you finally do make it to the guy he has this fire attack that kills you in like three seconds. If you move, he runs back and you go OOC, so you have to try killing him all over again. I think he's bugged or something because just ARGH I'm dropping this its too much a PITA. I haven't done this last quest on ANY of my other toons because its just such a pain in the rear. This is the first time I've actually tried to attempt it, and now I can see why I've dropped it in the past. I've died more in the last 30 minutes than I have all week =/

At least while I was attempting this quest nearly all of my auctions sold so I did have something nice to look forward to when I went to log :)

Quest isn't too difficult. Take your time and go along the northern edge of the mountains, little mob difficulty.

I solo'd with a 59 lock with relative ease. Not too hard for a lock, just use banish wisely. I did die once but that was for my own stupidity of not paying attention to Arix'Amal while fighting him, but my curses killed him about half a second after i died so it was just a matter of looting when i rezd. If you plan the path its easy to find a way through with only pulling one demon, two if your unlucky.

I killed only Arix...Stealthed Ambush from behind aggroed mobs next to him but used Evasion, killed Arix looted and Vanished...Rogue FTW xD (lvl 60)
The BL Gate is opposite the guy again i used the key on the Gate, closed it and stealthed out...

I suspect Arix'Amal is indeed "working as intended," since every time I've done this quest he evades back to his spawn point if you pull him. You have to be fairly careful, but I wouldn't call it a pain. Just clear all around him first; he won't come as an add with any of the surrounding MOBs. When ready, engage him right on his spawn point. Then clear around the portal and complete the quest.

To complete this quest you need to slay Warbringer Arix'Amal to get the Burning Legion Gate Key.

You need to make your way to the west of quest giver, check you map to discover the very western demon camp mark, you can locate Warbringer Arix'Amal there.
Carefully clear a path and pull him away from his servants. After killing loot Burning Legion Gate Key and click to the central core of the gates to close them.

Well, we've located the Legion's final base on the ridge - Invasion Point: Annihilator. It lies northwest of Forge Camp: Rage - and it houses a warp-portal through which the Legion has been drawing its reinforcements!

You've got to close that portal to prevent any more demons from coming through. The Point's overlord, Warbringer Arix'Amal, holds the portal's activation key. Take it from him and shut that blasted gateway down!
