There are "Cursed Egg"s found around the camp (23, 74), they are in bird nest looking things outside of the huts.

They have a chance (seems to be a pretty small chance) to let out a Malevolent Hatchling that you can kill.

the trick to this quest is that wait for fresh egg spawns...they always gurenteed a redeemable hactling until after some time...when the eggs go bad and they all become mavelont ones...

after I had all my Malevolent Hatchlings, I dismissed my pet every time I would crack an egg.
I just did FD whenever a Malevolent would spawn, and after a few sec's of feigning, it would disappear

Yeah I had 5 redeemed and 3 malevolent. Not bad!

Oh another thing, be careful when fighting in the middle of their camp, a large Ogre, Mug'gok, comes into the camp and wanders through. He's only lvl 64, but it can catch you off-guard.

He will yell something about wanting to play with the birdies when he enters. But if you are locked in mortal combat with one of these ugly SOB's then you might miss it! :D

On the Malevolent Hatchlings, sometimes they followed me around as if they targeted me but they actually fought with my pet. I dunno why this happened but it kept me from getting out of range to shoot it. They also charged me in the start of the fight sometimes throwing me onto some Arakkoa. Also, 23, 74 is confirmed once again. I got the birds in this order: Malevolent, Redeemed, Malevolent, Malevolent, Redeemed, Malevolent, Redeemed. The Malevolent Hatchlings seem hatch a little more often than Redeemed ones.

I don't know that either it is a bug or not, but it seems i get more Malevolent Hatchlings out of the eggs than the normal. So I think that the chanse you get one is not that low.

There are way more nests then actual eggs. Was tryin' to race thru remaining Terokkar quests, this slowed me down alot.

If you get to this quest plan to spend a little time.

1st 5 eggs were redeemed,
6 - Malevolent
7 - Redeemed
8 - Malevolent
9, 10, 11, 12 - Redeemed

Lucky #13 was my last egg.. If you get to the spot and see someone else doing the quest too, you're better off skipping it because the respawn on the eggs isn't that great.

I did a sample of 20 eggs just for the heck of it. They're not easy to spot, but "Find Treasure" makes this quest total cake. For those without, the eggs respawned pretty quickly for me, and tended to clump around 2-3 of the huts. Just go from hut to hut, and slowly circle around them while examining the nests.

I got 7 of 20 malevolent hatchlings. 20-30% mabey?

I've found a tip for druids, with flight form (68+). (When you have slayed all the Malevolent Hatchling )
When you open the egg, fast switch to flight form and jump up the air. Then it will not attack you.

quest sucked for me, i've been using imperial bracers(lv 49), so it was a huge upgrade, ended up with this pattern
eggs 1-5 = malevolent
eggs 6-7 = redeemed
eggs 8-11 = malevolent
egg 12 = redeemed

pretty long run back, too

You will find the eggs next to huts in big nests. Location 25,74 for this quest. Not all nests will have eggs so you will have to run around the village abit, they are red with a purplish glow to them.

Hated this quest - every egg I broke for about 20 attempts was Malevolent.

But I think the quicker you get to them after they spawn the less likely they are to be Malevolent. It kind of hints at this in the quest log also.

I'm not really sure about this, but when I did this quest each time I got a Malevolent bird it was the 2nd cursed egg I opened, withoud fighting any mobs in between. Happened 3 times when I did this quest, so perhaps it's the sollution..

ya ive noticed the respawn time is decent at best but i've gotten 2 malovelant and 1 redeemed so far. I think bliz should make it when you kill a malovelent you redeem it or you dont kill it you just got it to like 10% and u need to redeem 6....make the quest way less annoying but thats just my opinion

I just went to the back at sat at 23.1, 74.1 and walked between those 4 or 5 nests, got the quest over within minutes. the eggs have a super fast respawn rate. with only killing 1 or 2 mobs that are around the area.

4 Malevolent, 1 Redeemed, 2 Malevolent, 2 Redeemed. Couldn't hurt for them to add some XP to the malevolent, but it's not too bad I guess. They were easy kills as a 65 Hunter.

Not a one of the eggs respawned during the time I was there. At lvl 64 this quest was rather easily. Don't need to sit and wait for respawn (if it does in fact happen). Easy kills if you just watch what's going on around the target and don't pull too many.

Just finished the quest, please don't believe the spawn rates for the eggs. I personally got 7 malevolent and 3 redeemed. Stick to the facts, just hatching even 10 eggs isn't a good sample size!

as a 64 rogue this was a very easy quest. All I did was break the egg and stealth or, since I'm a Night Elf, use shadowmeld. if it was a Malevolent I just attacked it if it was safe in the surroundings. Since I was sublety it was much ezer just to stealth and walk away if needed. What I did was,

1. I sapped a nearby target in case of aggro.
2. I broke the egg.
3. I stealthed or shadowmelded after I broke the egg.
4. I resapped the already sapped target so it was safer to kill w/o him aggroing or becoming unsapped.

not sure if it was me being incredibly lucky or if this is been nerfed since patch 2.4 but the first 3 i broke were redeemed and the following three were malevolent. on a side note, the malevolent birds have a knockback effect that can push you into other mobs so make sure to clear the area first.

Tried as 64 rogue:

1. I sapped a nearby target.
2. I cracked an egg and a malevolent came out.
3. It resisted the two eviscerates I did and the target I sapped wasnt sapped anymore luckily I survived.

The activating method worked fine with me.

First of all got 3 redemeed one is a row. Then i tried 3 other and they were all reedemeed. Then i tried to activate them and i got my malovent (cursed) ones.

Hence activating means cursed ones.

Fresh Eggs = Hatchlings
Old Eggs = Malevolent Hatchlings

So find one hut, break 3 eggs and wait until eggs respawn. Break them right after they appear -> quest completed.

One nest can contain both eggs. Given coords are correct.

they are all in the same nest. the difference is the malevolent hatchling eggs are darker than the Hatchlings redeemed. 2 nest at 24,71 titan panel completed the whole quest for me. Basically kill whatever comes out of the egg. if it don't attack you let it fly.

Ok, let me clear something here.

There is only ONE type of egg, named: Cursed Egg.

Now if you read the quest, it says:

Even if you are too late, you can put down the tainted ones

This means when you open the egg, there can be 2 different things.

1. An white bird flies off, he was NOT YET CURSED.
2. An bigger, and killable bird comes out, he IS CURSED.

So, just keep opening until you got 3 of each, and you are done

Here is what I found when I was doing the quest.

The quest text says "Travel to Veil Lithic and prematurely break the eggs before the curse has time to seep in."

I took this to mean, that you have to open the eggs as soon it spawns in the nest. If you catch the egg right away, you have a chance to redeem the hatchlings.

I also noticed that after I opened these eggs up it was taking a long time for them respawn. Then I noticed that when I poped one open, another spawned right immediately after I opened it. So I had to run back to a different nest and catch the new spawn that happened right after I open one so I could get the redeemed Hatchling. I think it would help to work with someone on the quest. If its highly populated when you're doing the quest by other people doing the same, I'd just camp one nest and pop it every time it opens. I think there is a rhyme and reason to which nests pop (like if a north one is opened, an egg then appears in the south) but I'm not sure. I seems like it, but it may be totally random too.

Hope this helps. Took me a bit to get them, but that is what worked for me.

They are NOT - I repeat NOT - all the same eggs. A redeemed one will not always be a redeemed one and vice versa. I just learned that the hard way.

i found that the perfect spot is at 22.74 there are two nests there and no mobs walking around. Respawn time is about 5 minutes so you might as well look around.

=Walkthrough=

Travel to the lower, left-hand or Southwest corner of your map in Terokkar. A rough coordinate for this (using MetaMap) would be 24,74.

Veil Lithic is another Arakkoa village yet not as densely populated as Reskk or Shienor. You can move about with relative ease having only killed under ten Arakkoa.

What you are looking for are nests filled with "Cursed Eggs;" below you'll find a picture of an egg sitting in its nest:

When you right click and open the egg, one of two birds will appear: a Redeemed Hatchling or a Malevolent Hatching.

I found there was no real rhyme or reason on the timing or sequence of the eggs. I just traveled around the immediate area in search of eggs and popped open whichever I came across. All-in-all, this took roughly five minutes.

For those without Cosmos, Veil Lithic can be difficult to find:

WestSouthWest of Auchindown is a fairly large mountain. You have to go behind that mountain (west of it). Veil Lithic is in the grassy area west of/behind that mountain.

Co-ords spot on 24.72. Eggs can be either malevolent or redeemed, eg...just because its been redeeemed once in that loc does NOT mean it will be again, its a totally random thing.

The quest isn't bugged like many people think.

If you are only getting malevolent hatchlings and no redeemed ones, then you are not breaking the proper eggs.

What I have encountered with this quest is that the eggs have a predetermined outcome. So if you get a redeemed at one egg, you'll always get a redeemed at that spot. I found this out when I camped a certain place I got my first redeemed from. The next attempt on the cursed egg had the same result. And the third attempt completed the quest for me. So it is just a matter of finding the cursed eggs that will turn into redeemed ones. If my conclusion is correct that is. Feel free to provide feedback on it.

As of 2021-06-03 - this quest worked fine. If you are doing it and are confused why you can't open some eggs it is because there are two eggs here. Cursed eggs for Malevolent Hatchlings and the other eggs for the friendlies that can spawn. Good luck.

Appears to be broken on TBC Classic.

If you complete either objective, you aren't able to open eggs that have been assigned that objective anymore, i.e. if you have 3/3 Hatchlings Redeemed, then you can't break open eggs that contain redeemed hatchlings. (I believe that the eggs decide if they are redeemed or malevolent when they spawn - this would be similar to how item drops are decided when NPCs spawn in WoW.)

This creates an issue when you have completed one objective, and all the eggs have spawned also containing that objective. I was unable to open any eggs while 3/3 Redeemed and 2/3 Malevolent, and redeemed eggs took up all the possible spawn locations. Waiting for other players to come through with the quest and reroll the eggs seems like the only solution, other than abandoning and hoping that the issue doesn't reappear.

Edit: As of June 9th 2021, this bug has been solved and you are able to open *any* egg.

Quest isn't buggy, there are 2 types of eggs, if you're done other part of the quest then you cant click their respective type of egg. Just keep trying to look for the egg type you need and you'll get it done.

As of now (8/25/2022) ALL the eggs are cursed. I got so many Malevolent Hatchlings in a row that I wondered if I needed to find a different kind of egg. So I came here. Confusing. Kept breaking cursed eggs, and eventually got the three friendlys.

In the wretched colony to the southwest known as Veil Lithic, Terokk's minions are attempting to befoul their avian brethren before they hatch. The dark sorcerers of Lithic encase eggs in a shadowy curse. When the hatchlings emerge, they mindlessly serve Terrok.

Travel to Veil Lithic and prematurely break the eggs before the curse has time to seep in. Even if you are too late, you can put down the tainted ones.

Remember, the Light shines brightest in the darkness.
