This quest seems fun, but also seems bugged. On Feb 2 we were doing fine on the escort quest and got near the entrance, when the NPC said something like "thank you for escorting me but could you please help me free a few water elemental friends". Then she and the elementals froze and refused to move. About 5 minutes later the quest failed on us.

The general law of escort quests goes here: you don't need 2 players (like suggested) to do it. This quest is so easy, it's a laugh. The Earthmender does a chain lightning on your mob that nukes about 40% of it's healthpoints away. She is basically a shaman that drops totems and so on. She even heals you and herself etc. Just follow the lady, do some light DPS here and there and you are set. No worries about it at all. Well in fact, the only worry you have is not getting loot from the mobs as she often does more than 50% of the damage. Easy money/item.

Just did this, and after reading here how easy it is, i let the NPC do all the work.

I pressed / and walked somewhat behind her and she did all the work.

I guess this means that it is indeed soloable.

Bring some beefy water and food on this quest. The escort part of this quest is basically non-stop Coilskar Assassin spawns. The Earthmender can take care of them, but it's SLOW if you don't help. Slow even if you DO help considering she goes at a snail's pace and basically walks around the entire dungeon...

Tried this quest 30/3 and couldn't finish it. The npc disappeared right before the room with the water elementals. The quest didn't actually fail but I couldn't go on so I dropped it and tried again, same thing happened.

Solo'd w/ 70 warlock, very easy.
Along the way mobs will spawn from the quest itself so gotta kill those as well as already spawned mobs.
As said she does keep herself alive and does tons of damage but it goes faster if you help.
This quest wasn't bugged for me but it makes sense for others getting bugs since shadowmoon valley has random bugs in general IMO.

i put up a good earthshield on that lady, and i browsed the internet, catching up occasionally to reapply earthshield. shes pretty serious about escaping.

Quest completed without problems: 20 May 2007

1) Enter "Coilskar Cistern" at 52.8,25.8
2) Get to the bottom of the cave and to 51.9,18.4
3) Kill "Keeper of the Cistern"
4) Wait for "Earthmender Wilda <The Earthen Ring>" to get interactive, and accept the quest.

If your friends fails to accept simply wait, after a while you will free some small elementals and then make sure your friends are ready to accept the quest, she will then bug and go back to the start, and start walking to free the elementals... again. But the important thing is that everyone will then have the quest.

5) Kill mobs in her path, skin if possible for high selling Cobra Scales (<3)
6) When she reaches the exit you are done with the quest.

Deliver (both Alliance and Horde) at: The Altar of Damnation (43,45)
Npc: Earthmender Torlok <The Earthen Ring>

Very simple quest, I did it with just my Voidwalker as a level 68 Warlock.
All I did was put walk on, Throw a Life Siphon things she aggro'd then just wanded.
She heals herself, My pet, Me, and her elementals.
Pretty decent rewards for a level 68 too.

7/24/2007 Still bugs out sometimes. Got to the corner rounding out to the last hallway and she just stood there. Assasins would spawn and attack we'd kill em then the standing. Just waited in hopes of moving and then she despawned and I failed quest. Good luck.

I did this today, when we got to the elementals there were 2 snakes and a naga there, after we fought them she just went back towards the exit. Didnt even free the elementals.

But it was very easy to solo as a 70 Holy paladin. Didnt get too much loot though.

And now i have some new boots :-) (Not that i will use them as a healer, but when i solo, its nice to have some spell damage and stats.)

this quest is bugged! my and a friend did it and towards the end, everything despawned and reset!! it did not show as failed, or completed, its bugged!

Sadly, all the water elementals were dead by the time we got to the cave exit. :-)

This Escort quest is awesome for farming the cobras... just activate it and let him do all the work... when you get tot he cobra packs make sure you do more than 50% of the damage to each mob so you can skin them. after you get out, simply abandon the quest so you can use him again. might be an exploit, but its not really an error in the game mechanics... either way...

TIP: Resist the temptation to loot the corpses on the way, as she is bugged so she will run back (very quick by the way) and start attacking a respawned mob. Many Assassins will pop too so it'll be a long fight...but it's worth the gold reward. ^^

Tried this on Feb 23, 2008 and there was some ravager mob partway into the tunnel that evade-bugged on me. I walked past it fine, but Earthmender Wilda locked onto it and wouldn't move past it. I eventually gave up and abandoned the quest. On the upside, got 3 Cobra Scales out of it, so wasn't a total loss.

Same thing happened to me. I decided to open a ticket. I waited a while, about 4 total respawns, and nothing. I was only getting to loot one of the cobras but still ended up with 6 scales. Anyway, maybe half hour later we killed the flayer and finished the quest. No idea why, unless a Almighty GM touched me in his glory. Finished quest and got the follow on. You do not need to finish this one, you could also do The Hand of Gul'dan

Did this quest today. Attempted solo as a Holy Paladin. Didnt really have any problems with it . Once we got past the first room however Wilda just despawned for no reason, leaving me with a few mobs that she aggro'd.

The quest did not fail, however i had to abandon it

I seriously have no idea why this is a group quest, all you need to do is follow the mob, and if you really want to make it a challenge you can try hitting all the mobs before the npc does to make sure you can loot them.

I've fought tougher old ladies.

As of last night it wasn't bugged. No elites to fight, just be prepared to engage in combat with anything she comes close to. She does most of the fighting and holds her own quite well so don't be afraid to fight one while she fights another, she's got some pretty nice damage. At one point my hp fell to about 1500 and her totem healed me for 3500.

Let's see, what else . . . oh, the Coilskar Assassins spawn throughout the escort, one to two at a time. As a level 70 fire mage I was able to solo it easily, never felt there was a chance for failure. I had plenty of time to drink in between fights and even let her take a couple on her own while I medded up. She doesn't wait for you, but she's hardy enough to last while you rest. :)

The hardest part about doing this for me was downing the Cistern Keeper at the start. As a caster, I nuked the Keeper at the ledge it wanders around on, but I didn't do it fast enough and it ran and aggro'd the two snakes on me. After the Keeper dies, Wilda spawns so I ran and accepted the quest asap. The first thing Wilda did was to immediately heal me to full health and then aggro the snakes, so by far the most useful npc I've ever found in this game. XD The rest of the quest just involves following Wilda around and helping out if needed, so very easy and no bugs.

Nowadays it no longer seems bugged. Wilda is tough....I'd wander through da wildaness with her anytime.

I'm a 70 hunter going back to do some old quests. I'm not sure she needed my help at all....but my pet and I lent a hand. Healed her now and then with heavy netherweave....but I am not sure that was needed at all either.....just trying to be useful. <g> Some of her totems do heal.

Even had time to skin a couple cobras (got one cobrascale - lucky) Didn't really have to drink because my autoshot was all that was needed...

All in all, for a level 70 this was a pleasant and fun quest. Paid 22 gold and change. And those green shoulders with a total of 76ap are outstanding for a hunter.

Highly recommended.

PS one other great thing about Wilda is this. In many other escort quests, if I got swarmed the NPC would just keep on walking. Wilda will backup and help.
And I will echo a comment by another....if a player had no great trouble getting back to Wilda, that player will have even less trouble getting out.

This message is for people having trouble with Shadowmoon Valley - Coilskar Point Escort bugging out.

1) What triggers the bug? After failing a couple of times, I believe I have discovered what triggers it: There is a NPC which triggers the start of the event called "Keeper of the Cistern" who has a shorter respawn time than the duration of the escort, if someone else kills that NPC while you are doing the escort, Earthmender Wilda (Orc being escorted) will get stuck, bug out and reset after 10-20 minutes.

2) How do I know if it is bugged? If you see this message after the very first time when you pick the quest: "Thank you, kind soul. You have freed me from the watery prison of Coilskar but many more are being held prisoner nearby. Will you assist me in freeing them as well?" Then someone else have killed the NPC and the Orc will stuck.

3) How do I fix it? If you get away from the NPC it will fail the quest and despawn/respawn faster, if you are stubborn and stay alongside Earthmender Wilder it could take up to 20 minutes to despawn. Another thing you can do is if you see someone enter the cave whisper them: Please don't kill "Keeper of the Cistern" NPC until Earthmender Wilda is in front of her or the escort quest will fail and reset. This relies on people not being #$%^&*!s or listening to you but it is what it is until Blizzard fixes it.

Thank the Earthmother! I parted ways with the others several days ago. I was intent on discovering the source of the disturbance that the spirits of water were feeling. My search led me to Coilskar where I discovered that the naga were befouling the water supply of Shadowmoon Valley.

Unfortunately, I was discovered and taken prisoner. There's no telling what ghastly things they had in store for me.

We must leave this place! Help me escape and then seek out Torlok at the Altar of Damnation.
