Casters: The Shriekers will buff with a 75% damage reduction on the first type of magic class you attack them with, and then attack you back with the same class of magic...
i.e. you start with a fire attack, they will buff 75% fire reduction and start shooting fireballs.. etc.

Watch out for the Unstable Voidwraiths. Theres a chance, albeit small, that after they die their corpse will become "radioactive" for a short time, causing 1000 damage every second. You'll know the corpse is radioactive because it will glow purple.

The voidshrieker adapts to which damage you deal on first hit:
- your first hit is with holy damage? -> it will get "Damage Reduction: Holy" and he will smite you
- your first hit is with shadow damage? -> it will get "Damage Reduction: Shadow" and he will shadowbolt you

Just wanted to add that the Voidshriekers is using Psychic scream to witch can be a bit annoying for melee classes and hunters when they're fearing away your tank.

Useful trick I've noticed.

If the first attack stuns the Shrieker, it won't put up an immunity. I noticed this when I procced Impact from a Pyroblast, it didn't get the Fire Resist Debuff(annoying that it's a debuff, if it was a buff I could just ninja it with Spellsteal)

Another note to arcane mages:
Arcane Missiles will cause them to put up an arcane resist aura and cast arcane missiles, if you cast before another element(I use fire) hits them. Fireball, WAIT for it to hit, THEN cast AM.

As a paladin, The Voidshriekers seem to "absorb the energy of the attack" when I'm using Seal of the Crusader, even though I'm not actually doing anything but physical damage. They don't get the holy damage reduction debuff, but they start casting Holy Bolt, which is annoying.

As has been pointed out, the voidshriekers are really irritating as a paladin, but if you are also an engineer you can use a bomb to trigger fire immunity ;)

It is soloable, but it goes faster if you're more than one.

I was able to do this with me (Holy specced Paladin) and a Rogue. The Rogue basically made all the damage while I was standing there just looking dumb.

As said above, don't skip the quest. The questrewards in the end are insane.

Just did this quest and I was able to judge the voidshriekers with crusader or wisdom/light and then use seal of righteousness without the holy damage triggering an immunity.

Made it a little bit easier.

Note for (non-BE) Paladins

Go pickup some EZ-Thro Dynamite II from a friendly Engineer or the Auction Hall. Pop them with one of these first, make sure your Fire Resist Aura is active, and then go to town with your Holy damage.

Worked like a champ for me. Easily soloable this way.

Tips and hints on battling the Voidshriekers has been commented on to death, everyone knows that you need to "trick" them by opening with something other than your primary damage dealing school - but a small addendum for Warlocks.

Be careful with your Voidwalker - his Torment (and Suffering) spell with which he generates threat (his "taunt") is a shadow spell, and while it does no damage, it will trigger the Voidshrieker to go into anti-shadow mode. Unless you're Destro Fire, leave the Voidwalker on passive and make sure to open with a quick immolate before sending the pet in manually.

(Also, just to clarify, if you're thinking of letting him go into anti-shadow mode and using shadow ward, don't - again, unless you're Destro Fire. When they adapt to a school of magic they gain a buff that reduces their damage taken by that school by 75%.)

Also of note, weapon enchant procs do NOT appear to trigger the resistance. What a pity. As a paladin, I was hoping either my weapon with Lifestealing or Fiery might do the trick here. No dice. It appears to only be triggered by spells. (Holy Shield damage and Retribution aura DO trigger it.)

voidwrath dropped 6/12 (50%) of the time
voidshrieker dropped 2/8 (25%) of the time

total drop percentage was 40%

Night-Elf Feral druid pull Voidshrieker's with Faerie Fire, they will go nature-spellcasting then, but you have atleast +35 nature resistance (Race + Mark of the Wild)

A useful note for Hunters using the Steady/Auto Shot rotation; don't use Concussive or Arcane shots. The Arcane missles will play havoc with your Steady shot casting time if you're not careful. That or be ready to pull an Intimidate.

Watch out, the Unstable Voidwraiths occasionally leave behind a pillar of light (well, shadow) on the ground that deals 1000 damage per tick to you. So don't kill them on 900 HP like I did... :(

If you are a paladin, the voidshriekers will absorb your Holy damage, and you will die, if you try to use Holy damage. Try to avoid them, if possible, but if you're caught by one, turn off Retribution Aura (use Devotion Aura) immediately, and DO NOT APPLY OR JUDGE any seals! About the only way to beat these things is to apply Blessing of Strength and just hit them hard with a 2H weapon. NO SEALS! They will fear you, and if you can outlast them, you'll walk away with about 20% health. Since we need to be in melee range to hit them, they will do tremendous damage. Use the Insignia of the Alliance, if you have it handy. As another poster noted, the Unstable Voidwraiths pose no problem to us, and also drop the fragments for the quest.

The drop rate for me was okay it took about 20mins to finish. Although as a shadow priest it was harder to kill the Voidshriekers at first. They absorb what ever spell i hit them with first. So i would hit them with smite and it they would use that against me which my smite don't do much damage. Then I was able to use my other spells to kill them. Once I got my method the rest was cake. Then the follow up quest took 2secs to do. very easy.

Its a 27.5% droprate from Voidwraiths for Fragment of Dimenius.
And 37.5% for Voidshrikers.
Not bad at all.

1. Manaforge Ultris is at 62,40.

2. Go to the top, you'll see Voidshriekers and Unstable Voidwraiths. Kill these for the 8 pieces of shard needed.

3. The drop rate is very low. To give you an idea of how low it is, by the time I had all 8 pieces I had farmed enough mote of shadow for 3 Primal Shadow. 40-50 kills in total.

and if you are a paladin(retr pally still can do it, but it's a waste of mana), don't even bother to kill the Voidshrieker, go away and search for the unstable voids

Dear mages, be sure to hit with fireball if you are a frost mage (vice versa), they somehow become more resistant to the first spell of your choise. (they cast personal damage reduction aura matches to your very first spell)

If I only use shadow, all damage are reduced.

Get out of shadowform, Holy Fire to start. Then switch back to shadow. Now all shadow damage hit for full.

When you kill a Voidwraith make sure you back up a bit n see if there is a purple aura raidiating around the body going upward. If you stand in this aura you will have 1000 damage done to you per second...found this out the hard way, i thought they cast this on you before they died, was making me mad :(!

droprate was ok until i only needed two more. then they stopped dropping altogether. i circled the manaforge three times, clearing every void mob with no drops. retarded. i finally said screw it to do a 10 man mc run. havent been back.

Killed Both Voidshriekers and Unstable Voidwraiths, However No Drops with the Voidwraths.

Shriekers 17 Kills for the 8 Needed. Not actually many of them, however circulate the area with Flying mount, and shouldnt be too hard, Spawn Rate is quite fast also.

I usually have rejuv and 2-3 lifeblooms on me at all times so I don't have to worry about my health while I nuke 'em.
Usually eats up all my mana (and sometimes all my health), to kill one guy. I spirit-gen so I don't drink all my water.
Drop rate is intermittently sucky and all-right. Haven't had any drop off the Voidwraths, yet. Almost .5-way done. I'm just taking it slowly...

I started out experiencing the horrible drop rates that others posted here (8 kills, 1 fragment). Then I went to exactly the coords listed above: 65,42. If I stayed right in this spot and killed the 6 or so mobs between the pond and the building, I got a much better drop rate. When I wandered off they were horrible again. Don't know if this was just a fluke, but thought I'd mention it for others having trouble.

The voidshrieker are really tough when you're a prot warrior with bad gear ! They do lots of samage with their shadow bolt. What I did was to pummel them on their first cast, concussion blow on their second cast and then equip shield, turn defense stance (or battle) and shield bash on their 3rd cast (shield slam if you have enough rage ;) )

That way they do way less damage.

As others have said, the Voidshriekers absorb some of the damage that casters inflict.
The key is to use your secondary group of spells first, as the first spell cast determines which type the 'shrieker absorbs. It will then use that field of magic against you.

So fire mages cast a frost spell first and have frost ward up, frost mages cast a fire spell first and have fire ward up. Similar technique for warlocks and holy priests. Shadow priests will need to leave shadow form to cast their initial holy spell and then shift back.

This doesn't apply to Voidwraths, they are ordinary kills. And yes the drop rate is incredibly low. For me the Unstable Voidwraths around 61,37 dropped the most.

And yes, do watch out for the shaft of purple light on the spot where you killed them. It doesn't happen every time but if you're careful you can get close enough to loot without taking any damage.

Quick tip for paladins. If you start with hammer of justice, he will switch to holy but will NOT GET THE DAMAGE REDUCTION shield.

Agree with most here that the drop rate is abysmal, however... after about 25 kills (and no drops) around the west and north sides of the building I found more mobs and a better drop rate on the east and s/e sides of the manaforge... and got two drops off mobs in the manaforge. Might be RNG, or might be just a better place to farm. Not sure.

Professor Dabiri at the Protectorate Watch Post in Netherstorm wants you to recover 8 Fragments of Dimensius.

Atop Manaforge Ultris lies the tear in the nether that the void lord, Dimensius, came through. That tear provides Dimensius with a link to the void, rendering him immune to physical harm. If we can get a lock on the conduit that Dimensius is using to keep himself phased out of this plane of existence, we can destroy it and then destroy Dimensius.

To do this, we're going to first need you to collect fragments of Dimensius from the void creatures that he sends out to do his dirty work.
