Ok one question, if i take this profesion i can make few more pots like is flask (flask of titans etc.) or only potions (major mana pots etc.) ? If i cant make flask then best option is to take master of elixir.. :D

If you drop Alchemy to change masters you will not have to do the quest again. All you have to do is go to the person who gives the quest:
Lauranna Thar'well - Cenerarion Refuge in Zangarmarsh(Potions Master)
Zarevhi - Stormspire in Netherstorm (Transmutes Master)
Lorokeem - Shattrath Lower City in Terrokar (Elixers Master)
Just speak to the approprate person after you get your alchemy high enough and you will learn it. (THIS IS ONLY IF YOU REGRIND ALCHEMY FOR THE SAKE OF SWITCHING)

To drop your Spec, go to your respective trainer. Stormspire for Xmute, Cenarion Refuge for Potion, and Shattrah for Elixir. It cost me 150g to unlearn Xmute spec so I'm assuming it is the same for the other 2 specs. When you go to learn your new Spec you do not have to do the associated quest with it and learn it immediately.

I bought the stack at the AH because it was going for 4g.
I suggest looking into the AH for deals in order to use your efficiently.

Three wipes later, I managed to learn it in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh.
I immediately made 2x but I received 4x instead
along with the recipe for .

Holy nerfed shammy on a stick!

Talking to the NPC again yielded an option to unlearn it, but I feel that money is going to be rolling in with this specialization.

its 150g, might have changed but i checked yesterday. also note that transmutation matery is the only one you can actually complete at 68, unless that is, you found a way to convince people to let you run through BM with them. and botanica requires a flying mount to get to. so if you were like me and sitting at 360 alchemy at 58, and come 68 have 4 primal mights lying around, then it might not be all that worthless.

that and i have yet to actually sell a primal might. i just keep one in the bank for people lookin for the xmute (guildies usually.)

The quest can be picked up as soon as 325 Alchemy is reached.

The book drops off the second boss in Botanica https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=17975
In order to reach Botanica you must either be a druid or a level 70 with a flying mount.

Major Dreamless Sleep Potions are available from a recipe at 350 Alchemy https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22911
The Super Mana Potions are available from a recipe at 340 Alchemy https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=22907

You get your mastery quest at level 68, but to do the potions mastery quest you must run the Botanica to get the drop for the quest. But, to get into a Tempest Keep instance you need a flying mount (or be a druid with FF). So, anyone other than a druid (who gets FF at level 68) needs to be 70 to get into a Tempest Keep instance. Correct? Or is there a way around it? Or should I do a different mastery quest then pay to unlearn it if I'm anxious to get my mastery taken care of? I'm leveling alchemy on my alt and I didn't start wondering about the quest for mastery until recently since now I'm close to level for my mastery.

Ok maybe this will help some of you better understand the diffrences...
Now that I'm 70 with my warrior, who is also alchemist, I should go for some alchemy specialization. There are now potion mastery, elixir mastery, and transmutation mastery, of which you can choose only one, and have to do a quest to reach it. The transmutation mastery quest is the easiest, requiring you just to hand in 4 Primal Mights, but of course that is rather expensive. The elixir mastery quest is the hardest, you need to farm Black Morass for 10 items, and apparently the drop rate is low. Potion mastery requires you to get a book from a boss in Botanica, plus some potions. I don't think I'd want to do elixir mastery, but I can't really decide between transmutation and potion mastery. You can only transmute once a day, or once every couple of days, depending on the cooldown. But of course if you ever got your transmutation mastery to proc on a Primal Might transmute, you'd make a big profit. Potion mastery would be nice for all the healing and mana potions you regularly drink. But frankly I'm not excited by any of these masteries. Other tradeskills get new recipes on specialization, alchemy just gets a chance to produce several potions instead of just one.

Several different topic in one thread. You do not have to specialize to spontaneously learn recipes, a guildmate of mine spontaneously learned Flask of Fortification last night without completing any mastery quest. She is level 68.

You do not have to be level 360 to pick up the quest, only to turn it in.

The ZP rep reward is Greater Dreamless Sleep potion, http://www.wowwiki.com/Zandalar_Tribe#Rewards not the Major version... I think it might be a drop somewhere still yet to be found.

My 53 druid learned (discovered) flask of relentless assault at 369 Alchemy.

So I guess my lower Combat level didn't prevent a discovery - reason for this post. Nor has she completed a mastery quest.

So, can you really spontaeniously learn recipes when you make potions? If so, does anyone know what the proc rate is? What recipes, or type of recipes are learned? What Skill lvl you have to be at? Do you need to be 'Mastered'? Any information on these spontaneous recipes would be appreciated, I know many of the flask recipes are sold at exalted lvl of BC faction rep, it would be nice to know that I may not half to get there with all the factions that have flask recipes.

To answer a couple of questions- You can pick up the specialization quest as long as your toon is lvl 68. This I know. I couldnt get em at 67 and my alchy was already 375. (Another poster points out that you can't actually cash the quest for specialization till 360 alchy. I dont know if thats right or not.)

Confirming you can discover flask recipes without specialization. I got Recipe for Flask of Shadow something or other, now called Flask of Pure Death, spontaneously. (They respecced and renamed the Flask on the last patch- and its better now- only time I didnt get nerfed- ever) I was doing a Primal Might transmute when the new recipe dropped. I have still not specialized btw, so this is not a case of faulty memory.

Stil trying to decide on a specialty but I think Elixir is the way to go for raiding, which my guild does. Potions are too short duration to be as useful. If i just wanted to make g, Id say transmute, but I'd wait till someone comes up with reliable info on the proc rate. I know a couple guys who specialize transmute. If they have useful info, I'll post again.

And as to the quest you need to fly for - the summoning stone may not help if its on the ground but wouldn't a warlock buddy be able to port you up? Just a thought.

i am 361 alchemy and can't pick the quest up from her..Do you have to be 375?

You need to be 365 Alch and level 68 to attain the quest. However they made the final quest item so conveniently located in an instance that requires flying to get to. So you will either need to be 70 (w/ a mount), a druid with flight form, or have some nice level 70 buddies that can probably summon you out there. More or less just be ready to wait until level 70 to get it.

PS Major Dreamless Sleep is sold by a vendor in Allerian Stronghold 5g

I just got it, and when I accepted the quest I was 355. also the dreamless sleep repice is a vendor limited item. horde vendor is in thunderlord stronghold, blade's edge mountains.
other info. supposedly you can't summon ppl onto tempest keep so you prety much have to have a flying mount (or be a druid). also the fight is fairly easy if you do it right. he's the second boss in the instance and gives about 120 sha'tar rep when killed

This "recipe" is learned by making other potions...you'll just randomly learn it at some point, along w/ many other potions. As to how many have to be made is beyond me.

ok this is a new thing for alchemists so i have some questions to ask, here i start..
first what are these mastery things? heard creating 2+ for 1's mats, learning extra recipes ...

ok if that what is elixir and what is potion? which mastery of them is more useful? a flask maker like me must choose which one? flasks are in which category potion or elixir? WTF can master transmuter do?

why herbalist dont have a mastery for example we could breed our new herbs we can make new ones by using olds , 2 felweed and 2 netherbloom can make 1 felbloom or netherweed bla bla... M&M6 ah old days...

You dont need any reputation with Cenarion refugee to be able to pick up quest. If you dont see the quest at Lauranna Tharwell it is because you have active quest for Master of Elixirs of Transmutation. YOu just abandon previous quest and will be able to pick up another

For anyone that is trying to get the Botanist's Field Guide in classic WotLK at lvl 80, it was very doable as a solo lvl 80 Boomkin on normal difficulty. I was able to stealth through the entire dungeon to the boss and then burn the boss down really quickly.
