Captive children are freed from Veil Skith Cages at the Skith camp south of Shattrath by using Veil Skith Prison Keys. The keys drop from both the Dreadhawk's and Windrippers at the camp, at about a 20-25% rate.

There are four cages at the camp, two on the ground (one on the east side another on the west side toward the western tree tower), and two up in the trees (one on each tree top). The ground cages free 2 children each and the tree cages free 4 each, so it's more efficient to use keys on the tree cages whenever the children have respawned inside those.

Kids will add up in a cage over time, its not random. However many kids are in the cage is how much you get.

Be sure that any kids are inside, or else you'll lose the key without any kid beeing counted in the quest log.And yes after you open a cage... you lose 1 key, so you need more than 1 to do the quest.

It's most efficient if you do this in a group:

More people means more mob kills which means faster key accumulation.

If one person burns a key, everyone in the group gets the kids. These are "free" kids for the party members who did not use their key.

Multiple people can hit multiple cages.

Get a party of 5 and do this quest in 5-10 minutes, easily.

Perhaps the drop rate has changed. I was getting a key for every 2-3 Mobs I killed. By the end of the quest I actually had 2 spare keys left.....

drop rate is sufficient enough that by the time you clear to the cages, you'll have enough keys. The children are locked within 3 cages I believe, just follow the ramp and go up the tree houses and you'll free all of them.

The tank reward is awesome too.

I think you need friendly with lower city first, Im neutral and am unable to get the quest from the boy at this time. 64 lock

In Veil Skeith 31.42

You have to obtain one key for each cage you open.

The cages you want are upright retangle bamboo cages, not the pointy topped ones.

Cage - 31.42 in top of tree
Cage - 31.44 in top of tree
Cage - 30.43 on ground level
Cage - 31.41 on ground level

At 30, 43 in the tree platform there is a cage that will spawn multiple kids.

You have to do the quest (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10847) before you can get this quest. You get the quest from Rilak the Redeemed in Shattrath City. He is in the Lower City at one of the two red "balls" on the map. The East one. When you have done that quest you can take "Missing Friends" from Ethan. You have to kill Skithian Windrippers / Dreadhawks to receive a key to unlock the cages, there's about 10% drop rate. You can find the camp under the "C" in "Shattrath City", the camp is called "Veil Skith". Every time you open a cage you use a key. So be carefull. Good Luck ^^

Kill Skithian Windrippers and Skithian Dreadhawks around 30, 42 until they drop Veil Skith Prison Keys, then find cages with Captive Children inside, open to release them. I only open the ones that have at least 3 children inside to minimize the grinding.

The cages in the trees by Urdak are definitely the way to go; between the two cages up there I got 10 kids, likely due to how few people look up there, let alone do this quest. Using the cages in the trees means you can easily finish the quest with 3 keys.

This quest is simply a matter of muck or luck, I had the Veil Skith Prison Key prison key drop for me on my first kill.

(31,43) -- Veil Skith is where you want to be slaying for the quest.

Cages are all around.

You WILL need one key per cage! Try to wait until cages have three kids in them.

If you are having difficulty seeing this quest, finish the quest "Seek our Kirrik" first, then you should see it. It's not supposed to have a prereq, but maybe it's your rep with lower city or something that allows you to get it. After all, kids are supposed to talk to strangers!

I've done many quests in the Forrest, but Ethan will not give the quest to me. What do I need to have before I can get this quest? I'm lvl 65 and am working on Aldor rep. Is he a Scryer rep based? I also cant get the quest for the Darkstone of Terokk from the bird guy in Refuge Caravan. Any help would be aprreciated

The reward was fun to play with. Once you summon the battle tonk, you can move the tonk and actually battle with other tonks!

I had a blast rolling around the caravan area. Too bad there are only 10 charges. Each summon lasts only 5 minutes.

I did this 45min before they took the server down Tuesday morning. I went up to the platforms. There were 4 kids in the cage on the first platform and 6 kids in the cage on the second platform with the named. Pretty hot :) I guess the longer a cage goes with no one opening it, the more kids spawn inside?

Veil Skith is at 31,34.
Cage 1: near entrance
Cage 2: near the rope bridge
Cage 3: first tree house
Cage 4: second tree house

Very easy to do.
Try to get the quests "The Outcast's Plight" "Veil Skith:Darkstone of Terokk" as well as they are all in the same village.

Did this as a 65 Warlock (affliction specced). Quests are relatively simple to complete and shouldn't take you more than 30 mins to complete.

First cage full of children is at 29,42. If you go the back way round you would probably only have to kill a couple of mobs. Right next to the ramp for the trees. Follow the walkway up the trees unlocking any children free. I loved this quest. Seeing all the little kids shout 'Yipee.. We're free!' Cute little buggers.

I've gotten like 3 greens so far out of like 15 mobs but no keys...that seems pretty messed up to me. the last one i killed gave me a key lol.

I had to complete the "Eyes of the Skettis" quest first, then deliver the letter spawned from that quest to the Arakkoa in the caravan. Once I did that, little Ethan was willing to give me his quest.

Just to be clear - cords confirmed 29.42

Keys for cages are dropped by any of the mob around the cages. Drop rate is like 3 out of 5, so very good and they still dropped after I completed the quest.

Once you receive Missing Friends travel to Veil Skith (Approx 31,42 using MetaMap - Also the same location of Stymying the Arakkoa).

Walk into the camp, to 30,43 and you will see one cage:

I personally had to take down about 10, but it wasn't hard work. Three cages should be plenty of kids.

I think they "fixed" this quest because I only had to kill 4 Skithians and got a key from each of them, I opened 2x cages of 2 children and 2x cages of 4 children..quest done in 9 minutes!

It is hard finding the keys but once you do you are able to get around 4 or 5 kids. One time i got 6 in 1 cage which is half the quest. Try and look for the cages with the most kids.

The quest is in Veil Skith and can be done along with "A Personal Favor" quest to retreive stolen goods and the 30 Arakkoa Feather farming.

The drop ratio is up to 1:10 kills. Sometimes I've gotten keys off of three mobs but then goes higher. One key got off the 8th kill closeby the cage.

Farm them very close to the cage and it may drop faster. Pull them over from the far distance and it may drop too.

----

There's two cages on the ground and two cages in the huts with up to three children each, but you may only get one in some cages and you have
to wait for the children to respawn. So you have a while to go.

I did this quest when I did "The Outcast's Plight" "Veil Skith:Darkstone of Terokk," and "A Personal Favor." Admitted, the drop rate of the feathers, keys, and the belongings wasn't that great, but it was easier getting the 4 quests done at once then doing them one at a time.

Poorly designed quest imo. Done this quest with two characters now on a busy realm and it's one where you'll be wrestling against both the opposing faction and your own faction constantly. Main issue seems to be both factions are on the same quest, and there's only a few small handful of cages (I think about 5), which everyone's constantly waiting on to spawn more kids. It's an easy enough quest, just seemed barely worth the hassle during peak times.

We broke down here because some guys came in the night and made a lot of noise. It was scary. I don't know when we are going to get moving again.

Some of my friends are missing though. I don't know where they are. I think those scary bird men took them away to the northwest. They probably are all locked up in cages and stuff. If you find them that would be great. I'm kind of worried about them.
