Heading west down the path of glory, I found him at the camp inside the walls on the left. He was easy to solo as a 60 frost mage. Slowable and rootable with a decent amount of hit points.

I found out how to get it! It's the Quest line that you get at Expedition Point. It starts with the quest Ill Omens and goes up to Drill the Drillmaster. To get to him, you need to jump off the bridge that leads to the meeting stone, he's on the ground level where the Orcs are (48,55). Make sure you check before you cross the bridge that leads to the meeting stone. At the starting point of the bridge, jump down on to glory road and he is at the end facing west. Be sure to get some help as he's a very tough elite to solo.

Very easy once you know where to look. He can be found to the left underneath Hellfire Citadel. Just walk down the path of glory stay on your left and follow it round to left he is i there with 3 other mobs. I did it easy at 60 with a 61 pally.

Location confirmed. I soloed him as a 63 Ret Paladin, but it was not easy; however, I did NOT have to LoH, so he's not impossibly hard. Pull him into a corner, away from adds because he calls for help at 20%. If you're far enough away, no one comes. Also, back up when he starts to WW. Fight him in a corner to prevent being knocked into adds.

Clear the pats and the mobs that are near the drillmaster. Once you have a large enough agro free area to fight in engage and make sure that your back is facing the wall because he will knock you back into nearby mobs.

Solo'd him as a level 61 warrior, BUT, as a warrior, you need some luck in this fight, a minor resist or anything might get you killed.

I built up rage in a previous fight with an orc, then pulled with my ranged weapon and stood against the wall. Popped Retaliation, Thunder clapped him and DPS'd him till I was low on health. Then Intimidate shouted and bandaged myself. (Be sure to clear the orcs around him). Then start DPSing again spam execute when he's below 20%.

I didn't even have to use a potion, so he is most definitely soloable for warriors (at least for arms warriors).

this quest is soloable as a lvl 62 fire mage, if you have mana pot and mana gem ready and a bit of luck, he hits hard and the knockbacks are a pain however he can be frostnovad and dragons breath works aswell :) Just make sure you have cleared the mobs around and to keep distance from him :) i think frost mage will do this alot easier then me but might not be as fun..

The chest piece isnt that much better than avg outland gear but its fun at least :D

It is worth 1000 Repuation with Honour Hold as well. Very simple for a Hunter to Freeze Trap him about, gets even better when he gets into whirlwind as you can just unleash your DPS and of course have even more time for your CC type cooldowns to come up.

Not soloable by a level 60 feral druid in shitty (read: tier 0.5, some MC-ZG-AQ20 + 2-3 Hellfire items) gear - You can slowly whittle him down by tanking in bear and using grasp/bash alternately to heal, but the adds will respawn before you get him down >_>. So, get a partner unless your gear is decent.

Soloed as lvl 60 Frost Mage. 3 tries. :) Was pretty hard. Water Elemental + Cold Snap + 2 Nova's + blinking around + permafrost.

Also, be careful if he knocks you back to the mountain, could end up with evasion. :/

Soloed him as a level 60 affliction warlock, took one hit.

He's actually very easy, if done right. Provided you know where he is, you should know that you can actually jump into the small, secluded place where he is, by jumping from the cliff a bit left of the bridge to the ramparts instances.
When you look down there, you can see that there's another piece of 'cliff' from which you can actually attack him with ranged.

What I did was jump down there, summon imp, and wait for him to patrol between the bigger tent in the middle and the smaller tent on the right, and then put an instant dot on him to aggro him when he was perfectly distanced from both mobs, so I didn't pull adds.
When he comes to you, simply fear him and dot him up, do your thing etc, and use the imp for mana. I believe he has around 15k hp, which was about 3-4 "full dots" for me, with 236 spell dmg. Don't worry, he doesn't run down and get adds - He just runs around on the piece of cliff you're standing on.

Soloed as a level 61 frost mage. Target him from the cliffs above, then summon Water Elemental and send it in. Once it aggroes Drillmaster, recall it and start frostbolting. Once he's in range, frost nova and move back.

Continue to frostbolt till he is close once more, then pop coldsnap and frostnova him again. Blink away, summon water elemental, then continue to dps with frostbolts. He should go down without any problems.

Soloed as a level 61 BM Hunter. Be sure to have the mana for a couple Mend Pets and throw up an Intimidation and your Bestial Wrath near the end and he's pretty much cake. Just be sure to clear the mobs before him and any pats you need to handle before your pull.

Rather easily soloed as a 61 Shadow Priest.

Tip: Jump down on the little platform on the hill south of where the Drillmaster patrols. Pull him and always keep facing down the hill. That way he will only knock you up the hill and you won't take any fall damage or pull other mobs.

Also, avoid fearing him, it will only pull more mobs or screw up your positioning. I died once because I feared him and he went up the hill and came down again only to punt me into the mobs below and making me take 2500 fall damage.

Go to 48, 56 and jump down just to the middle of the slope. He walks from one hut to the next hut. If you're facing north-west, the right side hut has only one caster mob. Pull him when Zurok walks to the other hut.
Now when Zurok goes to that hut he is single pullable. He does a huge knockback so make sure your back is always facing the cliff that way you won't get knocked back in the other mobs. 61 warr, 60 paladin was cake. I turned around once by mistake and got knocked in 3 other mobs but was still easy. Group of 2 with one being a healer(hybrid is fine too) should make it easy. A tank class should be able to take the beating with ease.

Has about 20k hp.

Managed to solo this quest as a level 61 mutilate rogue. Clear the mobs around him first before trying to engage him. Make sure that you have your blind, evasion, bandage and loads of gouges ready.
Try and keep him stunlocked as much as possible, and fill it in with a gouge afterwards to be able to wait out your cooldowns.

I was able to solo this with a 61 feral druid in dire bear. Just kept the dps up, used frenzied regen and did a bash and heal at the end and i was right. i was also backed into a corner so as to avoid the big knockback

Soloable as a 60 BM Hunter + turtle, with some effort.

I had to pull out all the tricks on this one, including letting the pet get it down to about 80% or so before engaging so it could keep aggro. Having Gift of Naaru (Draenei special ability) saved my pet... I dont think it could have tanked indefinitely with pet mend alone. Even in the end I was running around like crazy kiting the guy (had recently feigned away aggro once already). So, it wasn't easy by any means, but it sure as hell was fun!

Was very easy as a 60 moonkin druid - he never touched me. Cleared the mobs around him, then just kept him rooted with moonfire and insect swarm on him. Took a minute or two for him to die - but was never any danger.

Soloed as 62 Enhancement Shaman, put yourself next to a wall put down your totems I suggest Stoneskin for a little damage reduction, Stormstrike + earthshock spam keeping your water shield up at ALL times!!!!

i solo'ed him today with my lvl 62 warlock.

This is how i did it.

i opened with immolate and Corruption and followed those immediately with Curse of Shadows, at which point my felguard had already managed to hold aggro. I started casting shadow bolts and shadowburns until he aggroed on me. By the time he reached me, i had already finished casting my fear. During my second cast of fear, he ran into a wandering patrol. I had my felguard intercept the patrol, finished him off, drank a mana pot and cast my 3rd fear on the elite. At this point, he only had about 1/3 of his hit points left, so I finished off with a soul fire, two casts of shadow bolts and a shadowburn. He went down like a rock. I finished with almost full health (the missing health was due to tapping, he didn't get a finger on me during the entire fight).

I hope i don't have to say this but make sure you fully clear the surroundings first of any patrols, or you will end up pulling adds like I did.

Soloed it as 60 hunter with beastmastery. Its a big advantage to have a pet with lots of hp to tank, then stand back and just arrow him while healing pet. If you get aggro faint death, let pet get aggro and continue to shoot.

Another good tip is to not go down to the Path of glory, just stand on the mountain and pull him up, he'll climb the mountain and you got him and wont be disturbed.

Took me three horrible deaths before I managed to down him.

62 Elemental Shaman.

Once I cleared the area, I pulled him near the empty tent, then proceeded to kite him via Frost Shock. I imagine Resto/Enh Shamans might have an easier time of this with insta-Ghost Wolf. Once I got far enough into range, I would Chain Lighting and reapply Frost Shock. Keep up Frost Shock at all times. I positioned myself strategically (or tried to) so I could use the knockback as a free kiting session and get off a LB/CL without fear of him jacking me.

I had to use a pot, though, because he punted me while I was low, into what I can only assume is the 'instance section' of the Citadel, which immediately teleported me back into the Drillmaster as he did a Whirlwind. ><

But yeah, he's defintely soloable. Took about two minutes.

For you that think you cant get this quest until 60 or 61 your dead wrong. I'm a lvl 59 lock and I just got it. Not quite sure yet weather I will be able to solo it yet or not.

Soloed him with relative ease as a level 62 Night Elf Shadow Priest (talent build: 12/0/41).

Make sure you keep Vampiric Touch and Shadow Word: Pain on him. I also used Starshards (thank you, Blizzard!) for some extra and mana free DPS. Use Vampiric Embrace and Vampiric Touch to keep your mana levels up and make sure you use Inner Focus on either Shadow Word: Pain or Vampiric Touch to save the 400+ mana they cost.

Clear the area so that you don't pull adds if he knocks you away (he will, trust me). Unlike others have stated, don't keep your back to a wall as a Priest. Once he knocks you away, you'll take relatively little damage, but it'll give you distance which will enable you to get in one or two Mind Flays without interruption. While waiting for Psychic Scream, keep Power Word: Shield up as he'll tear through your armor in no time.

When he goes into spinning mode (Whirlwind attack), use Mind Flay for maximum mana efficiency.

I guess that's about it. My stats are seen below.

Note: I had the Hellfire Superiority on for part of the fight and I chugged a Major Healing Potion at one point because I didn't time the Psychic Scream/Power Word: Shield rotation correctly.

Lvl 62 bm hunter.

First time I tried from the hill above, couple of orc add-ons meant pet died in a few seconds and i had to feign death.

Second time I went a little east and down onto the path, cleared my way to the drillmaster's area. He paces between two tents quite close to each other. I went right up by the wall on the left and when the drillmaster was at the other tent pulled the neophyte and ran backwards, killed him then back near the left tent and waited for the drillmaster to come over, sent in pet and gave him everything I had, rapidfire, bestial wrath, intimidation, steady shot, serpent sting, gnomish death ray, gnomish shrink ray, the works.

I was on about 50 health when he fell at my feet. A worthy opponent, but not quite good enough for me, my pet and my gnomish box of tricks.

I had a hard time , I 2 boxed a 61 Fire mage/ 61 paladin holy.
I got slapped around allot died 3 times, 4ths a charm. each time I died it was due to adds repoping as it is a long fight so the pats repsawn pretty quick.
you only need to kill the caster near his pathing and not the other pathing mob.
I ended up just going through a few cycles killing the 4 mobs ( the caster, and the three gaurds by the bridge). then i had the paladin back towards inside one of the cubicle of the bridge , so every time he just flew up against that wall and back down . and since that part has an incline it reduces the damage.

I was mainly only able to heal with the paladin and a couple stuns. the mage was flopping around, but with blink i was able to regain position...

hope this helps will check in a few days to see if this needs clarification.

He is at location (47, 55). I got there by fighting my way into Hellfire Citadel from the east.

Drillmaster Zurok:
- lvl 60 to 62 elite
- Lots of Hit points
- He can throw you very far.
- Uses Windblade attack (Melee AoE move)
- Stunnable
- Rootable
- Sapable

As a rogue I'm well looking forward to doing this quest. The Darkstorm Tunic is awesome for rogues, also for feral kitty druids, and if you don't have anything better (there's not many good hunter rewards) this tunic is also great, if you don't mind the armor loss. The Stormstrike Vest is obviously for shammies, the plate for warriors, and..well I'm not too sure the cloth. All in all, great quest, great rewards! :)

Managed to solo this quite nicely as a 61 affliction warlock. Sent the VW on him and kept him dotted up, feared him whenever he ran towards me. Just make sure you clear the mobs out first. Shadowcast Tunic has nice stats, just a shame it is so ugly lol.

Found him at 48,56.
Solo'd this with my 62 Frost mage, died first few two attempts. I came down the path of glory, once I entered Hellfire Citadel I started leaving the corpses unpicked to extend the spawn time. Best way is to kill the guards leading to the Drill master as quick as you can as he knocks you flying and if your facing with your back to the way you came in you could land in the middle of a bunch of guards you killed two minutes ago. Having gotten the Drill Master down to almost no health on my first attempt only to be bludgeoned to death by those guys I found it very annoying.

There are three adds sitting or sleeping near him, it is possible, and highly recommended to kill them before taking on the Drill master. You do this by waiting until he has walked over to the other add, then pile the first one, again I left the bodies without picking them as the respawn rate is ridiculous and this adds some more time. Once to have taken out the adds, pile him, but don't get too close as he does some serious damage, one hit took a third of my health. He also has a spinning axe trick which is good for ranged attackers as he's not coming for you when spinning. Take this opportunity to kick his backside, used my minion and all my mana, had very little health, took him out with my wand in the end.

Well... As a 61 rogue, you cant solo this guy and the problem here is not the adds u can kill the adds easily before fighting him! The prob is to a rogue he simply hits to fast and to hard! In one try i got him to 7,5k of hp, he has 21k and something of life!

i guess if i read the post, the one soloing this dude at lvl 60, still had their epic stuff from before the BC.

It is true he hits you all over the place, so clear all pats and ads before you start! But it is worth; +1100 rep with Honor Hold :)

Okay, first of all, you CAN get this quest at 60 (it is a lvl 61 quest with prereqs), cause I did, and I completed it.

Take a rogue with you, sap the drillmaster, then take out the adds. Get the drillmaster cornered and kick his A$$! Keeping him in the corner limits the chance of his knockback placing you in the middle of more adds. Two ppl is good, three is better. Took all of 4 minutes, including the adds with 3x lvl 60 rogues (incl. me).

12000 XP and +1000 Rep with Honor Hold to go with that 5g 40s....pretty good.

Solo'd as a combat sword rogue. Started with blowing all cds, and when they were gone I blinded him and bandaged myself. After that it wasnt a big deal.

hey, i play hunter my self and noticed that all the mail things you get from quests are aimed shaman. first i didn't realy like it got pist and stuff, but a friend told me to just take the leather like he did. you will lose armore but the gains of stamina, agy and atk power are great :D

My lvl 60 NE Warrior grouped with another 60 and we quickly determined we'd die a horrible death, so he summoned a lvl 70 friend to come help--Zurok was dead within about ten seconds. :)

Solo'd it no problem! He's got a LOT of hitpoints, but only hits around 200 or 300, *on my pet that has 9k armor, of course*

To complete this quest you need to slay Drillmaster Zurok and return to Danath Trollbane in Honor Hold.

Make your way to the northwest of Honor Hold to the Hellfire Citadel wall. There is a path across the wall starts, but you need to get down to the bottom of the wall.
There is Drillmaster Zurok is a small area behind the wall. He is an elite mob and may be hard to fight. Be sure to pull him away from other mobs or he will alarm they.

Very easy solo as a BM hunter in T3. Come from above and dont aggro the pack to the west. Just blast them with all CD's and feign when you pull threat off pet.

I'm receiving reports that the Shattered Hand fel orcs, out in front of Hellfire Citadel, are organizing for what looks like an all-out assault. No doubt, they're not happy about your successes against all of the clans.

Get to the base of the citadel, where the Path of Glory ends. You'll find the fel orcs busy with their preparations, but you're going to catch them with their pants down.

Eliminate the one that's in charge of that force. Kill Drillmaster Zurok!
