Just do as requested. Lay it at the other end of the bridge, get some distance and wait for the elf and his mounted bodyguard to appear. After an exchange the bodyguard will vanish and when the elf goes for the bloodthistle, get him!

Worth noting that the body guard won't go if your stood to close so make sure your stood about half way on the bridge other then that the guy dies easy.

The Cipher of Damnation is an extremely long quest line in Shadowmoon Valley. It is a prerequisite for attunement to The Eye in Tempest Keep and Mount Hyjal in Caverns of time.

After completing the quest, you will get a message in the mail from Khadgar. If you go to Shattrath, he will tell you to talk to A'Dal, who unlocks the the three Trials. These are prerequisites for attunement to The Eye in Tempest Keep and Mount Hyjal in Caverns of time.

I tried hiding in the ruins near the end of the bridge and the bodyguard wouldn't leave. I ended up going UNDER the bridge and walk around to make the bodyguard leave. So give that a try if its giving you a problem.

I dropped the Bloodthistle, but he didn't drop the orders, only some silver. Maybe it was because I was in a Karazhan raid at the moment?

BTW, take off your Shadowmoon Valley helm that allows you to see ghosts. I was standing on the bridge about to fight the guy, and the patrol on horses appeared and mowed me down.

In the event you die, DONT drop the quest, just back up and speak to Borak and he will give you another bundle of Bloodthistle.

His bodyguard hits hard and will kill most people before they get away - even mounted players. And since you can get an infinite amount of bundles to start the event, you can have hours of fun watching the bodyguard at work from your flying mount ^^

Simple quest the elite leaves the whole quest is five feet away...very easy although he is immune to sap, gouge, and kidney punch.

Blood Lord Zarath says: What is it, my lord?
Envoy Icarius says: Zarath you must return to the Black Temple at once! I... I seem to have misplaced Lord Illidan's orders. Quickly!
Blood Lord Zarath says: My lord, surely you do not expect me to leave you unattended. Lord Illidan would have my head if anything were to happen to you.
Envoy Icarius says: Zarath, I am perfectly capable of making it up this road to Eclipse Point. If we do not deliver the missive, Lord Illidan will have both of our heads! You are dismissed!
Blood Lord Zarath says: As you wish, my lord.
Envoy Icarius says: Ah, sweet, sweet bloodthistle... Probably left behind by one of those filthy addicts at Eclipse Point.

Post below says it all, quick & easy gold. Just one thing - you can't target him until he grabs the herb, until then he's friendly - though red. He must have a "nasty" habit! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

If you for some reason need more Bloodthistle, just go back and speak to Borak - he'll give you some (wish he'd just given it to me in the first place!).

It's not 100% drop... killed the guy he didnt drop anythin but silver.

Now, take this bundle and place it at the other end of this bridge. When the envoy makes his daily rounds, he will be compelled to pick it up - without his bodyguard. You see, blood elves look down upon bloodthistle addicts. If any of his compatriots ever found out...

All you need to do is lie in wait for him to dismiss his bodyguard. When he is alone, make your strike! Kill him and take the missive.
