It's worth noting that the drop rate on this quest is somewhat less than desirable, so if it's taking you forever, it's probably not because you're doing anything wrong. I killed a whole lot of these guys before I got all my blood. Also, there is a 'bug' or perhaps a feature that some mobs in here spawn instantly after they're killed. Not quickly, but seriously, instantly. There was this one caster in a hut that I killed, the ones with the two skeletons, and every time I killed that caster it would immediately show up again, before I could kill the two skellies. This of course left me with 4 skeletons and a caster, and that was a pain. :(

They must be trying to make sure that they don't run out of mobs, which I appreciate, but it was a little crazy making.

When you use the Cauldron, make sure you clear the surrounding area. Every time you boil 1 blood you get a mess of "Cursed Scarabs" that come out. Most of them are harmless, but a few are "red." They're easy kills, but annoying.

A good way to escape from the bugs is just run up the hill right when you boil the blood. Wait for them to despawn then go do it again. It takes about 5-10 seconds for them to despawn.

Tip: if you stand at the very edge of the little hill near the cauldron, you can boil your blood out of range of the scarabs that spawn.

As a shaman, you can throw down your stoneclaw before boiling the blood, and then throw down your fire nova after the bugs spawn. Kills em.

1) Watch out for the Fel Reaver here

2) The scarabs disappear after a few seconds - boil a blood, back away quickly, watch out for other mobs, and wait for the cursed scarabs to die out. Easy as pie.

Definitely the worse quest in WoW, at least that I have ever seen. The blood isn't THAT hard to get. I picked up a few, and then I grouped with some people in the area. They had a real hard time trying to get it but I didn't have too much of a problem. But, one problem that seems to arise is that if you are in a group, if you try to loot a corpse and it has the quest item on it and you DO NOT take it, trying to get your group member to take it seems to result in them not being able to loot it despite it being there.

The mobs aren't that bad. But like everything else in Hellfire they are tightly packed. However the other major problem with this quest is the cauldron you need to boil the blood in has several Necrolyte mobs around it. These guys cast fireballs that hit for several hundred fire damage and have what seems to be an army of skeletons at their command. These guys are extremely annoying, especially soloing. Not to mention that constantly patrolling the area are grunts or the mobs on wolves. So it wouldn't be hard to imagine you trying to kill a Necrolyte and wind up with a wolf, his rider and a grunt all trying to kill you.

Oh but wait there's more! Yes, because after you get all of the blood you need to boil it ONE AT A DAMN TIME. YES, TWELVE times. You don't just toss it all in at once and it says 'quest complete'. No you must clear away all mobs, put the blood in one at a time, wait for the scarabs to dissapear or kill them, then repeat eleven more times. Don't even think of doing more then one at a time because the scarabs that spawn will end up killing you. And let's not forget if you didn't clear all the fel orcs they could easily be aggroed by the scarabs.

If in a group then each of you needs to do this boiling, individually, for each one. However you may, "MAY' be able to get away with two members doing theirs at the same time as long as you run away from the cauldron. Be warned though there are MORE MOBS in the direction you would generally run (west of the cauldron) so be careful you don't aggro them.

And the reward?

90 SILVER! That didn't even make up for my repair bill on this one. If you really wanna do the chain, approach this quest with caution, a good group, and maybe a drink or smoke to keep ya calm. And watch out for those damned boars to.

Neat trick. After I got all my blood, I stood at 65.4, 71.7 on a small rise. I faced the kettle, ran forward and clicked on it. While it shook, I just backed up to my spot. The bugs left me alone, and the roving patrols of orcs on worgs never even came near me. One Grunt did spawn on the hill during the time I was doing the boiling, and a Necrolyte spawned in the purple casting circle. Both were easy kills and spawned once each. Better than fighting tons of orcs to do this quest.

The coords were correct as stated above ( 65, 71 ) but this quest was very hard for me. ( 59 undead priest) It did seem that the boiling blood was dropping more often off of the "Bleeding Hollow grunts" (however i guess one explanation of why i found it to be so difficult is that my spec is holy but i still seemed to aggro everything and would end up with multi mobs on me) Be Careful Everyone :)

this was tedious and i died 6x mostly becuase i was nearby the cauldron and a be paladin would drag all the mobs past me run away and id end up with them agro on me..... then she would put in her blood ...

Peons had the best drop rate for me, over 50%. The cauldron wasn't that hard, but mostly because a pally and a mage cleared the area and the mage spammed AE to kill the cockroaches :)

drop rate for me was around 50% and you can get them off ANY of the boiling blood orcs. You guys must have extremely bad luck, got my stack of 12 in about 20 minutes

The drop rate is bad enough but the respawn rate is worse. It seems like it drops more often from the grunts for me.

I have yet to finish this quest, just because how rough it is once you actually have to go to the cauldron, but I wanted to say something about the drop rate of the blood.

I might be wrong, but the drop rate increased for me when grinding on the grunts and tormentors (the guys on the wolves), whereas when I just killed peons, the drop rate was pretty horrible.

It makes sense to go after the grunts and tormentors anyway, since you're bound to run into them if you grind on peons.

I got approximately 50,000xp through sheer grinding during the course of this quest. And my problem wasn't the droprate - it was getting to the damn cauldron.

The drop rate isn't great, but it's a long way off the worst I've done. I got about one drop off every 6 or 7, with the Riders being the most frequent droppers.

However in the course of trying to get to the cauldron to boil the damn blood, I killed enough mobs to end up with another 5 blood surplus (i.e an extra 30-35 mobs). There was a patroling eye, 4 or 5 separate riders, at least 2 or 3 patrolling grunts, the grunt by the cauldron and the spellcaster with his 2 skeletons. At one point I had 8 corpses littered around the edge of the cauldron, and all I was trying to do was boil the damn blood and get out of there.

If you love grinding towards a quest goal and then being foiled with the end in sight, this is the quest for you. By the end of it I felt like some sorta cliche movie villain ("I'll get you next time Mr. Cauldron!").

If you value your sanity, then either do it in a group or during a peak server time so that more people are there to keep the numbers down (I started doing it at about 3am which probably didn't help with this quest).

Also, you're vastly better off to collect all the blood prior to trying to take control of the cauldron area, then boiling it all one after another (with a brief break each time to stand back & let the cockroach things disperse).

If you stand where the grunt by the cauldron regens & stay as far back as possible, you should substantially reduce how frequently you aggro the patrols. You'll probably have to deal with him regening once or twice, but it beats the alternative.

6600xp for that quest, yet earlier quests here that were much easier give you around 9000xp. Something not right. Oh well it's done. Next.

For those noobs out there like me that dont read the quest text. You need to go to the area around the cauldron and kill Orcs to get blood. After you get the blood then you need to go to the cauldron to convert it.

Either the drop rate is really low or you can only have one unconverted blood at a time in your inventory.

I dunno, just did this quest at Zeth'Gor and the drop rate was like 25% for me, maybe better. Got 12 blood, all in inventory at the same time, in about 25 min.

Little bugs will pour out of the thing when you put your blood in there. Just back off a little and they'll despawn. They have almost NO agro range. There's a big rock just to the southwest of the cauldron. That's about where the safe zone is. Watch your back for respawns.

People complain about the low drop rate and yes if you are in a hurry to get out of Hellfire then this will hold you up for an hour. Grinding the orcs ain't such a bad thing though and when combined with the other questlines like kill the Worg Master then you will get plenty of blood, XP and loot (2 blues and 3 green BOEs for me so far). The cauldron is tricky but my tactic (having the advantage of being a druid - stealth and travelform) has been to clear the area to the north and slightly west of the cauldron - ingorning most of the patrols but certainly killing the odd roaming boar and the peon at the broken wheels. I then engage the summoner kill him and his skeletons, throw in the blood and run NW to the wheels or due north. The bugs don't aggro and disappear within 20-30 seconds if that. Rinse repeat the trhow-and-run tactic until you are about 8 into the boiling process at which point you will have to clear the respawns. The clearing of the area to the north and west is crucial AS if you aggro one of the many patrols you will only have them to fight. If you run and the boars and the peon and the patrol are all on you then I suggest you stagger to a good spot to die.

Edit: the drop rate appeared to be even between all the various mobs

To complete this quest you need to use Bleeding Hollow Blood at the Cursed Cauldron to make Boiled Blood.

First of all you need to collect 12 Bleeding Hollow Blood from orcs around Zeth'Gor - Bleeding Hollow Grunt, Bleeding Hollow Peon etc.
After collecting enough of blood samples make your way to the west of Zeth'Gor, there is the Cursed Cauldron below the hill.
Click to the cauldron while carrying Bleeding Hollow Blood to make Boiled Blood. Beware of bugs spawning on every cauldron use.

I need more for study. Go gather Bleeding Hollow blood from the orcs in Zeth'Gor. When you've gathered the blood, bring it to their cursed cauldron and boil it. Bring me the boiled blood.
