As soon as you loot the Dread Relic out of its chest about 50 skeletons spawn in a wide circle around you and start closing in. They hit for about 170 on me (mail wearer). Quest says it recommends 2 people, and that's the only reason why, however I just soloed it by looting the relic and running away using earthbind totem and frost shocks.

The skeletons that spawned only hit me for about 7 and I am a Druid,also they only have (judging from how much my thorns did to them) maybe 500 health.

Coords confirmed and they´re very weak.
Hold until they get on the same spot, for hunter... 01 explosive trap and they´ll bow up.
Druids can pop barksin and 01 hurricane will clear everything.
Warrior can pop retaliation, mages can rape them with Arcane Explosion and etc for the other classes.
Its a cool action lol

Tip:Get on top of the chest then take the relic.Mount up and run through them.

I did this twice another good idea is have thorns(druids) or fire shield(warlock's imp)

Did it with 2 lvl 66 easy. Druid+warrior.. Druid heal warrior Whirlwind thunderclap cleave em :P

Would like to point out that it's not skeletons spawning. It's small zombie wannabe's. At least it was when I did it.
Location confirmed, quest was very easy. You can easily mount up and run before anything happens.

At the time I did the quest on my priest, I had reflective power word shield.

They spawned, I shielded myself, and they all beat themselves to death against the shield while I went to get a soda. :-)

I had time to mount up and start moving before I noticed being surrounded by zombies, guess they've started spawning later than before if you all had them spawn before being able to mount, or I just got lucky.
anyways if you don't want to fight them mount fast :p

Very easy quest as hunter, just keep standing in the middle till they attack you (( their dmg is between 5 and 6 each hit, no big deal)) and then Volley + explosive trap and all are dead in a few hits :)

In the offchance that you are doing this at lvl 70 like I was, you have enough time to get on your flying mount and just go overtop of them.

I did not find this quest until I was 70, but once I opened the relic I finished the quest. I saw the green pillar of light and I didn't feel safe. :P So I get on my flying mount and when I look around there level 60 undead surrounding me. :O But yeah flying mount works if you are in my situation.

you can just grab it and run away. the spawn is late and they cant run very fast.

Confirmed chest is at 43, 76. If you mount immediately after looting the chest you can easily leave the area without aggroing any / not too many of the skeletons.

They have 250 health, too easy for a fire mage.
Wait for them to come, cast Blast Wave or Arcane Explosion and be sure to have your Molten Armor on.

Once u get the relic, there will be lvl 60 zombies that spawn all around and they will start attacking u, but don't worry they have around 200hp and are very easy to take down.

66 Druid - grabbed relic, hit bear form, demo rawr'd, stood on top of the box and looked at them. Thorns killed all in approx 20 seconds no healing required.

I see a lot of "solod this as <lvl> <class>..." comments and "can be found at <coords>", but for those who prefer to play w/out coords here is some useful info --> The relic can be found in a Massive Treasure Chest, Southeast of Auchidoun, in a cabin surrounded by burned wagons and debris and little zombies.

Did this on my 65 warlock with about +400 dmg (+500 shadow). Figured Hellfire would take care of these guys, but it did nothing at all. Just fyi to other locks....

The key is on your keyring, btw. So don't go looking for it, just click on the chest.

as a rogue i didnt have any AoE spells, so i used my trinket, Chained Essence of Eranikus which did 50 dmg every 7 sec or so. It was a blast finally being able to knock down "lower lvls" like dominos.

Just as a side note, you can open the chest more then once if you wish. However, when you turn the quest in you no longer can as the key is removed from your ring.

Rogues:
There are apparitions with stealth detection in the area. You cannot see them until they attack you. You will be stealthing through the skellies and suddenly see "Entering Combat". The will break your stealth and can potentially aggro too many adds to handle.

Save yourself the run and pick a good path between the skellies, so that if you do aggro an invisible spirit you will only aggro one add. I just popped blind on the add and easily finished off the spirit and then the skeleton.

Opened the chest, mounted, and booked it. Very easy!

When you found the chest and opend it there spawns alot of undeads but don't worry they die of 1 hit and hit quite low.
so my advice is to do a AoE and you will make it quite easy

This is a GREAT way to get your defense up just let em crowd around and when you get low health AoE them all quickly and repeat, once you have the key you are still able to repeat the action

If you are a warlock, I suggest that you use your detect invisibility spell, because there are invisible mobs around the chest.

Get in, click the coffer, get out.
You don't need to interact with the skellies that show up in a ring around you, plus they walk really slowly.

Look on your map where it says "Auchindoun." It's directly south of the last "N" letter.

And you should get the key when you get the quest (in your key ring).

The ghosts easily see through stealth, and after you pick up the relic, about 20 lvl 66 undead spawn and attack you. I died several times on this quest, but perhaps I missed some way to avoid the ghost or something.

Coordinates were perfect. Soloed as a level 65 rogue. Snuck up to the chest, got the relic. Cast Sprint, ran like crazy! Found a heard of decrepit clefthoof just to the northeast--they're neutral, or at least they were for me. Saved a lot of tedious dying at the hands of the dead.

you get the key when you get the quest, on your keyring, not in your bag. caravan is 47,75ish. i can't remember. somewhere in that area tho. :)

all i have to say is make sure you have some kind of detect invis spell/potion up. the stealthed ghosts are so goddamn annoying. almost got me killed a couple times.

Ok, this quest is a pain in the nard. 64 shaman and I made a kamikaze run at the chest, looted it and died. One way to solve the problem of the 40+ zombies spawning upon chest loot....

and take the relic swarms of undead spawn. Easily killable by AoEs though and hit for only 5-10 dmg but might aggro more powerful mobs around.

I don't know if the quest has been changed recently, but this is definitely not a push over quest. I'm a 64 shaman, and over 35 mobs spawn in a circle around you and immediately aggro, and each melee hits for about 185 damage on full mail, with shield. Without a passing hunter's freezing trap I would have died for sure.

I did the quest but did not have a key so could not open the chest. I abandoned the quest and re-acquired it. Still no key. I don't know which keyring the ring is susposed to be on. Very frustrating! :(

LOL...All the zombies have extremely low health, My molten armour could 3 hit him them...and they only hit 8-9 on my 807 armor...how do you die from that lol

Detect Invisibility works nicely here, I could see the invisible ones from plenty far away.

Also found a few super potions here, would be a nice place to stock up a bit.

65 Shaman. Cleared two or three mobs on the east side. I dropped Totems, grabbed the Relic and then realized I had time to mount up. I out ran the crazy mob spawn easy.

Chest is at 43,76. You might as well run off after taking the relic as the spawned mobs are not worth killing.

Go south of tomb of lights or SSE corner and you will find it.Not sure why people who give loc's dont give compass directions maybe its to much for them to type!

LoL love the mage class ...all the thralls killed themselves on my molten armor they have maybe 1000hp each if even that if ya got any type of ae can take them out real easy they do daze you Alot so if you can AE would recomend that over running

Easy for a hunter.. can't imagine other classes having all that much difficulty either. Coods were right, went there, giant chest. Only fought two mobs looking for it. Opened the chest, some ghost attacked me, pet went for that. Turned around and simply ran through the wall of zombies. I don't think they ever hit me. Easy xp and 3g50s.

Completed tonite as a 64 combat spec rogue...fairly easy....co-ords confirmed as 43'76' for chest.

Stealthed up and managed to aggro 2 mobs , a 64 and a 65 nearly had me but took a pot , bandaged and re-stealthed to chest.
No aggro on opening chest until loot taken then heaps appeared, so just hit sprint and ran like hell...no further damage taken.

Levelled on handing in quest so its all good....Woot!

you will find the key on your keyring, pull it out and put it in your main inventory and you'll be able to open the chest.

Easy with lev 66 hunter...killed spawns around chest looted chest then when 20 or so Lev 60 mobs spawned I ran like hell..they move slow..easy to get away. Quest done!

Descrizione

Long ago a caravan went to Auchindoun with a mission to take a Dread Relic from the ancient tombs beneath the necropolis. They fled, but the relic was their undoing. The relic is evil and it summons evil when touched. Their caravan was destroyed somewhere to the east.

This dark artifact is the key to a terrible plan to defeat Teribus the Cursed, a creature that flies over the Bone Wastes. Help me if you wish, but your life and even your soul will be at risk.
