I have some lower Character's and would love to be able to get a orphan , but the quests are so far away and not safe for them. They would like a toy too. Buy the way smaller children love to do things and get toys. It would be nice if you could make some quests for the lower character's as well. Sylata

best quest i ever did, and a lot of fun. I was send to 3 locations in outland and 2 locations elsewhere (Tanaris and Silvermoon city. in silvermoon city, just go to the paladin trainers and the orphan will walk to the questperson herself, just follow. Now i am in doubt wich pet to take....cant find any pics yet.

Just completed on my level 61 warrior. My level 54 rogue however wasnt able to get the quest

If this quest went live with patch 2.1.0 or not is still up for debate. To get one of these incredibly cool pets you have to wait for childrens weekwhich happens sometime in May. Then go to Shatterath City down to the lower city and speak with Orphan Matron Mercy (Loc 75,77 Lower City). She will give you an Orpahn whistle. It will either summon you a young Blood Elf (Horde) or young Draenei (Alliance) they will give you three quests. That take you all over Outlands. The locations are Sporregar in Zangermarsh, Thone of Elements in Nagrand, and the Dark Portal in Hellfire Peninsula. You take the orphan to each of these locations and wait (and since this is the first time, the game was having some glitching issues, so I mean you will WAIT) eventually the question mark will go yellow and you can complete the quest. The first two (Sporregar and Throne of Elements) have NPCs you can talk to, the Dark Portal, you have to stand at the top of the Stairs of Destiny, and wait for the orphan to acknowledge they have "seen" the portal.

After you complete all these the child will give you two more quests. The first takes you to Silvermoon City (for Alliance, I dunno. My high level main is Horde) to have her get zapped by the huge Naaru in the Farstrider's Square, that all the paladin trainers stand around. The second she wants to go see the big dragon boss in the Caverns of time. There is a fun little in game Cinematic (and you will wish it happened all the running this little kid makes you do) You then buy a toy dragon from the Keepers of time Quartermaster (1g) and that allows you to complete the quest. Go back to Shatterath City, and collect your pet. That simple.

As of 1:01am 5.23.07 I dont know if there is a minimun level restriction to this. I was level 64 when starting and completeing it. I dont know what the level cap is. If someone could follow up, I know I would appreciate it. I want one of those Baby Elekks for my Draenei Hunter (lvl 37 currently)
