When you loot the relic, like 100 mobs surround you. They hit 7-8 dmg. but still it's dangerous so be ready to flee right away.

If you have the trinket "Nifty Stopwatch", get it ready and use it.

At 50.76(right outside of the netherweb ridge) there is an NPC, Vindicator Haylen. He gives you a quest to kill 20 of those spiders. It's good to do the quests together.

I can confirm, as a warrior, I was able to easily do this quest with my ranged weapon. The eggs have ~300 health, so it may take a few shots or throws, espeically if you didn't up your skill level. But its a fairly easy quest.

Avenger's Shield makes this an easy quest for Paladins. Shield throw the items from a safe distance and you're good. Just like previous posters have said.

Make sure you do this quest along with "For the Fallen", chances are you will have to kill a lot of spiders to get to the victims.

The "drop rate" of Sha'tar warrior blows, I had to open at least 5 coccoons per warrior. Thank God for Flight form and Moonfire, so I could be one step ahead of all the pallies there ^^

There's a bug that prevents mobs from spawning or warriors to be freed if your pet kills the web thingie. So keep them on passive (if you melee the web thingie hits back and will aggro your pet too if kept on defensive), or range it down.

Thanks for mentioning the pet bug. I was wondering why the cocoons were all empty. Once I put pet on passive and attacked alone it worked.

Moonfire on druids also appears to not cause aggro as well as giving you some lead time on any spiders who notice you.

Note: If you're aligned with Scryer, you can do this quest at the same time as 'Strained Supplies', which has you collect 8 venom sacs dropped by these spiders. (This is also a repeatable quest used to change affiliations from Scryer to Aldor, but still rewards 10k experience the first time you do it.)

This quest is great for a Warlock or Priest -- Anyone with a DoT, really. Pop a quick, instant cast DoT from a distance and you won't have to fight the mob that pops out.

There's no real downtime when you do it this way. Just boom, boom, boom. Quest should be completed quickly and easily.

You can even do this as a Paladin. Cast a low level Seal spell like Seal of Command rank 2. Then if that doesn't take them down to <20 % hp, pop Retribution Aura and stand right next to them, they will start loosing health as they hit you. Then Hammer of Wrath when you're safely out of range :)

I found the fastest respawn of the victims to be at 53,78. High spawn of the Warriors

Ran around the camp Arcane Shotting these things from a distance, with Track Beasts on to avoid any unnecessary aggro from the spiders...

You're going to want to hit these from max range, to avoid having to fight a ton of mobs... all sorts of enemies from the Bone Wastes pop out of the webs, including some quest mobs if you haven't finished other quests... I found Bonelashers, Cabal guys, Broken Skeletons, and the Spiders themselves. It took me about 50 of the webs to find my six warriors, but I also finished the Broken Skeleton quest while doing it.

Didn't help that two other players decided to join me. =/

This is one of the most annoying quests in the game. After trying to free 6 for over half of an hour and having to fight tons of different types of mobs instead, I actually thought about suicide in real life. This quest made me depressed and mad at the world. I recommend skipping it unless you have a high tolerance.

SPELLCASTERS! Stay abit far away and cast a i.e a frostbolt, if example a bonelasher gets out, he wont attack you unless you attack him first.

Strange...

At first I would send my pet in to attack and shoot, as normal. After getting three empty cocoons, I figured there must be something wrong with this, so I went and whacked the next one myself. It only took one hit and it freed a Sha'tar warrior. I assumed this meant that it had to be done melee.

After about thirty more cocoons that were empty or had mobs, I checked on here. Seeing the comments on ranged attacks, I decided to try that again, only this time I didn't use my pet.

Simply using auto-target and firing regular shots, I got 5 warriors for 5 coccons. Was that pure chance? Or do you have a very high rate of success from a distance?

this quest is actually very easy for a hunter, all i did was auto shot, i have 60% of the time i got a person, 1 autoshot then i moved ahead. took no damage

I do think this quest is worth it, since you have another quest to do at the same time. PLUS I was doing Bonelasher dead at the same time so 3 quests at one time... PLUS you do maximum of XP on this one since you kill a lot of mobs and spawns I've almost done 10% of my lvl there... it's worth it believe me. and coords are good EXCEPT 42,33 DONT GO THERE it's not the right place.
oh and pls guys stop agruing on others english. Everyone's not perfect and think about it, maybe they are like me, second language :P try to learn one before bashing others. Have a nice play!

This quest is as easy as it sounds

Head to 49,76 and wait for the questgiver ("For the fallen" quest) if he isn't there already.

Continue to head southeast into the trees. Pew pew the webbed victims.

Droprate for me was extremely sporadic. I killed 12 webbed victims before getting my first warrior free. Don't lose heart!

This is one of those quests that let you question why you play this game after all, because it's really not fun to do. It's just annoying. Really annoying. It took me over 80 of those things to finish the quest and half way through I actually thought about quitting to play the game because it just felt like a total waste of time.

I did a little spider grinding while I wandered from cocoon to cocoon....and my prisoner rate was about 20%....not complaining but if it is late at night...and you are tired...and you just want to do "one last quest" from the Sah'Tari base camp....I wouldn't do this one....lol ( you might fall asleep at the keyboard<g>)

Do An Improper Burial or even The Dread Relic ( good quests to have booked for coming or going from Taken in The Night)...but not this one.

You can tell if it's going to be agro because the victims come out in one hit and the mobs target you after the first hit.

this quest is doable. just a pain with so many others running around. 52,78 titan you can see 2 of them wiggling around. note: warriors charge them and you get a victory rush if there is a bad guy inside.

You don`t even need to fight the mobs ... just use spell / ranged . The spawned mobs will stay there for 15 sec and than die :)

run around and keep pressing t, you should eventually target a webbed victim, this helps, as a webbed victim could be hiding behind a tree

I agree it's not as bad as advertised! I opened 10 and had it done! Probably luckier than most, but I did it in under 10 minutes.

I actually found it extremely easy to just stand at a distance and use ranged weapons, that way i did not aggro the mobs and could free the warriors easier

Easy quest, but it took a long time to get the first three warriors. After that, "drop" rate was about one in three.

Basically...the co-ords are 52,74-78 around there, if you don't use co-ords then it's near Veil Shalas!
Targets are hard to miss, shoot them once or twice and you will either get a mob which is easy to kill or the mob you just saved!

Easily soloed or if in a group then even better!

The way you free the victims is to attack the web casings - about half of the freed victims are hostile... Highly recommend getting quest "For the Fallen" from vindicator Haylen right by the fighting area before starting quest - he wants you to kill 20 spiders....

Make sure your pet or minion doesn't get the killing blow or you'll end up with an empty shell. Also I used a ranged attack from max range to avoid aggro if they were hostile.

DO NOT USE PETS TO ATTACK THE VICTIMS you will make no progress at all i did that for about 45 mins before i figured it out...if you use your pet you shall get no victim because the pet doesnt have the quest YOU DO and thus you must destroy the cocoon thingie

First i got 4 in a row while hitting on the cocoons. Then i tried shooting them and didnt get anythin the next 5 times, so i thought I'd try and hit them again and then i got 2 in a row. Dono if it was a coincidence or not^^

I personally don't think this quest is worth the 3 gold for the amount of time you will spend trying to get the warriors to drop. I've killed many (over 12 already) and nothing but silver has dropped.

If you still wish to do it...Good luck! They aren't hard to find. Co-ords 42.33 were perfect. They're just within Netherweb Ridge.

In plain English, you will find white, wiggling, web pods on the ground in the area.

Hit them.

You will either free a victim, or get something to fight.
It's kinda fun in a "surprise, what's in this one" kinda way.

I also found it interesting to stand at a distance and shoot them.

If you free a victim, he will run away as normal.

If you get a hostile mob, it will just stand there, then die, as long as you keep your distance.

this quest is EASY, just go were the spiders are and attack the victims to free them and sometimes u get a good one sometimes u get a bad one

I simply ran around the area shooting the cobs from distance, took me 10mins as a hunter :)

Make sure to grab the quest to kill the netherweb widows before you start. You need 20 of them and you'll easily get them by the time you get enough freed soldiers.... at least you should, I didn't do it in that order :(

By mistake my priests hit a cocoon with my mace. Being a holy priest I rarely use my mace so the skill level was very low, and increase a notch. Figuring that this place had lvl 60 opponents (the cocoons) that dont hit back, i continued using my mace and went from 128 to 278 in 10 minuts .. ;o)

I dont use my mace, so it was just for the sake of completeness .. but I thought I would mention it.

I've been on this quest for over an hour, have yet to find a single prisoner. About 80% of cocoons don't seem to have anything in them except and invisible something that dies immediately; other 20% contain ticked-off mobs. Have opened 26 so far without finding a prisoner. Don't know what I'm doing wrong!

OK, finally realized I was hitting them too hard. As a Hunter, started using Concussive Shot from a distance, and freed 6 prisoners in about 10 mins. *duh*

=Walkthrough=

Travel to the lowest, Southeast corner of your map in Terokkar. As previously stated it would be wise to pick up the For the Fallen from the NPC standing directly outside the spider den.

His exact coords (using MetaMap) are 49,76.

From this spot just jump into the forest, killing spiders and in search of Netherweb Victims. Below is a picture of one of the Netherweb Victims encased in webs:

Target the Victim and attack. In this encased, spider state they only have around 250-300HP. Once the case splits in half either a Sha'tari victim will appear or a random mob. Because of this, if you plan on avoiding as much aggro as possible, simply use ranged weapons, ie, bows, thrown, casters, hunters, etc. It's very easy to avoid the aggro of the mobs inside if you stay out of the immediate vacinity.

By the time I killed around 30 spiders I had all my victims freed. In that sense, it was somewhat slow but you have to stay to kill the spiders anyway so it faired out.

I just switched from sword to dagger and needed to level it up. The cocoons are the perfect place of course since they don't fight back. I managed to get my skill up from 1 to 217 before I freed my first warrior. That says as much about how good weapon leveling is as it does how bad the drop rate is...

Well it had a very small "drop" percentage for me. Must have destroyed at least 30.

Use ranged attack - i'm a shammy, so i used lightning bolt. one bolt is enough to break the casings, and you are far enough away that they don't aggro on you after it breaks open if they are hostile. after i figured that out, took about 3 min to get 4 of them. also, coords of 52,80 are correct.

Don't be discouraged by some of the posts. Clearly, everyone's experiences represent only a fraction of the actual truth. And, since usually complainers and those unsatisfied tend to post/act, its no wonder. I, for one, had to play about 15 minutes or so, not so bad - I think I won't die. -laugh-

Yeah I didn't have much problem with the quest. Took about 20 minutes or so. I found that if you attack it from range then you the hostile ones won't attack you back...very helpful for avoiding annoyances. I was using Shadow Word: Death...had to kill maybe 3 out of the 15 that were hostile hehe.

Nice quest, done in 4 minutes, though I left all the aggroable mobs for someone else to get rid off (just cast something from 30yards away). I suggest you take the Quest:
For The Fallen (Horde can do it as well, even the site says Alliance only)

Guestgiver is a nearby NPC, Vindicator Haylen (coords 49,76)

Take the quests for Netherweb Spiders (For the Fallen) and the Olemba Seeds at the same time as this. If you can, open one of the websacks and get a red mob, then run around while he chases you and open the others. The ones opened like this got this quest completed quickly for me, YMMV. If nothing else you can do the other two quests while you do this one making this more worth the time you spend at Netherweb Ridge.

For melee classes with a ranged weapon slot like warrior and rogues, seems like you can't miss shots on the cocoons, which makes this quest a pretty good time to level up your ranged skill!

Our small outpost is under constant attack. Several nights ago, we were raided by the spiders of Netherweb Ridge, on the southeastern edge of the Bone Wastes. They poisoned many of our people, wrapped them in webs and carried them away. Some of our warriors took up arms and with little preparation pursued the spiders.

We have not seen the captives or our hunting parties since. We hope that some may still be alive, perhaps imprisoned by the spiders. Our numbers are few. Will you search for our people?
