Obviously, this is the "key" quest to enter Arcatraz, a level 70 instance. Only one person needs the key to enter or have a level 70 rogue with maxed out lockpicking. The Bottom Shard of the Arcatraz Key drops from Pathaleon the Calculator in The Mechanar and the Top Shard of the Arcatraz Key drops from Warp Splinter in The Botanica.

The quest to get this key is a long quest line which starts with the quest 'Warp-Raider Nessad' (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10205)

Have tried running Mechanar to finish this quest several times, but the party runs into a bug where some members cannot interact or see the elevator leading to the second level of the instance. When party members reported this bug to a GM, they said the solution was just resetting the instance, but we have tried doing that several times with no sucess.

* I don't know the exact mobs that A/H get the quest from, they're in Area 52 so if you know the quest name it shouldn't be a problem
* I didn't sum up the gold amount because I'm lazy, the XP gain and reputation are approx. accurate. I hope.

Assisting the Consortium, a 'go talk to' quest (1200XP/72s)
Consortium Crystal Collection, kill a dreadlord called Pentatharon and get a crystal from him
A Heap of Ethereals repeatable quest also for Consortium reputation.

1st chain ends here : 25800XP, 510 Consortium reputation OR around 15g at 70

4. Warp-Raider Nesaad : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10205, a go-kill-him quest.
5. Request for Assistance : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10266 , find Gahruj at 47,57
6. Rightful Repossession : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10267 , get 10 boxes from around Mana Forge: Duro
7. An Audience with the Prince : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10268 , Nexus-Prince Haramad at 44,35 or so in the Stormspire.
8. Triangulation Point One : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10269 , use the Triangulation Device at 66, 33
9. Triangulation Point Two : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10275 , same thing at 28,41
10. Full Triangle : https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10276 , Find Culuthas at 53, 21, 70 Elite demon.

2nd chain ends here: 1600 Consortium reputation, 71450 XP or around 60 gold if you're 70.

Managed to do the Botanica part in 1 hour with a green/blues pug, just before a server restart. skipped all bosses except for the first and the of course the last one. Killed the Warp Splinter 1 min before the server shut down.

OK - here goes. I did this for the x'th time so I took some notes.

I was friendly to Scryers and still neutral to Consortium.

You will be able to start this chain - just by doing the following:

1.) Consortium Crystal Collection

2.) A Heap of Ethereals

3.) Warp-Raider Nesaad

... and this gets you on the chain thats shown in the list under Warp-Raider Nesaad. Happy Arcatraz Keyhunting!

OR, instead of doing this quest AT ALL...

find a lvl 70 rogue (like me) who has maxed their lockpicking. This is one of the only key-locked instances that rogues can break into.
I have never ever done this quest, don't have the Arc key, and I've been in Arc 14 times.

though, if you still want the items, go for it. :/

The quest tells you where you need to go to get the shards.

The first half is in Botanica and can be obtained from Warp Splinter.

The second half is in Mechanar and can be obtained from Pathaleon the Calculator.

Botanica and Mechanar are the other satellites around the Tempest Keep in Netherstorm. You need a flying mount to get to them.

I believe this is an instance where to find Warp Splinter and Pathaleon the Calculator. But i could be wrong. Still trying to figure out as well.

Extrmely IMPORTANT! Do not cancel the quest once you got a part of the shard. Because it will disappear and you will have to do the quest again.

Pathaleon the Calculator : End Boss mechanar...Tip: for just the key..you can avoid the second boss who is a right &*!@# to kill without a proper group

How to Break Into the Arcatraz

A'dal has tasked you with the recovery of the Top and Bottom Shards of the Arcatraz Key. Return them to him, and he will fashion them into the Key to the Arcatraz for you.

A message was embedded in the ata'mal crystal that you recovered. Nexus-Prince Haramad has given us information vital to our campaign against Tempest Keep.

He tells us that there are two pieces, shards to a key, which, when combined, will unlock the keep's Arcatraz satellite.

One half is possessed by an ancient in the Botanica known as Warp Splinter. The other is held by Pathaleon the Calculator inside the Mechanar.

Bring both shards to me and I will combine them into the Arcatraz key.
