This is a very simple and straightforward escort quest. If you are able to fight your way to Akuna, then you'll definitely be able to fight your way out. There is only one pair of mobs that will suddenly spawn when doing this quest, and they appear shortly before you walk up the ramp that leads out of the 'tomb'.

Was kinda buged for me the first time i tried it. We got outside, and he appeared to run away and despawn as if i completed it only i never got credit.

Just tried to do this as a 64 priest with a 63 rogue. At the time we did it no one was farming outside the camp when you come up above ground, so there were easily 10 adds that came when we got up top. For some reason I was not able to heal the NPC to keep him alive through this and we failed.

Although not difficult per se, the quest can go 'wrong' if people arn't keeping the up top clear.

I was able to solo this as a 64 mutilate rogue - incredibly challenging. You can't let him tank one as he dies within ~15 seconds of doing so, so tank and kill both as best you're able. If you clear from him to outside and run back, you can just get him to skip the first spawn.

Mobs you need to clear:
2 - Interrogator next to him and the mob closest to the Interrogator (pull it carefully so you don't get its neighbour)
2 - the mobs in the next (second) room (one patrolling, one next to the doorway)
1 - the mob in the third room
2 - outside, the mobs on either side of the entrance

This is as far as I could clear and still have time to get back to him and get him to walk and not snag the newly-spawned. Then, walking with him, you fight:

0-2 mobs in the first room, depending on whether you get back fast enough
2-4 mobs in the third room, depending on whether he aggroes the ones on the sides (two spawn here)
2-5 outside - two more spawn here and there are 3 patrollers in the area as well. How many you fight depends on their pathing.

Good luck! This is extremely gratifying to solo, especially if you overcome unexpected adds.

To maximize time spent in this area do this quest along with The Shadow Tomb (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10881). Just pick up a couple friends to make it easier on yourself and you have some quick experience and some decent quest rewards.

If the Horsemen are outside, there will be trouble as you'll have them, plus the two that he calls out, and sometimes other patrolling mobs join the fight. I cleared the mobs outside for a hunter doing the quest alone, figuring he'd return the favor....nope, lol.

Soloed tonight as a 66 shadow priest. In the middle of the tomb and outside are the hardest parts, where he calls out two adds. Do this quest when other people are farming the mobs outside to make it easier. ;)

Done it with 64 undead worriar with help of nightelf worriar 70 :P.I used /point on the mob and then /beg on the elf and he helped me xD.But hard to solo it so Goodluck.

Soloed as a 65 shadow priest. If you're a caster, be sure to drink between fights, or you're probably toast.

Soooooo I was happily soloing this quest on my 66 Shaman, no troubles.... until we got outside. He walked into a patrolling mob, okay, no big deal. 2 more spawned, okay, I can handle it. And then out of nowhere, another mob comes running to us.

It's gonna be tough, but I can handle it, still. So I proceed to lay down the totems, start whaling on them, took 2 down.... and I hear the dreaded 'Quest Failed' sound. I check to see what happen, and find out that Akuno, the silly broken Draenei, has been beat down.

Moral of the story: Keep the silly broken alive! ;_;

Don't bother with this unless someone is farming and has cleared everything up top. After exiting the tombs Akuna will walk in a path designed to pick up the skimishers that ride by every minute, as well as several of the regular mobs and the 2 that spawn just for the quest.

Either be prepared to handle 5+ level 64 mobs at once, or skip it.

Soloed this pretty easily as a 65, average-geared rogue. I had a trinket (forget where it was from) which had basically the same effect as Evasion.

Overall I had to use Blind once, Blade Flurry 2x, Evasion/Dodge 2x, and one "super" hp pot.

1. Clear immediate area around questgiver. Get quest.
2. Two mobs will spawn at the ramp leading out of the tomb.
3. Akuno will aggro one or two mobs at the top of the ramp.
4. About ten or twenty steps outside the tomb, two more mobs will spawn.
5. Akuno will run to one or two more mobs nearby--there is a very short time between these fights.

Note that he -cannot- take much damage. Be sure to keep aggro off him. The most you should have to fight at a time is two, three if you happen to run into pats.

Did this quest as a 64 warlock. Doable if you just take out your VW. Make it consume shadow every chance you get and use first aide on yourself every chance you get.

Really annoying. It was easy until he got outside. 2 casters were in range, 2 horseman patrols, and he spawns 2 adds... so that is a total of 6 and they all aggro to him first. He dies within 10 seconds and cannot be healed. So frustrating.

Don't know what everyone is talking about, but i found this quest to be kinda easy.
Didn't had the horsemen, but got 3 mobs aggro'ed when going outside, the 2 guards not included.
Little bit annoying to keep aggro because he hits multiple mobs at the same time.

Didn't clear anything, just did the shadow tomb quest and pick this one up on the way back. He does pretty decent damage, so the fights don't last very long, atleast not when i did it.

Lvl 66 Full prot warrior DW.

Whether this quest is incredibly frustrating or not is largely the luck of the draw. I had few problems with my Mage, but my Druid was a different story.

One thing which caused problems which no one else has really mentioned is the fact that the mob you're escorting will periodically cast a Chain Lightning spell which does about 2k damage. While one's initial reaction may be something like "awesome, that's like 40% of a mob's life per hit", it also means that chances are he will draw aggro on every mob you're fighting, and if the mobs aren't killed or controlled quickly he'll die, since he's pretty squishy. This happened a few times, and the worst part is that he'll have done so much damage to the mobs you've killed on the way that you'll get 0 exp for most of them, meaning that you don't even get consolation loot/exp if you fail. Pretty aggravating, although it certainly makes for an escort which isn't run-of-the-mill.

Wasn't too hard for my hunter to do this quest.
But at times the NPC almost died, so it's best to tank them up yourself, even if you're a cloth wearer I suppose.
The groups that spawn aren't hard to take down but they do quite some damage on the NPC.
It didn't happen to me, but I guess if he or you don't watch his steps he or you can lure large groups which makes it very hard.

I didn't get a complete message in the end, he just sorta vanished. But it was completed anyway.

I can't understand why people said this quest was hard. I didn't clear any mobs on the way in except those physically in my way (so maybe 3 or 4 total). Once the quest began he only pulled a couple mobs, not including the 4 that spawn on him (2 each time) during the quest. His chain lightning hits the mobs HARD, so the fights don't last long.

The only thing that might give you trouble is walking out of the tomb itself, with the potential to pull 6 mobs if you don't attack one side first. I just kicked the casters and cleaned up one side, he worked on the other. He'll the run a short ways, get ambushed, run a bit more, then thank you and vanish. Done. I'd give it about a 3/10 on difficulty soloing.

63 Gnome/Combat Mace/Rogue and all of my gear is either self crafted or quest rewards from Outlands.

Soloed this quest quite easily with my 67 feral druid. Really straight forward; cat form for the single/dual pulls and bear for the one time he managed to pull 3-5 mobs. As Wildhorn mentioned, Akuno's Chain Lightning does insane damage - 40-45% of the mobs HP and I've seen it jump twice (damaging three mobs in all). So while I was in bear form tanking, he basically killed the mobs for me. But as a reminder - just like most damage dealers, he got very little hp so make sure you always got aggro on as many mobs as possible.

This was incredibly easy for my 66 hunter, as has been every single quest in TBC so far. I absolutely love this expansion and I'm glad I came back after a year off. Being in 5/8 T2 and 3/8 T1 probably helps a bit but so far I've been able to solo every single quest without an ounce of trouble, even the ones recommended for groups.

Completed this quest without too much trouble on 6 chars or so. Now I just had to redo it three times because the escort guy didnt regen fast enough between battles outside, just at the point he starts running.
For some reason he sometimes also regen very slowly when he's not in combat anymore.

Soloed this quest with a 63 frost mage, very easy quest, no problems. Just clear a little bit before you start the escort.

The nice thing about this quest is that his chain lightning spell (which he casts every 10 seconds or so in my experience) does about 2,000 damage, which is an awful lot for an escourt mob. Although it did me no good, at the end the scripted mobs spawned right where the cabal outriders patrolled by, so all four of them came, he pulled aggro with his chain lightning, and died. :(

Did this as a level 65 Shadow Priest. Extremly easy quest.

I just waited untill he casted chain lightning then hit a fast Mind Blast and a Shadow Word: Death on the mobs. Also, when you're done with the mobs, he starts running like crazy :-)

Btw, he's unbuffable... so you can't cast Power Word: Fortitude on him, or heals...

I had an interesting escort with him, I cleared the whole path and in the middle of the hallway and turns around and Chain Lightning's one of the mobs in the other room for no reason.

Yeah, I couldn't heal, buff, or do anything to help him. He can however handle one mob alone succesfully with his overpowered Chain Lightning.

Protadin with all my bells and whistles for aggro pullin. This guy is harder to get aggro off of than a 70 warlock. I know cuz one helped me get my charger. I'm 64 now and it took alot of work just to pull one off of him. My advice is to kill as fast as you can and hope he lives. You also cannot use the paladin taunt on these guys.

This quest giver, Akuno is stuck in a tree on my server(Boulderfist). I petitioned blizz about it but they did nothing. Or maybe he is just off the ground?
I found him at 30,49. Only reason I know he is there is because I can see him on radar with the yellow !

Yeah, I just tried it as a lv65 pally but failed it twice. Once you leave the tomb it gets tough. I was able to keep all the aggro, but some of the guys do AoE, and it wouldnt let me heal the guy. Damn.

Just failed this twice with 64 shadow priest...

No problem killing the mobs. Only problem I had was keeping agro off Akuno. He casts chain lightning on the mobs, which takes off about 30% of their HP and makes them go straight for him, and he unfortunately seems to have very low HP himself. Even with psychic scream, I was unable to save him from the 2-mob "ambush" outside the tomb.

Very annoying. I'm about to go clear all that crap and try again for the 3rd time...

I did this first try as a 64 Warrior (Arms specced). I did use defensive stance for most of it and did my best to hold aggro. I think the key to success was to pull any single foes when possible as to not be fighting a larger mob. I will say that once at the surface, the roaming patrol on horsback was just leaving. Those guys got me good on another character.

Just hold all the aggro on you, he can soak up the AOE, as Queen said just keep yourself alive. Easy quest for such a great reward. With this shield I think I'll be very well geared to run Blood Furnace, Slave Pens, and Underbog.

I tried as a level 65 feral druid to solo this quest. All is fine until we leave the dungeon and this dude runs headlong into 3 shadow cultists. (Why is it that they walk at snail's pace most of the time, but they'll run to draw aggro?) I'm a tank, so 3 mobs is no problem. I kill one, but about that time a caster who was standing a ways off wanders a bit closer and joins the fight. By the time I kill the 2nd of the original 3, two of the skirmishers ride up and join in the fight. I manage to take out one of them, but another nearby mob respawns and joins in. I'm tanking 4 or so, and have killed 3, when they finally do me in.

Seems like this can bug out if you are in a group. When the guy reaches the point of "I can get the rest of the way on my own", it may not credit for everyone in the group. This happened to me. Put in a ticket to Blizz.

Not too hard to solo. His chain lightning does huge damage, like 50% of a skirmisher's health, but he has low health and you cannot heal him, so it'll be difficult to pull threat off him without a taunt. Try to kill his chain lightning targets asap since you might have trouble pulling targets off of him.
