Nice. One-handed and 1.9 attack speed makes this great for off-hand. Vanquisher's Sword in main hand and you'll be all set as a hunter/rogue/warrior
This quest can be completed by a full group of level 40's, or below. We started this quest a few weeks a go and as we leveled up we moved from instance to instace. There are 4 instances you must go through to complete this quest. The first is an AE instance (to the left when entering the area), bring an AE group. A level 35 or lower group can do this one. Next you move on to the second instance(to the right). I'd recommend a 35+ group here, you clear everything, just watch out monks are tough. The boss here drops great stuff and when he's dead you need to loot the chest behind him to get the key to enter the final 2 instances(all in group should get for future fun in SM). The key is the Scarlet Key. These two instances are the easy ones. Now you move to the harder stuff. The instance on the right behind the door that requires the key is the third instance (The Armory) and the one on the left is the fourth and final instance (The Cath.). Elites are now 36-38 and the boss of the third instance is a level 40 mob with an AE. This boss is the only one we had trouble with, but that was because we didnt know he had an AE . The final instance we have attempted, and won, only once. It is fairly easy, but there are two elite mobs you need to fight here, both of which are 42. Good luck and remember to Have Fun and dont Ninja!!! No one likes a Ninja!!!

I never did horde side of SM but these are mostly the same with alliance. They are good as vanquisher sword which i love on my 45 pally. Great DPS and good for rogues off hand. (speaking of 1h sword)

No need to do graveyard (Left instance portal)..

The ones needed are:
Libary (Right instance portal)
- Houndmaster Loksey

Armory (Right door)
- Herod

Cathedral (Left door)
- High Inquisitor Whitemane
- Scarlet Commander Mograine

Note: you need to do libary to get the key before you can open the doors to armory and cath..
The key is in a box standing on the floor in the room where Doan is..

if you look closer at this you do NOT have to do graveyard.....graveyard is only for teh rare spawns, who drops nice....even boss is crap loot......

Don't forget the key when you enter lib (left portal). The key is in the room where the boss is, in a box behind him it is unilimited so all the members from the group can take it (don't need of /roll :)).

This is a good quest to keep in your log if you have the room, and just work on whenever you feel like doing an SM instance.
If you get lucky enough to get some good groups, this quest won't even be on your mind.
Pretty easy XP, relatively.

That is because in the Scarlet part of Stratholme there are locked doors which require the very same Scarlet Key.

It's quite a funny thought considering the Scarlet Crusade uses the same lock for everything *cough*

Choosing reward from this quest is kinda hard. Both the neck and the offhand are reasonable rewards for a caster. A couple of runs through Scarlet Monastry will probably get you better items from boss drops anyway though so go with the one you didn't get or go again if you left emptyhanded and save the turn-in for later.

The cathedral is your tutorial for later-game instances. All you screaming and whining and declaring it a certainty that people come on here and post BS just to insult you, get a clue grow up and pay attention, cos otherwise you're gonna have a reeeeal hard time in the *really* hard stuff to say nothing of endgame.

First thing, for those new: The cathedral instance is a BIG HONKIN PLACE where somewhere between 4 and 5 bajillion Scarlet loonies are all in rows praying. However, being nice devoted loonies they won't mind at all if the highest level member of your group - whatever that level may be, tho i *really* don't recommend below mid-30s for this role - goes in, yells "BOOGA BOOGA!" and runs back out to the lawn. Not the bloody DOORS, not the STEPS, THE LAWN, OKAY? You don't want to the first mortally wounded monk to bring 5 friends with only 5 steps of "aiiigh they're gonna kill me!"

Everyone else, and i mean EVERYONE, stays ON THE LAWN.. again, say it with me: "not the doors, not the steps, THE LAWN!"

No one else comes up the steps. Not the 38 mage, not the rogue who thinks noone can see him, not the pally who thinks he's indestructable and who should be the one doing the pulling anyway ,-), no one.

This will take a long. Bloody. Time. After the mid is mostly cleared, go up the left side... clear that wing... go up the right side... clear THAT wing.. while everyone tries to become one with the walls. Oh, if you see any suspicious torches or lanterns in the chamber in the right wing, check it out.

The reason for this procedure is that if you attack Morgraine at any time, EVERY LIVING SCARLET IN THE CATHEDRAL COMES DOWN ON YOUR HEAD LIKE A SUICIDAL TAUREN JUMPING OFF THE THOUSAND NEEDLES.

No kidding. If you're REALLY bored, try it sometime, oughtta make a really funny screenshot...

Whitemane will eventually be alone. You will kill his silly ass. His wife will become irate and make an appearance and ress him.

Kill her and only her. When she's toast, THEN worry about morgraine. Probably you'll have everyone wailing on her except the tank drawing Morgraine's aggro, and the healer warily keeping an eye on everyone.

Tada! Enjoy your shiny new blue drops.

All the people yelling about how impossible this is, i'm sorry to say, suck, and have probably been the aggro-magnets-of-doom every party has nightmares about. But this is your chance to figure it out and not get banned from endgame instances! So take the opportunity for what it is.

Houndmaster is in library
High Inquisitor and Scarlet Commander are in Cath.
Herod is in armoury

Me (lvl 38 hunter) was in a group with 4 other hunters and we took Herod easily. 5 DPS it was crazy, if the hunter would attract aggro we'd use feign death so our pet would attract the aggro.

After we beat him we went to the houndmaster, a lvl 44 hunter could prolly solo him.

Houndmaster Locksley is in the Library. We just had the warrior keep his attention while the rest of the group picked off the hounds one by one. Pretty easy.

Herod is in the Armory. This guy is a bit more tricky. Have the tank grab aggro obviously, and then BE SURE to back off when he yells "Blades of Light!" because he goes into some spinny move that will tear you appart if you are close to him. Use these times to get the group healed. Goes into some berserk mode at about half life and hits a lot harder! Keep healing when he does the spinny move and you will be fine. After he dies about 20 non-elite trainees run into the room. They drop like flies with AOE!

The Scarlet Commander guy is in the Cathedral. MAKE SURE, MAKE SURE, MAKE SURE, that you have killed all the other guys in the Cathedral, otherwise when he yells you will be looking at him and 30 Lunatics charging at you. But if hes solo then just tear him apart.

Inquisitor girl is in the Cathedral after you kill The Scarlet Commander. Once he is dead she comes out and starts casting damaging spells. Once she gets to about a Third of her life she stuns the whole party and rezzes the first boss. Have the tank keep the first boss busy while the rest of the group plows through the girl. Once the girl is dead, do the same thing for the Commander again. Dying hasnt made him stroner...

Those are all the bosses needed to complete the quest. Enjoy your new rewards!

This quest is available for Alliance, but is not in Thottbot. The quest is the same (kill those four people), but the rewards are different (choose one of four).

The quest chain starts in Desolace with Brother Anton. He gives you a quest to kill 30 Undead Ravagers. After completing the quest, he sends you to Southshore with a letter of recommendation. Upon turning that in, you get the quest to go into SM and kill the four bosses.

There are four quest rewards to choose from. I don't remember the other three, but the dagger option is *exactly* the same as the Coldrage Dagger, but with a different proc. Same damage, same 1.50 weapon speed. Very nice OH dagger, and as a quest reward is guaranteed as opposed to Coldrage (I ran RFD three times and it never dropped).

Trying to get this quest and the items added to Thottbot, but if you are an Alli dagger rogue, this is very much worth doing.

Im a 44 warlock and i still farm SM with my guildies occassionally, as i have finished the quest and moved on to greater things.

For horde players (dont know alliance, never played) the quest begins with varimathras the dreadlord in UC and although its red when you get it, you can start in the library with loskey and getting the key to armory and cathedral.

Loskey- No big deal really, have a tank or pet hold him while you deal with the dogs.Fear if you cleared the courtyard outside his room.

Herod- Armory is a bit more tricky, as mobs are lvs 37-40 and packed in groups of 4-5.Keep aggro away from your dps and you are good.Herod owns cloth with his "Blades of Light!" so keep away as far as you can and just burn him down.Hes immune to magic when he spins so just back away and heal.

Morgaine/Whitemane- Long ass pulls from the cathedral onto the lawn will do the trick.And she WILL put everyone to sleep no matter how far away from her you are, just kill them both again.AND clear the cathedral BEFORE the final fight.I know its been said but there is always the impatient ass who wont listen to reason, which is if you lay a finger on Morgaine, each and every mob in there will run on you.Kill them all first, including the side rooms.

Conclusion-Team work,speed and crowd control are the game here.Designate roles, manage your aggro,
keep mobs from running away and watch for respawns, as in the cathedral atleast you will be standing in one place for a great deal of time.
Not too hard with the right group to clear.Good luck-FOR THE HORDE!

This quest can be soloed as 48 combat rogue.

Hound master is cake, You can stealth all the way to him. Just go in with blade fury/adrenaline & kill the hounds first then him (with sinister strike & eviscerate). Use evasion/talisman etc if you want, can't remember if I did.

Herod has a bucket load of health but he is big & dumb. I opened with garrote then hit blade fury & adrenaline straight away & spam as many sinisters as poss b4 he starts his whirlwind attack, if your lucky you will get an eviscerate off b4 he does his aoe, if not just move away & get him with it when he resumes attacking you. For the second attack I used evasion & spamed more sinisters, moved away for aoe & when he attacked 3rd time I used defilers talisman & a pot, still just doing ss & eviscerate for dps. Moved away again, next attack you will take a bit of damage with no protection tricks left but don't panic, the pot combined with your other previous tricks should see you no more than 1/2 health down. When he goes into his next aoe, get clear & use a heavy runecloth bandage, he should be almost dead/if not already by now, finish him! Always move away 'as soon as he starts' his aoe & you should be fine.

Last 2 are a $%^&*, because you have to clear the whole monastery first :-/ Mobs are easy, just try to make sure you don’t agro to many, save blade fury in case you do & make sure you use crippling poison while clearing. I opened on morg with garrote & pretty sure I used defilers talisman & dpsed as fast as I could (sinister & eviscerate). If you’re lucky you will kill him b4 he bubbles, if not dw, just ride it through. After he dies get clear straight away & his hoe wont attack you, bandage up then move in & spam sinisters/eviscerate till she stuns you. After she rez him get them close together & hit blade fury, adrenaline & evasion. Focus fire on her, he will of course take damage too. She goes down pretty fast (morg told me this earlier) use a pot if you have to, I usually need 1. After she dies finish off morg, he shouldn't have to much health left from blade fury hits but will have no combos on him, he will more than likely bubble again which can be a bit of a dicey moment, you can use sprint for this & stay clear till his bubble bursts then finish him off.

Depends really. The sword is fantastic for tanking Warriors/Pallys & the sword of choice for many lvls for prot grinding pallys, it's also an excellent rogue offhand.

The 2H axe alli can get is second only to Pendulum of Doom in the 39 bracket. Excellent for Warriors/Pallys/Shammys/^&*!@#$s.

I use the sword on my pally who is 38 now with a feiry chant (lifestealing would be better) I can solo gy lib & arms. Haven't tried cath yet but think I could do that too with careful pulls.

BM Hunter can solo this entire quest as low as 40. Never more than 3 mobs in a pull so as long as you keep 1 trapped, your pet will live through a beating from 2 mobs.

Lib & GY are simple, pays to skip the group of 4 in gy (near 1st boss).

Hound master is a bit tricky, I tried killing hounds first but imo killing houndmaster 1'st & fast with rapid fire up works better. Send in pet with intimidate & beast wrath so you can unload dps without pulling agro, drop a trap & hit multi on him as well, this traps 1 dog & just let the other 2 dps you for a little bit while you burn down houndmaster. FD when health is dropping. After he's dead you should be able to have pet tank 2 of the dogs while other is trapped.

With Herod, it's hard for your pet to avoid his aoe, even when you click passive he still tends to get hit 1 or 2 times. This is what I was doing @ first but next run I just kept pet on him & unloaded the dps till I pulled him off pet, then I clicked passive/stay & let mend pet tick over a bit while I dodged Herod (drop off ledge) then fd & pet tank again. Just put pet on agressive for adds, he'll eat them real fast (& you can still loot them for some reason).

For Morg & Whitemane, just use auto & mend pet to start. Try to get a mend pet off before she stuns (this will heal pet to full while she rez Morg). Sick pet on morg with an intimidate & a growl, then sick him onto Whitemane with beast wrath & unload with rapid fire & all your dps shots (multi shouldn't pull Morg with 2 taunts on him). Once she's dead burn down Morg & you're all done :-)

completed the quest today very nice sword good speed to can't wait to try out in pvp, did cath with 34 priest, 38 priest, 40 rogue, 41 warlock and me 37 warrior :)

Oops , i soloed this quest with my 10 lvl mage , but I took the Vanquisher's Sword ... Is there some way to turn the time back and take Dragon's Blood ?....................hic!

Noob Q, but here goes...is this instance only available for horde, for example, only if you get this quest can you go in the instance? I'm alliance (lvl 33 human Palladin) with 2 of the cheaper pieces of the Scarlet item set, wanting to get drops from a few dudes in the monastary - I'm not quite leveled up enough to explore for the instance...think I tried going in the undercity and was chased off quickly. But if the instance is there for alliance too, maybe I can work on this set without spending big bucks at the auction.

Every fight was done by members of this group as we all leveled up over a period of about a week. We started with our warrior being 37 and everyone else being 33. (We had also leveled up solo on our own, doing the instance when we were all on) We finished the quest as a 42 warrior, 38 shaman, 38 rogue, 38 warlock and 36 shaman.

When i tried this instance the 1st time our group was

Tauren Shaman lvl 51
Troll Mage lvl 45
Orc Hunter lvl 34(me)
Troll Mage lvl 34
Undead Rogue lvl 33
Note: we did the library instance(the 1 to the right)
intresting indeed. Basically i was range attacking with the mages while the shaman and rogue and my pet meleed. When we got to the part where like 5 guys attack you(i think they were like lvl 35-37 chaplains and monks) we faced some setbacks. The shaman was put in a pretty crappy spot because he had to worry about healing the rest of us when we had to take them on each on our own. This is a premiere example of why for a good balanced group you'll need some meleers, or some tanks. We basically had a little too much ranged attacking, the rogue couldnt take on multiple mobs at once. So we winged it ,but then people had to go and we just called it quits. So someone who is strong enough to assist the tank with melee is good to have.Less stress on shamans that have to heal people

Is the key in a box? or on the Boss? We killed him, but no key. Also, what are you supposed to get out of the graveyard, anything?

Ok, this sux.
I have alliance 39 rogue sword from this quest would be nice, much better than from alliance version of quest.I rather have 9 strenth and 4 agy than 5 more stamina and spirit(wtf, why spirit on sword o.O).
Another thing is Baelog in Uldaman, which can only be killed by horde and he drops really nice sword for rogue, but again, only horde can kill Baelog, and we from alliance get some stupid quest.

First time I did SM (didn't bother with graveyard on left side) i did it with 4 real-life friends. One of us had been there before.

We where:
36 rogue (me)
36 pally
36 warrior (best tank I've ever grouped with)
36 hunter
36 druid

We wiped 1st time at cath-bosses, killed them the 2nd try. it was CLOSE, however.

We had played together every week since we where lvl 10, and was a really coordinated group (had also done all previous instances together).

A coordinated and well-balanced team, where everybody knows their place and tasks, can do this at 36. Stop calling people liars.

Whilst the Dark Lady tends to the pressing issue of the Lich King's advance to the north, I am seeing to it that matters closer to home are being taken care of accordingly.

No doubt, the human pests who call themselves the Scarlet Crusade are proving to be the sharpest thorn in our side domestically. Tirisfal Glades is literally crawling with the little red ants.

Travel to the Monastery, <class>, and lay waste to High Inquisitor Whitemane and her top lieutenants.
