He's hard, but doable. Our first try, he bugged.

2nd try we - made 1 guy (MT) use the disruptor on all three (and only him), and he was attackable. Gives some bonus threat too, i think.

We wiped at adds though (un- rootable/kiteable and 10-15k hp), and two people had to leave.
So, my proposition is just PEW PEW PEW boss after add spawns

After this being bugged, found out if you stay too close to him as he is released, he bugs, so get away from him and preferably have MT plant the last device.
During the fight we used a hunter pet for extra dps, which actually kept taking all the ice blocks, so I'd recommend using a pet in melee (if there's no other melee besides MT).

So far after a few tries, everytime he's come down and grown big, then chased around whoever planted the devices, un-attackable, as well as not attacking....

Talked to a GM, he said it was bugged, and there was nothing we could do about it. We stand where ever we wanted, and it would still not help any... Just luck basecly.

After killing all the adds around the pillars..start the event by cutting off his energy shield supplies using the quest item.

Whoever does the last gets the initial aggro.

Kite him down into the canyon just to the southeast of the platue he starts on. Ensure you keep your backs towards the inside of the continent cause his knockback ( which is un-interruptable) could potentially knock you off the island. When he gets to 50-60% he spawns several adds. Allow the main tank to maintain the aggro on the boss and kill of the adds. Adds down..kill the boss. Besides the knockback he also does stasis on a <random target?> . Only lasts a few seconds.

We had him bug out on us three times when he spawned his two adds at 50%, only one add would spawn and then he would become untargetable and just slowly kill us since the tank couldn't attack. The three times we did it our hunter was starting the fight and then feigning for the tank. The fourth time we had the tank start the fight and the adds spawned fine and we got him.

I know it might not mean anything for anyone else but thought I'd share.

I tried this quest 5 times. It bugged out every time. After he summons the adds, he's untargettable.

The bottom line is: this quest is bugged. it's a complete gamble with no repeatable symptoms to trigger the bug.

Same...After his adds spawned, I was actually able to target one of the adds and it showed the boss's name instead of the add's name. The boss himself was untargetable, and wiped the group (except me, go go mage invisibility :P).

I'd love to finish out Netherstorm and get the staff and gold, but wtf.

Anyone know any tricks besides having 1 person place all the quest items at the pillars?

I believe that he has been hotfixed. Tried it a week ago twice and he bugged everytime. Tried it a day or two ago and we had no problems.

As of 02/23, this quest is fixed. Worked perfectly for my group, and I had a friend who did it who said it worked fine as well. Had been trying without success sporadically over the past month, and today it finally worked. Yay

LISTEN UP. This quest IS functioning properly and the GM told me how to do it... and it worked just fine. First clear out the 3 groups of adds that stand by the pillars, start the quest and start beating the hell out of the boss. Now here is the key, DO NOT KILL HIS ADDS THAT SPAWN! If you do not touch the adds that spawn when he's at 30% health or whatever, he'll be untargetable for only like 5 seconds, then u can retarget him and kill him. If you kill his adds he becomes permanently untargetable and wipes your group. Good luck!

Warning to warriors: Salhadaar's Stasis ability clears all buffs and auras, including your stance. You are put into "no stance", and your toolbar switches to the "no stance" toolbar. You probably have never seen this toolbar, so it's probably going to be blank. So you're tanking along, when suddenly your ENTIRE TOOLBAR VANISHES. Fun, eh? Just hit one of your stance buttons and all will be well.

Omg I am so angry about this ... I caused a wipe because my frickin toolbar dissappeared IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIGHT and I only discovered now why. I lost aggro because the buttons I needed were on that bar. I thought it was an issue with TrinityBars so I disabled that addon and we made another attempt with the default Blizz toolbar. Same thing happened!

Give me a freaking break. This is rediculous 'debuff' should be renamed to "make the tank look like a n00b and waste his/her party members' time".

And we took the boss and adds down fairly fast but the warlock did get 2 hit because he cursed the boss before the sunders but other then him no one died and i got a new dps staff :D

Do you really need 5 people for this quest? Could you do it with say, a tank, healer, and 1 or 2 dps who are fairly well geared (several kara-level epics each)?

When the ice block expires you are out of combat for a moment, just long enough for something like itemrack to change your gear. Very handy if your healer dies and you need to take over.

Just did it as a group of warlock(afflic), warlock(demo), warr, and hunter, all lvl 70. Got some help from 2 allies that were in the area ( we helped them when they did it earlier).

Even then, we barely killed the boss. I would say that a healer is definitely needed, but otherwise a normal tank and spank strategy works.

Seems bugged to us. We just tried it and 2 of us couldnt even target him. He just pounded 3 of the 5 in the group and they died and he disappeared.

Just did this 3-man.
Warrior, Shaman (Elemental) and Arcane/Frost mage.
Nothing specific to say. Just nuked him down after we had cleared the place from mobs.

Just 4-manned this. Druid(Myself) Holy Pally lock and Hunter. He spawned one add but did not use any sort of ability that moved me out of bear form. Fight took about 90-120 seconds.

About halfway through the fight, he spawned an add and gained what looks like a shadowpriest aura. He also became untargetable and wiped us. Bugged?

27/10-07 - still bugged. Talked to a GM about it, he said he'd look into it. Thats all the help I got.
We tried with only one person closing the powerfields, and with 3 of us closing one each. When we killed his add, we were unable to target him and he killed us, both times.

Huge potential problem with this quest. I had it sitting in my quest log for a long time before I finally got in a group to complete it. By that time, I no longer had the disruptor, but someone else did so we were able to complete the quest with no difficulties.

But I can't turn the quest in without the disruptor. The quest is marked as (complete) but I cannot turn it in. It looks like I'll have to abandon it and do it all over again.

If you're looking for the quest turn in, the image of Ameer hides in a portal about 56.8, 38.7. You need to open the portal to turn in the quest. And make sure you have the disruptor on you too!

Just did this quest last night with a feral druid (me), a resto druid, and rogue.

this quest is still bugged, but what ended up working was having the rogue take on the copy while i tank the other. when the copy vanished, the real one was still targetable and could take damage.

As a hunter I wouldn't be the last one to use the disruptor, because if you FD then the guy despawns.

It finally worked with 1 person using their disruptor at all spots, and people focusing on the add when it came out, not just the boss. I also (tank) moved out of the way of his explosion so I wasn't thrown in the air. Honestly don't know if any of those 3 things helped, but he didn't bug out when we did the combination of these things.

Ah yes. As has been mentioned earlier, this happens when not all the disruptors are set by the same person. Have one person set ALL the disruptors, or this may happen.
Be careful not to get too far away from the place he is captured. After he turned back into himself after splitting into his clones, we couldn't target him anymore, because the tank had pulled him very far away from his original "spawn" location. This may be a bug, but it happened twice for us before we could finally kill him.

Seems that if you follow all these rules, you'll be in good shape to kill this boss. I mean, alot of these are repeats, and only quotes from this "Thread", but I just decided to condense it into one easy to read list. Just do what this says, and you SHOULD be fine. If doing ALL OF THE ABOVE doesnt work, then nothing is a solution except pure luck. Good luck, and I hope you complete it, the reward is nice, especially as a 70. lulz.

Well, first time I did it he wasn't bugged at all, but now he is for sure.
After 50% or so he just isn't targettable and runs around killing people. Woooooohoo. :>

The first fight he bugged, resulting in him chain freezing myself (70 feral cat) and our healer, slaughtered us in a heartbeat and ignored the other three party members (who couldn't even see him).

We all logged in and out and while we were regrouping, an alliance group swept in and tried to take him out - I went in at the beginning and put about 8k in damage on him so when they died, he came straight for us and didn't reset - had an extremely easy time of finishing him at that point as his two clones were busy finishing off the healer of the alliance group.

He is still a little bugged as at 25 June.
We had to kill him twice when we were unable to target one of his clones (but it could still kill us)

Reason I am posting though is to warn ppl.

If you have dropped the gizmo. Abandon the quest and reacquire it BEFORE you kill the boss. (Obviously uyou can still do the quest soince other members of yr party will have the gadget but dont do it.)

You cannot turn in the quest without the gadget, and will have to abandon and reacquire after killing if you do not have it.

Sad but true.

That guy is very difficult, bugged or not. the first time we did it, he vanished completely. nice.........the next time we got him down then he ice blocked our healer and we wiped, then we had people wuss out and after about 1 hour of getting a better group together we took em down.

a tip: right when he spawns adds the main dude is untargetable for about 1-2 seconds, not a bug, just have the tank taunt and everyone dps down the adds.

We did this, me as Rogue, Rogue, priest(healing), Druid dps(innervateing also), Warrior tank, and a 70 hunter outside the party, I tanked the mofo for the last 3k, Evasion tank ftw :P

A Retri-Pally and I (Feral Druid) Duo'd this today. I just kept locked on the main guy and used rake when he had summons. This was the easiest of the "5-man" quests to duo out there, but we managed to get them done all in 1 sitting.

He is a ^&*!@ to kill, he hits real hard and at 50%, he summons elite adds. Trash mobs arround also respawn real fast so summon him fast after you cleared the area.

As of Jan 6, '08 there is still a glitch. The first round when he made his clone we killed the clone but couldn't target Salhadaar again. He wiped a hunter and the healer, the other two got a way.

The second time it was no problem. With a healer, tank and two CCs he's easy. The freezing makes it annoying sometimes though.

FYI - Took him down with Prot Pally 70, Holy Pally 70, BM Hunter 70 and a BM 68 Hunter. And the clone dies fast so you can just have one person in the group take care of the clone while everyone else kills Salhadaar.

So we kinda approached this fight without much of a clue of what to do.

So first off you have to deactivate the 3 hourglass looking things around him.. You need to clear the guards around them quickly and initiate the boss because they respawn fast.. I'd say about 5 minutes before they respawn.

So the fight is pretty simple.. he does a gravity flux type spell which tosses you up like 20 feet.. more annoying then anything.. did like 600 damage maybe.

At 50% he breaks up into illusions that don't have much health. The tank should stay on the giant darker version and everyone else just DPS down the adds.. they dont have much health. Not sure how much they hit for.

We had no problems with bugs/errors during the fight, so it was a pretty easy fight honestly.

Best to pull him off to the side of where he spawns, down the hill. To the south there's lots of room. The guards on the energy pylons respawn pretty quickly, especially if there are other players in the area. When Sal's health is about halfway down, he spawns two smaller, weaker clones of himself, who appear to start with a clean aggro table and thus may not head for the tank. DPS those down quickly and return to Sal. Sal also puts players in stasis pretty frequently for a few seconds, and it's often the main tank, so other players need to be prepared to take a hit or two. Stasis also removes all buffs, and drops feral druids back to caster form (be ready to press the bear button as the stasis comes to an end), and may change a warrior's stance, judging by posts below. The plus side of it is that it doesn't seem to wipe aggro. He returns to the tank after the stasis is over (although very high threat players might want to hold back a bit while the tank is in stasis). Finally, he has a pretty powerful knockback, usually used on the main tank, so watch out for the edge of the cliff. Fortunately, it doesn't appear to wipe aggro. Sal has about 200k health and his clones about 30k each, so be prepared for a longish fight.

He seems kind of bugged still...took us three tries today. Killed him with 4 of us, frost mage (me), warrior, boomkin druid (who was healing), and a hunter.

First time, we got him to 50%, he summoned his clone, we killed the clone, then he (or the other clone?) suddenly became untargettable and ran around wiping us.

Would recommend pulling him down to the little ledge behind him, as there are very fast repops, and if you're tanking, try not to let him smack you off the edge. Not sure if that was what triggered it, but he became untargettable after our warrior got knocked off.

First few times I tried this quest, the King bugged out and froze on me...Today though, we all tried to stand way back out of his initial aggro radius when he gets summoned and it worked. Right after you clear the adds in the area, get your tank to break the bindings and he'll go right to your tank, but have your tank stay back as well after he breaks the last one. Also, have no one target the King before he targets anyone in your group, just incase. Fight is pretty easy otherwise. Does a freeze to a random target which is similar to iceblock(makes you immune to everything but unable to move) for 4-5 seconds...Summons 2 adds when he gets low, but they don't hit very hard just keep em off the healer. King does not hit very hard at all but has a decent amount of HP's.

I think I may have a solution to this quest...try it out and see how it works for you...Make sure that one person uses the disruptor on all three whatever the hell you call them...then make sure that they are the closest person standing to the Nexus-King when he spawns. Also...make sure that no one is in stealth and make sure that rogues do not vanish, we found that when he targeted a rogue and they vanished he would bug out...worked for us twice in a row....wiped the first :) whatever...give this a shot see what happens...good luck

i dont have the protectorate disruptor not in the bank not in my bags a gamemaster told me they have a on going thing about this but no fix as of yet i was told to abandon the quest i have credit for killing him but can complete the gm told me to check on the forums to see if any players have had this happen to them the wow forum has nothing before i abandon and try and kill again can one got any thign that may help thanks

First try, he despawned after turning aggressive.

Second try, we aggroed it right away and the fight proceeded normally. Not too hard with a group of 70. He either spellsteal or debuff so at the end of the fight, all my buffs were gone. He also freeze you (think mage ice block) so having 2 healers might work better. Of course, have a real tank (feral druid or warrior). Just a normal long fight.

Broken 3 times for us last night...first time he aggroed me first (I placed the last disruptor) and we weren't really prepared, so I vanished and he just disappeared. Waited for him to pop up again, followed Grende's instructions and both times, he went pet on us (he followed the MT around, doing nothing). :(

I agree with Najir, he aggro'd our stealthed rogues at first and ended up following him around like a pet. We couldnt attack or anything, came here looked at quest and saw his post. We waited for quest to reset and with no rogues stealthed completed quest fine.

After 3 days of trying this %^&*! bugged quest thats what I can share with:

1. Deactivate the pylon from the left to the right
2. Only MT deactivates
3. For first 4-6 seconds no one targets boss, only MT
4. For first 4-6 seconds no one does anything (heal spells etc), only MT

Dunno if all this sh*t is neccessary or if it will work all the time but this is what we have done and finally were able to kill him so try this maybe you will have luck too :)

Despite this quest requiring level 68, the initial pre-quest requires level 70 so you're going to have to wait.

Soloable as a bear in raid gear. His aoe has a very small range so just run away a little. I went through 3 frenzied regens and tried stopping to heal with barkskin.. mostly didn't need due to improved leader of the pack
