According to worldofraids.com this quest chain gives 42000 rep with "netherwing", so you end up at neutral reputation, and I guess you can then start some other quests :)

Kill the bigger Rocknails in order to get an entire carcass. Otherwise, the smaller ones drop an item that you need 5 of to combine into a carcass.

If you save up all the meats to place down one after another, make sure you don't put them down in the same spot. The drakes get a "full" debuff and no nearby drakes will come down to eat, so you'll waste meat doing that.

- Kill 8 Rocknail Flayers, Use Carcasses to Feed 8 Dragons (don't move!). Also make sure to travel a bit when laying the meat, as the same drakes won't eat twice in a row.

- Return to Mordenai, you will immediately gain 42,000 rep and become neutral.

- Blizzard has announced that next patch they will be introducing a continuence of this quest line, including the ability to get exalted and purchase or receive through extensive questing an EPIC netherdrake mount. You will need epic training to use it however, so save your gold!

A good place to stand and feed them is 62, 57.8. You're out of aggro range from everything around you and Ruul doesn't patrol in that spot.

question. Im a druid, don't have a flying mount, but got flight form. Same difference. I fly up to him, and he just says begone mortal.
I'm 70 of course. Just wondering if there is a prereq.

They're not Void Axes, they are Resonating Axes fyi. And this lvl is obtained at 70, right? I'm a 69 warrior and I really l like this axe's look, and stats. Could someone clarify?

Verified: You can kill Netherstorm Netherdrakes (by switching to "at war") In order to skin them or complete quests and NOT LOSE REP.

<b>Mobs</b>
The rocknail flayers do a physical debuff called "flayer flesh", which increases the physical damage you take by 87ish damage you take for the next 15 seconds. Sadly, there is about one rocknail flayer per spawn. However, there is at least 10 different Rocknail spawns so lack of mobs shouldn't be an issue.

The rocknail rippers do a physical debuff called rend flesh, which is basicly a DoT. The damage DoT does is also effected by "flayer flesh". The rocknail flayers are bigger than the rocknail rippers.

Both the rocknail flayers and the rocknail rippers are melee. They do not cast anything.

Watch out for Ruul, an elite lvl 68-72 mob that wanders around the area. From a distance Ruul looks like a very large dragonkin (about two times larger than the drakes), but that is actually Ruul's mount.

Drops
The Rockanil Flayers drop a Rocknail Flayer Carcass at least 99% per kill. The rocknail rippers drop one Rocknail Flayer Giblets at least 99% per kill. If you have five rocknail flayer giblets, you can find it in your bag and right click on it to turn it into a Rocknail Flayer Carcass. For this reason, you want to kill the Rocknail Flayers as much as possible.

Feeding the drakes
There are two ways of doing this.

The first way is:
Once you have one Rocknail flayer carcass, try to find a drake. They tend to fly 100-200 yards above the ground. Once you can see one, target it and then use the rocknail flayer carcass. If you do not target a drake first, you will get a red system error saying no target. It takes about four seconds for you to drop the rocknail flayer carcass. When you do you have to stick around for up to 30 seconds before the drake you targeted lands on the ground and starts to eat the rocknail flayer carcass. Once the drake has eaten the carcass, it will have a debuff called fed. You do not get credit for feeding it until the drake lands, eats the carcass, and says something in draconic. Do not try to feed a drake with a feed debuff. This will only result in you waisting your carcasses. For this reason this quest can be a bit of a pain on PvP servers.

The second way is this:
First gather up eight rocknail flayer carcass. Then head to 67, 52. There are at least 10 hungry drakes there at any given time. Although ruul goes through the area, it is very easy to avoid him if you are watching out for him. It's virtually impossible to aggro any of the rocknails unless you aren't watching what your doing.
Target a drake and then use a rocknail flayer carcass there. It will take about three seconds for you to drop it. When you do you have to stick around for up to 30 seconds before the drake you targeted lands on the ground and starts to eat the rocknail flayer carcass. Once the drake has eaten the carcass, it will have a debuff called fed. You do not get credit for feeding it until the drake lands, eats the carcass, and says something in draconic. Do not try to feed a drake with a feed debuff. The problem with this way is the rocknail carcass has a 30 seconds cooldown, so you can only use a rocknail caracass once every 30 seconds.

The itemdrop stops when entering a raidgroup?

I was doing this quest during the time I waited for the kara invites to start, and when I was invited, the drops suddenly stopped.
I found this wierd but kept on killing.. nothing dropped..

Talked to the raidleader and left the group for a few secs, and guess what, they started to drop again.
Reported this to the GM's but I thougth I'd write it here as well.

I completed this chain as far as it went before the 2.1 patch. I just went back to that area to continue it, and discovered that I am once again hated, but cannot get the quest again from the initial quest giver.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I don't mind having to do the chain again, but I can't seem to start it.....

Be warned: because the drake's you're feeding are hostile (red), any auto-attack 'stuff' you have active will go for them.

In my case, my Searing Totem opened fire on the drake the moment it got within range. I assume something similar, like a hunter pet on aggressive, would do the same. This both leaves you with a ~69 elite to fight and doesn't count as a successful feeding.

When you're feeding the drakes, it's ok to stay in the same location throughout the whole ordeal, however beware of Ruul the Darkener, who runs pretty fast.

Upon feeding a drake, the said drake says the following:
"Belan shi karkun."
Anyone fluent in Draconic who can translate this?

Does anyone know what the prequest is for this? I have checked back several times and he doesn't have it for my lock. I have done it on 3 others toons but just started questing SMV on my lock and got his epic flight over the weekend so wanted to start netherwing rep also.

It´s very easy line of quests. It´s take about one hours. I worked alone, only one protection paladin help me with killing Zuluhed.

One thing that was a pain when i was doing this quest is the level 71 elite that roams about. Ruul the darkener. So just a heads up watch out for him.

I guess its also a Scryer only quest. I tried to start it today and realized the area was defended by Scryers. Mind you I've been farming Aldor since I hit 70.

there's a little hill at 63,59,just taskbar the corpe's and click,1 or 2 air elemental's you have to kill as you absolutly cannot move through the whole eating process or they'll attack you. After they've eaten they'll say a few words and Badaboom,wait for the cooldown and repeat.

You have to have riding skill at 300 (though you don't need the epic flying mount) to get the quest chain started. Until you have that, you get the "Begone human your kind is not wanted here!" statement from Mordenai.

the elvel 69-70 Rcoknail flayers actually drop a carcass otherwise you need to colleect 5 giblets to combine to make a carcass from the rippers

I contact Mordenai but he states, " Be gone human your kind is not wanted here". I know I haven't done the Quest before. Anyone have idea why this happens?

Seems to be a lack of a clear-cut explanation of what you need to do here.

Kill the Flayers, they circle around the various crystal clusters at approx. 62,57 -- where you pick up the quest. They drop the carcasses 100% of the time, just right click the carcass anywhere near the crystals to feed a dragon. There might not be 8 Flayers around, in which case, you can kill 5 of the smaller "Rippers" and combine 5 giblets to make one corpse. Really not all that bad.

There are only a few Rocknail Flayers patrolling around the crystals, so whilst each one drops a summoning carcass it can be slow work, especially if somebody else is there on the same quest.

Alternatively you can kill the smaller Rocknail Rippers. There are lots more of them around the bases of the crystals and they drop Rocknail Flayer Giblets. When you have 5 of these in your bag simply click on them and they will combine to form a Rocknail Flayer Carcass.

Hint: Mordenai really wanders around. I had trouble finding him to both start and end this quest. Do a systematic up and down search of the western side of the grounds and you will find him eventually.

They won't even come down to feed. I have seen several fall to the earth, dead from exhaustion before their bodies hit the ground.

We must save them! The Rocknail flayers that are found near the crystals are their natural prey. Kill flayers and take their carcasses. Place a carcass in the field and stand extremely still. As long as you do not make any aggressive motions, they will not attack you.
