Just fight the stuff while you follow him best you can, when he gets to the conduit wait 2-3 seconds till the mobs spawn and pop an AE fear if you have it, or Frost Nova/Vanish/etc he'll be done within a second.

the absolute easiest way to do this is to clear out the mobs on the path, accept the quest, mount up, and then land on the building close to the portal. when the 3 mobs summon, attack each of them so they evade bug. they you complete the quest without needing to fight at all

if you fail the quest by letting the guy die, you have to wait about 10 min before he respawns. pretty annoying, i thought it became broken after the demolitionist was killed.

Didn't have to do anything for this quest. It bugged, the guy never appeared and I mysteriously completed it. Score! I am still clueless how to do the quest for my friend.

Note, if you accepted this quest and the NPC (Demolishinist) didn't spawn immediately, then abandon quest and wait a few minutes.... There was a group beside me and when I accepted quest, the NPC didn't spawn. So I ran around a few mins looking for another spawn spot.... Wasn't until I abandon quest and talk to the NPC standing on the teleport pad, that I took the quest again and the escort NPC spawned this time.

Oh and yes, definitely clear the path south first.

Before you begin, start at the Star Wars transporter tunnel thing at 56, 43. Work your way north towards the transport pad, killing everything in the way and even some stuff a bit out of the way. Hopefully, by the time you hit the pad and summon the demolitionist, everything south of you will have been cleared and you'll just have to deal with the 3 adds at the end.

Strangely, the 3 adds at the end are pretty easy Nexus Stalkers, much like the ones you fought while questing at Area 52. Dunno why the Archons and Overlords wanna turn into them, but it does make finishing this quest much easier.

worst quest ever.

first the bug,

make sure you are standing on the platform that summons the quest giver or else the escort NPC will not show. Tested this numerous times, it only showed up for me while standing on the platform.

Second, the design of the area.

Mobs are tightly packed, here so be careful. the problem with this quest is that there is way too much shit lying on the ground making it confusing to complete. I didn't know which way the npc would turn towards, he would turn right, and then left, making you aggro the mob to the right, not knowing that you don't have to kill it.

Not to mention the distance from the quest area from the nearest rez point, way to go blizz on keeping me logged in for an extra 12 minutes to run to my corpse.

Third, GG Bliz.

trying to add lore to this quest makes it really stupid. Not only to i have to deal with summoning the quest giver in a dangerous area, but the summoned NPC escort is just as stupid, i mean there are maybe 4 types of soloable quests in this game, why would you have to make this one any different by adding a summonable NPC in an aggroable area ?

I give you 1/10 for effort, worst quest ever.

By the way if your a mage, use mage armor its hella easier

This NPC does NOT fight back. He only pauses a couple times very briefly and lets any and everything beat on him.

I solo'd this as a 70 hunter. My pet died trying to pull 3 off him. There was no time to rez so I had to melee/kite/trap the other four that jumped him on the way to the giant platform. It bought him just enough time to plant the bomb. When the quest popped up as "complete" I FD, mounted up and flew away, leaving the poor light man to die... I suggest you clear the road first before you start the quest... especially those with a deadzone.

Extemely odd quest, possibly bugged. Holy Priest, lvl 70.

I didnt realize the stupid hologram would just walk through the area aggroing everything in sight, not even stopping to wait. By the time I took aggro off the third mob, I was in over my head. I decide to run for my life as soon as the 4th and 5th adds came. I spammed the usual Renew/POM/Shield/Fear and ran out of the base, dragging 12+ mobs behind me.

Living and finally de-aggroing, something VERY weird happened. The quest completed. I can only assume I aggro'd everything in a mile radius fearing and running out that nothing was left to attack the hologram. I won't complain, but this is not an easy task with one person.

As others have said, make sure you've got the area to the south cleared before you accept this quest, because he WILL chain-pull the entire thing. By the time I killed the first two, he'd aggroed three more and I was at half-health.

And yes, after accepting the quest you get a 10-min debuff before you can try again.

Only thing worse than an escort quest, is an escort quest with a NPC that doesn't even bother to pause on his route and had a 10-minute cooldown.

Worst quest in netherstorm, IMO.

DId this quest today, May 2nd...Very easy...
do not walk behind him...as soon as he starts to move...mount up your flying mount..and just stay near him..nothing attacks him at all...very easy...might be a bug to be fixed...so RUN THIS NOW..and make sure you are flying..he does not aggro anything..he still shouts...but he takes no damage..and nothing attacks him.

This quest is annoying at best. Managed to solo it 1st try but only because I read here first. Basically they need to make the spawn timers longer, or designate this as a group quest. I cleared out the path the image takes, and by the time I got back to the pad to begin the quest the mobs were already respawning. Now, I'm a mage so I kill fast. I can't even imagine prot warriors or holy priests having to do this.

Flying had no noticeable impact, as all the mobs aggro'd him when he got in their range without me even near them. So, it may be a random bug that some people are fortunate enough to get.

Completely agreed - this quest is very annoying. I only finished it because of the tips here. It's really hard to clear a path because there are so many mobs and they respawn very fast and you don't know exactly what his path is the first time. On top of that, he stops along the way to sightsee and make comments - he can't talk while he walks, he has to stop and gape at stuff. Meanwhile the respawn timer is ticking and nearby mobs are getting closer. I would have abandoned this quest if I hadn't needed the reward and wanted to finish the chain.

Pretty easy for a rogue, as has been said, just clear what mobs you can first, and then sap as he gets near to any respawns or patrols, and when the three spawn at the end while he is setting the bomb, hit Evasion and use Ghostly Strike if you have it. You may take damage at the end, but just wait for the complete message, and vanish.

It happened to me also, i was unable to keep up at first, and saw him aggro a mob, then the mob moved off him almost immediately, and after that he did not aggro any mobs anymore, i observed him in my flight form and he was not attacked at all. easiest escort quest i've seen lol

perhaps this was some glitch, maybe it'll be fixed soon, but for now, its just a free quest

As a protection warrior, this is probably the worst quest that I've seen in all the game and as some other quests that are based on engaging lots of mobs this one should be considered at least elite.

The guy that you have to escort does not stop and does not fight even if he gets attacked, what means that if you start the quest right away in a mater of less than a minute he will have get 3 or for guys on him plus any random Ethereum Overlord that is patroling the area. That will mean that he will be dead in a matter of secs and you will be afterwards as the pulls will be too big for you to handle.

If you try the tactic of cleaning his way before starting the quest, even going 2 weapons and dps you can not clean enough of the mobs before they start to spam again.

Then either you are a dps class pretty well geared that kills things extremely quick or you are like my mate prot pala that he normally farms in packs of 15 mobs at the same time to finish with full mana and full health. But as a prot warrior this is completey impossible, just bring a friend.

I don't know, but this quest finished by itself...

Due to the fact that I didn't read the text closely, I started the quest with only 20% health or so.... after helping the guy killing the first assassin(the guy won't help you fight, he'll just walk slowly forward...) I decided to eat food and let that guy die. After 3 mins or so, I was certain that the guy is already dead... I got the message that the quest is complete.... O.o

Definitely one of the worst, most poorly designed quests in the game. Holy priest here -- couldn't finish it. The NPC is an idiot, as he keeps on walking and aggroing more and more guys. Doesn't help you at all.

I am AMAZED Blizz hasn't fixed this. Oh well.

For some reason, the NPC you are escorting doesn't aggro. So if you just hop on your flying mount and follow him around from a distance, you don't have to fight anything to complete this quest.

As a druid at lvl 68+ this is pretty easy. Go into flightform and fly ahead and around the mobs. They will aggro you, but just pull them around till the demolitionist has passed, then fly up. You immediately loose aggro from the melee mobs, and a bit higher you loose from the casters (you have to get out of range of course).

Don't believe that the demolitionist doesn't aggro, though you might be tricked by him, because he keeps on walking.

Seems like 50/50 for aggroing, though some people say he does aggro, he did the first time (and i failed), the 2nd time i mounted up as wowhead suggested and he did not aggro at all.

Take it as you will, I may have gotten lucky, but he did pass through mobs.

Solo'ed it as Prot Warrior

It wasn't easy but what I did is I let him aggro then I would pull it off, but he does aggro a ton of shiz on the way, and he never stops walking. I ended up popping a health potion, last stand, and shield wall and after the npc completed his task I ran until they de-aggroed, and barely lived lol. I have half epics so prob not good to do it they way I did it but it worked.

There is a chance when he spawns that he becomes evade bugged, meaning the other mobs dont even attempt to run over to him. Happened to me and i just flew around above him till it completed.

I started clearing the mobs from the back and took quest, only for an ally rogue to gank me half way the t**t.
I am on a PVP server but tend not to world gank if allies are doing an escort quest or dailies, not constructive for either side.

Did not bother retaking, the GY is also on one of the other islands and a long run so could not be bothered with it.
Prot Warrior.
Will wait for guildies or others around the area to do again.

I did this quest today. I got on my flying mount and followed from above. All the mobs ignored him, and then at the part where the two etherals spawn when he plants the bomb they spawned and then immediately despawned. Third easiest quest ever.

If you have a flying mount, just hop on it and stay above the Escort. You'll be able to fly through this Quest without ever engaging into battle.

I was worried about this quest after reading all the comments, but it was cake for me.

The NPC aggroed two mobs as soon as he spawned, I killed those quickly, shifted to flight form, and just followed him from the air. He didn't aggro anything else, until he got to his destination and the 3 mobs appear. Then, I just killed those quickly.

Flying worked for me, nothing aggroed.

If you are a rogue then just sap ahead. They have a fairly short aggro range, so you should have plenty of time to sneak up and sap. Use distract to stop the patrols at a safe distance.

when i was first trying the quest,i killed 4 mobs on the way-had no idea what d happen-
then the man next to me aggroed too many mobs ,and as i was low on hp i tried to run the way back.
but then suddenly a minute later,the q was completed,the spawning mobs chased me i guess,and as i was too far away,they couldnt touch the quest guy and he did his job with no problem
so i suggest that u do the same,kill a few mobs,then leave the guy alone and run the way back
when the q completed the mobs dissappeared as well

This quest line is a joke. This is as far as I'm going to go with it. As someone else points out - the guy can't fight, but he can blow up a pipe? Ridiculous. This entire quest line is stupid, and there's no point to it, unless you have a group and a lot of time to kill.

when he is at the pipe 2 mobs will spawn. if ure on flyingmount they will despawn and quest done without killing 1 mob HF :D

The post of 9/25/07 by Haplow works. Accept the quest. He starts out and will quickly aggro a mob. At that point I abandoned the quest, killed the mob and returned to the questgiver. After the Demolitionist was just about out of sight I re-acceped the quest. I then mounted up and charged right across everything to the end of the pipe to see what was up and just kept going to the other side and up the rocky slope. At that point the mobs gave up and I got the message that the quest had been completed. Nice.

I forgot to look this one up ahead of time to prepare myself for the inevitable bugs so I died when he aggrod four mobs in 10 seconds. NPC suicide FTL. Of course I had to walk 5 minutes from the graveyard half way across the map and was pleasantly surprised to find that I had no safe rez spot. I chose a spot with one mob but one of the dozens of pats came along when I rezed so I had to try to run out of camp so that when I came back in 5 minutes I could rez safely. I couldn't make it far enough on half health so after I died I just gave up and spirit rezed.

Bliz needs to tack a "b" on the end of all of wow's version numbers. How about working on fixing all the bugs and broken quests instead of shooting out another expansion?

I cleared a path to be sure, didn't want to try the trick in the post below. I'm a 70 resto shammy. Drank to replenish mana and went back to the pad. I only cleared till the middle of the open area, did not get the guy by the tunnel. I knew I wouldn't have time.

By the time the guy got done blabbing the first assassin guy respawned. As resto I can't kill real fast, especially when I can't start at range with lightning bolts. what I did was melee and shock him while backing up. I wanted to keep moving in case the second guy respawned. Took him out and got to the middle of the open area near the tunnel thing. At this There was one guy by the water, but as a 70 my aggro range wasn't too bad and I didn't aggro him, and neither did this guy. Also an overlord patrol got pretty close, I stayed out of the way, but this guy did not aggro him either. Or the archon by the tunnel.

At the end of the operation 2 guys spawned and I let loose earth elemental. And I got hit with another respawn and a overlord pat as well. But with the elemental wasn't too bad.

If you have Flight Form, Stealth, or a Flying Mount. Sit above the guy and watch him walk right through everyone. I JUST did this quest 3/2/07. GL Everyone. Very easy.

Lvl 70 Rogue. Stayed stealthed beside him. He aggroed 1 mob only others didn't aggo. Killed it quick. Restealthed. He got to pipe, planted explosives, 2 mobs spawned. I killed them. Done. 3 mins tops.

The guy didn't aggro anything. I got overly zealous with the felguard and pulled a bunch of unnecessary mobs. The quest guy walked through everything and didn't get attacked until he planted the bomb. The assassins that spawned didn't have time to kill him before the quest completed. Then I got ripped apart by everything I aggro'd. Besides, who cares how messed up the quest is? It's an escort quest, they all suck. If you can't do it solo, get a group. Why all the hostility over the quest just because you can't figure out a way to get it done?

The quest is definately soloable but you will most likely die in the end. You have to clear up all the trash is all. Some mobs spawn at the end when he is sabotaging and he doesn't help so you will likely die but soloable none the less.

You have 2 choices with this quest.

form a group of at least 2 players (3 is better) to fight off everything he aggros on the way (including the assassin that usually spawns right where he does)

Or clear a path from him to the pipeline (to the south). If you do this the only things you have to fight off are the patrolling overlord and 2 nether-walkers that spawn at the pipe when he works on it.

Otherwise, stay away from this quest. The rewards barely cover the expense of repairing from dying while soloing it 'normally.'

Should be marked 'group' is it very annoying to solo.

Easily soloable as a warrior, NOT! The guy walks through the camp aggroing everything he passes, not stopping to let you finish one fight before next begins. When you finally die you have at least 4 mobs hitting you or casting spells on you and the guy just keeps walking aggroing more.

I tried the flying trick too. It did not work, he still aggroes everything with the slight bonus that I'm still alive when he dies.

I'm definitely gonna need help completing this quest.

i accidentally found a way to do this so he could walk through the mobs without getting attacked, i abandoned the quest as he walked off, i still had to kill the first mob as it had already agro'd, then when he got the spot where he does his sabotage, i got the quest again and it completed, easy

70 druid-feral. I tried stealthing, & flying. He aggroed everything he got near each time. In the end, I had to clear the path preemptively.

Ya so this quest is really messed up. Tried it the first time and he didn't aggro any mobs, but I did walking near him and got overwhelmed. So I thought, ok this'll be easy if I just fly over him because he doesn't aggro anything. Ya GG Blizzard! The second time, I flew over him and he aggrod everything! wtf is going on?

I did enjoy the brain damage part of the line, though this quest caused it IRL.

Started it, knowing he wouldn't fight but expecting him to wait for me. That didn't work... knowing he only had a short walk, I pulled threat off him each time a mob aggro'd, fear bombing and healing as I could. He blew it up before I died... DE'd the quest reward for 2 arcane dust.

Between that and the 7g, I barely recovered my repair bill (8.5). Horrible quest.

Can be soloed, you just have to clear the path ahead of time. Start at the transponder and work your way south fast to the big vertical pipe at 56,42. There should be about 10 mobs to drop. You can probably kill any patrols otw if you run into them. Just be ready for the two at the end and you're golden.

Doesn't seem soloable by many classes unless you clear the area to the south of him of the 6-8 mobs first. He'll agro them all and not assist in fighting. He just keeps walking and agroing more. Then as soon as he reaches his destination, he spawns 2 more on top of himself. I was able to kill everything as a solo 70 hunter until he spawn the 2 adds, then I had to FD and let my pet die.

I'm sending one of my demolitionists out to place the disruption device. Just make sure no harm comes to him as he's placing the disruptor.

Keep him protected! He will not fight back if enemies attack him as he is only a holographic image but the image can be destroyed!
