You can find a large camp of felfire diemetradons in between Legion Hold and The Deathforge. However, these seem to have a really low drop rate.

There is a heavy concentration of Felfire Diemetradons at 45, 61 but the drop rate is horrible. It took me about 120 of them to get the 8 spleens.

The drop rate is very low as mentioned above. Sometimes you might get lucky. I killed about 30 before I got my first one. There's another quest you can in the same area: "A Ghost in the Machine." which are around the Felfires.

They drop the spleen after their backs start the green fire. It makes a little bit of sense since they are supposed to be almost fully cooked according to the quest. I took my time killing them until they were on fire and then they dropped the spleen about every other one.

For me it seemed like the drops were better with the fire (when I tried it, it worked every time except a few that were borderline), but I had already collected 3 or 4 before reading this...

Those were w/o the fire, as I wasn't bursting enough to get them down until I read this and tried it.

Did not have a problem at all they all droped i just made sure they were still in the green lava!

This is such an annoying quest. I did it at 70 on my lock, just for the cash, but I was killing them way too fast. I literally had to stick *one* dot on them and wait for it to die to get it down slow enough for the fire thing to start.

I didn't get a single drop from 15 mobs until I waited till their backs were on fire.

There is never a correlation between a mob's action and an item dropping. Items have a set drop rate percentage. On another note, does anyone know if these drop off the Greater Felfire Diemetradons? I killed a few but none of the spleens dropped.

29 , 38 and 40,41 ull find them near those green Liquids or whatever they are around the area ;) Goodluck

ok, the first 26 kills I didnt get anything, got one the 27th, next 20 kills i still havent gotten anything. Great quest to do if you're patient, because i've gotten ~ 70,000 xp from this quest! I found a steady stream of them near the doomforge alliance tower. Don't reccomend this quest if you're in for quick quest xp.

was about 25%. Not great, but not enough to get me to give up the quest. And as many have said, doing this with "A Ghost in the Machine" is like getting twice the XP for the same amount of work. The lava lake around (31, 38) teems with the proper mobs, and a little Fire resistance goes a long way. Thery also don't have any ranged attacks, so if you see one in the lava itself, just shoot it to get it to come to you.

Killed 22 to get the 8 around 30.39 Any of the large green pools in the area should work other than the one right by Legion Hold.

About 31,40 Lake of lava, around the southern side, lots of ashes and felfire's. drop rate sucked at first but got better. took about 30 kills

I did it in about 15 kills; my friend had them in 16. So the droprate isn't too bad :)

Just make sure you don't stay in the green 'lava' too long - it burns you for up to 700 damage!

Notice that the GREATER FELFIRE DIEMATRON does NOT drop these things, I killed a couple of dozen when I realized this. the normal diematrons neer 30.38 do.

at 46,60 I found both lots of Diematrons with good dropate (about 3/5 dropped), and a lot of ashes.. so 2 quests in one... Good spot :)

Drop rate about 1 in 3 for me. 45,62. Lots of everburning ash around if you're doing A Ghost in the Machine too.

UPDATE: Okay, make that 1 in 4. Still, not too bad.

Horrible droprate, dropped one on first kill, then I had to kill 12 mobs to get the next one, then 3 in a row, then another 20 mobs, then the last 3 dropped almost in a row, then I had to kill 10 more to get the last one

OK, first off: the "lake" around 29,39 is indeed the place to farm, and I agree that's it's a good idea to pair this with "A Ghost In The Machine" because there certainly is plenty of everburning ash around as well. But the following statement needs to be explained (at least, I wish someone had told me, though I still can't believe I was this stupid): DO NOT GO INTO THE LAVA!

Ohters were farming both quests, and the everburnig ash was tempting (it's there in the lava pool also); I thought I could juuust reach... just a little more... one more teeny step... and BOOM!: I was in over my head - and my pet followed me! The prior post on this page is a bit misleading - the lava doesn't exactly "burn you for up to 700 damage", it burns you for up to 700 DPS! And, you can't get out, either (at least I couldn't)! Needless to say, we toasted up pretty quick, but not quick enough to avoid the agony.

So the point to my story - yes, there is one - is that I began by killing 9 diemetrodons before my first drop, and another 8 before my second; I thought this would take all night. But by the time I got back and rezzed, the other players who had been farming the quest had completely cleared every diemetrodon off of dry ground - leaving me no choice but to pull them from the lava pool - at which point my drop rate increased substantially! I didn't keep an accurate tally, but my drop rate was much better than 50% on beasts I pulled - and if you re-read the quest description, this makes sense! After that, it only took a few more minutes to finish, including waiting for re-spawns.

So good luck to all of you who stayed with my story, I'll be interested to read how you do!

But maybe it's not a dream at all! Outside the fortress, near the lava pools and streams, you can find beasts that thrive in the sizzling heat. They're called felfire diemetradons.

The dwarves around here tell me that those diemetradons have the tastiest spleens ever and that the spleens practically come pre-cooked! Bring me those spleens and I'll give you some coin.
