Tough call for a druid. The staff is nice, but probably replaceable, whereas the gloves are untouchable at for tanking. I can't imagine being able to turn down the gloves. Even the tier 5 set is only arguably better. Nordrassil has more strength and agility, but the same stamina and *way* less armor (393 vs 267 (2374 vs 1613 in thick-hide bear)). I think it's a must have for any druid who might need to off-tank any instance/raid fights in the future.

I'm a feral / resto hybrid who occasionally tanks and I'm excited to get these gloves. However, the quest chain is incredibly long and difficult. While you're working on this quest, a nice in between and far more easily obtainable tanking gloves is at:

The process of attunement to the Black Temple begins in Shadowmoon Valley with a very long quest chain that requires trips to the Arcatraz, Serpentshrine Cavern, Mount Hyjal and finally the doorstep of the Black Temple itself. Even if you're not planning on raiding just yet, the chain does offer some nice blue rewards half way through. It starts differently depending on whether you're Aldor (A) or Scryer (S):

Aldors pick up the line from Anchorite Ceyla in the Altar of Sha'tar:
1. (A) Tablets of Baa'ri
2. (A) Oronu the Elder
3. (A) The Ashtongue Corruptors
4. (A) The Warden's Cage

Scyers get it from Arcanist Thelis at the Sanctum of Stars:
1. (S) Tablets of Baa'ri
2. (S) Oronu the Elder
3. (S) The Ashtongue Corruptors
4. (S) The Warden's Cage

At this point the chains converge for both factions:
5. Proof of Allegiance
6. Akama
7. Seer Udalo (Dungeon)

Here, you have to venture into the Arcatraz (which requires a Rogue with 350 lockpicking or somebody to open the door who's completed the Arcatraz Key chain, which requires trips to the Mechanar and the Botanica respectively) to the room just before the final boss. Sadly it's impossible to solo-stealth to. Finding Udalo leads to:

Talk to Akama:
8. A Mysterious Portent
Kill waves of nonelites, 3 elites and a boss (5-man) on a terrace outside the Black Temple:
9. The Ata'mal Terrace
Finally, deliver the medallion to A'dal in Shattrath City:
10. Akama's Promise

The chain ends here, and you're granted a choice of rewards:
Akama's Sash (cloth DPS belt)
Bloodwarder's Rifle (gun)
Spellbreaker's Buckler (spelldamage shield)
Ashtongue Blade (phsyical DPS dagger)
Verdant Gloves (feral leather gloves)
Staff of the Ashtongue Deathsworn (healing staff)
However, if you now go into Serpentshrine Cavern and kill Karathress, you'll be able to talk to Seer Olum who'll continue the quest chain for you:

1. The Secret Compromised
Go back to Warden's Cage in SMV and talk to Akama.
2. Ruse of the Ashtongue
Using the Ashtongue Cowl provided, kill Al'ar in Tempest Keep while disguised as a member of the Deathsworn.
3. An Artifact From the Past
You need to be attuned to Mount Hyjal for this. Simply kill Rage Winterchill and loot his phylactery (what is it with liches and their phylacteries?), then deliver it to Akama...
4. The Hostage Soul
...then return to Ad'al in Shattrath City...
5. Entry Into the Black Temple
...then go back to Shadowmoon and talk to Xi'ri on the road leading to the Black Temple. He'll ask you to help with
6. A Distraction for Akama
...but once you tell Xi'ri you're ready (talk to him after accepting the quest), you can watch a scripted sequence that you do not actually have to help with in any way. After this is finished, talk to Xi'ri again for your Medallion of Karabor and the completion of Black Temple attunement. Congratulations, you can now waltz in to Illidan's latest bachelor pad!

But before you go, the chain continues from Xi'ri with:
7. Seek Out the Ashtongue
Time to start exploring the Black Temple! When you find the Deathsworn, they'll give you
2. Redemption of the Ashtongue
...which requires you to kill the Shade of Akama. Finally you're given
3. The Fall of the Betrayer
Yup, kill Illidan. No problem. Then you're done.

By looking over all the quest's in this chain, to see if it is a good "gold chain", i got the total gold and rep you earn are:

You'll get 1925 rep with Ashtongue Deathsworn, a faction with no reputaition rewards so far.
If you're Aldor you'll recive 1825 rep and lose 907 rep Scryers.
If you're Scryer you'll recive 1825 rep and lose 907 rep Aldor.
You will also get 12 rep with Sha'tar.

If you need any of the rewards from the last quest you will still earn 28.41 gold. If not you should take the staff and sell it, which will give you a total amount of 38.63 gold.

I havn't done this questchain yet, just looked it over to see how much gold and rep I could get from it. Will try to confirm it in the oncoming days.

The completion of the final chain of the quest has neat ending :D. "You see a glimpse of the future. You see Akama and Maiev fighting their way through to Black Temple. But you see a third shrouded figure, and that figure is you."

does nobody know, how to actually get the medallion to Black temple?
did this quest line today, but no medallion.
And then i talked with a friend who told me that you have to kill a Boss in the Hyjal. And to get attuned to Hyjal, you need to be attuned to Serpentshiren Cavern and The Eye ? or?

Once you complete this questline/quest you will be able to talk to an NPC who resides in a cage behind Fathom-Lord Karathress in SSC. After killing Fathom-Lord the NPC will be freed and you will be able to pickup a Quest which will be to return to Akama and report some findings.

When you get to Akama you will notice he is having a conversation with "Illidan's Presence". Illidan orders Akama to have one of his Ashtongue venture into TK to kill A'Lar. Akama passes this duty on to you in the following quest(line):

It is at this point where you recieve the actual Medallion of Karabor which grants you access to the Black Temple, but the questline is not yet complete. The final quest awards The blessed Medallion of the Karabor which upon "use:"transports you to the entrance of the Black Temple but you need to kill Illidan to get it =)

Not that this matters that much but if youre doing the BT-preQ questline you probably wont ever use any of these rewards and the staff will most likely give you the most gold when sold to a vendor. 10 g 22s.

Theese gloves are amezing for feral tanking druids.
I've been unlucky with tier 4, but so far that's the only thing that I would replace it with. (Ofcourse with T5 etc if I had it.)

I like the ending to this quest chain. It is cool that you are shown (even if you dont see it) a vision in where you are fighting side by side witth two ledgendary figures in the game. Plus the gear is verry good, but can be replaced by gear obtained from raids.

I completed the quests up to finding Akama, then instead of giving me both quests, he just gave me the quest called 'Seer Udalo'.

So the question still remains - how do you get Akama to give the follow up quest
Akama's promise?

I have honoured rep atm but what other quest is dependant upon getting this follow up that has the rewards ?

If your a druid, do this chain right when u hit 70. Those gloves have are some great tanking gear. Not to mention a great stave for Resto.

2 man this quest,
priest and mage dps, kill 3 elite then fly to the top of stand there and dps,
he cast shadow bolt at you while priest heal you.

and done this with druid solo, take about 10min

I turned this in and A'dal shows me a vision of saving Warden Shadowsong and Akama from that place and attacking some place with their help (probably the Black temple).

Then A'dal doesn't have any follow ups though. The way the quest ended, it sounded like there was more to this. Does anyone know where to pick the rest of this up? How do I bust her out of there?

Attunement to the Black Temple
The Medallion of Karabor was a quest item given by Akama after retrieving the Heart of Fury, a shard of the ata'mal crystal; the Heart of Fury entered into an empty gem slot on the Medallion, which is then taken to A'dal in Shattrath. This quest line is now a confirmed prerequisite for the Black Temple attunement.
After completing Quest:Akama's Promise, players adventuring in the Serpentshrine Cavern will have access to a quest from a Broken NPC in Fathom-Lord Karathress's room. After delivering a message to Akama, he informs Illidan of Kael'thas' treachery in order to attempt to prove his loyalty (Illidan believes him, but is still suspicious). You will then need to slay Al'ar in the Eye of Tempest Keep so that Akama can convince Illidan he is still loyal.
The next part of the attunement involves killing Rage Winterchill, a lich boss in the Battle of Mount Hyjal instance. There is speculation on whether or not there is another quest, however interrogation with either Nihilum or Curse would reveal the answers, as both guilds have completed attunement and are in the process of downing the Black Temple. At the end of the quest line, Akama will likely reward you with the Medallion of Karabor, allowing entry into the Black Temple.

You Don't get Akama's Promise til you Find Udalo and do the quest from that A Mysterious Portent which leads to The Atam'al Terrace which leads to...

I was very confused when I did this quest.

after you finish "The Ata'mal Terrace" and return to Akama at the Warden Cage he gives you this quest where you should return this "Medallion of Karabor" to A'dal. The problem is that you dont GET the Medallion of Karabor in your inventory or any other place. So I went here to get information about where I could find this medallion... which I could not find (cause it appears it don't exist).

Well the only thing you need to do when you got this quest is to go to a'dal and get your stuff, just wanted to let you guys know ;)
