Not a hard quest if you were able to handle the previous step, collecting the key. The altar is up the left and up the hill from inside the elite outpost area.

Rexxar actually tanks him the whole time, so finding a healer is not necessarily. Just dps and avoid his AE damage as best you can. He has a few AEs that were hitting our pets, one that I saw in my combat log was "Ground Smash", that hit my pet for 1700ish (pet has 9k armor). So it hurts if you get hit, but you can always back out and bandage around the fight as Rexxar keeps him quite busy.

Finished the quest tonight: warlock, mage, hunter, hunter.. all 66ish

I cant summon Goc . I am standing a the top of Altar of Goc and pressing Rexxar's Battle horn 10 min and it's always says require: altar of goc and that goc has not been summoned........

Just finished this quest.
Shaman, mage and a hunter... shaman tossed a few heals to rexxar which I'm not sure he really needs and was downed fairly quick. If the quest is bugged for you try abandonding it and getting the quest again... Or have someone else in your group try summoning him.

So, I had the same issue as a number of others before me, I killed Goc around 4-5 times solo to no avail. After abandoning and retrieving the quest anew, it completed on one attempt. I suggest that anyone having issue try this.

The offical blizzard comment is that if you take too long to kill goc, you won't get the completion mark. This may change but for now I suggest getting at least 2 people. Killed him 10 times solo with my hunter but I couldn't put out enough DPS.

It appears to be bugged for my friend and I. We assisted Alliance with this quest, and they decided to help us, so when we summoned Goc, Rexxar wouldn't spawn.

Just did this quest, everything is working fine. Stood near the altar(64,19), blow the horn, Rexxar flies down, exchange a few shouts with Goc and the fight begins.

Rexxar tanks Goc the entire fight, by the time we kill Goc, Rexxar was around 15% hp left so you'd better kill fast.

Goc does an aoe that punts you into the air, and some kinda cleave that does alot of damage(1.5k++ on a Rogue) to his front. *i think*

Still bugged today on Kel'Thuzad. We had a little trouble even finding the altar in the first place, its at the far north of the camp at 64, 18.5 up near a hut. Its just a non-describe slab of rock so its easy to overlook.

For us Rexxar was floating on the south side of the camp just doing nothing. We were able to summon Goc and Goc said his initial lines of the script but then Rexxar never came to continue it.

The quest is not bugged, you simply have to do more then 50% of the damage. You can't let Rexxar and his animal buddies do all of the work. I did it once and let rexxar do the work and didn't complete, grabbed a mage friend and we got credit.

Also for some reason if you try to start it when not in a group it won't work for some reason, just an fyi.

Simple solution: Grab a dps class to help you and you should complete it.

Still bugged as of 02/13/07...

You can spawn Goc now, but killing him (grouped or solo) doesn't actually give you credit for the quest. Tried 3 times... once solo, once with someone in group elsewhere in BE, and then once more with 3 others standing at the altar helping. No good...

This quest seems to be bugged for Horde only. I went to area to complete this quest today, only to have to have it bug. While waiting on a GM, an Alliance group came, blew the horn, and was able to kill Goc, then left promptly. This makes me assume that they completed the quest w/o any bugs.

As of 2/20/07 it seems to be working again For The Horde!

Beware! If you don't get Goc down fast enough, Rexxar will die and Goc will beat you down rather quickly.

I would like to thank the GM that helped get this taken care of. He (or she) worked with me and a guildie for quite some time to get it going on 2/18/07. He said it should be fixed the next day. It took an extra day, but at least its working now.

As of 3/6/07 (post patch), this quest is bugged. Rexxar is hanging out in the camp on his flying mount, we summon, Goc shouts his lines, and then nothing happens. He is red, but we cannot cast on him nor is he aggressive.

To verify that the quest is bugged you can look on the other side of the road, if you can see Rexxar on a flying mount close to one of the ogre buildings, then he will be bugged.

You'll have to make a ticket and a GM should be able to clear it up for you.

While the quest is still quite buggy (Seems 9 out of 10 times, Rexxar won't properly spawn and engage Goc), ticketing a GM does indeed seem to work just fine. Me and my guild ticketed a GM, just as the previous posters did, and when he finally got around to us he was able to set off the encounter as it should. Though I'd still like to see Blizzard fix this eventually.

Just solo it with my 67lvl blood elf shadow priest @ genjuros server.
i couldnt find a group for Prisoner of the Bladespire so i decide give a shot alone. i went there and find the ogre battle mages with using a mana pot i managed to kill 3 and get the key, yeah i was lucky with the key.
now about Goc i went first alone summon him rexxar came and after 3 mins Goc was dead but no kill frag for me... tried again and the same happended.. so i invited someone dude who was doing a Q there and when Goc came at this time both dps him and got the slain..

I spoke to a GM about this. Basically it has nothing to do with killing blows unless your PET gets it. Otherwise, the only thing holding back a person from soloing it is the dps. The cumulative dps of your party (or just you, if you're soloing it) has to be more than Rexxars.

However, if you're like me and tried soloing it, you'll soon learn you have to do as much dps as possible while at the same time not pulling agro. I killed Goc 5 times without a kill credit (solo) before the GM spoke to me.

So you basically just need another dps.

Just finished this on my priest alt. Duo'd with a 69 warrior on Windrunner, Horde. Wasn't at all buggy, and was much easier than I remembered. Just let Rexxar and his small army of petting zoo friends tank Goc.

As a side note: I was unable to heal/buff Rexxar either before or during the fight. I did not try flagging PvP and then try healing him, however.

Confirmed, still bugged on Frostwhisper, Horde side. Tried everything above, won't work.
Paged a GM (Thanks for nothing Nalic), didn't want to help. told me to wait for server reset and it would be better.
The fact that tis is almost a 3 month old bug and that the server restarted a couple of times since then didn't count.

Ah well, keep trying and complaining I guess :)

Tried it this morning, worked in 1 try. No more complaining (still not happy with GM support on this one though).

As of 4May2007 this is not soloable. Rexxar cannot be healed by players, and if you don't put up enough damage Goc will kill him. So I doubt there is a "timmer" you have to kill him by other than Rexxar's health.

Its the AE that keeps knocking me down, all the time spent pot'ing / bandaging doesnt give me enough time to take him down.

Ok managed to this quests with 68 frost mage myself and 69 combat rouge.
Just let the npc tank, and nuke him. However, the rouge must vanish in the middle of fight and do the bandage once.
If successful, you should be able to kill Goc just before your tanking NPC die.

i've tried this quest about 5 times now and me and rexxar kill the guy and even at the end rexxar says to me:

yet in my quest log it says nothing about Goc being slain, i even tried not starting the fight with stealth and not using vanish at all and still the same thing everytime.

umm im having a problem with this quest too.
i use the horn and goc summons he starts yelling then i see a message saying you hear the wings on rexxar's mount flapping and goc yells some more, then goc is unattackable
and no rexxar is in sight. ive paged gm and he said to try in 15 min. same problem thanks for the help after waiting 1:30 min.

Quest was still bugged as of the evening of September the 13th, however a GM was able to help me.
I think the problem is solely with Rexxar as Roc spawned fine. Rexxar however, even before we blew the horn to start the event, was hovering on his flying mount in another location outside Grull's Lair and didn't seem to be doing anything. The GM I contacted stated that he could sometimes resolve this so we started again and sure enough Rexxar summoned and we downed Roc in no time. He was unable to give an ETA on a live fix for the quest. So if you want the gold or Items go for it and if it fails, as it seems to for most people, Submit a ticket and cross your fingers.

Tried it solo, 70 BM hunter.. stole aggro every time so had to feign and give up tap so I tried a different approach...

I let goc kill rexxar then finished him off
the second goc died, rexxar reappeared, didn't give me credit, said thank you and flew off

Everyone saying that soloing isn't working is wrong. Solod on 11/28/2007 as a 69 BM Hunter with good gear. I was only putting about about 600 consistent dps and it wasn't even a challenge.

I got credit for the kill right when he died.

This quest isn't so simple for a rogue to solo, in my opinion. I've been more concerned about rex dying and the ground smash more than out-DPSing rexxar for the time being.

Then again, I'm 18/43/0 combat. Maybe assassination will have an easier time?

68 BM Orc Hunter with quest greens, couple o' blues here. Did it without breaking a sweat. Just bust my cooldowns, trinkets, racial, and he was downed with Rexxar tanking all the way. Didn't even get to use another round of my cooldowns before it ended.

I just solo'd this as a 70 rogue in T4/T5.. furthermore I didnt take more than 2k damage the entire fight from pulling aggro off Rexxar once or twice. Not sure if it had any effect but i jumped and was not in contact with the ground every time he cast Ground slam, and standing behind him the boulder whatever did not hit me.

Just solo'd this quest as a felguard spec'd lock. Wasn't really too much to it. He aggro'd on me right at the start but had my felguard take the aggro ... of course he died, but then Rexxar picked up the aggro while I re-summoned my pet. I just used 2 dots, occasionally shadowbolted him and when he died I got credit on the first try. I also have nearly 1200 shadow damage with my felguard out if that helped.

Soloed on my first try this quest tonight, as a lvl 70 feral druid in catform, but thanks that Baron was tanking. Didn't try it before cuz it said 3 players needed. Baron is actually very good tank, he died when we had Goc a hair away to be dead and I was able to finish it.
Was a good hint to jump just before the ground blast cast ends. Healed myself 3 times during the fight and used 1 Mad Alchemist potion. Got the credit, so means I made more dps than Baron lol, unless Blizz fixed this credit issue, commented above.
Had an epic staff (Staff of Natural Fury) and the rest of the gear was blue.

Soloed as 70 BM hunter (newly 70), rexxar tanked the whole time.

Did too much damage the first time and died (feign death was on cooldown). Just watch your damage, don't overdo it, had no problem getting credit for the kill, or killing it before rexxar dies.

Soloed this with 70 frost mage. Gear is 800 bonus damage and used pet twice. When Goc died Rexxard had about 6% hp so as frost mage you need more than rare gear to solo this.

Soloed this as a level 68 Aff/Demo Warlock. I have ~600 +dmg gear. A bit tricky at the start but overall not terribly difficult.

My advice:
-At the start get near Rexxar so he can immediately pick up aggro. Goc came at me once the event started and I didn't make it to Rexxar fast enough and ended up taking ~2100 hit. Not a good way to start off...

-Let Rexxar gain some aggro (I recommend letting Goc get down to about 95%) and then go all out. "More DoTs!" as they say... Remember, you must do more than 50% of the overall damage to Goc in order to get credit for the kill.

-If you're a caster, get as far back as possible to avoid Goc's Ground Smash ability. I stood near the hut to the left of Goc's altar at close to max range and never got hit by it. When standing there Goc's back will be facing you so you'll also get to avoid his Boulder Throw ability as well.

Solo'd as geared enhancement shaman.

I was letting Rex and the Earth Elemental tank but pulled too much aggro and eventually got pwned by him when I tried to tank him with my face. Luckily he does not despawn and since death dropped all my aggro I just ahnk'd and started dpsing again. Quest completed no prob lol.

For enhancement shamans, Tranquil Air totem is a real load off. Attempted it twice without it and got nailed from overaggroing. Dropped TA and could unload fully on Goc with the same tactics (let Rexxar get him to 95%).
Mediocre gear, mostly greens, albeit with the S1 axes.

Probably wasn't my dps that made me get the kill though.

Rexxar died when Goc had so little health left that I could kill him with 1 or 2 frost bolts, so no way Rexxar could ninja the kill.

Will be hard to time it like that though, I guess.

Pretty much worked this the same way as how Qvark did his. Solo'd this as a level 70 sub specced rogue. Rexxar died and Goc was at 4%. Popped evasion and melee'd him down with out a problem and got credit.

Yes it is bugged, i tried with some friends of mine a few hours back.
It was typo bug,used the horn at the altar and it sayd "Requires Altar of GAC" (Wtf?:S)
I truly hope blizzard will fix this bug after next maintenance :)

For people that have tried soloing him as i did, if you are not grouped you cant complete the quest, i soloed him about 5 times but it wouldnt complete, you need to be grouped, dosent matter where the other player is. Worked for me so hope it helps :)

Soloed it as a 68 Druid on Drak'Thul, All i did was go flying form until rexxar had aggro, dropped down into cat form and kept rip, and mangle on him, i only had to heal once after ground stomp. When Rexxar's health got low i switched to bear form (i made sure i had full health first since he hits very very hard) and pulled aggro away from rexxar, just growl and then 5 pt lacerate him, frenzied rejuvenation recommended highly, and eventually rexxar and his gang will take him out. Ended up having Rexxar and I under 10 percent health each but still completed it.

I just did it a few mins ago and it worked it. we two manned it with a 68 troll hunter and 70 BE pally. it looked pretty close but near the end of the match rexxar summon his bear and a pig. they help dps him down pretty quick.

the first time we did it rexxar died and we just ran. after we lost aggro goc despawned.

For my group we summoned him, he shows up, hits the pillar thing and says his whole shpeel. Then you hear the wings of rexxar's ride but he never shows up. Went into town and found him stuck in the middle of this spiked area. about5mins later Goc disappears and we try again, no luck. This time Goc AND Rexxar disappear, so we try again, now Rexxar doesn't spawn at all.. Guess I'll just save it till I hear of a fix =\

8/17/07, tried twice today. Died 1st attempt. 2nd attempt, won with Rexxar at 7% health, and I know I did the most DPS-no credit. So I have no flippin idea what it takes to get credit for this.

This might've been changed 2.3.2, it was very easy solo kill for 70 affl lock with mediocre gear (1100 shadow dmg buffed). Just start slow, use soulstone as an aggro wipe (fight doesn't reset if rexxar is alive) and burn Goc to cinders. Rexxar probably won't be able to hold aggro, I pulled Goc off him at 70% being careful and even soulshatter didn't shake him back, so the soulstone is really important here. Don't worry if Gocs hp is above rexxars midfight, Rexxar "enrages" at the end increasing his dps bringing the gronn down pretty fast.

One thought I had about it not giving credit without group was that maybe you have to be the largest damage dealer to get credit, like with most npc helped kills ?

done with 69 hunter and 70 mage, gave rexxar a few seconds to aggro and nearly lost the damage race :) however, goc died, rexxar survived, quest completed.

We went to take this guy down. One was dead on the ground, then two alliance flew in, summoned one, and then flew off leaving us unable to attack the spawned one and unable to spawn a new one. This should not be, bliz should be despawning if the party who summoned it dies / leaves the area.

I don't know if they fixed it, or if I just put out the right amount of damage, but as a 70 BM hunter, I solo'd this quest and got credit for it on the first try, and I don't think I got the killing blow, either, though I suppose it's possible that my pet did.

Still bugged on Suramar (Horde). March 18.

Saw an alliance team come in.. their helper pops right in and the script runs.

Rexxar either never showed, or got stuck.

They need to just pop him in and stop fooling around with this flying in business.. he gets stuck on all the spikey rocks.

Spoke with a GM once again. He would only say they are actively investigating all aspects of the quest right now, and anyone attempting it nowadays may well run into trouble of one sort or another.

While it may well be true you have to do more damage than the NPC and his pets to get credit.....or it may be true instead that you only have to get lucky enough to land the killing blow to get credit... me, I am not convinced that either is true. Right now I just think it is one of those really flaky quests that works sometimes.....and does not work sometimes. Just my opinion.

One thing was definitely true today. For whatever reason, it frequently hangs up...and when that happens Rex doesn't arrive at Groc (you see him coming down and hovering some distance away) and so the fight cannot begin.

Beat him 4 times solo and no credit. Also tried inviting a guild member into party us to see if that was the issue and after 2 times killing him stil no luck. going to talk to gm and see what he says.

EDIT: GM said they are aware of the issue and are currently working on resolving the issue. So not fixed just yet but congrats to those that manage to work it out

Yes, on Kul Tiras, on the 13/03/07 is he still bugged. He destroys the big stick with dragon head on, and then unkillable. Woohoo, no Eyepatch. It is on Horde. Alli can do it, annoying.

We tried this last night after seeing the alliance finish it just before us.
we tried and found that the Horde champ that comes flying in is getting stuck in the town just before he lands and never shows up because of it. Ticket was turned in but who know how long till fixed.

This is a tough solo on a hunter. I'm 31 marksman/30 survival with season one epic gear. I died twice before I figured out how to take him down. Used snakes twice (place one at Goc's feet while they are talking). Snakes distract him for a few seconds and lets both you and Rexxar get in some hits. Bandaged once. Used 1 major rejuv potion (health and mana). Feigned death once to get him off me. Sent my pet after him until he died. Pet didn't do much good, but every little bit helped.

Tough battle, but I (me and Rexxar, that is) killed him when Rexxar was at 3%. Sometimes Rex was lower, sometimes Goc was lower, but the first to get to zero was Goc.

By the time this is soloable, the rewards are garbage, but 24G + 5G (selling plate chest) wasn't bad. Only 10G repair bill so I came out ahead--was fun, too.

Me and the rest of my group are having the same problem. Which is... when we use the Battle Horn to summon Rexxar, Goc spawns yells a few things and an emote that says "You hear the sound of beating wings from high up in the canyon as Rexxar approaches" and that's it... we can't attack Goc... nothing... Rexxar doesn't come... and when we go try to use the horn again on the altar it says "Requires the Altar of Gac and that Goc has not been summoned."

Any other horde having the same problems?

A few tips:

- Let Rexxar get aggro, and then stand behind the boss to avoid his AoE
- DPS him down as fast as you can (w/out getting aggro). You only win if you get him down before Rexxar dies

Worked just fine now. Rexxar died when Goc had 3k left. Goc died, Rexxar promptly got back up and told me to meet him at Thunderhorn. Well, yelled, really.

BM Hunters can solo this easily. Turn off growl, DPS while not grabbing aggro.

Apparently Goc now wanders around the altar a bit and then despawns if not fighting anyone. You do not fail if Rexxar dies, win or lose.

Hi, I have done it with a group of 3 people (Warrior, mage and druid) and it wasn't bugged.

When you summon Rexxar, they will call his animal friends to fight with you, but if Rexxar dies, the quest will be failed.

Really nice quest.

I just completed this as a lvl 68 feral druid with the help of 2 lvl 70s.
I attempted to solo it several times, and got him down, but didn't deal enough damage to get credit for the kill.
As long as you get a group with enough DPS you can do this quest, but if you attempt to solo it you're probably gonna end up taking aggro and dying, or not getting credit for it when it dies.

Lvl 70 Rogue, Lvl 70 Warrior and Lvl 70 Mage successfully completed this on Earthen Ring (Eur).

First time, mage died and didn't get credit for kill.

Second time, warrior died but mage and rogue survived to get credit.

Rexxar flew down clearly both times.

He holds aggro well, so my advice would be to do steady DPS and let Rexxar hold aggro.

Pretty easily soloable at 70. Frost mage started horn. Hits for 3.5k. I let rex get to 80% and then started dps with my elemental. Pulled aggro at like 50%. Ice block, waited to drop some hate. And after that it was like 5 seconds to kill. Rexxar lived at 20%.

Solo'd with 860 +spell to start... make sure you have soulstone up, you'll use it.

I caught aggro at about 40%, died in 2 hits. Immediately used the soulstone rez and laid back into Goc (forgot even to get fel armor so at this point was only +710, no other bufs). Goc died before helper mobs died, I got credit.

Bugged for 8 April. Rexxars stuck in spikes. Goc despans (and able to resumon) in 6 mins, and Rexxar seems like will not despawn untel server restart...

Bugged as of Aprill 22, on Mug'thol... Same problem that everyone else is having, Rexxar gets stuck on spikes, so the fight never begins. I saw it working for a horde druid on the 20th though. I don't get it.

Read all the posts. Had similar experiences.

Tried it this afternoon...no luck getting a group together so took a shot at a solo. Groc came, but Rexxar stayed across the village....and I could not target Groc.

Put in a ticket. GM apologized and said a specialist would reset the instance. Would take 15 to 20 minutes. I logged out from my position behind the altar.

Came back in 20. This time Rex arrived. Was just me....again couldn't get a group. Killed Groc 3 or 4 times. No credit.

Came back in the evening.....dropped the quest...flew back to pick it up again.
And it was hung again....Groc there but R stayed across town ( I think maybe he has a crush on an ogre gal) Didn't bother with the GM this time.

I complained on the general channel. One person said - as many do here - that you have to do more damage than Rexxar and his friends to get the credit. Another said to go ahead and solo....all you had to do was land the killing blow.

Anybody sure about that one or another or is it just a screwed up quest that works sometimes and other times does not + a little urban legend getting attached to it over time?

Reminds me of The Vengeful Harbinger in that regard.

I'll try it one more time solo in hopes they reset it again this evening and just in case the "killing blow" theory is correct....will just save Bestial Wrath for the extreme endgame. If that doesn't work, I'll maybe get a group someday...if that doesn't work, I give up.

Did it as a 68 shammy and 68 druid pair.

We cleared to the altar, called Rexxar, he came and insulted Goc and they began their epic battle.

Rexxar is a 71 elite and can tank just fine, but you cannot buff nor heal him so you have to dps Goc down as fast as you can before Rexxar dies.

Let Rexxar grab aggro before you really lay into him - the Shammy died almost instantly when Goc went right for him in the very beginning. Reincarnate let us salvage that issue.

He does some AoE attacks, but they are annoying rather than strictly life-threatening - just heal before you attack again.

We cut it kinda close and Rexxar died before Goc did. I (bear form) moved to tank but (thankfully!) Goc fell over dead before he could really run us into the ground.

Now to enjoy our hard won eyepatch and clefthoof leggings!

Quest is bugged. Killed three times (solo) and even tried the group hint but it doesn't work. Tried stay at melee range, tried DPS'ing more then the Rexxar, tried everything but I don't get the Goc slain quest completed.
He has 140k hp and hits hard, but you can still solo him with Rexxar. After killing Goc, Rexxar thanks you and tell you to talk with him at village, but no quest complete whatsoever.

As a 70 warlock, I tried this 6 times.

The first 4, I killed him before Rexxar died. The fourth of these I died and used a SS to res. Did not get credit.

The fifth, Rexxar died when he was at 3% or so.

The sixth, Rexxar died around 10%, and I had to kite him around (in a very small circle, or he evades.) When he died, I finally got credit.

Strange.

DEFINITELY bugged. Best advice I can give is, if you have it in you keep trying, if you don't then blizz will probably fix it one day.

As of 30th of March we waited 2 hours for a GM to fix it.. He couldn't so he contacted a senior GM or whatever he called it and it got fixed.. Trying it again with a friend now.. Hopefully it will still be fixed.

Edit: Bugged out again grrrr.. Guess you'll have to call a senior GM everytime you got to do it

On Kirin Tor, this did not appear bugged. Friend and myself two manned it with the NPCs.

We waited for Goc to be at about 96-95% before we jumped in. He has an AoE that can be dodged and that does somewhere between 1K-2K damage. We never took aggro, never did any kind of wipes or deaths.

You can't heal Rexxar but so long as you have enough DPS (we were an FC Druid and BM Hunter) you can bring Goc down without any issues.

This final quest of a long series is still completely bugged as of March 26, 2007!

We tried it a half dozen times, three times with GM help, but neither could the summoned Gronn be attacked nor did Rexxar show up.

Thank god this is not a prerequisite quest to enter Gruul's Lair.

Tried it again today. Rexxar avoided the hangups. Killed Groc at least 5 times....and one time I would swear I had the killing blow (a 2435 aimed shot crit). No credit for kill though.

A warlock kindly joined me then. Grouped. This time we got credit.

So....while I cannot be sure....those who suggest the group has to get more than half of the DPS are probably right. And so the more the merrier. Therefore much easier to complete with at least two.

The eyepatch is pretty cool <g>

I got this Q tonight, after i did all the prequests.(like 15 q?)
"hmm cool rewards, but group Q, 3 ppl" noone wanted to help me, so i tryed it alone.

Its bugged on terenas horde side .. me and my group used one hour to clear all mobs and bang - he is already summoned - can't attack him - can't summon again -.-. Stupid quest! Report it to a GM if its like that on you too.

I just did this quest tonight with me (Level 69 Shadow Priest) and 69 Combat Rogue.

Goc spawns when you sound the horn and Rexxar flies in. They talk and begin to fight with Misha helping. I died at the 55% mark due to over aggro. I tried fading but Goc hit me with 22% armour reduction for 2000+. For healers, you CANNOT heal Rexxar. I tried even though he is a friendly NPC.

We killed Goc just as I was running back and I still got the credit for the kill.

after a few bugged attempts this quest worked. 1st few attempts were with a group of 5. last and working attempt was with two, a shadow and a holy priest.
you have to out damage rexxar! if he does more damage then you you don't get credit for the quest. dps as hard as you can, don't worry about rexxar if he dies, before you kill goc. your not hitting hard enough and wont get credit anyways. rexxar will tank pretty much the entire fight. only thing of note was that goc had an anoying attack that bounces you up into the air. it disrupts your spell casting and causes falling damage. That seemed to be the only damage i took durring the fight

Quest done successfully on Lothar. Had three people in group laying down big time DPS on Goc - we all pulled aggro off Rexxar at least once - and got kill credit just fine.

I found a way to work around Rexarr getting stuck.

When he flies down, he gets stuck on the spike. Even after Goc has despawned he will keep flying like that. Once Goc has despawned, have someone wait to blow the horn, and someone watching Rexarr. Eventually, Rexarr will go away, then fly back down and get stuck. When he goes away, BLOW THE HORN. He came right to us!

Hope this works for you. It worked on the first try after 10 attempts!

Still bugged on Lothar as of 6/2/07, spent hours on previous chain quests to no avail. Ticketed a GM and all he told me was "Yeah we know its bugged, just keep trying...."

Soloed on Classic TBC as a 68 BM hunter.

Pet growl off, pop CDs and go ham letting Rexxar tank and feigning as needed. I used a Super Mana Potion to keep up the dps. I did around 680 dps, 64.8k damage and Rexxar survived with about 10% hp.

This helmet is DOPE!

Was able to solo as a Warlock. One thing to note is that the quest does not end if you die. Soulstoning yourself, going ham on DPS, and dying to reset threat is a valid strategy.

Easily soloed as a lvl 67 Horde ret paladin.
While you cannot heal Rexxar directly. If you use jugdement of light, he will heal himself. Finished the fight with him still sitting above 70% hp.
Just beware of your aggro. Let him slap Goc abit before doing dps, so you don't overtake him in threat.
Edit: This was during Wrath pre-patch.
