This quest is not worth it. All you get is a few gold and no reputation. The entire line starting with additional materials is not worth your time.

The Illidari-Bane questline is a series of quests that leads to some cool anti-demon weapons. It involves entering many level-70 instances, so you probably want to do the prerequisites before then. David Wayne is also rumored to be Mograine of the Ashbringer.

Soloed as a level 70 rogue.

When you walk in, take the right hallway. You will need to stealth very close to some high level mobs, so, you can:
(a) have Master of Deception
(b) use a Sneaking Potion (this is what I did, I'm combat spec)
(c) sprint like a madman and then vanish.

Get to the ramp that Gatewatcher Iron-Hand patrols on. He walks up to the top of the ramp, walks down and says hi to Capacitus, and then walks back up. If you stand on the edge of the ramp he will not see you.

Looking over the edge of the ramp you can see your prize-- there should be 4 Overcharged Manacells there. Closest to you there is a group of 2 Sunfury Engineers, and 2 Mechanar Tinkerers. Don't even think about fighting any of them, you'd die-- we have something much more roguish planned.

Wait until Iron-Hand is at the bottom of the ramp, and then throw/shoot at one of the engineers. They will start to path all the way around the pillar and up the ramp towards you. When they are about to get to you, jump off the ramp landing right next to one of the manacells. Vanish, and grab it. You should have enough time to get it with a couple seconds to spare, before they kindly come back and kill you, porting you out of the instance.

This would have been easy to get in a group, since you only have to clear to the first boss, but if you're up for an exciting challenge, you can try this method.

Enjoy the rest of this excessively long quest chain. ^_^

Mages can also solo this very similarly. Timing is extremely tight, so you'll be better off waiting for Invisibility to cool down.

1. Go invisible and run through the corridor on the right, sticking to the left as you head up through the first hall. There will be a barrier on the left. Head to it and let Invisibility wear off there.

2. Gatewatcher Ironhand's patrol path takes approximately 55 seconds. Once the cooldown has finished for Invisibility, wait for him to come up to the top of the ramp, behind the mo'arg and blood elfs. When he turns to head back down, cast Invisibility, wait for the fade, and then head to the ramp.

3. Once you're on the ramp, climb up onto the left side of it and cast Mana Shield to dispel invisibility. There is a guard at the top of the ramp and a group of mobs at the bottom of the ramp, so you will need to space yourself midway between the two ends of the ramp as you stand on the ledge.

You will see the mana cells down below you, a short drop away.

4. As soon as you can target them, fireblast any of the four mobs (two non-elites, two elites). They will start pathing around the column, aggroing two other groups on the way. Wait until they almost on top of you or about to hit you with ranged attacks, then jump down next to a mana cell.

5. This apparently breaks line of sight. Immediately loot the nearest mana cell and prepare to die. You did disrobe prior to this exercise, correct?

this guy has done this quest(look at his weapon) and he is only level 69, i thought without a flying mount, you can't even reach mechanar ?

and he is a paladin so flying form either. can someone explain how he finished this quest at 69?

SverreH's way work for druids to but u die as he also said, just take of your gear and it will go fine since u get spawned outside when u release anyway ;)

The mana cells are purple boxes. Head right once inside the instance, after killing the first boss, circle left and you'll see them.

70 Rogue

This quest can be soloed by a rogue and possible a druid (but druid will die after loot).. Stand on the EDGE of the bridge BEHIND the packs guarding the crystals. Shoot em from the center and they will run the entire way around. Once they are half way there, jump down from the bridge and loot QUICKLY. I Made it by prolly 1 sec before they attacked me.. vanish and poof!

I solo'd this part as a mage with invisibility and an invis pot.

may take a couple of tries (3 for me - stupid feign resists) but this is doable as a NE hunter....

-send pet in to group on the right and run around the glowing crystal/pillar in the back and feign
-youll need feign so get up and shadowmeld
-once the patrolling machine goes away you want to run around the corner (towards east side) and past the 2 guards and machine there and feign yet again somewhere on the right side of ramp away from the next two guards
-from here you can run up to the extreme right side
-take out pet again and once the mini boss and patrolling human are out of the way you can send in pet for the bigger demon and run over to the point on the staircase shown in the picture further down this thread and feign yet again
-from there its just a question of pulling the guys down below and jumping down and looting once theyre far away enough
-youll die but at least you dont need to do a mech run for this :P

accept the quest (77, 38)
make a group
go to The Mechanar dungeon
loot the pink box near the Gatewatcher Iron-Hand to get Overcharged Manacell
return the quest (77, 38)

Working with the ingots you brought is going to require a lot of heat -- rather more than a conventional forge can supply.

I'm going to need a supplemental heat source for the forge and there are very few things in Outland that can supply that kind of power.

The Mechanar area of Tempest Keep turns out manacells containing an incredible amount of power. Find one of the overcharged manacells from the stacks around Mechano-Lord Capacitus and bring it back here.
