- Kill 8 Rocknail Flayers, Use Carcasses to Feed 8 Dragons (don't move!). Also make sure to travel a bit when laying the meat, as the same drakes won't eat twice in a row.

- Return to Mordenai, you will immediately gain 42,000 rep and become neutral.

- Blizzard has announced that next patch they will be introducing a continuence of this quest line, including the ability to get exalted and purchase or receive through extensive questing an EPIC netherdrake mount. You will need epic training to use it however, so save your gold!

Eastern side of the island is the best area to find crystals. Most crystals are surrounded by 2-3 mobs, but they only have about 3k hp.

Like luolaman said, the Peons are easy to kill. The Nethervine Crystals are red, but they are attached(as their name suggests) to a vine growing on the side of the large crystals growing on the island.

Interesting to note: If you die out on Netherwing Ledge you resurrect at Altar of Sha'tar on full health with no res sickness. This is probably because you have to be alive (and flying) to get back to Netherwing Ledge, which you can't do as a ghost.

As a holy priest, i did this in less than two minutes.

I found a great spot on the southern part of the island and just ran around mind soothing and fearing. I didn't kill a single mob :)

All miners can track the crystals Via "Find Minerals" kind of like any herbalist quest where the intention is to find find herbs. Makes the quest a bit easier.

If you are a Priest, you can Mind Soothe the mobs near almost all of the crystals and continually loot them without fighting anything.

The peons have only around 3,200 hp each and are easy to aoe down, for aoe classes.

When flying on your mount, watch out for https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=21719. They can and will attack you on your flying mount if you get too close. They have a 'Shoot' attack that hit my mage for about 400 damage each, and Serpent Sting, and they will whale on you for about 400 damage too if you're in melee range. However, they won't chase you if you fly away from them (although they will continue to attack you until you're out of range).

When on the ground, watch out for https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=22253#M0z (in fact, look to see if any are in sight before dismounting). They hit like two-ton trucks. Luckily, they're like 15 feet tall so they're easy to spot.

I found that if you gather crystals around the edges to the extreme east, like at 78, 86, you won't be bothered by riders or ascendants.

The ascendents are a HUGE pain. No matter how careful I've been - they killed me over and over again.

Expect to die a lot or take a few people with you.

I've also been just flying and been shot out of the sky by one of the riders... this was weird because I was in Flight Form... I luckily landed on a random floating island... but the fall killed me and I had to fly back down south.

I've seen guards that can unshapeshift me... and random uber elites that roam the skys... but not random elites. They don't do it all the time... I've aggroed 4 or 5 of them, but only the one unssed me.

as an affliction warlock normally work with my rupfip (imp (for darkpacting mana and blood pact) but for this one i pulled out my ormnos (voidwalker)... since they have their low health i didnt want to DoT them... i tried Seed of Corruption... not ideal aswell... tho still the best way i think..

dont think the disobedient peons have low health aswell... compared to the normal peons they are tough to beat.... tho they are just weak-normal mobs

as other stated i also went to the eastern part and didnt have a very hard time

As has been stated. Not the easiest quest around. I would just suck it up and expect to die.

I didn't find any one area better than another, and I died a good 5 or 6 times since I was on a slow computer. I couldn't see the big guys until they were on top of me.

Anyway, PITA, but not the worst quest.

Oh, and if you don't feel like flying back...just die!

I found out that one can land on the crystals (the "actual" crystals, not the ones you collect) in-range of the Nethervine, collect and the mount / go flightform again, no need to kill mobs, nor be in danger of the elites to rape you. One although sometime experience that the mobs aggros, then one can either kill them or wait and hope for them to unaggro, which they will normally do, sometimes the "teleport" to your location and that killing you.

The big buys "Dragonmaw Ascendant's" hits for around 2k and cleave for little over 2k at cloth.

The "Dragonmaw Skybreakes" shoot for around 300, a serpent sting that ticks for around 200 and some ability that critted me for 2,5k dmg.

The "Dragonmaw Peons" hits for around 140 and do sunder armor. It seems like the group is linked, so when aggro one, you aggro them all.

The quest in itself is pretty easy, got around 8 without attacking anything. And the last 4 i got by killing 3peons each place.

This must be one of the most annoying quests in the game so far... three times in a row I've been killed by the elite mobs wandering around amongst the peons. And you ress half a zone away. :(

Frankly, this quest SUCKS, in my opinion. The Peons that gather around the bushes are rather easy to kill, but aggro in a chain group of around three. They aren't that hard to AOE down, if you can do a respectable amount of said AOE damage, but three mobs, squishy or no, will kill a caster rather quickly. However, the core problem are the massive elite mobs wandering around amongst the bushes that will aggro from a massive distance away, and destroy you painfully. Tactical insertion via a flying mount is risky, due to the riders swarming the skies, and the hilariously powerful mobs gathered near the base will obliterate you if you walk or fly too close after that one bush. Keep this in mind. And yes, you will probably die.

Hi,
I've just finished this quest, so thought I'd offer a few tips. I died probably three times due to the Dragonmaw Ascendant patrols before I figured a few things out.

The first thing, as you'll see when you look them up here, is that they patrol in roughly two rings around the outer perimeter of the island. I found it safer to get the vines either closer to the centre, or at the south or east edge.

When I saw a vine, I'd wait airborne until the moment I had enough room to land without the Ascendant aggroing, after he'd started to walk away. I then landed and killed the three peons near it as quickly as possible. They seem to have low armor, and don't hit for much, so they're easy kills. Once they were down, I grabbed the vine, remounted, and got back into the air as quickly as possible; I hit my mount key the moment the progress bar for getting the vine had finished. Once I started doing that, I stopped dying and was able to finish the quest fairly quickly.

Make this quest easy with no fighting. Take along someone that is working the poison the peons quest. Let them poison the peons near the crystals, land, pick your crystals up and move along. The only thing I had to do was take 2 quick trips away to drop the aggro from the transporters. No Fighting at all.

Just did this solo with 70 shadow priest... I tried to fly around outskirts and keep away from the elites and the fliers.

If you get an elite and you;re alone start flying back from Sanctum of the stars cause you;re ded.

The miners dont have many hp's almost seems like 3k. Flying over the middle is pointless as you would have to fight 6+ and then worry about the elites.

I never used mind sooth....and never feared... so no special priestly powahs to hold you back.

The mobs around the crystals are 3 packs of Dragonmaw Peons, which are a psin in the ass for casters, as they almost always chain pummel just about instantly.

However, they only have about 3.3k hp, so it's not too bad

I spent 30 minutes on this on the stated coordinates. I learned the ground patrol patterns and stayed low enough to avoid flight partrols. Tedious, but not difficult.

Its not a really hard q I suppose just have to beware from the elites. For hunters, the best tactic I belive if u put on the track dragonkin and then u can see elites. Just keep killing the workers (they are really easy) and look after from the elites. If one come just fly up (feign death didn't work). I find a lot of crystal and few elites near 69.80

I found some that weren't guarded by any peons. Even mobs are 3 are definitely doable for casters. It isn't as bad as some of the previous posters may lead you to believe. The only annoying bit I found were the level 72s roaming around on the ground and in the air.

3) mine crystal
4) run away with aspect of cheetah until pet vanishes (pet won't even die =)
5) FD if necessary

wash, rinse, repeat...

=)

This quest was the most royal PITA I've run across in a long long time. The only way I found to complete it was to fly around CAREFULLY (too high and you'll aggro the lvl 70 Orcs, too low and you'll aggro the lvl 72 Dragonkin Elites which are much much much much worse); when you see a crystal, land, send in pet to aggro the (usually three) peons, gather the crystal while they're fighting, and then either kill off the peons or hit cheetah and run like hell 'til you're out of range. It's chicken-sh!#, but it's the only way to stay alive. The only crystal I got without a fight was from a ledge at exactly 70.44, 79.57. Good Luck!

I have no idea why Blizz chose to poulate this quest with lvl 72 Elites when players can't get above 70, without making it a group quest! Two swipes and you're dead - and they don't really patrol, they mostly just spawn; I had "Track Dragonkin" on the whole time, and never saw them coming. 7g 59s is a slim reward for this amount of effort.

Next quest in this series is:
The Force of Neltharaku

To get to the Netherwing ledge, just follow the quest descriptions.. it clearly
states that you are supposed to head south east to the island on the map.

Be prepared to fight 2-3 mobs at the same time as the Nethervine's are sorrounded
by minimum 2 mobs.

Also watch out for the 71-72 patrols that wander around.

You can fly around a little and find vines that has only 2 mobs if you have problems with 3.

Easy quest for a warrior. You can aggro 4 mobs at once and still finish with half ur hp left. They have a very low amount of hit points. Sweeping Strikes and Whirlwind FTW :)

You can find the nethervine crystals all over the netherwing ledge normally by the working peons. As a priest you run in, fear all, mine, and run out again. Mages can easily aoe. They got about 3.5k hp each. Be carefull with the 72elites they walk around the netherwing ledge, they hit four about 1,7k.

I did this quest about 4 months ago with my pally and it was ez ..since then they have made the pats lvl 72 elites that wander all over constantly ..gonna have to ask for help this time after getting 2 shotted 4 times in different spots this is on my priest btw..overall a real PAIN .

Took my first crack at this yesterday.

There must be some viable strategy, because it is hard to believe Blizzard would create a solo quest that requires you to kill MANY 72 elites + aggro.....they normally arrive when you are already in the middle of a fight.
And the elites often seem to come out of absolutely nowhere. They resisted my attempts at freeze trap.

I dunno....maybe you can fly at low levels and see the crystals....loot from the air. Or maybe you can just hug the crystal....fight...loot..then get back straight up in the air. I am with Aldor, so it is a long boring flight back after death ( my mount is not epic). But I will try a couple other strategies before I give it up. So far I have one crystal <g>. Not a promising start....lol.

Right now I would suggest bringing along plenty of help.....but if I come up with anything that works, I'll post it. And check site to see if somebody else finds a simple way....

.....finished it a little later. Recon strictly from the air this time...no exploring on land. Roughly traveled a wide circle around 70,80 or so. Changed altitudes frequently......you can avoid incoming skybreakers by rising very high. When I saw a red glow attached to a large crystal during the fairly low altitude runs, swooped down tight....fight off any mobs....loot...get back up in the air pronto. And then more circling. But that technique did keep the roaming elites out of play. (I'm a hunter but I didn't try and get in shooting range....because I was sure an elite patrol would come up from behind if I did. Just meleed and trapped away....the workers are not very rough and the elites do not seem to wander very far off of their paths.

Very long and very tedious quest.

Be sure to turn on track minerals if you're a miner. You can find some unattended crystals you might miss otherwise.

The quest refers to a location South - East of Shadowmoon Valley. To be exact is the little island at the South East corner of the map. Grab your flying mount and head over there. If you are a miner you dont have to read the following cause if you have enabled Tracking Minerals they will appear at your minmap.
For the rest of you i have enlisted the coords. Remember that the Crystals are next to the giant crystals you will see but they dont look lik ecrystals. They have a slight red glow. The screenshot from our friend will be very helpfull:

I believe that I can imbue nethervine crystals with my own essence. The power contained within these imbued crystals should be sufficient to free enslaved drakes of their masters' grasps.

Travel to Netherwing Ledge, an island located off the broken shelf of Shadowmoon Valley, to the southeast. It is on Netherwing Ledge that you will find nethervine crystals. Return to me when you have collected enough crystals to fill your packs.

And <name>, Beware the Dragonmaw that now inhabit the island.
