Right outside of town kill the guys with the infernals at 34, 34 and make sure you pickup the ashes on the ground they are for another quest.

Infernals are right outside, but don't bother killing the ones that are halfway dead. Most of the time they don't count towards your quest goal. Pick the ones that have over half of their health left at least and kill them. It's also handy to stand near or drag them back to the guards around that are killing them.

I've killed like 20 of these guys, yet I get no credit. Whats up with that. I start shooting at them before they attack anyone else, I even try shooting them the second that they pop, but no joy. I have also just wandered close and let them attack me.

These infernals are a great way to level melee weapon skill. The Scouts tank for you while you wail on them building skill. You don't even have to move when one dies, just right click when the next one spawns. FYI, as another commenter stated, you do not get kill credit for the quest unless you draw aggro at some point before they die.
